After exploring Governors Island stopped in for a pleasant late lunch. We had three drinks between us a salad and a sandwich and it only came to $ 31 quite reasonable for NYC. Dive Bar atmosphere with plenty of sports on the TV loads of locals recommended

I’ve had a great experience at shortys Flatiron and midtown West. This experience was not one like those. It was not the food that put me off, but the abysmal service. I was having dinner with my girlfriend and a few of our friends and we literally had to walk up to the bar to get any wait service to help us with our order. Not to mention, all of the waitresses were mainly spending time flirting and giving attention to an all male group of customers. At least that group was nice enough to help us get the attention of the wait service. I’m not going to rant on and on, however, shorty’s,; the food is good. It’s a fun sports bar with good cheesesteaks and drinks aren’t too shabby. But I would avoid this location.

The best steak sandwich I never made. I love this place all but the service the young lady was bothered to serve us. Big dude with the beard was cool made up for it. I even bought a shirt. Great beer selection

Came in for a beer and bathroom stop. Staff was so friendly and awesome stayed longer than expected. Many beers on tap and $ 4 for any for happy hour definitely convinced me to stay longer. Awesome stop highly reccomend stoping here, music is great and staff is even better!

This is a cute sports bar. Great bar food at cheap prices that fill you up. Their bacon cheese fries are delicious. Their hot wings are to die for. Drinks are cheap and who can beat HH! Service is also great as well as the ambience. Absolutely love it here.

As much as I’d love to, I can’t this deduct stars because of it’s affinity for Philadelphia sports teams — they just need to hire a better decorator. Say what you want about Philly sports«phans,» but they’re a loyal bunch; they have to be. In terms of pubs, its a hangout bar with a great selection of draft beers, wine on tap, and good mixed drinks. Far from upscale, they deliver on the«divey» sports bar element that is not in abundance in New York’s Financial District. During my stop here, they had a DJ delivering music. It may be a great thing if you’re looking for some loudly played jams, but not great if you’re looking for a place where you can communicate without using your«outside voice.» The bartenders were attentive and polite and the experience is what I’d come to expect from a local sports venue.

Best Phily cheesesteak I had in NYC. Delivery is reasonable and food always arrive in warm temperatures. If I want to indulge myself I would get the badass Italian/cheese fries with phily cheesesteak. The cheesesteak sandwich is perfect — cheesesteak(perfect ratio of meat and cheese) is melting in my mouth, the bread is soft outside and crisy inside…

Came here with a group of friends on a Saturday night. Place was packed probably because of March Madness. I have to say I had never gotten my order taken so fast with the food coming in less than 5 minutes. So I have to say it’s definitely a plus. Food: Got a basket of fries And a plain Philly cheesesteak with whiz. sandwich was huge I definitely recommend splitting it with someone if you’re not really hungry. But it was really good and the meat and cheese ratio was perfect. I forgot to tell them with onions, but I’ll be back soon and get it with onions next time.

Ohhhh Shorty’s so glad I found you! I was in the area for training and decided to meet my friend for lunch. He’s always raving about his great lunch options in the area. When he suggested Philly Cheesesteaks I must say I wasn’t at all thrilled about the idea, but since he insisted I gave in certainly glad I did! Shorty’s has a great bar menu with an array of Philly style sandwiches including vegetarian options. All seemed simple must have sports bar essentials. They have a pretty great lunch special given high priced eateries in the area. This place definitely has sports bar feel; lots of TV’s and plenty of seating. It was lunch time and the place was live! — as if it was early evening Friday night happy hour. I thought there would be a wait for a table but we walk in and were seated right away. I took a trip to the restroom downstairs and noticed they have a To-Go dispatching area — genius! They also have delivery in the financial district area with a $ 20 minimum — not bad. Happy Hour is almost if not a must in an NYC bar. Shorty’s seems to have that mastered. Its«Happy Hour» every hour! Happy Hour 4−7PM and daily nightly specials from 7PM — 11PM — including weekends, can’t beat that! My friend is a regular at shorty’s so he suggested we stick to the lunch special to get the true Shorty’s experience. Shorty’s lunch special includes a cheesesteak, fries and a fountain soda. The fries the come with the lunch special are regular fries but we requested the Italian fries instead(I think there was an additional charge for that). When he raved about this place, he mentioned how good everything was specially the fries. He was not lying! Those fries are perfectly crisp and sprinkled with parmesan goodness! I’ve visited Philly(so called home of the cheesesteak) on several occasions and each and every time I intend on finding why people swear by this sandwich because I have yet to be impressed. Needless to say, I think they have all wrong over there, they need some tips from Shorty’s. The cheesesteak was everything I imagined it would be. The bread was significantly different from any other cheesesteak bread I’ve had, the meat was perfectly seasoned and the onions were perfection with it. You have the option of three cheeses — provolone, american or whiz. The only bad thing with the lunch special was the fountain soda. It was flat, but then again how good is fountain soda usually? I am looking forward to my next visit and joining in on the happy hour drinks!

I want to say that I’ve tried their cheesesteak and it was amazing! Their fries and nachos are amazing! Especially with Margaritas, they get more fantastic by the minute! The waitress were amazing to us. We had a whole section to ourselves for a get together for a friends birthday dinner. The section had little stools to sit on and we sat around the tables that were there. After they saw we were just downing Margaritas all night, they gave us a shot on the house! If the food and drinks are great, that’s a plus! It’s perfect location downtown, walk away from many other places, and so close to the water! I want to stop by again sometime!

Great customer service/wings & fries! Made the rookie mistake of not checking which delivery address to have food send to and they went to my office but called and mgt sent over fresh food quickly. On Superbowl Sunday nonetheless!!!

I really only tried the philly cheese steak here, so I’m not sure if I’m fit to comment on anything else. The Cheesesteak was definitely good, but I failed to see how thee bread was significantly different from other kinds of breads that I’ve had. The steak and the cheese were both decent, but nothing out of the ordinary. The real con here is the price– $ 12 for a cheesesteak? I understand that they have a lunch special which makes the deal seem a little more attractive, but I really don’t think a sandwich should go for that much.

Their Cheesesteaks are really delicious! Tried their Buffalo Chicken Steak with Hot Buffalo Sauce and Ranch. absolutely delicious! Portion-wise, it’s actually perfect. Just 1 complaint. at $ 12, they could’ve provided fries with your meal, but they expect you to pay $ 5 more fries. That’s when the menu looks a bit expensive! My colleague had their Pork Sandwich which he didn’t really enjoy much.

The story of how I ended up at this place… It was a snow day and I’m sure most of NYC had a snow day since the city is not used to nor is it equipped to handle a «snow storm» By the afternoon, the snow had died down and my friends and I were getting a little stir crazy Desperate to find a reason to leave the apartment, we googled places close by that were opened and found that Shorty’s was opened. We didn’t live far from this location so we decided to get suited up in our jackets and hats and headed out! When we got there, the place was a ghost town. We got seated and looked at the menu and the special deals written on the walls. We got one special cheese steak with provolone and broccoli rabe, the other was a classic with cheese wiz, with a side of pizza fries. Everything was amazing. The sandwiches came out pipping out, the meat was super tender and cooked to perfect with equal amounts of other ingredients in every bite. The fries were perfectly covered with sauce and cheese, enough for every bite. The fries were also crispy! If you are every looking for a nice casual place for a quick bite, I would definitely recommend Shorty’s!

One of the best cheesesteaks I’ve had outside of Philadelphia, and I’m of course referring to a WHIZWIT cheesesteak. They also have an excellent draught list. As far as atmosphere, Shorty’s somehow recreates the feeling that you’re in Philadelphia… in FiDi. I’ll def be back if I’m in need of a cheesesteak and want to forego the 80 mile drive.

I’m so glad I found this place near work! Definitely a sports bar feel. There are five TVs on each side, in addition to one larger one near the front. There’s a large bar and the seats consist of large bar stools. So chill in here that it’s easy to lose track of time! Just as you would expect from a place like this, the food is hearty, simple, and delicious. They have a lunch special until 3PM — $ 14 for your choice of a cheesesteak, fries and a soda(+$ 2 for beer). The fries were double fried, so they’re extra crispy even though it’s a thicker cut. I got the Italian fries, which were recommended. I can see why! I almost regret putting ketchup on them towards the end — they really don’t need it. I got the American cheesesteak with cheez wiz(gotta go for the classic right?). At first I was skeptical, but then I really got into the heart of it and wow. The meat was still juicy and flavorful. The ends may not have too much meat on there, but the middle was packed! I could’ve done with more cheese, though. It came wrapped(why?) so a more cheese ended up on the wrapper than I would’ve liked. Service was great. I was seated right away, and my order was taken as soon as I was done putting down the menu. The food took about 15 minutes to come out, and it was warm — the perfect temperature for eating right away. I was in and back in my office in an hour. Much appreciated! The couple next to me ordered nachos. Ugh. Will be back soon.

The cheesesteak here is legit and GOOD!!! I order it seamless often(but only if Jersey Mikes is closed). My friends and I often have a debate who makes the best cheesesteak. And for me the ultimate cheesesteak would be the bread at shorty’s and the chipotle meat at Jersey Mike. The bread here is amazing and fresh. The problem is the cheese in the cheesesteak melts into the meat and disappears in the sandwich, you can’t even taste it. Order extra cheese if you like cheese. They have a steal of a happy hour, and the bar is nicely set up(not a dive bar).

There is NOTHING better than eating a great Philly cheesesteak, drinking some cold Yuenglings, and watching a bunch of rowdy Eagles fans cry when their team loses in the playoffs. Wings are good too.

I was craving fries and found this place on Unilocal near my office. I ordered the Italian fries, so much seasoning and so tasty. I definitely say it was filling and a good amount for $ 5. I definitely want to try their Philly cheesesteak and bacon and cheese fries next time.
