Really loved this location. It was prime for after a night out for drinks. I was pretty sad to see it closed down when I walked by the other week. It was a railway type set up and at the end is the counter as well as a TV that you can play video games on while waiting for your order. There were a good number of seats on both sides of the walls. The only downside to this location was the fact that many of their customers were extremely drunk, like 90% of the time. So the place would get dirty and rowdy at times. Not sure why they closed down, however I hope they reopen somewhere in the area.

I love hot dogs and this was a great place to try. The hotdogs tasted great, not the Bologna type like Oscar Myers. It was hard for me to choose which crif dog to get, they all sounded so unique. I got the one that has cream cheese, onions and everything bagel toppings. I’ve never had a hotdog with cream cheese. It was tasty. My fiancé got the hotdog that pineapples and teriyaki stuff. Not my cup of tea but he enjoyed it. I also got cheese fries which surprisingly turned out to be waffle fries! Those tasted as expected. If I’m ever in the area I’m coming back to try other combinations.

I really did like this place a lot — quick and easy, and lots of delicious combinations of toppings. Best of all, the employees didn’t look at me like I was crazy when I asked for pickles on my hot dog. The keyword in this review is «did.» The last few times I’ve walked by Crif Dogs, it appears to be closed, but there are delivery bikes and chairs inside. I’m really hoping this place hasn’t already closed.

I would count myself as a hot dog connoisseur, one of my favorite childhood foods. I had been waiting to try crif dogs for a while. I ordered the chihuahua(bacon wrapped with guacamole and sour cream) with added jalapeños and a jersey’s finest(Taylor ham aka processed-meat-of-the– gods wrapped crif dog with onions, mustard, and chili) I was incredibly impressed with the variety of toppings I wish they had a few more different suggested dogs. I had never had a bacon wrapped dog before. Now I know what it is to live. The chihuahua dog was amazing! The guacamole was TERRIFIC and the crunch of the hot dog from the bacon wrap is out of this world. I would be giving all five stars but I had mixed feelings on my jerseys finest. The Taylor ham was oily and gave the dog no texture yet made the bun soggy. The chili overwhelmed everything. Be careful when you go, the restaurant itself is VERY small and fills up quickly. Definitely worth the trip especially if you love hot dogs.

Love love love hotdogs !!! And this place has the most unusual and great combinations !!! Great menu !! Wish they served beer !!! My only complaint is that they should warm or heat up the hotdog buns !!! Makes the whole thing taste so much better !

*cue the angel choir* I finally found a place in NYC that has Taylor Ham. #jerseymuch Crif Dogs has been on my list of places to try for months. To my pleasure, I found that they opened a location in the Village and I ran in. It took me a good five minutes to decide what I wanted, just because everything on the menu sounded so good. However, I had to get the Morning Jersey upon seeing that there was an egg and Taylor Ham involved. After five minutes of angst because I was so excited, it came out. The Taylor Ham was so crisp and wrapped around the succulent dog, and the egg oozed as I bit in. In seconds, it was gone, and I was as happy as a clam. I will definitely be back for another one because it is now my favorite hot dog. Plus, they have tater tots too!

Love hot dogs as well as Crif dogs, Good Morning is my fave. Tator Tots are just the right amount of crisp, southern style.

Had a dog Seattle style, with cream cheese and grilled onions. It was good. The«chef», who might be the owner, was eager to please.

Wish I could have this everyday. Went here around 4am during the weekend and there was actually an active crowd getting hot dogs. I don’t remember the name of the one I ordered, all I know is that the hot dog was wrapped in bacon and it tasted heavenly!!! Many may think that $ 6 for a hot dog is too much, but trust me when I say that these are the best hot dogs in the city.

Aite so I’ve been to several dawg places now and id have to say Crif was probably the best one in terms of toppings and types for sure. But still it wasn’t good enough to warrant 4 stars. When it comes down to it it’s simple ingredients on simple dogs. You can do it at home. But at the same time on real doe. The Good Morning was dope. Bacon wrapped dawg with a fried egg! Cmon! HOLLA! It was good but was it worth the price I paid? Eh not really. I really think these places gotta lower their price a bit, but pretty good food and nice staff.

So this is sort of a funny story. I lovelovelove Crif Dogs. I was at Café Wha? one night with my friend and we left to go in search of food. We stood on the corner for a moment, debating our options. Artichoke? No. Cafeteria? Too far. Crif Dogs?! You bet. We hailed a cab so we could get to St. Mark’s Place in a hurry. Cab pulls up, I open the door… and…BOOM. Like a mirage, a SECOND Crif Dogs(in Manhattan, the Brooklyn one has been around a while) was standing over me, brightly lit and inviting. I didn’t even know a second location had opened!!! We were so thrilled and slammed that taxi door and ran across the street. The guy behind the counter was pretty much the nicest guy ever. And funny. I got my usual, and they were some amazing dogs. I love the Chihuahua dog and there is something about avocado, sour cream and a bacon wrapped dog that just melts my stone cold heart. Side of cheesy tater tots and a second Jon-Jon Derago(cream cheese, scallions, everything bagel seeds later and I was stuffed. Obviously. I also wanted a beer but they don’t have their liquor licesne yet, which is sort of a bummer, but not really. We were told to go to the deli next door and grab some beers. This location is SO clutch. And the dogs are exactly the same as at the original. The tots may have been even better. And: NOLINE! Loads of seats! I’m sure that will change, but my goodness, I was so happy. And full. And tired. And now I am wanting more. This is probably my favorite food in the city. Hands down. Crif Dogs is a must.

I have tasted and I have experienced probably the one of the best crisp hotdogs right here at Crif Dogs. My friend and I were starving and stumbled upon this place and I was like I’VEHEARDAWESOMETHINGSABOUTTHISPLACE. Since it was late and we wanted a quick bite, we immediately decided to go in. The staff was nice and friendly — those traits are super important to you when you’re so irritable from the hunger pain. I ordered the chili dog. Although it’s quite pricey for just a wiener and some watery chili, the awesome texture of the dog made up for my slight annoyance. It wasn’t mushy, but had a bounce to it. WORDSCANNOTDESCRIBE!!! I wish the chili was a bit more chunkier, but that’s just my own preference! Overall, excellent experience here and WILLDEFINITELY try more of their various concoctions.

I’m in NYC, wanted to try Crif Dog. Tsunami dog has a bacon wrapped hotdog that I thought added more of a crispyness, not so much fattyness and is served with canned pineapple and chopped scallions. That’s it?! no magic secret sauce… ok, tried it and I’m ok with it, just another overpriced hotdog.

Couldn’t of picked a better location for Crif Dog’s third location. After grabbing a drink or five on Macdougal, come here and soak up that alcohol with some dope tasting tater tots(especially w/cheese) or one of their signature dogs. I usually go for the philly tubesteak in their east village location but decided to break old habits and went for the spicy redneck(house dog, bacon wrapped, chili, coleslaw and jalapenos. It’s a small shop with a long bar table on the left side that seats 8 but of course you can take your order to go if none are available. Décor has a somewhat surfer vibe but with skateboards hanging from the wall. Another great late night option if you’re feening for the sausage. wait what? — Open till 4am on Saturday

I am not a hot dog man at all. I think it all stems from an unfortunate experience in kindergarten when I lost my lunch in front of the entire class after a nasty cafeteria hot dog. So I’ve never been to any of the other popular Crif Dog locations, nor most of the other popular spots for dogs. I finally decided to give it a shot though when I saw this new location opening, as it has a bunch of great-sounding combos. Also, it didn’t hurt that I read that the first 500 customers today got a free hot dog. This new location is tiny, with a few stools lining the sides and just enough room in the middle for the line for ordering the food. I decided to go with the Lil’ Ma, which is a bacon-wrapped dog along with peanut butter, pickles and crushed potato chips($ 5.50). I actually had them hold the pickles so as not to be completely embarrassed by ordering the item meant for pregnant women. Also, the pickles part of that combo sounds like it would ruin the otherwise great ingredients. It turned out to be pretty delicious. I am a definite peanut butter man, so I find that anything with enough of it slathered on tastes pretty damn good. This one could in fact have used plenty more, as there was just a bit lining the bun. The crispness of the bacon was a nice touch, as were the crunchy, salty crushed potato chips. This was a great introduction to the otherwise potentially overwhelming/nausea-inducing(at least for me) menu. As with a burger, you must get some fries to go with your hot dog. In this case, make it the awesome Tater Tots($ 3.50 for a small, which gets you a big portion that’s more than enough). These were great — piping hot and very crispy. I was on my way for a few more lunches, so I wanted to keep it light, but you can also get them smothered in chili or cheese or both, which sounds even better. This is a great spot for a good, satisfying quick bite. It’s in a perfect location on Macdougal near a lot of the other drunk food spots(e.g. Mamoun’s, Artichoke Pizza, etc.), so keep it in mind if you want something new/different or the others are too crowded.
