While i am glad they actually remembered to deliver my food with utensils this time, i cant tell if the dryness of the baked chicken was from being reheated in the microwave after being delivered barely warm or if that was the way it was prepared. Don’t bother putting in special requests because they’re ignored, I asked for no potatoes or carrots in my mixed vegetables and while i expected a few stragglers to make it along, i did not expect to throw out about half my meals weight worth of potato.

This place is such a great find. The food is delicious and really authentic – I imagine its something grandma would make over the holidays – the portions are huge, and the price is cheap. The ambiance is warm and friendly, and even though I don’t know Spanish and clearly was not from the neighborhood, I was treated like family. I tried the stewed chicken(delicious) with the black rice & beans. I definitely recommend the black rice, it was incredible! My boyfriend got the pork, which was also really good(though I preferred how flavorful my chicken was; not overpowering, just really, really good). They also had stewed goat, which they let me try when I said I never tried goat before, and that was delicious. If I didn’t already get the stewed chicken, I would have gone with that. We got two large plates of food with sides(chicken and rice, pork and rice), a big plate of veggies(sliced tomatoes, avocado, beets, and a plate of lettuce with corn in a delicious, light oil and vinegar dressing – there was a lot of everything), and two sodas, and it was $ 22($ 11/person!). I would have spent more on Chipotle and had something significantly less fresh and delicious. I found this place on a trip to the Cloisters, and I will definitely visit it every time I go back. It’s so good that I would even consider taking the train to Inwood just for it!

The food is delicious!!! Customer service there service sucks! In fact we rather order in than go over to the restaurant and not feel welcome if you are not Dominican.

OK. I’m not going to deduct ½ a star for a minor issue, I’ll give detail towards end of review. From the moment you walk into a food establishment you want to feel warmth, welcome and cleanliness. This place delivers on all. I went here with the purpose of getting some Dominican breakfast(Mangu w/eggs, no 3 golpes LOL) and I have to say as simple as Mangu sounds this place had one of the best I’ve tried, really. The price was fair also. The server was a pretty young lady which was friendly and a middle aged man which appeared to be the owner was very involved and asked if everything was fine a couple of times although the stay was very short. My only complaint is that I ordered a Mori-Soñando and although I saw fresh oranges it was made with Tropicana OJ and it was a little overpriced. It should either be a bigger container or go down especially if made with boxed juice. The reason I gave 5 stars is that I could’ve asked as well. Spoke to a man there for breakfast and he was praising the lunch served, his eyes were as if he couldn’t wait for 1pm to come, so I might be heading here later on as well

Ambiance: An absolutely lovely place. Everyone working and the customers act like family — friendly and lighthearted vibe. There’s plenty of seating, many sit alone or with a couple others with their plates of food. Food: Authentic, flavorful, mostly meat — wouldn’t recommend to a vegetarian unless you’re fine with rice and beans or veggies. I had the rice and beans and the catfish and all of it was tasty, got a huge portion for just $ 7. Could’ve fed me for two meals, but it was so tasty I ate it all. Definitely try out this place if you’re in the area and looking for some flavorful, hearty, and authentic cuisine in a friendly familial space!

What a find. Stopped here after a bike ride on the Greenway which is just down the street. Had an excellent homemade lunch of sauteed codfish with onions, rice, plaintain and beans. The chef has been cooking for thirty years. Richard and his wife were gracious hosts. They even gave us a complimentary coffee.

Small joint. Beef over rice and beans. Simple yet very filling. Place is hidden thought it was a bar at first. Good Spanish food.
