After placing a order we received a phone call telling us they basically didn’t have half of our order. We tried substituting items like an apple danish instead of a cherry danish but they also couldn’t do that. We asked could we have a different flavour of pie instead of cherry pie and the response«We have no pie» I ask then if we could get a large coffee instead of the pie as we had already paid. They had no idea we had even ordered a coffee with the order. Out of a $ 50 order they had about $ 10 worth of the items we ordered. They are rude, unhelpful and clearly not very well stocked. Save yourself time and go find somewhere better.

Not impressed at all. Overpriced and was not satisfied with what I got. Unfortunately I didn’t listen to Unilocalers and thought that maybe i should give this place a shot. Bad, Bad idea. I just wanted cupcakes for crying out loud and even that was bad. I should’ve just skipped desert. This place sucks. Never again.

I thought this place was called Crumbcake Café but whatever. I don’t even know. Anyways everything here is average. I came from a gallery opening and was a bit hungry, so I decided to stop in to get a dessert before heading home. The cannoli I got wasn’t that bad at all, just okay, but the service was super lackluster. They acted so nonchalant and took forever to recognize that there were customers waiting to order. When the product is less than perfect, service is everything. Probably won’t return.

I have to say, I’m a little surprised by all the negative reviews on here. I will caveat that the few times I have been here I was not the one paying, so I did not pay attention to the prices. Other than that, I really enjoy everything I have tried here. Their lunch sandwiches and breakfast sandwiches are equally tasty, and their baked goods are amooozing. The pecan pie is just like my grandmother used to make it. MMMMM

I happened upon Breadstix by chance. My friend and I were wandering about and saw your sign. I suggested we go in and probably should have asked a few more questions and left before ordering. Bagel with cream cheese has a price, «w/lox» is under this selection without a price. I ordered a bagel with salmon AND cream cheese. I received a bagel with cream cheese that had the scarcest bit of salmon in it. When I tried to explain that is not what I ordered, the person behind the counter informed me what I was asking for is roughly $ 15… I looked at the menu again and didn’t see this difference under the«bagel w/lox» option. Again: no price listed there. And he was rude about it, which I didn’t appreciate. You can get better breakfast fare and coffee elsewhere for cheaper. I suggest avoiding this place.

I must say the display of baked goods in the front window is definitely a bate for customers to see what this Café has to offer. Located right on the corner of 24th and 8th avenue, you can’t miss this shop. Especially if you are getting on or off the C or E train. I stopped in after a free movie shown in Chelsie Piers. It was about 11pm and many shops in the area were closed. I really needed to eat before I headed on my hour ride home. I decided to give this place a try. It always has hipsters hanging out drinking coffee and/or eating a panini when I pass it. I tried a Panini. Patrami, Swiss, and mustard. I forgot what it was called. I waited approximately 10 minutes for my order and was a bit disappointed when I got it. I was charged almost $ 10!!! for this panini! So I looked inside the carton to see if it was a huge hoggie or something like from KATZ Deli. No! it was 3 little pieces and they threw in a 25 cent size bag of chips. Whoopty-do! I ended up giving the chips to a homeless person on the train. I wanted to tell him those chips were worth $ 5 because the Panini wasn’t worth more than that. A complete waste of money. I would, however, try it our again. It is a café after all. Maybe my expectations were a bit too high. I’ll go back and try the coffee :-)

It’s a well-lit clean space with a glass counter showcasing an assortment of mouthwatering desserts. The wait was a little long for my grilled chicken club sandwich with fries. But it was around the lunch rush. It’s a comfortable place that offers fresh, tasty grub. I passed on the tempting tarts, cookies, cake slices, and brownies that were eyeing me(or was I staring?) I’ll definitely be back for lunch… or just something sweet.

My friends and I wandered into Breadstix in search of a light lunch. Though the prices were a bit higher than what we are used to, the workers behind the counter were friendly and attentive. The wait-time was short as we were able to order soon after arriving, and our food was ready quickly as well. Between the three of us, we had an omelette, a banana, a panini, and a sandwich(though I cannot recall which panini and sandwich they consumed). We had no complaints from our actual meals and thought the portion sizes were decent. The food was not extremely impressive, but it was edible and certainly met our needs. The place is not very big, so do not plan to sit if you come in with a big party — each table is built for two. Because there was not a huge crowd, we were able to place two tables together without issue. There is a sign on the wall stating that there is a minimum $ 10 charge if you use a credit card, so if you plan to pick up only a snack make sure you bring cash!

All I wanted was some juice. Don’t go in there if you don’t have cash. Minimum is $ 10. I’m not a huge fan of this place.

Don’t go there late at night if you appreciate your life. I took a can of soda from the counter, and left $ 3 on the table. When I was leaving the café, one of the attendants came to me and threatened me with a knife for not having paid at the register. I started calling the police and that sent him back inside… Great service!

Do not order from this place! The management is rude and refused to a complaint. I simply wanted my money returned for a Strawberry shortcake that came with a hair baked inside of it. The manager did not want to hear anything about this which I find ridiculous. As a new york city café – you would think customer satisfaction would be of high priority, especially considering the high rate of business FAILURE. The mAnager simply stated if I returned money to everyone who complained I would be out of business – if there was some kind of an apology, it may have been better – however this is unacceptable no matter how you look at it. The cheesecake also came frozen, which in my opinion takes away from the delight of cheesecake. DONOTORDERFROMHERE.

This place is pretty mediocre, but when you can’t decide what to eat and you just need to freakin’ eat SOMETHING, you go to Breadstix. But only because it’s right there. The paninis and pastries all look like they’ve been sitting there for four days. Everything you can order is slightly overpriced and slightly underwhelming. But if you just need a quick bite, it gets the job done.

I knew my lunch would be only moderately good when I walked in and two police officers were yelling at homeless man who had taken up a temporary home at this café. A small verbal altercation ensued that escalated to chair shoving and eventually the police escorted the man out. Yet, for some reason still unbeknownst to me, I ordered an egg, cheese, and ham sandwich on sourdough bread along with some juice. I received all of that except for the ham. Do they not realize meat costs more and is DELICIOUS? I walk back over to the counter and ask about the location of my meat and the cooks, who struggled understanding me, simply started making me another sandwich. I told them I really just needed a piece of ham to be happy. Instead, I took the proper sandwich and received dirty glares from the employee who was on break sitting nearby. Sorry I wanted what I ordered and for which I paid more. Everything was bland. It was expensive. The whole menu was expensive and while the bakery items looked good, the place just felt a little too dirty to be worthy of more of my money. Also, I did run the risk of another police encounter and just did not feel like it. Meh.

In continuance of my search for acceptable lunch delivery in Chelsea, I happened upon the lure of Breadstix Café* while hungrily web surfing. I looked at the menu and something** drew me to a Cuban. Yes, it was a Cuban panini, but I figured how is it possible to screw up a Cuban sandwich?*** Really, how? According to The Bible(Wikipedia), the sandwich is made with ham, roasted pork, Swiss cheese, pickles, mustard, and sometimes salami on Cuban bread. Please remember this… I open my delivery box to see a three-way cut pita and an assortment of potato chips. A professional high school debate team are the only people who could make a credible argument that this was a) a panini, b) pressed in between two hot things or c) good looking. It was none of these. I know I should go to a Cuban place for a Cuban, but these are easy to make even with pita bread. My «Cuban panini» from Breadstix Café had pita bread, possibly pork, cheese and that is it. There was a trace of one cut of a small bread and butter pickle and no mustard at all. There was only one meat substance, not the traditional pork and ham. I expected very little, but I at least expected the core ingredients and the mustard. So please do not advertise a Cuban anything if you are going to leave out 2 – 3 of the most important ingredients. On the bright side, I ate the whole thing and did not throw up. ___________________ * There was no lure whatsoever, I was just tired of ordering from the same two places so I decided to venture into uncharted territory — this was a mistake. ** Whatever part of my brain this was that went this way has been forever shunned. *** I am such a dumb-ass.

The lure of an illuminated dessert display counter is hard to pass up after a few hours of drinking. Glad we didn’t pass up a chance to try out some tasty, yet totally unnecessary, pastries after a night in Chelsea. Tiramisu, excellent. Chocolate mousse cheesecake, super tasty. Chocolate mousse cake, meh. Prices seemed a little on the steep side, but we’re tourists so don’t go by my word on what’s expensive in Manhattan.

Came here for a quick sweet treat and thought it was good. I had the chocolate cheesecake and it was quite tasty. The only thing I didn’t like was the little blob of frosting on the top that was basically a hard sugar cube-gross! BUT, the cake itself was delicious. My friend had a raspberry tart and loved it. She said it was one of the best tarts she has had. This place had a wide variety on their menu– everything from sandwiches, to salads, to desserts, to omelets. Everything looked decent. I would try it again if I’m in the area and starving!

I was staying at the Chelsea and needed something to eat late and close by. As this was on the corner, and looked pretty respectable on the outside I thought it’d be a good choice. now, maybe you can blame the late hour I went there, but my grilled veggie wrap wasn’t so good. the vegetables felt so mushy I felt like I was eating baby food. if it’s supposed to be that way then I just made a bad choice in what I ordered. I think if I had had this made fresh and not from the pre made stuff in the case, it could have been up to par. Again, maybe it was just the late hour and it had been sitting there all day. it was so mushy, though, I could barely finish it. Definitely disappointed to have dropped $ 8.66 on this. it looks like it has promise for the other things on the menu, but for the price, I’m kind of nervous to try again. maybe I’m also a naïve philadelphian who isn’t used to the price of NYC wraps.

How do you put a bakery right on the corner of 23rd and 8th avenue and not be called pretentious??? HEYYOU!!! HERE I AM!!! ON A HUUUGEINTERSECTION… LOL I’m more a fan of quaint and more private establishments… But whenever I come out of the movies… yes(bowing head down)…I become guilty as charged… They have outstanding Baklava and Cinnamon Roll… Actually, my co-worker LOVED the Cinnamon Roll… It’s huge, sweet, and lots of brown cinnamon on it… Very nice… Only thing I didn’t like was that I went to pay by credit card and they told me that it was $ 6 minimum… Please…don’t do that, «Consuelo»…Don’t look at me in the eye and tell me that… Don’t tell me how much to spend… That’s why I strip you of some of your princess points, Breadstixx… If it wasn’t for your cinnamon roll…

Two words: abrasive and rude! I was not able to take my time to decide what to order and when I did finally decided the woman screamed at me «TOGOORFORHERE?!» Since I refuse to eat theatre food at the nearby Clearview Cinemas I resorted to a $ 2.00 cinnamon bun and a small $ 2.25 cupcake. I took my order on the go as I refuse to sit and continue to be yelled. The cashier who packed my cinnamon bun and cupcake just threw both into the paper bags which the icing was mashed and destroyed inside the paper bag. Thus, I guess I’ve eaten another lemon in life!
