This place is definitely underrated. Came for brunch this past weekend and walked in without checking the Unilocal reviews. I think I make better discoveries that way. The atmosphere was really nice — a country café sort of feel. There weren’t noisy crowds to deal with like most other brunch spots in the city, and the food was pretty good. I got Le Burger, which came with a mountain of fries and a side salad. The burger, medium well, really hit the spot and the thin cut fries(seasoned with rosemarie I think) paired perfectly with it. Contrary to the other reviews, I thought the service was fine.

Had an awful experience here on New Year’s Eve. I have been to AOC many times. The food is often good — but it is a bit hit and miss. The service that night was unacceptable. Our waiter — and the rest of the staff were so busy partying and taking selfies that they forgot to wait on the tables. We waited over 20 minutes to order and another 20 for an endive salad. After 2 bites we decided to send it back. It had virtually no blue cheese or dressing and it was just not appetizing. For 15 minutes we tried to flag down our waiter. Finally the entrees arrived. My roast chicken was dry and had little taste. It had obviously been sitting under the heating lamps for a while. We never saw our waiter again except as he made his way through the dining room taking photos with other tables. He completely ignored us — I couldn’t even get a second glass of wine. I’m sorry to add this, but the busboy had such horrible body odor that my friend and I both covered our faces with our napkins every time he passed by. It was so offensive, I can’t understand how the other staff and management could tolerate it. Let me say — I realize it was New Year’s Eve and everyone was in a party mood. The problem if the staff’s party mood made our experience lousy. We wanted to have a good time too!

I’ve been here several times before but this experience was very bad. I ordered the foie gras and it wasn’t as good as it has been before and they did not add rock salt. The salmon was decent but not great . — Our waiter had an accent so thick no one at the table could understand what he said. — They brought our entrees when we still had appetizers on the table and looked at us as if he was unaware of what to do. I finally said you may want to take our plates before you place new ones on the table. — I asked for my salmon rare and they brought it well done. The waitress said she would make another one. When she brought the new piece it was nearly half the size of the old one but I didn’t say anything because at least it was rare. — The person who filled our water glasses smelled so foul you could smell him from across the room. It’s sad because it has a nice atmosphere in a great location.

The food is good and the service is decent. We went on a holiday and they were really trying hard to please. I loved my eggs with a touch of truffles. The coffee was perfect.

This place is super cute and the staff is nice. Unfortunately the food was such a disappointment. Just very boring. Both the look of it and the taste. You can def get way better French food in NY than this.

A nice quiet lunch place with a couple friends. Drinks were awesome, a bit of a limited menu. Unfortunately the special was lobster soup — a friend ordered it, was sadly unsatisfied with such a small portion and with no bread! The black linguini seafood and lamb sandwich(not the actual names :)) were pretty bangin’ though. .

Had a reservation for 7:30 on Christmas Day and we were early. We sat at the bar and gave the hostess our name and we waited. Then at 7:30 I asked if our table was ready and I think I surprised her. She forgot about us. Then she sat us in the back room that was wet! Very wet floors and chairs. That’s when we left and went to Village Prime. Save your time and money and DON’T go to AOC!

We came here on a rainy day before Christmas. We have a voucher bought from living social. It came with 1 choice of appetizer, 2 glasses of wine, 2 choices of entres, 2 choices of dessert. All for $ 58, great deal! So we chose oyster for appertizer, duck and hanger steak for our 2 entres, crème brûlée and chocolate moose for desert. The oyster was very deleicious. However, our entres were just ok. My duck confit was a little salty. Deserts were awsome. I love them both, the crème brûlée and chocolate moose. Our server was nice and polite. The restaurant is cozy and friendly.

A.O.C. is a charming French bistro in the West Village, with an awesome Happy Hour($ 5 glasses of wine until 7pm). My Book Club read a Parisian novella, so this was a perfect spot to talk about the book’s drama, humor and romance. We started with the Mac & Cheese, a dish that is quickly becoming my «go to» at every restaurant. It was delicious with a crispy baked topping. And for my entrée, I opted for the Seafood Puff Pastry, which included shrimp, scallops and mussels in a cream sauce over a bed of spinach, all in a light pastry shell. I understand they have a cute backyard area, and I can’t wait to come back in the springtime.

My friend and I found ourselves on Bleecker street around dinner time and were looking for someplace to go. We saw AOC and noticed that they had an outdoor space in the back and since it was 70 degress in November(CRAZY!) we decided to go there. It’s super cute, and the outdoor space is pretty big. There was only one other table filled outside when we got there, but they the time we left it was pretty packed. My friend and I were kind of debating on having the same things, so we decided to share. We started with the smaller portion(sans fries) of mussels in the white wine sauce and were going to share the seafood pasta as our main. The mussels were a good sized portion, and so good! We finished the whole thing, and used the bread to soak up the white wine sauce left over, again, so good! The pasta was really good too. It was black pasta and there were shrimps, clams and mussels in it. It might have been a bit big for one person(or maybe not) but sharing was perfect and we finished that too. Then we couldn’t not look at the dessert menu. We shared the chocolate mousse, which again was really good! We really lucked out with the weather, it was so nice to be able to eat there outside. Also I thought everything was really reasonably priced. After sharing an app, a main and dessert plus a glass of wine each it was under $ 50 a person with tip. Definitely not bad! Would love to come back again.

We enjoyed our dinner here, the place has a Parisian café feel and they play good music(Tom Jones, Bobby Darin…) They served us the seafood risotto instead of the seafood pastry dish that my wife actually ordered but we didn’t say anything as it was still very good. Service was otherwise ok and the wine good. The mix of languages made me laugh, French from the host and Spanish from the waiters! Based on my experience some of the other reviews on here seem harsh. It’s worth a visit for a friendly, easy-going, tasty, quasi French/American meal.

AOC is like a taste of Home(and I’m french), delicious french food with a various menu items. Now they even have a crazy happy hour at the bar, with $ 5 dishes and glass of house wine. Bartender is super friendly and attentive about the service. The best place to have a romantic date at the bar, a brunch with your friends in the garden, or even celebrate your birthday in the back room.

We have been to this place 3 or 4 times in the past year for weekend brunch. We always take advantage of their weekend special $ 1.00 oysters at the bar. We start our with a dozen each with a glass of white wine. Then we split one of the egg dishes. Oysters sometimes before noon may sound strange, they are cold and very fresh and a real treat. The bartender has been the same guy all the time we have been there and the last few times he remembered us. Always nice. This place fills up for weekend brunch at about 11:30 and stays busy all day.

Don’t get a table next to the garden area unless you like mice! It’s disgusting to have dinner and to see this animals running in the garden.

Wasn’t impressed. +1 star for the outdoor seating, cute atmosphere. +1 star because the meal was okay, although I didn’t feel that it was anything to write home about. Went here last night for dinner. Service was HORRIBLE. Place wasn’t packed at all, although it did look as though they were understaffed. Wasn’t sure if the bread basket contained actual bread or rocks inside of it. It took about 20 minutes to get someone to take the drink order. I figured I’d order then because it would be another 20 – 30 minutes til I saw him again. After ordering the waiter had to come back 2 – 3 times to confirm what was ordered, although I don’t understand what was so complex about the order since it was something already on the menu and there were no substitutions made. I won’t be back. Too many other cute restaurants in the neighborhood to chose from.

Arrived here at 10:30pm on Friday night, and the restaurant was slowly winding down. Ask to be seated outside, it’s a lovely atmosphere(romantic, fresh air, garden like). Eek! There were 2 little mice in the corner, gobbling up crumbs, but this is NYC. Ordered the calamari appetizer, which was tasty. The house wines(red and white) were basic. The main dishes were excellent. The coq au vin had the rich wine flavor, and only used dark meat. The pork chop was well cooked, the string beans were crunchy, and the mushroom sauce was incredible. Why only 4? Service was terrible: saw our waiter twice(take the order, bring the check) and we often found ourselves asking the bus boy for assistance. At around 11:50, everyone was cleaning up amongst the 3 tables remaining. Our water was never refilled, so it was frustrating to see their staff closing up, when their actual customers were not attended to.

Came here for a late dinner after going to see a play at the Cherry Lane theatre. On a Thursday(around 10ish), there wasnt a wait for a table. We tried fried calamari to start, steak & pomme frites, as well as vegetable risotto. The food was all very good and the portions were much larger than I had thought. The risotto rice was even larger grain than I was used to, and so filling I could barely finish. There’s a nice authentic french bistro vibe, and the wait staff was attentive and nice. As a funny note, we ordered two glasses of the same red wine and it came in two different sized glasses for the same price :-) Odd! Nice location, decent restaurant.

When my friend and I walked by this place and I saw a sign that said $ 1 raw oysters at the bar, I was like«yes please». We hopped in and asked the waiter, we saw the sign, is eating on the table, the same price as eating at the bar. Waiter said no. At the table the oyster will cost triple the price. So we opted for the stool bar seating instead. And so glad we did. It was one of the most enjoyable bar side dining lunch I have had to date. The bartender/server was quite nice and gave off a friendly vibe. If you all know me, I am one of those snobbish high class sit and dine type of gal. So it was quite to my surprise that I had enjoyed bar side. Anyways back to the food review… I ordered 12 raw oysters and my friend ordered 6. We also got the small mussels pot to share(which was not small at all… had like 24 mussels inside). They also had a large mussels pot which is a third of the size bigger said the bartender. My friend also ordered a drink, which she said she liked. My other friend came and he ordered a side of french fries. The raw oysters were delicious. The mussel pot was good but not great. The french fries with spicy mayo dipping sauce was also delicious. I would definitely go back again for the oysters and so should you. With $ 1 raw oysters how can you go wrong. Best lunch for the value in the city. My star rating is 3.5 stars and its just for my review of the oyster and mussels in this french theme restaurant.

The good: not having to wait 2 hours for some coffee-steamed eggs and prosciutto at Buvette next door(not that I’m still bitter at ridiculous brunch wait times). Also, the French bread that did not tear up the roof of my mouth. The very good: I was in an uncharacteristically red meat-craving mood so I went for the slightly unorthodox hamburger. Bun held up well, patty was a little bit on the dry side, and I ate all of the greens because all that cow needed some roughage to balance things out. My friend’s salmon benedict eggs was the clear winner of brunch, though. The not so good: service was slow. I think I’m too much of a frenetic New Yorker who can’t stop to smell the roses and would literally shrivel up in Paris where people actually pause and savor life, but everything took a long time. We had to ask to see the menus, we had to flag the waiter down to take our order, another waiter strutted over with our plates like he was walking for Dior(have you ever seen someone walk with their hips first — it’s kind of magical), and we had to flag down someone again for our check. Great if you have an afternoon to kill but if you’re in any kind of rush … well, you are not in the right place to begin with. I’d want to come back to eat my fill of the dollar oysters!

Unscheinbares französisches Restaurant in Greenwich village.
