very polite and patient over the phone. always passed by but never ordered food. got mixed vegetable and vegetable fritters. the vegetable fritters were sooo good. the mixed vegetable curry was very good, just wish it had no oil. the sauces were good. ordered a extra rice and naan. just noticed that one of the vegetable fritters had eggs. it’s my fault for not asking fast service vegan and hclf 801010 friendly

Best Indian food I’ve found in New York. Service is extremely nice and attentive, food is delicious, ingredients taste fresh and home-made. I haven’t had a dish I didn’t like, lamb vindaloo, paneer saag, kolhapuri, chana masala. All great. A bunch of types of naan. Mango lassi. And the place is family owned, so often you’re being served by the owners or their niece. If I love this place so much, why don’t I marry it?

The food here is well made and is served to you with much good cheer, you are made to feel like a welcome friend. We had chicken tikka mussalem, tandoori chicken, samosa, garlic naan, korma, etc. All very delicious. You should go

The dinner buffet was either $ 14 or $ 15 per person, and the place was empty around dinner time on Sun. The buffet options were chicken tikki masala, tandoori chicken, chickpeas, okra, and a few other items. There were also free plain naan. I thought the chicken tikki masala was a little sweet, and my friend concurred. The staff was friendly and repeatedly refilled our water.

Tried the buffet dinner with my 15% student discount and the food wasn’t bad at all. My roommate and I are both vegetarian and we still had a few choices to pick from with the buffet offerings. My favorites was the okra curry dish and fresh naan. They also brought out fresh, tasty basmati rice. The servers were very friendly and attentive and my roommate and I walked out having eaten a hearty meal.

I just moved to the neighborhood and decided to check this place out for dinner based on the good reviews for the food. The service was good, though a little slow considering there weren’t many people in the restaurant, and everyone working here was very nice. I hate writing bad reviews but the meal I had was disappointing. I ordered samosas, okra masala, vegetable curry, and garlic naan. The samosas were okay. The okra masala was bland and the vegetables in the curry were overcooked and flavorless; also the curry had so many baby carrots — and something about«manufactured» vegetables just doesn’t sit well with me. Also, I’m trying to eat vegetarian and they didn’t have chana masala or many lentil options to choose from so I didn’t feel like I got enough protein. I miss Om Real Indian Food on the UES and Swagat(where I ate and a roach ran across the table… but the food was so good I kept going back anyway). I will continue my search to find delicious Indian food in Manhattan Valley.

Tasty food, fast delivery, friendly service. Highly recommended. They also have a new location on St. Nick’s at 112th — good for a quick take-out or delivery.

We love this place and try to get here at least once a month or so. This is a family owned restaurant and the management are very friendly and accommodating. My younger son will not eat Indian food(try as we might to convince him…) and they allow us to bring in a slice of pizza for him! The food is consistently good, flavorful and authentic. Our favorite«go-to» Indian restaurant.

Definitely not bad! We were in the neighborhood after a long walk in Central Park, and decided to stop in for dinner. Only problem: we had our dog with us and they don’t have much outdoor seating. They very nicely accommodated us and allowed us to bring the dog into the outdoor seating area. My daughter is 9 and wasn’t sure what to order. They don’t have a children’s menu and she didn’t want to try very much, but we ordered her the appetizer of Tandoori meats. She thought it was great. I had the dinner special. For 13.95 I had a samosa, naan and curry chicken. It was milder than I normally like but very flavorful. My husband had mutton korma, and loved it. There was more than enough for us to take home, too. I enjoyed a mango lassi, a nice treat. We were the only ones dining here and thought that was a bit strange but it was early. While we were eating it began to rain, so they moved us to a table in the doorway, and our little guy slept under the right outside, under the overhang. The manager gave my daughter a dessert on the house, which was very nice of him. Service was very friendly all around. I will probably go back when I’m in the neighborhood. They have a lunch buffet, and they do special dinner pricing, so there’s always something going on. A friend who lives in the neighborhood said he orders from them and enjoys it, but he never ate in the restaurant. A good, casual choice for us, and we were definitely satisfied.

A short review but you will see why. The health department needs to come here. I actually witnessed them taking the chutney from one table, putting it back on a counter then reusing it for other tables. It was actually blatantly obvious to anyone watching the area. They didn’t even pretend to take it in the back and then bring it back out. So stupid and NOTOK. The food was actually good tasting but if they reuse the chutney, I can only imagine what the kitchen is like. HORRIFYING.

This was only my second time ever eating Indian food, but boy, it was DELICIOUS. I did get the«Dinner Special» for $ 13.99, which came with one entrée and an appetizer. I do not recall what the appetizer or entrée were called, but needless to say, they were amazing — I got the bread, as well, and a huge portion of rice… and by huge, I mean HUGE portion of rice. Very good! I also added a soda to my tab. I didn’t check the tab to see how much my can of soda costs, but at the end of the night, I was charged $ 22.00. So are you telling me that I paid $ 9 for a can of soda after paying $ 13.99 for my meal? Again, I was a tourist and in a hurry to make it to the Empire State Building, so I wonder if maybe I was taken advantage of and should have done a better job checking the tab!!! I

One habit that I’ve noticed many Unilocalers to exhibit is the tendency to shill for and overrate their local places. Something along the lines of «I live two blocks away from this place, I order from them twice a week, and it’s the best food ever» about a regular local deli or Chinese takeout. I was going to post some actual quotes, but if you’ve been on Unilocal you know what I’m talking about. For a long time I was worried that I was unfairly biased toward Curry & Kabab because it’s my local place that I’ve been going to for years — coming up on ten — but after trying a lot of other Indian restaurants in the city and local Indian places that aren’t as good, I feel comfortable giving Curry & Kabab four stars. Curry & Kabab, or Royal Kabab & Curry, as it was previously named, used to be located on the northwest corner of 103rd and Broadway, in the spot where Aangan now resides. The location and name may have changed, but little else has. The décor inside the restaurant has always been somewhat kitschy, which can turn some people off, but I’ve always found it harmless and kind of cute. Besides, the real reason to come here is for the food. By now I must have had almost every dish on the menu and I’ve yet to be disappointed. Everything is always cooked well and flavorful. The sauces’ consistency is just right: thick enough to be able to scoop up the gravy with a piece of naan, yet thin enough to easily mix with a spoonful of rice. Furthermore, the texture is not smooth, but varied such that you can feel the different bumps and pockets of ingredients as you run your tongue over them, something that I really enjoy in curries. The flavors are nuanced as well — a recent order of chicken dupiaza, a tomato-based gravy with onions, featured notes of anise and cardamom, and the biryani contains saffron. The standards are all great — curry, saag, tikka masala, tandoori, vindaloo, etc. Curry & Kabab even makes a really solid korma, which is my bellwether to tell whether an Indian restaurant is up to snuff(anyone can make a decent vindaloo or tikka masala). They also have a couple rarer items on the menu, such as dildar, a creamy, sweet curry with pineapple, and dhansak, a hot, dusky curry with lentils. Don’t worry about what meat/vegetable the curry is under on the menu — they can easily mix it up for you. Curry & Kabab also offers all-you-can-eat lunch and dinner buffets on Sunday. If you’re feeling hungry it’s totally worth it; they always have a good half-dozen dishes out, including mulligatawny, rice, naan, vegetable fritters, tandoori chicken, then usually some combination of chicken tikka masala, chicken saag, mixed vegetable curry and alu muttor gobi. Service is always good, and if you show up frequently enough you won’t be forgotten. Curry & Kabab might be my local, go-to place, but I’m not overrating it. There are other Indian restaurants nearby, like Indian Café, which is closer to me, or Indus Valley, but they’re not as good. I keep going back to Curry & Kabab because it’s that’s good.

One of the best Indian restaurants in NYC that I’ve tried so far. The host was also very friendly and informative. The restaurant itself was a little on the small size but nicely decorated. The poori and garlic naan are delicious. I have only tried the tandoori entrees and they are all very flavorful and the portions are good. I learned of this restaurant while getting my hair done in the area and this will be my go to spot whenever in the area.

I would give this place 10 stars if possible! Our new go-to Indian Restaurant… Lets start with the service, excellent. Very attentive and helpful staff, some of the best we’ve encountered in NYC. Oddly enough, the water is amazing. I laughed when I saw someone else comment on this but it is completely true. Then came the Samosas. We ordered the vegi and couldn’t be more pleased, again some of the best around. The Lamb Korma was perfect! The Palik Paner was pretty good, not the best we’ve ever had but still a really nice dish. We finished with home-made pistachio ice-cream …Everything was amazing! For those wondering about the price… Curry & Kabab is reasonably comparable to the other sit down Indian restaurants in the city. I haven’t found one much cheaper, but if so the quality is hard to beat. p. s. I use Unilocal frequently but never post. This place actually compelled me to leave a review.

Review for take out(delivery) special. $ 10.95 gets you a curry of choice(lamb vindaloo), rice, two chutneys and a pickle. I added on raita to hit the delivery limit. One thing I can say, they don’t screw around when you ask for spicy, so I am glad I got the raita! everything is pretty hot and fresh. I’m going to order from these guys again. Hooray!

4 stars for the food. 6 stars for the service! If my math serves me correctly, the above review is the average. ;) I have been to the place twice and both times the food was great and the service was excellent. The palak paneer is delightful and the veggie apps are very yummy too. We are still trying to figure out what our second«go to» dish will be. The veggie curry was good but not great. With that said, we loved the papadam and the chutney’s are wonderful. The naan was also pretty good. finally, back to the service, we have a specific waitor – older, short, a little heavy set with a constant grin on his face – that we absolutely adore. Anyways, we will be going back – again and again.

On a Sunday night it’s hard to find a good Indian place open after 10:30. This was my predicament last night, when my usual Indian place, Indus Valley, was closed. But luckily Curry and Kebab was still open, so I ordered from them. The people over the phone were really nice and friendly and when I went to pick up my order they were very sweet even though I was running a little late. I loved their samosa, it was probably my favorite part of the meal, and their naan, though a little thin in some places, had enough fluffy goodness to keep me happy. The portions were a good size too. I don’t think my chicken tikka masala was as good as at my usual place, but it was still very good. The whole thing was a good experience, but I have just one complaint: I ordered a mango lassi(yum, by the way) and they gave it to me in a little tupperwear container of the same kind used for my actual order, like it was a soup or something… what was up with that?

Oh man. I’ve just tasted the garlic naan so far and I’m already in love! I’ll be back to finish the review of my takeout when I’m done with dinner! YUM — — — - After dinner was over — Their naan was SO good, I’m going to have to try another one of their dishes before I make my final decision. Usually naan is a determining factor, ie good naan = amazing food to follow. In this case, the Lamb Briyani that I had was only decent. The lamb was not cooked well, which left me picking around it for the rice, which reminded me more of saffron flavored chinese fried rice than anything else. All in all, had the naan been bad I would have written this place off. However, I am going to assume for now that lamb must not be their thing. I’ll try Chicken Tikka Masala next time.
