Da Capo is my favorite local bar. What brought me in was the atmosphere: European(especially Greek) or jazz music on Friday nights, warm ambiance, and solid selection of wines. What keeps me coming back is the staff. The owners and bartender made an effort to get to know me when I first came in and curtailed my experience so I had a wonderful night. And when I came back another time, they remembered and welcomed me. One of the gems of the East side.

Cute space, although pretty chilly in the winter. The friendly and adorable Italian baristo made me a decent Americano. Tables in the back were quiet — great place to get work done.

Real coffee is great. They also have a large selection of tasty treats to choose from. Torta de nonna and tiramisu are delicious.

Very tasty treats, sandwiches and really good coffee. We stop here a lot on our way out of the city. Easy street parking too. If you aren’t driving enjoy the beer and or wine. Friendly service too.

Definitely my favorite coffee shop by far; I come back to this spot every time I’m visiting my boyfriend in NYC. The coffee and drinks are amazing, the food is great, and all the staff are incredible– extremely friendly. Would recommend to anyone!

It is s beautiful place. I like the seating. The selection of items is plentiful. It is a little too upscale for me. I won’t pay 3 – 4 dollars for a coffee. I like the concept. Obviously it is popular. There were a lot of people going in today. It may be the fact they are open on Christmas and the other places are closed. I’ll stop by for a little sweet treat now and then. It certainly is delicious.

I walked in after a run at Central Park hoping for a nice macchiato, which I got, but only after snooty stares. What an unfriendly place!

Wonderful spot for breakfast. It’s comfortable, cozy, even romantic, with a rear area with skylights. Friendliest staff — shout outs to Nico and Mino. I sat and people-watched while waiting for an friend and ended up with a sample of prosciutto. A sample that convinced me to get a sandwich. Their sandwiches are made fresh every morning; I recommend the prosciutto panini with basil. Their lattes($ 4.25; credit accepted) are a bit plainer than I’d like, so I stick to their espressos and coffees. Find Da Capo a short walk from the 96th Street 6 train. If I lived closer, I’d be here way more often.

Came here around 3pm on a Monday with a couple of friends, and I have fallen in love with the place. It’s stunning, really felt like I was honesty in Italy. The service was friendly as well. I got an iced macchiato and it was very good. My friends got drinks in addition to a caprese panini which they both loved! I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a place in the city where it feels like you are no where near the city.

Despite my constant need to make sure I have probably-more-than-the-recommended-amount of caffeine in my body throughout the day, I don’t consider myself much of a coffee connoisseur. I can’t really differentiate between the taste of Brazilian, Peruvian, Colombian beans, etc… or tell you why pour-over costs 300% the price of normal drip coffee. What I can do, however, is trust my taste buds to tell me what tastes good or bad — and in this case, the espresso at Da Capo is very, very good. According to their barista, Da Capo is the only place in the city that gets their beans straight from Italy. As such, this espresso bar just oozes with Italian sexiness — from the oddly fitting music(soft jazz one second, French classical the next) to the intimate, back patio(perfect spot for a laid back conversation or some quiet study time). The service is impeccable, and while there’s almost always a line, it moves pretty quickly. You can order at the front, pick from their list of espresso drinks and/or Italian pastries/sandwiches, get seated and be served within 10 minutes. I got a soy latte during my visit, and found the espresso to be bold and flavorful. Unlike many espresso-based drinks I’ve had in the past, the rich and deep flavors were not masked by its dairy counterpart, enhancing the drink with its subtle bitterness. I can say, without a doubt, that this was the best latte I’ve had in the city to date. In addition, the prices are very comparable to other popular coffee shops, ranging from $ 4−5/drink. With its spot-on service, fantastic drinks and rustic atmosphere, Da Capo has upped the game for espresso bars everywhere.

A nearly-hidden bit of Italy on the upper edge of the UES, Da Capo is cozy and unpretentious. Stand at the counter in front, or relax in the tiny seating area in the back if you want to chat, study, or read. Our cappuccinos and panini were pretty much perfect, but it’s the service that makes Da Capo a standout in the neighborhood. The barista was patient with our numerous questions(the menu is tiny, but that didn’t stop us) and managed to be both friendly and dignified. This is an ideal spot to gather your strength after a session at the nearby museums(or hospital).

The café looks small from the outside but there is additional seating in a garden-like area in the back. I had no idea what to order and the man behind the counter enthusiastically referred me to a Sopressata Panino($ 10) which had spicy salami and pesto. I also ordered a Cappuccino(peep the photo). The flavors of the espresso and of the salami reminded me of my trip to Italy, truly nostalgic. The service was very friendly. Upon ordering you are served a glass of water and if you are dining in, you pay later when you are finished.

I came here around midterms to do some serious studying and Da Capo was PERFECT. I snagged a seat in the cozy and semi-secluded back area where I enjoyed a delicious cappuccino and the sweet sweet voice of Michael Buble. Oh, did I mention that they played Michael Buble the whole time I was there? It was sublime; for those of you who are unaware, Mr. Buble’s melodious, crooning voice is the perfect background noise for peaceful studying. After my cappuccino I had a caprese panini which was also — how would the Italians say it? — delizioso. I’ll definitely be back next time I need a quiet study spot or want to catch up with friends!

Cappuccino and cornetto(croissant) Italian style? This is your place! In a cozy, strategic location, very close to Mount Sinai Hospital(now Icahn), you can enjoy the real Italian taste and atmosphere. 5 stars well deserved.

Hidden gem on the UES. I’ve walked past this little coffee shop so many times thinking it would be too pricey, but finally went in one day and peeked around. I had the best latte and the best prosciutto brioche in my life. Then I came back again and again. I’ve been there 3 times in the past week. I couldn’t stop. They also have: — great croissants(chocolate, vanilla, almond) — paninis(caprese!) — more brioche(mortadella!) — desserts(tiramisu, lemon pie!) This is my new favorite place.
