Love this place and their cat. Great deals and good selection, and the guy who works there is so nice, he let me take home a hidden dusty crate I found downstairs when I said I needed one. My fav record shop!

It was the tragedy of all tragedies when Bleecker Street Records got pushed off Bleecker Street in favor of a Starbucks. And the new Starbucks sign now inhabits the old iconic round Bleecker Street sign, taunting us all as it lures in oblivious tourists. Thankfully, Bleecker Street Records survived its move around the corner relatively unscathed. It managed to maintain the gritty charm of the institution that it is. And it remains home to a stellar assortment of music, posters, old Playbills and other memorabilia. Plus, their baller fat cat. Yes, an actual obese feline who’s just the best. They’re also the best game in town when it comes to Record Store Day. They never fail to have a huge assortment of the exclusive offerings.

To be honest, the range of what they have is a bit eh. However, prices are decent for the most part and the store is very organized. Staff are a bit standoffish, but at least you won’t have anyone breathing down your neck as you browse their records.

I never bought a record before but I went in with my friend and the guy at the counter so super helpful. He even opened a record player in order to show the options.

Sort of an institution, but the pricer needs to be institutionalized. Been around since the punk heyday, and you might find something good, but it’s one of those places where you might leave empty handed. A piece of old school punk rock history that’s cool to say you’ve been to, but there are better places to dig.

Ok their selection is big and covers a wide range and is clearly arrenged, but: The staff dosen’t care a f*** if you’re there or if you find anything interesting. And besides the 1 $ collection is almost unplayable end-to-end. I know that 1 $ records are not mint, but every single record that caught my interest was dead. I think next time in ny i’ll save my time for nicer locations…

Awesome selection of records. So many to look through, someone can easily spend the whole day there. Definitely worth checking out for the average record collector.

This record shop is departing like its counterparts to, unsurprisingly, become a Starbucks like all the rest.

The new Bleecker St Records may not actually be on Bleecker but it’s still among the best shops in the city. If I had a gripe with this shop, it’s that the guy who works the register upstairs(I’m not sure if it’s the owner but he’s always there) is really not helpful and pretty unpleasant to deal with. He’s the epitome of the«I work in a record store so I’m better then you» guy. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars in this store and go at least every two months so despite not being a total regular, I’m there often enough. Anyway, the CD collection is extensive, pretty fairly priced and organized quite well even in the used section which is really saying something. As for vinyl, I’ve picked up a lot of gems here over the last few years and it’s always well organized in both the new and used sections. Oh by the way, they have Laserdiscs! Say hi to the cat… she’s lonely now :-(

This was the former location of Disc-O-rama a music and movies store so it was already set up for what Bleecker Street records would sell. I was in here once before after seeing it in the former location of Disc-o-rama but today I came in here looking for something specific. Unfortunatey I couldn’t find it. I did find A CD I would have looked for if I knew it existed so I bought that.

Love this new location. I came to the old location a few times and felt the cons overpowered the pros. The main reason I wasn’t too fond of shopping at the old store was the staff. There were a bunch of rude kids working upstairs and downstairs and the guy at check out wasn’t much better. I don’t know if ownership changed with the move but the guys working there are super nice and very helpful when you ask about anything music related. This location is a little smaller then the last location but so far it’s clean, organized well and still seems to stock plenty of vinyls, CDs, etc.
