Pretty sure this places closed out of nowhere. No one’s been able to confirm anything, but I’ve been trying to swing in for a while and nothing. :(

I was lucky enough to Attend the Grand Fall Re-Opening here 2 weeks ago and loved everything about it. The organic juices were incredible and all of the food that I had upstairs was incredible. Between ordering and tasting a little bit of friends drinks, I tried just about all of the cocktails available and was surprised to see that they all tasted VERY good. Everyone found the drinks to be strong(which is of course wonderful thing) but usually that’s followed with the cringe after that first sip that comes with a drink being riddled with alcohol but that wasn’t the case here at all. The drinks were powerful, yet delicious and I was really excited to see that the watermelon flavored cocktail actually came in a mason jar. Of course I saved that one for my last drink, figuring it would be another little cup. Whoops. lol =P

My friend and I ordered two avocado toasts and a side of smashed sweet potatoes and our bill came out to be roughly $ 40 after tax and tip. Hefty price for pretty basic food — will likely not come back. Pros: Our waiter was great and the décor is very pretty.

Got a delivery. Nut milk was warm and salad missing key ingredients such as apples? The ingredients they do give you are not mixed in but in a separate small plastic container for each one giving u a pinch which u have to mix yourself. So not only are u adding to the plastic container waste as much as they possibly can because they can’t mix a salad but they don’t give you 1. Enough mix 2. What they say 3. A warm drink $ 10 Freaking gross lunch for $ 20

Incredible food in a great location. Some of the healthiest and freshest food I’ve had in NYC! For those who care about their bodies, this is a must. Left full but without that heavy feeling. Will definitely return and highly recommend!

*** Fresh and filling, Great service, Affordable *** Chose Darrow’s because I was looking for vegan/vegetarian friendly options. I was very impressed by the selection, but even more impressed by the large portions. You will DEFINITELY be full afterwards … unless you haven’t ate for weeks. Very delicious and fresh – you can really taste the quality of the ingredients.

Brunch is often a connotation for booze laden eggs and potatoes in a packed restaurant on a Saturday. Darrows beats the heat — still offering delish cocktails and brunch items — but here you can taste the freshness and quality of ingredients– in a gorgeous space in the heart of union square. My favorites are the avocado toast and the fresh pressed green juice. Your meal isn’t just delish but also helps you stay within your health goals. If you choose to also booze– their cocktails are packed with fresh cold pressed flavors. It’s also my pick for a post barre or soul cycle class. Healthy options that are extremely tasty.

A «clean eating» paradise where you can bring all your gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, etc. friends with all their dietary restrictions — there is something for everyone. A mostly plant based menu, the dishes are flexible and allow you to pick and choose different things to make up a plate, bowl or salad. There are smoothies, juices, teas, and all sorts of «boosters» you can add to these already healthy drinks. While I enjoyed my quinoa and black bean burger, sweet potato fries, and the sauteed kale, I wish everything had been warmer. Everything was served barely lukewarm and then turned cold very quickly, which put me off finishing my meal or sampling the brussels sprouts. Flavors are good, just wish temperatures had been higher. A great place to come if you have a friend with allergies or dietary restrictions, but I don’t know that I would come back on my own.

Our party of 7 had a really disappointing experience at brunch yesterday… it such a letdown since I had such a great meal at Darrow’s at the end of April and raved to my friends about this restaurant! First and foremost, I am very sad that you are no longer serving your regular lunch menu on the weekend because the brunch menu is VERY limited. – Poached eggs with sweet potato hash was just okay. I don’t like ordering eggs when I go out because I can actually make eggs(I can’t cook much!). But since there was no regular lunch menu my options were limited. The hash was dry and lacked seasoning… I had to add lots of salt! – Side of sauteed kale was unbelievably garlicky and greasy. Luckily the waitress was nice enough to take this off our bill. – My husband’s omelet was tasty and very large, but he also doesn’t like to order eggs at restaurants since that’s all I ever serve to him! Poor guy. – My daughter had the avocado toast and turkey bacon. She said the bacon was dry and barely ate it but she devoured the avocado toast! So apparently that was good. – Other members of our party had the egg sandwich(which they deemed just okay). Service was quite friendly but the food took FOREVER. Strange since eggs take no time to cook and the restaurant wasn’t even ½ full. Overall I won’t be returning on the weekend due to the limited menu. Fingers crossed I can escape to Darrow’s for a work day lunch one of these days instead!

If you think this place looks like something your favorite healthy food blogger would Instagram, you are correct. Which is actually how I found this place, and am happy to have done so. A friend and I got some delicious healthy meals, with really fresh veggies. I’m a fan of the brussel sprouts, and anything with the chicken on it. The whole experience was lovely, I’d come back!

After looking at eye capturing photos on instagram, my friends & decided to come here because of its focus on healthy and sustainable food. The employees here are super nice and you could see how passionate they are about the place. We were even given some samples from the cold pressed juice on tap which was super neat. I loved the celery & pineapple mixed juice that i tried. Nobody cannot love the«think green,» hip, & trendy décor here. Everything here is dedicated to sustainability– from the reclaimed wood to the living wall. I loved the open space of the 2nd floor with the huge, airy windows. We came after 5 which is when they took away the iPad ordering service so I didnt get to try that kind of service. To start off our meal, we were brought mason jars of water. Everything on the menu looked super good but we decided to stick with something light. We ordered the beet & goat cheese salad, kale tuscan salad, and the avocado toast and all shared. My favorite was probably the tuscan kale salad, the lemon dressing was sooooo sooo good with the kale. The avocado on the toast looked a bit old and did not seem to be fresh since it looked like it was browning. To end our meal, we ordered the plant based cookies 3/$ 5 which were all burnt :( We even got a chance to chat with the owner, Peter, who is very nice. If you get a chance to speak to him, his story about how he opened up the restaurant is very interesting. The service here was SLOW. Our waitress was between tables and making drinks at the bar. We had to flag her down twice before we got our check.

Love the owner’s passion and vision. I’m not much for rabbit food as a general rule, but the flavors here are great. Portions are a little bit on the small side, but I appreciate the dedication, willingness to improve, and attention to feedback and customer experience. I’m sure they’ll iron out the kinks soon! The atmosphere is definitely one of the very best aspects about this place.

I’ve had both take out and dine in here. Dine in is very casual. Food is fresh. Have had the Protein Plate, Stress Relief Plate, Tuscan Kale Salad, Seasonal Sandwich and Salmon. The functional plates have been good and substantial. Not a fan of the Tuscan Kale Salad, felt like it was lacking something. Salmon is a little dry and overcooked. Seasonal sandwich was ok. I’ll continue getting the functional plates as they’re good post workout meals. I plan to give the smoothies a try. Tips: Protein Plate or Stress Relief Plate.

From a business perspective, I am amazed at how long it is taking this place to find a smooth process. I’ve gone a bunch of times and now, at least, the food is done reasonably quickly, but there’s still a bit of confusion. You come in and think you should head for the register, but instead you head left where someone takes your order. They ask if you are staying or to go, which is a weird question, because if you are staying for table service, you’d go upstairs, but I guess they’re trying to tell you that there’s an option(because it’s not entirely clear). If you want to get your food and eat it at the bar downstairs, you can, but you still have to get plastic utensils in a wax bag with all your food in a plastic to-go container. Given the theoretical interest in being environmentally friendly, it’s weird that you can’t stay on the ground floor and eat at the bar with your food on a washable plate with real washable silverwear. I suppose they fear that too many people would do that instead of going upstairs? That would be a nice problem for them to have! And the upstairs is a different experience, so I’d argue for them to let people pay a little less to eat downstairs. It’s not like it’s super comfortably anyway. The stools are very low unless you turn them a ton to change the height. There are various things crowding up the corner of the downstairs bar counter, as if they really don’t want you to sit there. I dunno… Back to ordering: So you order some food and maybe salmon(which means they have to fire it up and can’t finish your to-go container right away), so then you have already ordered but you now have to give your order again to the cashier. Wouldn’t it be totally logical to give your order to the cashier and then get your food? Is this a helpful game of memory that guests get to play? Then you pay and wait. Maybe you are eating here to be healthy, but someone puts balsamic glaze(basically sugar) on your sweet potatoes, which you are sometimes asked if you want and then sometimes not asked if you want(which you don’t, since you are trying to not eat sugar, which is why you’re eating here). Then you sit at the juice bar, which is basically a sugar bar(fruit juice is sugar, people), but that’s a whole other conversation. A few more tweaks and this place could really shine. Fix the order flow. Fix the seating. Get everyone on message.

Good(taste and morally-wise) as well as healthy food. That is their selling point I would say. Additionally, the place is very nicely setup, and they use(mostly) non-disposable utensils which is eco-friendly. Then there’s the upstairs, with a BAR, featuring really inventive mixology — def. worth checking out! I need to go back to try more food and drinks before I can consolidate my review.

My friend and I decided to try this place for dinner after spending some time at an event upstairs. There’s seating in the back for those who want to dine-in with a large picture lit from the back. For a place that just opened, they are in a prime spot near Union Square. I ordered the quinoa and black bean burger. It was more of a half sandwich than a burger. The toast was a little hard and the portion was a bit small for $ 14. There were plenty of sweet potato fries though. My friend ordered the immunity plate and added chicken for an extra $ 5. I liked the presentation of the bowls, but then the chicken came out in the same size bowl with what looked like 2 – 3 thin pieces of chicken. I have a feeling this might be the perfect lunch or after-gym spot but we left wanting a little more.

I had really high expectations when I learned this place had talent from Pure Food & Wine, an upscale vegetarian only restaurant that really innovated and brought vegetables to a new level. …Was I disappointed here. I’ve lived in NYC for almost two years, and had never once returned a plate because it was not to my liking. Until dinner at Darrow’s. I was here for a private event upstairs and wanted to try a larger selection of what the restaurant offered. I ordered the quinoa and black bean burger, which came with sweet potato fries and cost a whopping $ 14. At that price range, I really expected innovation and a burst of flavor. Instead, I had a patty that was crumbling and was as dry as a desert. It was served on a charred whole wheat toast. I had a bite, and didn’t want any more. Coincidentally, the owner checked in with my friend and I. He asked me how my meal was. «Not very good,» I replied, explaining the flaws with the burger. I do appreciate his understanding; he allowed me to replace my entrée with another selection, and I chose the Stress Relief Plate. The concept here is very confusing. If you order at the counter, your meal is automatically bagged to go. There’s a bar area upstairs with some additional seating, and table service in the back. I was peeved with the service here. A sign at the entrance said the upstairs area was closed due to a private event, and that additional seating was available in the back. However, when my friend and I tried sitting here, the hostess contradicted our thinking and said the area was for table service only. Talk about a conflicting message; this left a bad taste in my mouth. The rest of the meal’s component were executed well. Goat cheese and avocado on a whole wheat toast is hard to mess up, after all, as are mashed sweet potatoes. Are they worth a premium for? No. This is standard health food. I’ve had food of similar quality in the city for half the price. At a $ 14 range, I was something less conventional and more daring. You’re not getting mushroom carnitas like you would at Pure Food & Wine. The sides I had were were good but took no risks. Organic doesn’t automatically translate into delicious. Between my mediocre entrée, average sides, and lackluster service, this is one place I won’t be going back to.

Went for a quick take-out dinner, which was not quick at all considering I was the only customer in the place. Got the stress relief plate plus a side of chicken. The $ 22 bill was more like a stress inducer. The rainbow chard was soggy and the chicken was dry. Not going back.
