Holee Crap. This place was great. I loved their cocktails and sake list… and of course their sushi. Their sushi was bombtastic. I had a roll called«Sex On the Beach.» It was better than sex. Seriously. Their staff is very charming and helpful. I sat at the sushi bar, and the sushi chef was great. I made a modification to a regular roll, and he was like, «Sure! Why not?»(Actually, those were his exact words). Great place to have a nice and somewhat inexpensive sushi dinner before hitting a show at the Highline Ballroom.

Service was adequate. Standard sushi, nothing special but tasted good. Chicken udon was good, quite salty but loaded with veggies, which I appreciated. Not a super value, but also not outrageously expensive. Check out the mural in the restroom.

I work in the Chelsea area are so at times when I have a sushi craving I head to Blue Ginger. Their sushi is pretty ok. Yesterday around 1pm I decided to stop in and order the lunch special; I had the Spicy Salmon, Shrimp Tempura and the Sweet Potato rolls. I gave my co worker the sweet potato roll(lucky him). I enjoyed by rolls as usual but by the time I made it home my stomach said otherwise. Let me rewind and state that this was my lunch and my breakfast consisted of a fruit salad, a glass of lemon water and grapefruit juice so at this point I had little to nothing on my stomach. By the time I made it home, I started getting sharp frequent stomach cramps and had to lay down. Laying down was not a resolution and lets say I’m glad I made it home as my body wanted to eject the food anyway possible. I knew the symptoms were symptoms of food poisoning. I juice regularly and had some fruits and veggies(dandelion, grapefruit, ginger and celery) at hand and made a concoction to rid the bug. Around 12 am I received a call from my co worker asking if I was having stomach pains(I don’t think his symptoms were as severe as mines and he did not have seafood in his meal so I’m assuming the food poisoning was caused by unsanitary conditions). This afternoon I decided to give Blue Ginger a call to inform them of this matter. I spoke to the manager and he asked«did you go to the hospital» I stated that I didn’t and was told I would need a «doctors note» for any resolution and that no one else complained THATDAY :-(. I am not one to beg for anything so I said that’s crazy and hung up. Yes this was my first experience with food poisoning from Blue Ginger but it wasn’t only the fact that I had food poisoning but the resolution or lack thereof that this establishment formed. I am glad that I am feeling slightly better and hopefully this review stops you in your tracks or observe this and other sushi establishments for sanitary conditions before entering.

For a Tuesday it was empty… about 6 other patrons My blood orange margarita was tasty, food was good… the sushi roll i ordered was fresh and the mango sauce on it made me happy. Décor was blah… the lights were very very dim idk what they are hiding lol but they make sure you cant see much.

I have been coming to blue ginger for almost 7 years, I have never been disappointed. It used to be across the street from my office however I am now in midtown so I come here whenever possible! Rolls are on point, service is great I really have nothing bad to say

Low quality fish. Some of the shashimi tasted really bad. I wouldn’t come back here. Nothing seemed fresh. The salad greens were half rotting. The fish was tough and chewy. Wouldn’t consider this sushi.

The only reason my family wound up eating here is that the Mexican restaurant we love to eat at so much down the block was closed due to Easter Sunday supposedly. We chose this restaurant down the block because we did not want to go elsewhere in the city because we were hungry and we were not in the mood to go on a wild goose chase for an open restaurant. The food was just ok. The sushi was disappointing and seemed too moist. They do not provide free green tea in the beginning fo a meal like all Japanese restaurants do. The dressing on the salad tasted too gingery(pardon the pun). The service was not good because most of the time the servers were not present when we needed them. They were not even busy. There was only one other table occupied at that time and it was a small restaurant. I am glad there are obviously tons of options for Japanese food in NYC so I have no reason to come back here.

Blue Ginger is the perfect little escape if you are looking for an afternoon adventure. Clean tables, lit candles, dimmed lights, soft music and not to mention the knowledgeable and friendly staff. Excellent food décor and stimulating tastes you will remember months to come. I ordered a tempura dish that was cooked excellently; brilliant colours and dashing tastes, you won’t regret it. Go ahead, give your mouth a party! …and before you leave, have a lychee martini; it’s one of the best I have had.

Totally legit sushi in the neighborhood. Good combo specials that make it easy to order family style with your friends. Seating is limited, but I’m not sure how busy they get since we had dinner at 10pm.

Had an impromptu dinner here with my husband today and I would say the food is very average. I ordered their Sunomomo and part of the calamari was still frozen! I bit into icicles… I ordered the Chirashi which is what I pretty much order in every Japanese restaurant and the seafood was average at best. My husband ordered the shrimp and veggie tempura and that actually wasn’t bad. The service was excellent though. They were very attentive and polite, I just wish the food was a better quality.

I find this place satisfactory. They have the standards in pretty good shape. The rolls you find everywhere, shrimp shumai, etc. I find some things much less so. The sunomono was particularly upsetting. For $ 9 you would expect a reasonable portion. Plus they say, shrimp, octopus, squid– this had 1 pieces of each and 2 large pieces of imitation crab. Pretty disappointing. Overall, ok if you go simple. I wouldn’t order something unique though.

My wife and I were on our way to vip room but wanted to carb ourselves up before including alcohol coma. We found this spot and fell in love. They had a nice sushi menu along with some cooked entrees. The cocktail list was pretty solid and priced well. Service was good and you get exactly what you pay for. Not necessarily super high quality cuts that you would get at a high end sushi restaurant. You get the type of sushi that you could have every Wednesday night with your spouse. I would come back again.

i loved the SPICYTUNAROLL there! If you are a person that love to challenge your palette this is a place for you. It had a kick to it. Personality rather… service is fast! price verrry reasonable. I would definitely go back there for more. There are no minimum and waiters are very polite.

If you’re absolutely starving, and since me and my friend was craving sushi we decided to stop in. I guess this place has hiked indicated by the menu with whiteout on it but the prices are still good for Manhattan. Not so bad. Not so good but yet again not so bad. The highlight about this place is the lunch special. Any three rolls listed in the that section of the menu for $ 13 and it comes with miso soup. I ordered the spicy crab roll, spicy chicken tempura roll, and salmon avocado roll. The miso soup was very salty and I am a person who has a high salt tolerance. I was pleased with the quality of sushi, considering the price. The fish was pretty fresh and everything was made to order. The staff could have been more friendly but they refilled our drinks on time.
