Caffe Buon Gusto

Last week, we returned to Café Buon Gusto once again. Only thing left to say, we will always return to this heavily delightful restaurant, which we can’t get enough from it. The food is divine! Thank you for having us again and looking forward to return soon. :-)

Great consistency and flavor on the homemade spinach gnocchi match the warm and accommodating staff at this hidden gem in UES. Do not sleep on this place.

Small hidden gem of the UES. Food is flavorful and bottles of wine are discounted on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. My wife frequent the place as we feel it’s the best bang for your buck.

Absolutely wonderful! My favorite Italian spot in my old hood. The service is alway great to exceptional and the food is always wonderful. Marcelo is the best — makes sure you have a perfect experience every time. I love the build your own pasta dish menu, the cheese & meat appetizer, and the perfect bread bowl (little pizza slices!).

Went here to dine with friends and we ordered shrimp cocktail, salmon pasta, arugula salad and crab ravioli which was very delicious. The server was very nice and gave us a complementary tiramisu and taught us not to put butter in our pasta hahaha. He was very pleasing and crack with us.

Very nice Italian restaurant. The grilled calamari, bruchetta melon, cake apps were very good. I’m glad we had a small group so I can sample a little bit of everything. For my main course I ordered the rigatoni carbonara. Prefectly cooked pasta, savory crème sauce with panchetta (sp?). Really hit the spot after a 4 hour fantasy baseball draft. The staff was AWESOME! Super friendly and serves to please. Great dining experience. Highly recommended if you’re ever in the upper eastside. Shenster 5 Star approved!

Very old school Italian food and very tasty! What I loved about this place is that you get to choose exactly what you want in your pasta. You can choose your pasta, sauce, meat, veges, cheese or anything else you want. The food was very good but I thought the service could have been faster (although I did go there on a Friday night so it was busy).
Will definitely come back.

Came here for the first time a week ago.
(Sometimes I am just really wanting Orecchiette & broccoli rabe w. sausage!)
It hit the spot– and for an affordable price as well; I believe my dish was $ 16.00.
The restaurant was quiet on a Sunday night, arrived at 6pm, and was seated immediately.
Didn’t order wine or dessert, and was in and out in ³⁰⁄₄₅ minutes. Boring, I know —
But props to them for the perfect turnaround!
Will most likely return for takeout, or to enjoy their HH with a girlfriend (½ off a bottle of wine: Sunday, Monday, & Tuesday … I believe?)

I wasn’t happy with my food. I order chicken soup but they send tortellini soup in chicken broth. An I got ricotta ravioli. Pasta was over cooked.

While the food is delicious the staff leaves much to be desired… actually not even the staff, but the floor manager/​host. I’ve never felt so unwelcome. We will not be returning.

I came here with a group of girls for my birthday and we had a great time. After studying abroad in Italy this restaurant made me feel like I was back in an authentic Italian restaurant. The food was amazing and very reasonably priced, the wait staff was very sweet– they gave us a free tiramisu for my birthday.

Wonderful experience with delicious food and excellent staff ! Would recommend ordering their homemade pasta with mushrooms and the chicken parm dish.

The best thing about this place is that they have 50% off on all wines Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. We had a very nice Montepulciano which came out to only $ 24.00.
We split an appetizer — the bocconcini — which was garnished with red pepper and dried figs. It was outstanding; really different and very nice. The mozzarella was very fresh.
My sister had a veal dish (very nice); I had the Orecchiette with Broccoli Rabe and Sausage — great.
Service was fine. Food came out fast. Prices are reasonable.

Great dependable neighborhood place that has been delivering for 27 years. The homemade pastas are very good and I love their salads. My Caesar salad tonight was crisp and coated with a nice citrus/​anchovy dressing. Half price bottles of pretty good wine make the experience even better.

Love this place! I have been coming here for years as well as ordering take out. Pick your pasta, pick your sauce and add your toppings! Recommend angel hair with vodka sauce, shrimp and mushrooms. Grilled calamari salad is wonderful. Love the portobello mushroom tower! Can’t go wrong!

Warm neighborhood feel with notable consistency.
I have been here numerous times while living in the Upper East Side over the past 4 years. Whether the occasion is a casual date night, taking visiting parents out to dinner, or celebrating a birthday with friends, I have learned to count on this restaurant for quality meals and attentive service.
This place can draw a crowd at night and on weekends given my experiences so I recommend making reservations — especially if you have a larger group. I thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere in the garden behind the restaurant, but inside is just as nice.
Some of my favorite menu options include the following: scallops and beef carpaccio for antipasti, apple and goat cheese salad, gnocchi bolognese (though you can’t go wrong with any of the pastas), and fra diavolo for the chicken and veal entrée.
I have no complaints regarding service. Hostesses, waiters/​waitresses, and managers have all been friendly and accommodating during my visits.
Looking forward to my next trip!

It was so good that after I was done I use the bread as a napkin and then 8 the bread. The staff was so nice and good looking my I add. I will definitely be having dinner here again.

Haven’t been in this place for years, nothing has been changed, same good quite Italian place.
The stuff is very nice and warm, the food was very good, the goat cheese salad was good the meat balls pasta great, good wine.
The only thing they need just to up date the decode.

Everything I have was delicious. The size was great, maybe too much for some people. But oh soo good.

First time i came here i LOved it.
But second time my meal was okay.
The restaurant atmosphere is great, but the food is basic italian. I am pretty picky after spending a lot of time learning italian culinary in Italy– so for me it is just an okay spot.
Good food, but no wow factor

Caffe Buon Gusto is a solid go-​to Italian restaurant in the UES. The food is very reliable — especially the salads and homemade pastas.
We have been here five or six times and have left pleased each team. It is a great spot if you are nearby, in the mood to go out to dinner, but do not want to spend much money.
The ambiance is quite nice and the service is attentive and pleasant. I would recommend the Insalata Mista and the Gnocci.

I’ve been wanting to try Buon Gusto since moving to the neighborhood, and a couple of nights ago, finally did.
It was way, way too nice to eat indoors, and we had noticed this place advertised an outdoor garden space. We asked to be seated there, and they walked us through the restaurant, through the kitchen, all the way through to the back, out the door into a lovely outdoor space that seemed very tucked away and cozy. There were vines growing up the walls and onto the wire that stretched overhead, twinkle lights above. It’s just a really sweet, pretty space.
We started with bruschetta, and then I had the homemade crab meat ravioli, and finished with crème brulee. Everything was just delicious, and the ravioli was out of this world. The crème brulee had the right amount of crunch and wasn’t too sweet.
The service was attentive and very friendly. I told the server what I was looking for in a wine, and he picked out something that complemented my meal perfectly.
Everything was great, I was very pleased and will definitely return. This will be my new Italian spot on the UES.

I heard of Bön Gusto by word of mouth. I assumed it would just be your everyday Italian and I’d leave pleased but not satisfied, but I was wrong.
Everything on the menu is home made. For an appetizer, I recommend the mussels and one of the salads. The arugula with goat cheese is really yummy. I prefer the entrees, like the chicken bon gusto and I always ask for a side of spinach. That’s usually my go to, but I’ve sampled a bunch of the pasta dishes, too, and none disappoint. I can also recommend the tiramisu if you’re craving dessert.
The place is great for dates, family dinners or catch ups with friends. There is a nice garden area in the back and you can request to sit back there. The restaurant looks super fancy when you walk in, but the vibe in the back is different and more casual. I also like that they take reservations — which just makes planning a nice night out a lot easier.

Lovely cozy restaurant. Surprisingly crowded on a Sunday evening.
Service was ok and nothing to complain about. I especially love their crab cake and pasta (Homemade Paglia and Fieno Salmon & Pappardelle pasta with mushroom).
Their dessert menu is quite boring. Overall, it’s a great place to satisfy your pasta cravings. I would definitely be back again.
