Another visit and just as good as ever… it is an all round joy to visit this place. A truly professional enterprise with a finessed style which consistently turns out great food. The two of us enjoyed the ‘eggs prosciutto’ and the ‘Waffle’… The orange juice is always so fresh and the coffees are really great. We had a cappuccino and a Macchiato. I have a rich love for the total experience you get here. Simply wonderful…

I recently visited Buvette with one of my best friends. The hostess told us that the waiting time was 45 min. We said OK. She called us 15 minutes after, we were seated at the bar. Loved the atmosphere as always. This time I ordered the Croq’ Madame and a Cappuccino. My best friend decided to order the same. Everything was DELICIOUS as always. I noticed that the Croq Madame is now smaller than before. At least the taste hasn’t changed. Last time I was there I didn’t go to the restroom. This time I decided to go. The restroom was super clean. Is spacious and is downstairs.

Lots of cheesy goodness to be found here. I had the croque forestier and some of my friend’s whitefish spread and toasts. We also shared some tasty Brie. I want to return for brunch!

Came here with a friend and her boyfriend on Friday night, quite early(maybe around 6:30) and there was no wait, which was great. The space is very cozy, cute and rustic. The highlight of the meal by far was the charcuterie — we tried three different pates, all of which were phenomenal. In retrospect, we wish we had just ordered more of these to make a meal! We also ordered octopus salad(delicious), tomato salad(delicious), carrots(fine), and coq au vin(delicious). Nice atmosphere and a cute spot. Would be good for a date.

Bestie & I made our way back to Buvette for a Friday night nightcap — AKA two cappuccinos and a chocolate mousse to share. Besides the fact that they know how to make a good capp, their chocolate mousse is incredible! I can’t say I’ve had much chocolate mousse in my day, but this version is definitely denser than what you’d expect it to be like. It is so rich and velvety in flavor and texture; it pairs wonderfully with the light, fluffy whipped cream. The perfect chocolate dessert pour deux!

What a cute little French restaurant! We were lucky to have no wait when we arrived(no reservations), and sat out in the back in the patio. This spot is tiny– the tables are crammed back to back. We looked over their(tiny as well) menu, and decided to order the Jambon Cru steamed organic eggs and toast, the Croque with mushroom, gruyère, and herbs, as well as the steak tartare. The steak tartare had capers in it which I enjoyed, and the meat was marinated so well! Although this was already tasty, the mushroom croque and the jambon cru was by far the highlight of the meal. The creamy sauce used in the croque was to die for, and the steamed organic eggs had a unique texture that paired so perfectly with the prosciutto. Add an egg to the croque! I would highly recommend ordering these two dishes for sure! I feel like everything I ordered was amazing, and I could not have asked for a better meal! The dishes are on the smaller and pricer side though, but it is well worth it. I wish they had this café in LA, I still dream about the prosciutto egg dish!

Bestie and I have wanted to have brunch at Buvette for a very long time and we finally came around to it this past Saturday. The restaurant is nestled on a charming street in the West Village, a perfect fit for its petite French country style. We arrived around 1:30PM and we given a 45 minute wait which is no problem on a beautiful sunny day with plenty of stores in the area to browse in. We were seated at a very small table(mind you, everything in this restaurant is very small) and had asked to sit at the bar instead which deemed to be more comfortable. As lovely as all the cocktails looked with it’s swirling striped straws, we opted for the classic Bestie drink: un cappuccino. We ordered three plates to share: –the octopus salad(although it was a nice plate of refreshing and crisp flavors, we would have swapped this one out for their Nicoise salad) –steamed eggs avec chevre & sun-dried tomatoes(delicious medley of flavors, but the steamed eggs on this one were lacking it’s fluffy texture and the dish felt a bit watery/runny) –steamed eggs avec prosciutto(absolutely delicious, definitely a dish to get!) I would love to come back for dinner and end my evening with their delicious looking chocolate mousse!

A petite experience. Don’t go if your starving but the portions and quality were fantastic for me. Smart sophisticated staff and great support staff make it easy to relax. Food was flavorful and well presented. I wasn’t a big fan of the tiny cocktail fork as the only fork had to eat with but I understand what they are going for… An experience of the petite kind.

Went there for a dinner today. Below Average food and service(but edible food). Crammed seating. Your back and legs will hurt at the end of the meal because the seating is highly uncomfortable. What all crap do people put up with in the name of ‘old world charm’. I’ve had so much better at other French cafes or restaurants in NYC and other cities. If you are on a shoe string budget and have never been to any French café/restaurant, chances are you might like it. But if you have been exposed to decent French food, you’d find a big disappointment. Save your money and time.

Not crazy about the crammed seating*, but the food is delicious and worth the wait. Shared the Salade De Poulet, waffle sandwich, and Cr’q Forestier between 3 gals and loved each! My fav was the salad– the vinaigrette was deliciously lemony + chicken was moist + green beans perfectly cooked. I almost wish I had it all to myself. Cr’q Forestier was good because of gruyère + mushrooms. Super buttery and almost too rich, but the salad offset the richness. Waffle sandwich was just okay. *crammed seating: we shared a rectangular table with 2 other parties(a party of 3 to our right and a family of 4 to our left) and it was not comfortable. I wasn’t just elbow to elbow with the guy next to me; I was shoulder to shoulder.

The European vibe is very chic and classy. I usually am not a big sucker for ambiance, but this place feels special and quaint. I should warn you, it is fairly expensive for the portion size and simplicity of the dishes, but the quality is high. I came here for brunch with two others and didn’t have too much of a wait. The décor was charming and the staff was accommodating and friendly. However, our table was super tiny — likely more appropriate for just one individual or two really tiny individuals — but for three people, but we managed and only spilled one glass of water! We tried the avocado toast which was buttery and scrumptious. We also tried the waffle which was tiny but had fresh plump berries and tasty cream. The only thing which I thought was slightly odd was that they did not have nonfat milk!

Buvette has to be the closest thing to a genuine Parisian café that you can find in New York City, complete with classic French décor, a charming garden, and some of the nicest wait staff in town. This place touts incredible brunch and dinner menus, consisting of a variety of authentic small plates that make you forget you’re in Manhattan(the Belgian Waffle and the prosciutto scrambled eggs are local brunch favorites, with the rabbit confit being a clear winner of the dinner menu). All in all, while the menu is tremendously well executed, the true allure of Buvette is it’s textbook authenticism. The biggest complaint(as many reviewers have already pointed out) is that the space is very small and compact, with most of the tables being for just two people. Considering their no-reservations policy, getting a table without a meaningful wait is very difficult to come by(even during non-peak hours), and almost impossible during weekend brunch hours. With that said, the wait is usually very well worth it and tends to add to Buvette’s allure. A must go.

How can anyone give this place anything less than 5 stars!!? From the time I walked in and was seated at the bar, EVERYONE who worked there was so nice. I was wondering if I was really in NYC? I went there for Brunch and got the chicken salad. Let me say, the chicken breast was so tender, so juicy and SO flavorful. The chicken was on a bed of bib lettuce, with new potatoes, blanched green beans on top and the most flavorful salad dressing. I think there was horseradish in the dressing and it was fabulous. I got a side of french bread with olive oil drizzled on it and it was fantastic too — so fresh. I had two mimosa’s made with the freshest OJ I’ve ever had in NYC. Since I was sitting at the counter I saw them making the various sandwiches, from the waffle sandwich to the croque monsieur. I wanted to try everything !! That said, the salad was delicious and very filling. All the staff behind the counter were engaging and friendly, what a great experience.

We came here early-ish one Saturday, and it was already crowded! Really crowded(and a big line by the time we left). The steamed eggs are great! And so are the croissants. Fun, bustling atmosphere. We sat at the bar and had a good bloody mary and some surprisingly excellent coffee.

They don’t take reservations so make sure to time it early or go on slightly off times. We arrived around 1:00 pm on a Monday afternoon. It was a nice day so the outdoor patio was opened, which helped with additional seating. We were not able to sit outside, but there were two to three tables available inside. We lucked out and didn’t have to wait. Food: The menu was small, but everything except the Endivia salad was very good. The salad was good, but nothing special. I had the Steak Tartare that was delicious and a generous portion. The bread was amazing as well. For my entrée, I had the Cr’q Madame(classic ham, cheese(gruyère), & sunny-side egg), which was very good. This dish was on the smaller side. We also got the Omelette that was good, not great and small. We shared a bottle of red wine that was good and reasonably priced. Atmosphere: This place is very cute and cozy. Tables are close together and not a lot a room inside the restaurant. I love little restaurants like this in the village. The service was very attentive.

There’s so much to say… I do believe this place would run more smoothly if it took reservations. The fact that it doesnt, leaves me saying — OMG! It was a Saturday afternoon(2:30pm), after an afternoon at the Spa(Tribeca Tranquility Spa, see Review), and wanted to take my mom to Buvette. I had been trying to get us in there for a wholw year, but the opp never seemed to present itself until now. So we drove over, lucked out on a parking spot(which is near impossible on a Sunny Saturday afternoon. Upon walking up to the restaurant, I could see a crowd from the end of the block, ranging from parties of two up to four(over 14 ppl waiting). Why O’Why Buvette don’t you take reservations? Especially since the venue is an extremely small and narrow. There is a patio, but it was closed. After waiting over 90 minutes, we finally got a table. It was horrible a tiny little bistro style table tucked in a corner, next to the public’s coat hook and registers. Seeing that it took 90 mins to get this, we werent going to complain, even though the patron’s coat smelled terrible(dude, put your shyt in the dry cleaners ASAP!) But after a loooong wait, first thing was first, ordering a drink. The mimosas are so good, and mimosas arent really my thing. I prefer straight up champagne. But they use blood red oranges which give the drink a pretty color. And, the bloody mary’s are delish. The only thing missing was the celery stalk. The food was good; we weren’t looking for anything too heavy. We ordered the Poulpes Aux Olives, mustard vinegerette salad, and poached eggs. It was good. I would like to comeback again, next time for dinner. Until then, I will prep myself for the long grueling wait, and try not to arrive starving.

Hands down best brunch in Manhattan. Come early because they don’t take reservations. I came on a rainy saturday and waited 45 minutes to be seated– totally worth it. To drink: 1) Fresh squeezed blood orange juice– yes please! Was so good, asked for seconds. 2) Tea — comes with a kettle vs cup, can refill your own. 3) Rose wine– delicious, good selection of wines in general To eat: 1) Cr’q Madame classic ham, gruyère & sunny-side egg — this was a delicious dish! I would love to have it again, every day of the week. Just perfect, get this, NOW. 2) Belgian Waffle topped with berries — very delicious and comes in a big portion. Big fan here. 3) Poulpes Aux Olives octopus salad with celery & olives — enjoyed this very much, flavorful and a good little dish to share. 4) Salade De Poulet roasted chicken, haricots verts & potatoes in mustard vinaigrette– this was perhaps my favorite item. The salad had a perfect balance of flavor and was overall a very healthy selection. For those who prefer more lunch-y items at brunch, this would be a great pick. 5) Multi-Grain smashed avocado, cucumbers & spiced yogurt — great addition to any meal.

Came here for a Sunday brunch on a sunny spring morning. Located off of Bleecker street, Buvette is picture perfect and looks like it belongs on a stone street in Paris. My best friends who have an apartment in Paris have always said this is their favorite place for breakfast in the city. We were quoted 45 minutes for the wait but it ended up being about 20 minutes. The inside is cramped and you are guaranteed to be sitting on top of your neighbors, but this offers the perfect chance to size up dishes before you order. They are known for their steamed eggs. We ordered them with prosciutto and sans toast, as it had been a carb rich weekend. The eggs were cheesy and fluffy, just how I like them. Chicken salad was with rotisserie chicken and green beans and potatoes, simple but good. The sandwiches look ridiculous so next time I would try the croque monsieur!

Went to Buvette with my husband this past weekend. We were there at 8AM to make sure we could get in. By 8:30 the place was packed so make sure to be there early. The place is VERY small. Tiny table, tiny chairs. Not the most comfortable place to eat, but a beautiful space nonetheless. I ordered a mimosa, and my H a orange juice. Both were excellent. REALORANGEJUICEANDGOODCHAMPAGNE. So worth the price! I had the steamed eggs with prosciutto and shaved Parmesan. Hubby had the Croque Madame. Worth were great but the Croque Madame was AMAZING. Definitely better than mind and I ended up eating all of his. In the end, it’s a good place to go on a date or with a friend(not a group), solid choice for a quick and simple breakfast brunch and you end up paying for quality. Will definitely be back.

3.5 — Buvette is a quaint little French café with an old world feel, but if you have ever wondered what it would be like to eat in a doll house, this is the place! Everything is miniature. The restaurant is narrow and long so to squeeze as many tables as possible, they made them fit for a child. As a result, the place settings are sized accordingly. The plate is tiny, the fork is tiny, the knife is tiny, my glass was a little bigger than a shot glass. The tables are also very close together so I had to delicately squeeze between the tables to get to my seat. If you have a big butt, you better watch yourself. After scanning the itty bitty menu, I decided to go with the Croque Madame which was a very comforting dish. Essentially toast with melted gruyère, proscuitto, and i believe béchamel sauce, topped with a sunny side egg — the quintessential French brunch dish. i’ve had my share of Croque Madames and this one was sinfully good. My only gripe, you guessed it, the size. The portion is similar to what I give my toddler. If it was perhaps 1⁄3 bigger, it would have been perfect. I also shared a berry scone which was very delicious with the buttery spread. Typically I find scones dry, but this one was just right. I spent more than I would typically spend for a weekday lunch, but b/c it’s French I let it go. The service is pleasant and fairly quick. Despite feeling like a giant, it’s actually a nice place to brunch with girlfriend(s).

The ambiance was cute, clean, and cozy! But… the space was so small, just a little too cramped for comfort. The charcuterie and food was okay. The charcuterie was nothing extraordinary, and overpriced. But, the bread was delicious that came with the charcuterie! The steak tartare was good, but not great. And the Brussel sprouts didn’t have much going on with it, it was essentially a raw vege dish with minimal flavor. and overall overpriced given how plain it was. But, the service and the ambiance was still pleasant. But not worth it for the food :/

I love NYC and can’t wait to be back there. Buvette is certainly one of the reasons. My friend and I came here for breakfast on a chilly Sunday morning and the place was packed. We lucked out and got two last seats at the bar. Everything about our Buvette experience was outstanding. Service: Friendly, prompt, unpretentious. Sitting at the bar, we witnessed how hectic things were getting with the full house and how hard bartenders and wait staff worked. Food: We started off with freshly squeezed orange juice. Absolutely heavenly! My friend had eggs with prosciutto and shaved parmesan and absolutely loved it. I got eggs with goat cheese and sun dried cherry tomatoes, which were light yet creamy and most certainly delicious as well. We finished off with whole wheat and currents scone and cappuccino, and that was the most amazing combination for the perfect breakfast. Ambiance: Fun, relaxed, cozy, European. Everything I love and can’t wait to experience again soon.

I’ve been wanting to come here for about a year now but never wanted to wait as I always see people outside waiting for their tables. Now I know why !!! Such a quaint little french restaurant in the west village. Tables are super close together, portions are small European size but everything is so tasy and unique. I arrived around 2pm on a Sunday and the woman inside said about a one hour wait(no reservations). I debated going somewhere else but was not starving and it was pretty warm out so decided to wait it out. Lucikly 40 minutes later two spots opened up at the bar. Right behind the bar are people cooking the croque monsieurs, frying up some eggs and bacon. I ordered a cappucino which was delicious and super creamy. Then I had the waffle sandwich with a fried egg on top which was SODELICIOUS. I really want to come back and try everything else !!!

I’ve been wanting to come here for several years now as I’m a huge French food & wine fan, but never had a chance given the 1 – 2 hour waits. Well, I finally got my chance, thanks to the Blizzard that hit NYC this month. Unfortunately, it’s because of the same blizzard that we didn’t get there in time to make brunch, so had to settle for the late afternoon/pre-dinner menu. That being said, it was still excellent! Wines were all French and all awesome. We ordered: Bourgueil– Chanteleuserie(Cab Franc) — one of my favorite French Reds — perfect scents of bell pepper and tastes of barnyard. Bordeaux– Saint Julian(Cab Sauvignon) — usually not a huge Bordeaux guy, but this one was excellent and we really enjoyed it. Tartinette of Prosciutto, Parmesan & Sage drizzled with 10yr Old Balsamic– holy crap this was so decadent and tasty. Octopus Salad with Celery & Onions– seems like they gave us a full baby octopus. So fresh, so tender and so delicious. Steak Tartare– the waiter said this was what Buvette is known for, and having only had it a few times, I was a little skeptical. But since this place oozed French, I figured it would be a good bet. Turns out I won that gamble. The tartare was just awesome. The only place I have had it where it was better was Gramercy Tavern(but that place is on another level as it’s a Michelin Star rated restaurant). The ambiance is so cozy during the daylight and sexy as it starts to get dark, the decorations and the huge France Wine Map are so cool, just an overall great vibe. Highly recommend this place, but just make sure to get here early or late, or else you’ll get crushed with a 2-hour wait! But just come, I promise, I wouldn’t do you wrong!

A+ service, A+ food, A+ restaurant. Came here for brunch when I was visiting New York per a friend’s recommendation and wow was I amazed. We arrived around 10AM on a weekday, so there wasn’t much of a wait — we were seated instantly. The only downside is that the interior is a bit cramped, not leaving much room for… anything. The employees are all very sweet and accommodating and help you out of your coat, hang it up, and bring it back for you at the end! My friend and I decided to share everything — the Belgian waffles with fruit, prosciutto & eggs, and the mouthwatering special(which is currently making me drool, ugh) — the duck confit hash. The presentation of all the dishes was very photo-friendly and aesthetically appealing. We greatly enjoyed the duck confit hash. Easily my favorite dish, especially with a bit of Tabasco sauce. Definitely praying that it’s on the menu the next time I find myself in New York. The Belgian waffles were yummy and the fruit went well with it, of course. The prosciutto & eggs however were mediocre at best, but I think it’s because the duck confit hash was just so amazing. I also had a glass of orange juice, which was freshly squeezed and oh so delicious. My friend had some coffee, which she said was wonderful. All in all, Buvette has a new fan. I would say loyal customer but I ain’t from NY…
