Nice little coffee spot. They froth the milk for regular coffee orders. I love that! The staff are very nice. Bagels are good. It’s a nice little neighborhood place.

I live in this building so visit several times per week over the past couple years. Best Hazelnut Coffee(and plain coffee). In addition, the pastries are always delicious and reasonably priced. The morning staff is friendly and work very well together in keeping the line moving quickly.

Coffee here is fantastic as they serve each cup like a misto, with steamed milk. The place is a bit small, though I was able to find a seat and type on my laptop with their free wifi.

Caffe basic has rude cashiers, baristas who take literally 5 minutes to make a bad latte, and«free wifi» that doesn’t work. Don’t come here. There’s Joe and Oslo nearby for 30 cents more on average for a better environment and infinitely better coffee

Love coming here on my lunch break for some coffee. Really decent prices too for a coffee shop on the UES. Their coffee cake is delicious, not too sweet or dry like most are.

Since moving to NYC this past October I do a coffee hop every sunday to see the city and to work on my freelance design clients, this was one of my stops. It was ok. No room to work, so I was super uncomfortable also the coffee tasted burnt. I had an ice coffee and kept having that bad after taste. I don’t think I’d go back, just wasn’t for me.

Coffee is great… But the staff is rude. They never smile. They act like I’m bothering them… And i come in often since i work around the neighborhood so its not just a one time thing. Makes me want to walk the extra blocks to Starbucks.

This is my go-to coffee shop near my office. Hands down, their coffee is great. I often stop in here before heading into work. They know how to make a delicious cup of coffee to get you going in the morning! Food wise, the pastries & yogurts are the best thing. They have amazing muffins in particular. I’ve had their pre-made mini bagels and lunch wraps as well. They aren’t the greatest, but taste as good as any other place that made the food the night before. Although I love the coffee here, this is not the kind of place I would want to hang out in. It’s not very cute or aesthetically pleasing, and it’s often pretty crowded and cramped.

Have gone a few times and the cappuccinos have been consistently good. Last time I was asked if I liked my cappuccino stronger or weaker. Excellent question and thank you for asking, Café Bacio. Hardly any other baristas do.

Coffee at this place is great. There’s not much room for seating, so I usually grab a coffee on the go. They sometimes add steamed milk when you ask for milk in your coffee, which turns regular coffee into a real treat(and it’s great on a cold winter day). This is a tiny, unassuming and relatively inexpensive shop, and I definitely prefer it to Starbucks. They also have great snacks, like adorable mini-bagels with lox or tuna. It makes the perfect snack when you’re on the run but need a little boost of energy.

Love the cappuccinos! A little small coffee shop might be bad for the cloister phobic.

I really forgot how much i liked the coffee at this place! I recently ordered just a small hazelnut coffee with milk. It was so good that you could swear it was a creamy latte. Add some cinnamon and it was my perfect morning drink! Yes, they have huge shakers of cinnamon and cocoa just ready for my drink. Love it. Any decent coffee under $ 2 has me sold! Quality and good prices along with fast service! Total winner! There are so many good coffee spots on the UES that Café Bacio had slipped my mind but now since ive been reminded, i will be back for more! One downside about this small café is the lack of seating and space to move around after you order you drink/muffin. You have to shuffle your way out among the people waiting on line when you want to leave.

You could easily pass this place if you’re not paying attention, but if you’re on the UES, hunt down Café Bacio! I’ve been going here for more than two years, and I haven’t been let down yet! They get incredibly busy in the morning, which can be frustrating when you’re running late or trying to meander your way out of the store, but the crowd is a very, very good thing. If there were no customers, wouldn’t you be concerned? The staff there is friendly and try to work as efficiently as possible to reduce the line and your wait. If you go in often enough, they’ll remember your order and start working on it as soon as they can. I’m one of those regulars, and my go-to drinks is their iced vanilla chai tea. It is amazeballs! I don’t care if it’s about $ 4.50 for a large because it’s one of the best chai teas in NYC. When you need a refreshing caffeine fix on a hot summer day, it hits the spot and then some. If you’re a Marymount Manhattan College student, staff, or faculty member, you get a 10% discount, FYI! Café Bacio is one of my favorite holes in the wall in Manhattan, and I’m going to miss it terribly when I move to Boston. When I pay visits to the Big Apple, this place is on my list of places to visit!

Cute little café/eatery on the UES. It’s always super packed in the morning with people on their way to work. i stopped in to get a hot chocolate which was delicious. However, the drinks there can be a bit pricey. I mean the guy selling hot drinks and pastries on the corner is just as good! And cheaper too. But yeah, they have sandwiches, muffins, pastries, smoothies and coffee/tea. It’s a nice place to stop by if you’re on the run and don’t want to be hassled by crazy busy Starbucks’.

I like this unassuming coffee shop. If you didn’t look twice you might miss it. But this little coffee stop is packed with consistently good caffeinated brews and fresh baked goodies to jump start your day. Service is fast, servers are always smiling. Ambiance is basic, warm shelter from the NYC winter cold or the summer heat waves.

I decided to give this place a shot since Starbucks always has an overabundance of customers to the point where it makes the experience somewhat unpleasant. Frankly, I’m a bit tired of waiting in a line that wraps around the store while nervously glancing around the room for an open seat. So as I walked by Café Bacio this morning I noticed many an open chair, which to some may have been a warning, but for someone who at that point in time valued open seats over popularity, I decided to stop in. I got a caffe latte and a wheat croissant. The latte, for me, was a bit too strong. I prefer a milkier version, but it wasn’t terrible. The croissant was actually quite good – nothing special – but a simple snack that reminded me of my time spent in Italy. And the open space was an amazing reprieve from the 30+ blocks I walked in search of that elusive Starbucks with any empty seat. Better prices too.

Oh dear. BAD coffee. Got a decaf iced coffee here and had to throw it away because it was so bitter. Hole in the wall place with a couple tables inside.

I don’t want to be «that person», BUT… I told myself to stop drinking so many iced chai lattes. It is really bad when you come to the realization that these are your main source of daily calcium. There are healthier, less sugary ways to achieve such health benefits. However, on my stroll to my U.E.S. office from the M98, I decided to stroll across East 71st Street to work(I needed to switch things up a bit), and this little place caught my eye. I glanced inside. They had iced chai! Ooooh… naughty, naughty Allie… I walked in. $ 4.25 for a 16 ounce small iced chai? *myeh* I knew right away that I should not, but… I did. Powdered«chai» that does not dissolve which caused me to suck up dried powder chunks at some points, too little milk, and a ton of ice. That is a Café Bacio iced chai. See? That’s some other-worldly power punishing me for getting chai. Hell, at Starbucks, at least $ 4.46 will get you a fairly delicious 24 ounce Venti. At least my money is, technically, better spent there. As for the rest of the store, there were pre-made and wrapped pastries, your usual coffee options, and a little bit of sitting room, which was admittedly nice. Still, I can say, with confidence, this is the first and last time I will be visiting this establishment. I love to support the little guys, but my consumer dollars are better spent at Starbucks, where, for iced chai at least, I’ll get the MUCH better bang for my buck.

I didn’t stay too long, so I don’t have enough to go on to say it’s 5 star worthy. But I loved being welcomed by the amazing smell of coffee. Coffee is obviously their thing, for they have lots of beans and different types of coffee drinks available. There are lots of baked goods piled in front of the cash register. There are non-coffee beverage options(e.g., Snapple, Vitamin Water) and some pre-packaged sandwiches, as well. I was surprised not to see any mention of tea. There’s a magazine rack full of a few months’ outdated magazines. Enough seating options, as well.

I don’t understand this place, what is it? Its more like a bodega. Also, what’s the definition of Caffe? More like Caffe see ya later. I see the letters on the store front. I see the big SWAK symbol as well. CB, you’re not kissing me after I left here today. This place has cold sodas and a limited selection of coffee. They have to offer in terms of baked goods, items that are wrapped up plastic. A good example would be slices of pound cake and muffins. There are no fresh ANYTHING available for purchase like Crumbs which is not too far away. If you want a cold water or a hot cup of coffee, you’ve arrived. Me? I’d like a nicer selection so I’m movin” out and leaving my two stars for you to kiss MY Bacio.
