Cute little coffee shop right in les. Feels like you’re drinking coffee in a living room. If friends was filmed in Brooklyn this is what their coffee shop would feel like. The barista is friendly and the atmosphere is like that of a living room where people are talking and doing their work.

Location: it’s at the lower east side neighborhood. very hipster. their decoration is very antique. including some photographs on the wall, some old furnitures… My suggest to fellow Unilocalers who enjoy a cup of joe for a coffee break, is that this is not a great place for coffee. but their latte seems nice. I did not try latte, only went for a cup of coffee. Lousy coffee is my accurate description of their coffee characteristics. And the people who work there are loud. i am not say that’s bad but it is definitely not an ideal place for study. Maybe bring your coworker and discuss some interesting stories is a perfect idea to come here. One thing worth mentioned is that I think Black Cat L.E.S. is dope because while i was sitting there, I saw two movie producers discusss their new movies(something involved with Megan Fox) and two movie stars… what a day. Overall: I might come back just because it’s close to where my bootcamp is. But if you are living far far away, this place is not your best choice.

As I walked inside the black cat café I was welcomed by nice jazz music which is very relaxing. The décor is like a bar like setting without the bar music and more calm and relaxing. This is a perfect place for anyone who want to relax and feel stress free. The place is clean and have lots of seats. Customer service: was very quick. The male café workers was kind and very attentive. He did his work with a smile. Price is very inexpensive and it’s well deserved Atmosphere have lots of artwork and is very creative. The house blend coffee was good . Will I come back … Yes

This is a great café for relaxing or getting some work done and enjoying some delicious coffee. There’s comfortable couches in the back, and its not too crowded(I easily found a seat on a Saturday afternoon.) Free, fast wifi. It feels very laid-back, no super hipster or too-cool-for-you vibe like some other cafes in this area of Manhattan. Background music playing but not too loud. As for the coffee – I had the Dirty Kitty. Very sweet and delicious, the cream on top is definitely whole milk-based cream. They have many tea choices as well – Sencha, Jasmine Green, etc. There are some baked goods and quiches that look good, but not a wide selection.

Good coffee spot with tons of seating. They offer WiFi for customers only. Feel free to sit as long as you like to get some work done and they have multiple wall outlets to charge your eletronics.

Ok gross. And slowest ever… So while were were waiting forever to get a cup of coffee for my friend the odd girl behind the counter(When I say odd I am trying to be as kind as possible but she was like from a different universe… and slightly off) was making coffee for another couple who evidently are regulars and while the barista was making the coffee she was blowing all over the machine and the coffee that she was going to serve to her customers… Maybe those customers were all tight with her but my friend and I did not feel that same closeness with the strange Barista. *She kept on saying to her customers«oh my gawd I always make you guys late because I talk so much»…Yes I think you do. As she continued to say that she’d never been out of the US and how she wanted to travel and would take a Megabus… and dropped F bombs everywhere. After we saw her blow all over the machine and coffee we left as quickly as possible and directly headed for the door and got coffee around the corner… where they are sanitary. If you want a dirty cup of coffee come here.

I didn’t try any coffee, which I’m sure is very good. I just came by for a sandwich and study. Sandwich was meh and overpriced. The wifi stopped working. My table was wobbly and the barista was weird about it. Cute place though. 3 stars feels right.

Asian Lady at counter very nice. Place dim/dull which helps with the cozy feel. seems like pple come to relax n maybe stay for hours. The furniture has no rhyme or reason jus a mismatch of things from pple houses or goodwill. If I’m ever in the area may stop by again but won’t go out of my way.

I stopped by on a snowy day when I was in the area and looking for some caffeine and wifi. You step down into the café and there’s no natural light coming in so the interior is pretty dim. They have tables and chairs in the center of the café and random chairs and couches in the back and by the walls. They have a variety of coffees and teas and matcha lattes. I was able to sit and work with my latte for several hours with no interruptions and didn’t feel pressured to leave. However around 4pm, they were having some sort of event so they were kicking people out near the back. I was leaving soon anyway so it was fine but it was annoying for the others who were sitting with their food.

This is the most perfect, cozy coffee shop! This place is absolutely adorable, with plenty of tables to relax, do some work, or have your monthly book club meeting. I was surprised that on a Saturday morning around 11am that there were plenty of tables available — a refreshing change from the over-crowded, noisy Manahttan coffee shop culture these days. The décor is classic and charming — you feel as though you were in someone’s living room. The staff is friendly, and another plus is that the food and drink is absolutely delicious!

This is my new favorite ny coffee shop. I found it on Unilocal, while I was looking for one with good coffee and an atmosphere more cozy than your regular trendy minimalist style shops. I’m convinced the guy at the counter got my order wrong and gave me a Turkish coffee(they call it a mud coffee) instead of the mocha I ordered, but either way it was very good. There was a Orange, citrus-y aftertaste. Even the friend I brought with me to try it said his plain black coffee was really good. I see myself coming back to meet up with friends again and also doing my own thing there. I highly recommend it.

Cute café and their coffee is always so fresh. They have a table set up for you to add just what you like to your coffee(from soy milk to half and half; Splenda, honey, or sugar). Staff is friendly! The décor is cute and it’s such a chill place for anyone who might have a first date or would come to study(free wifi).

An adorable coffee shop in the LES. I’ve lived in the area for a while and couldn’t find a coffee shop with all the things on my checklists(good coffee, not too expensive, seating) and then I stumbled upon Black Cat. The prices are solid, the coffee is good, and the staff is super friendly! But the best part has to be the atmosphere and décor. It’s shabby chic. On weekend afternoons they have live music. Most importantly, there is always a place to sit, which is a rare commodity in NYC. Red Eye=Great! Lox LES=Great!

There was a «Help Wanted» sign in the window… and it was clear how badly they needed it. The main barista/cashier person was amazing. There was another girl there for support, but she was only taking on light orders. So, a bulk of the work was falling on one person on a busy Sunday morning. I’m a human being & I’ve been in customer service my whole life, so I understood that she was trying her absolute best for one barista. I could see her wanting to remain upbeat and focused, but one person can only do so much.(I always wonder why management never steps up to help in these situations… anyway…) So for that reason, I guess I have to share that my apple oatmeal was 15 minutes late, but when it did arrive it was SOGOOD. I also had a chocolate chai, equally to die for. I thought about ordering a Dirty Kitty while I was working & finished the chai, but, I didn’t want to get back in the line. I also spilled a good amount of my drink because my table was uneven, but I wasn’t about to ask for more or for help with assistance in cleaning it up. The ambiance is so cozy that I stayed there for almost 3 hours. Oops. It’s got this fun feel of your grandmother’s living room — mismatched chairs, knickknacks all around. You can even sit at a piano. Very cool concept. So I’m leaving this lackluster review because that was my experience. But, I’m actually looking forward to my second visit, with more staff to make that poor girl a little less stressed out. I’ll probably leave a much higher rating… and try that Dirty Kitty that everyone’s talking about!

So as a fan of coffee and having a black cat tattoo on my right arm, this place naturally was up my alley. I really enjoy the ambiance here. It’s very vintage rock that feels slightly hipster but didn’t get off on the hipster stop. I had the dirty kitty and a hazelnut latte. Very well made and you can taste the freshness. Feels like a central perk style coffee shop with an edge. Also love how it’s semi underground. Real authentic NYC feel.

Depending on what you want and like in a café you’ll either love this place or not. I came in one afternoon to study since pictures showed it’s spacious and has table space. Upon walking in, this dark café shows a lot of character– piano on the side, upholstered chairs, lounge looking area in the back. Order and pay at the counter and they bring you the drink. Sadly, even if it’s to stay the drinks come in plastic cups. Everything was fine, but I think it got weird at the end of the day and they transitioned to screamo music. *free wifi

Small quiet café in LES. My sister and I were looking for a nearby place after we learned spreadhouse was closed for the week. This place was perfect, they offer wifi, have delicious drinks, and a cozy atmosphere. I got the iced chocolate because I was feeling like a kid and my sister got the iced hazelnut latte. I think she made the better choice since I keep stealing hers. We really wanted to try the magic orchid, but it was just too hot. Maybe next time. The inside looks dark, but there is adequate natural lighting and lots of lights inside. Their wifi password is also posted so you don’t have to awkwardly look for it. Perfect for studying or relaxing.

A friend picked this place out to hang around before dinner and it was a nice find. First, I loved the quirky knick knacks, the string lights, dim lighting, it wasn’t packed and the fact that a pot of tea costs $ 5! All of the tea is loose leaf, fair trade and organic to boot. The people working there were also sweet! This is actually more of a 4.5 rating btw. Reviewing this makes me afraid that it’s probably going to end up super packed now, but really. Nice find! Now I need to come back and actually try the food too: P.
