Completely unstuffy, great wine selection, and a hundred times nicer than the wine and spirits store that it replaced. And the staff is super helpful when it comes to recommendations. My favorite place to buy wine in the neighborhood.

Very welcoming spot with a good variety comprising both standard selections and more unique finds, allowing them to hit a range of price points – in other words, you’ll find something good and maybe even try something new at a reasonable price, and not feel shady doing it (which, as UWS liquor stores go, is saying a lot!!!).

I would have given this wine and liquor store a solid three stars, but when I went up to the register this most recent time with an Oyster Bay bottle, the cashier noticed it wasn’t the very popular Sauvignon Blanc but their Chardonnay and asked if I was sure about my purchase. (The labels literally look the same!) I was really thankful for his noticing and asking. He certainly didn’t need to, and the bottle was the same price.
Sometimes it’s the little things.
Note that «Cork and Barrel» isn’t really listed anywhere on the outside, but it’s the only liquor store on the east side of this block.
