I’ve been here a few times since i work in the area and i love Indian food; however, ive experienced much much better. The most disappointing thing about Bombay is that you have to ask for sauce and even when you are ordering two full lunch meals they aren’t happy about the request and slide a meager miniature plastic cup. Most Indian restaurants that i go to always send the tolkien three sauces with my meal. As if the annoyance upon my sauce request isnt enough«we usually dont give this» «…-_-…», the food has lost its quality. I’ve always ordered the onion kulcha, nan, chicken tikka masala, chicken vindaloo and samosas. Sadly, over the past year they have all become less than par. In addition to the reduction in quality, the portions are not generous.

I’m speechless. This is the worst Indian food I’ve tasted. Avoid this place. Everything on my plate is dry and tasteless. I’m forced to give one star because I don’t have the zero option.

Very muted flavors. They need to add salt and spices to their food. Even the garlic naan was bad, and that’s surprising lol. Wouldn’t go back.

Ex-regular customer Food is alright. Customer service is atrocious. Rude older guy snapped at me when I asked for water and side of onions. This is a RESTAURANT, why would you complain when someone asks for water? Didn’t even have anyone at the register when I asked. I know why you were so disrespectful though… self-loath much? :)

Very good chicken tikka masala. They do peshawari naan which is hard to find. Recommended!

I’m very particular about curries and spicy food– Indian food in particular– but I will say this is some of the best I’ve had in the city– not that I am a huge connoisseur. High points: — Great taste — Great value — Large portions The portions are large and the price is affordable; for me its usually enough for 2 meals so I always get it to go. The food is good and the meat curries are tender; I am easily put off by excess bone, skin, fat, etc. but I have never encountered issues at this place. The food is also spicy but not too spicy and very flavorful. Additionally I get a family vibe from the restaurant which is nice; I think they care about the food personally. Recommendations: Chicken vindaloo with a vegetable side, jasmine rice, and naan bread to dip!

Bombay’s is a good place to grab a meal to go if you want to eat at one of the nearby parks or outdoor sitting areas in the Financial District. Tasty food. I ordered the Chicken Briyani with a side of Chicken Masala, a samosa and naan. Unlike most Indian places in NYC, they give you enough food here that you’ll feel full after your meal without needing to break the bank.

I don’t eat Indian food that often, but I went to Bombay for the first time today with a couple of coworkers! I got the biryani with chicken masala and bean sprouts. The biryani was good and I’ll definitely get that again next time. My coworker says the biryani is pretty authentic her and I believe her. The chicken masala was also delicious. I’m the type of person that if I find something I like, I’ll get it again and again without getting bored. The chicken masala was a little spicy but perfect with the biryani. The bean sprouts were okay — nothing too special. The meal was pretty heavy and I didn’t end up finishing it. It was ~$ 13 and very filling. Fast and friendly service. Unclear about what to do when you’re done eating though… Do we just leave our plates there? Unclear… But I’ll figure it out next time I go back!

Yeah great. Am working on Water Street and staying in the nearby Hampton Inn. There are way too many restaurants to choose from on Pearl Street so I gave up and went for quick and casual Indian. Which I am glad about because Bombay’s is an A1 joint. Being from the UK I am pretty fussy about my Indian food but this place hit the spot perfectly. Started off with Naan and some Daal while I waited for my entrée to be cooked. The Naan was very fresh and nice and crispy. The Daal was excellent. Thursday and Friday is buffet fish day so they let me order a Shrimp Bhuna off the menu. I asked for it super spicy, which in New York speak means ‘mildly flavored’. And thankfully it was very flavorful. Washed it down with a nice brown ale. Cheap and good service. Sorted.

Good, no frills Indian food at reasonable prices. Many options, mostly good with good service. The place is laid out cafeteria style and also gives you the option to eat outside by the tables laid out along the sidewalk. I ordered the meat, veggie, and rice combo. I got chicken tikka masala, a cauliflower dish, and basmati rice. I was not overly impressed with their chicken tikka masala. Don’t get me wrong, it was good but it didn’t taste authentic – it tasted like canned tomato basil soup for the most part. It was pretty okay given the prices of food in the financial district. Overall 3 stars for the food, 4 stars for the price; I’ll round up and give this place a solid 4 stars.

My job ordered a ton of stuff from here for a co-workers birthday and I was tasked with picking it up. My boss had sworn by their briyani, and I had had it once myself and really liked it. But I have to admit, when I walked in I was expecting a nice sit down restaurant, and was surprised to find a cafeteria type space. I didn’t make me hopeful for the food, however– appearances can be deceptive. While this was far from the best Indian I’ve had, it was solid, and I’d order from them again. The garlic naan is on point. The samosas are a little more dense than I like, but are otherwise good. The shrimp briyani is pretty good, and they’ll make things decently spicy if you ask them to. The chicken tikki masala is a little too sweet for me, and the tomato flavor is a little more pronounced than I like. Service was excellent though. They had been told we were ordering for someones birthday and they went out of there way to separate the birthdays girl food and even gave us extra food and a dessert on the house! They were very kind when I showed up and even had someone help me bring all the bags outside. Nice people here!

The menu was great. They had lots of vegetarian dishes .! Which is great cause I’m a vegetarian ! The waiter was very attentive and friendly. The place was clean. Loved their décor. The place doesn’t have that strong smell of curry like other Indian places do. Surprisingly. Lol.

Went here for a late lunch partly based on the reviews warning about the long lines and limited seating. Arrived there at 2PM and it was still somewhat crowded but I think most will be okay if your party is less than three diners. Food was above average and the portions were generous. The staff there were patient and helpful with recommendations. I had the lamb vindaloo — apologies if I misspelt that — and it was wonderful. Definitely a work crowd at lunch with a few out of towners… I noticed that the restaurant has a great dilvery take out special, one appetizer, one entrée and naan or roti for less than $ 15 — will go here again.

Food was tasty and generous, service was friendly and the price is very good for the financial district — no wait service which is fine by me

For lunch, there is a surprising amount of choice in the buffet. I had the chicken kabab and the vegetable curry. Both were awesome, just look at that chicken. Lots of vegetables in the curry too!

I came here for lunch and had to leave work early, because the food make me sick. 1pm– happily eating lunch 3pm– a waterfall ensues in the toilet 4pm– felt so sick I had to leave work early The journey home was difficult. I was trying so hard not to puke on the subway. I could not even stand, I had to fight for a seat. 5pm– made it home. Sat next to the toilet. Thank goodness my Roomate came home early and was able to get me water and pepto. 530pm– I’m dying! 545pm– the puking begins. Happens more than once. I was so horrified by this experience, I am never coming back here.

One of the hottest Indian buffet style restaurant in the Financial District. This place gets really crowded during lunch hour. I have to say I’m in love with their lamb vindaloo, basmati rice, aloo curry, aloo paratha, and vegetable somas. The seasoning is just right and I always have a fulfilling lunch. They have two buffet stations set up with the same exact dishes, which makes the amount of time on line insignificant. There is also a seating section, which can be occupied quickly. However, don’t get discouraged since most of their customers tends to evacuate the place fairly quickly. Lots of folks also sit outside during the warm weather. Get this, they also serve their food in the traditional Indian silverware. Priceless! The prices are reasonable with a substantial amount of food. No joke, pretty much all the Indian food lovers in the Financial District visit Bombay restaurant on a weekly basis.

Although this is most definitely Americanized(dumbed-down) «Indian Food,» it’s not half bad for what it is. Yes, I wish there were more spice. No, this is not authentic. Yes, the flavors are very much tamed and diluted. However, the meats they use are always lean and tender and plentiful, as are the vegetables, the prices are reasonable, and the portions are very generous. When I am craving authentic amazing Indian, I will just go elsewhere, but when I want something different than the usual, with satisfying portions & prices, this will definitely be on the back-burner as long as I live in the area.

Some coworkers and I ate here for lunch and the place was packed. My coworker raved about this place and remembers when it used to be Baluchi’s. There were a lot of customers who appeared to be from Indian descent so I said the food will be great, LOL. There were two long separate lines and I was a bit confused if it made a difference on which one you went on, but they moved quick. I ordered the curry lamb, rice, vegetables and naan and a can of soda for$ 12. I always compare my Indian meals to my favorite Indian spot, «curry in a hurry» in Midtown and it’s always been a better deal. The food was just okay, the lamb and naan were good. I didn’t like that they curried the vegetables which was just too much curry for me. We ate inside and they had a few chairs and tables outdoors but they were all taken. I would return here for some Indian food when I’m in the area.

Bombay’s food isn’t bad and their prices are fair, but the setup is just rather crazy and confusing. It seems that they are one of few Indian food options in this area of NYC so the crowd never actually died down in the 15 minutes we were inside. I ordered the chana masala and the chicken tikka masala with basmati rice. Everything was very mediocre and didn’t make a lasting impression. We will likely order from Seamless the next time instead.
