Lovely neighborhood spot. The tapas selection is good, interesting wine selection(love that they have quartinos!). Ambience is nice and cosy and the staff is friendly.

Great tapas restaurant on the UWS. I have yet to have a bad dish, or glass of wine at this restaurant. Great date location.

Bleh. Underwhelmed by this restaurant. The potatas bravas weren’t crispy enough. And I don’t think purple potatoes were a good choice for this dish. It just didn’t work. Both the garlic aioli and spicy tomato sauce were subpar. The Gambas al ajillo were way, way too oily and had no flavor! The hongos were actually inedible. The tortilla espanola was also bland. Didn’t even have salt. Disappointed in this restaurant, especially for the price we paid!

Buceo95 was one of the first tapas places I went to when I moved back to NYC and remains a place I’ve gone back to a few times. I’ve tried many things here, but I think the best are the tortilla espanola, patatas bravas, pulpo gallego, datiles, and bocadillo bisonte. The paella de mariscos was a bit disappointing and the pato a la plancha was on the dry side. I always get the sangria here which is pretty good and comes in different pitcher sizes. The seating can be a little tight, so like most of NYC you can’t be expecting to have an intimate private conversation. But the ambience is overall nice and not too loud. Would recommend if you’re on the UWS.

I can liken Buceo 95 to a dip in your neighborhood pool. It’s refreshing; a taste of Spain on an otherwise quiet neighborhood street. The attentive service starts with a generous helping of simple white bread accompanied with a mild olive oil. We started with the Pimientos de Padrón. As in Spain, some were spicy and others mild. Even though the restaurant was elbow to elbow full, I appreciated that the chef remembered to leave off the sea salt. The flavor of fish was softened with cream in the Croquetas de Bacalao. Next, we were all surprised by the cheese in the Piquillos Rellenos. Even without salt, my favorite was the skirt steak. The meat, tender and flavorful, was this Friday night’s winner!

Great food and staff! My favorite restaurant in NYC. I have been going to this place for years. I don’t even live in NYC anymore but every time I go back, this is my first stop once I land.

We were really looking forward to trying this spot. Walked in around 7pm on Friday, was busy but not super crowded. We stood there for a few minutes while multiple employees past by. Finally we stopped one and asked how long the wait would be. She said she would ask someone else. We waited, she never came back, so we asked another staff and she said, I have no idea and walked away. We waited for someone to help but no one did, even though multiple employees kept walking by. Very poor customer treatment. Maybe the food is incredible but unfortunately we did not get to try it. Very disappointing.

The BEST spicy margarita I have had yet! Served up with a spicy rim. Not too sweet, just the essential ingredients. I also loved the pistachio crushed mushrooms. Love this place for tapas.

I grew up in Spain, so I came to Buceo with expectations of how the food should be like . I found the food not too faithful to the Spanish original, pretty expensive and the place a bit tight space wise. The service was very good, ambiance nice. Now, to details. The wine was quite good and Spanish(got a Tempranillo), the sangria was tasty and not too sweet or liquor loaded and well balanced. We ordered pimientos Padron, those were perfect, but then is a simple recipe. The gambas(shrimp) al ajillo were not recognizable to me, a reddish tint to the oil and an avalanche of garlic that seemed added at the end of cooking so was overpowering, could not really taste the shrimp. The shrimp was not overcooked(yeah) but the dish was not piping hot as it should. The croquetas de bacalao(Cod) were not as tasty as they should be and had very little fish and a lot of filling. Was very starch-filled instead of having fish. They were small and oily. In short, not recommended. The cauliflower dish was interesting but swimming in cream, not very Spanish, more on the French side Finally Marcona almond ice cream for dessert. It was mixed with cherries and topped with liqueur, so I could not taste the almonds at all. In short, the food was not bad, but it was not truly Spanish but some sort of version of Spanish mixed with something so you lose that amazing simplicity of the Spanish cuisine

Heard good things about this place so decided to give it a try after work one night. Was very pleased with the bartender and staff. Friendly and attentive. I had a glass of white wine from Spain. Very light and refreshing. The food menu looks good and affordable. Will come back to try the food there. Very good date spot and the flowers in the restroom is a very nice touch.

Small place, yet they forget your order. How is that possible??? There are only so many Seats! Yet when we ordered the Paella, we were lied to repeatedly that it was on the way. It was never on the way, they never put it in. Shabby. Not a good way to make me feel comfy abt coming back

Been back a few times and time to upgrade to 4 stars. Seasoning can be a bit weak at times but overall notch or two above other tapas places.

Great Tapas! Goat cheese croquettes and the Bison Sliders are class. Loads of good wine but I enjoyed my beer from Barcelona. Will become a regular. Definitely intimate and we shared a table with another couple but it’s all part of the experience.

My friend made a brilliant statement regarding tapas. She loves them because she does not have to make a decision. This is so true. Three of us are through just about the entire vegetable portion of the menu, and all were delicious. Paired with some nice wine, it was a great meal on a long weekend away.

After a day of work on a Wednesday, I had a taste for red wine and pork belly. As I was in a clothing store near my job I logged on to Unilocal and allowed this site to guide me. I had several options but settled for Buceo 95 because I’m a fan of small plates and interesting concoctions. I started off with sangria because it was a familiar drink from the menu and because for some reason this restaurant didn’t seem like the type to disappoint with a true sangria. The sangria was perfect, tasty with limited fruit floating atop and the texture of the drink was smooth and mild. While sipping my sangria I ordered Croquetas de Queso de Cabra: a goat cheese corquette that is breaded and rested on smoked buckwheat honey with a carrot purée smeared around the rim of the plate(yummmmmmmy). The flavor of the goat cheese was tart and smooth and went well with the purée around the rim of the plate and honey. After that round, I ordered Cansalada Asado which is the pork belly :) with caramelized pearl onions and some sort of pepper paste topping. This dish did wonders to my mouth and soul. The pork belly was extremely flavorful, moist, tender, and just delectable aside the caramelized onion pearls and pepper paste. I had to make eye contact with the chef to let her know I really enjoyed the pork belly :) I also ordered a quartino of a medium red wine rather than a full red wine because I didn’t eat anything extremely rich. The ambiance was very romantic. I saw dates and couples while seated at the bar. The staff were very engaging and friendly. I would go back again to have the pork belly along with another dish with full wine!

5 stars for the food. I had to knock one star off for the seating. It was pretty awful. My travel buddy and I hit this spot up because we weren’t super hungry but we still wanted to have a dinner before we retired for the night. We had a little bit of a difficult time finding it because I found it on Unilocal and was looking for the name — But the restaurant itself doesn’t say Buceo 95 outside… It says«Tapas» though. Sort of weird. We went in and it was quite packed. They had several reserved tables and one in the corner. We took it but we had no room to sit… She kept getting hit by the door and I couldn’t get my legs under the table. I am not a very big person, so I can’t imagine who they thought they would be able to seat there comfortably. So we asked for another table and by this time other folks had left and they were able to accommodate us. We ordered 2 apps — An eggplant spread and the roasted cauliflower. The eggplant was good but the cauliflower was to die for! There were bits of I want to say pancetta and figs. I love figs! Since the food was so good, we decided on a getting the buffalo sliders as well. So juicy and delicious. The drinks here were super pricey. We ordered a «pitcher» of sangria, which was more like a third or a half of a pitcher.(I am thinking maybe 3 wine glasses worth of sangria.) It was okay sangria — They had apples in it and a few other fruits, but not particularly great. They brought around a roasted baby pig to show us, but apparently it was a special order thing that we couldn’t get unless we ordered in advance. That was a little sad because that looked sooooooo good! Oh well. Something to look forward to if I am ever in the area again. :)

The small pitcher of sangria @ $ 20 made my night. Or maybe because I had two, but it’s a really good sangria. I tried the quail wings. Very good also.(I’ve never tried quail before). The ambiance is intimate with low volume and candles. A group of us met here to catch up and it was perfect. Our server was Shannon and she was very sweet and attentive. Price for cocktails and food is a little steep here, but it’s understandable.

The Upper West Side does it again with yet another wonderful wine and tapas bar. I’ve been here twice now — once with a few friends and once on a date — both experiences were quite enjoyable(though, my wallet is not too pleased). This is a cozy, intimate spot that’s a must-try if you like classic Spanish tapas. One downside is the price — it’s easy to spend a LOT here without realizing it. The food is delicious, but I don’t think the price is consistent with the quality/portion sizes you get. But onto some highlights… Food: Between my two visits, I can speak to: –the Calamari(comes with roasted red pepper almond sauce that is delightful) –the Shrimp(pretty basic, very tasty) –the Brussels Sprouts(comes with currants that are delicious on their own and even better when paired with the brussels sprouts) –the Mushrooms(Decent but not the best mushrooms I’ve ever had — I’m a huge mushroom lover though, so I’ve ordered mushrooms at just about every tapas bar I’ve been to) –the Cumin Chicken Kabobs(nothing special, but not bad) –Grilled Baby Octopus(served w/lemon aleppo polenta, glazed celery, parsley oil — if you like octopus, this should definitely be on your radar, YUM) Wine: –Both times I’ve been here I’ve ordered medium-bodied reds. Couldn’t tell you the region or the name, but both were great. Service: Efficient and pleasant. Bartender was quick to refill both wine and water glasses and our food came out as quickly as it possibly could. Two thumbs up there. One more good note: The host here is very personable and will check in with your party once or twice throughout the night to make sure everything is going well. Definitely adds to the whole wine bar experience. Ambiance: Very intimate. It can get a bit loud during prime dining hours, but it mellows out around 9/9:30. And as friendly as this place is, between the food, wine and the occasional cramped table, probably not the best idea to bring along the kids for this one. Great for small groups and even better for dates.
