Had dinner here with friends yesterday. Even though it’s a pretty small place, we called 30 minutes in advance and they were able to find space for nine of us. For my appetizer I had the goat cheese tarte, which was basically a goat cheese crostini surrounded by pastry wrap. I really liked the warm balls of goat cheese and the flaky pastry wrap. For entrée I had the braised lamb shank. The meat was cooked well and delicious, but I thought that the ragu sauce was pretty overpowering and masked some of the flavor of the mushrooms and the lamb. Service was good and overall I thought it was a pleasant experience. If you’re looking for a slightly upscale French restaurant with great ambience and reliable food, I’d recommend giving this place a try.

I love that Bistro is open late. The food, the wine, and the atmosphere/ambience are always good here. You have to try the chocolate soufflé!

My top 3 favorite duck dishes in NYC! I couldn’t stop thinking about their duck for weeks! Bistro Les Amis is now one of my favorite French restaurants in NYC. I was roaming around Soho looking for a place to get dinner. We were passing by Bistro Leas Amis when we were headed to a different restaurant, and last minute decided to try this place in the corner. Thank heavens we did. Let me just go straight to my duck dish. I will make the extra effort to find their menu online so I can copy&paste the the exact name of this mouthwatering dish… Okay, I just checked. It’s «Magret de Canard Rôti ã la Mangue et au Miel» and their description is «Roasted Muscovy Duck Breast with Wild Rice, Cranberry Chutney & Mango Drizzle» for $ 28.95. First of all, it’s very hard to find huge portions of actual good duck in Manhattan for under $ 30. If you are a foodie who loves duck, you know this is true. I took half of it home because I couldn’t finish it. Second, it’s so unique! I did not know until what grain I was eating. The rice was long almost like barley, and the texture was like undercooked brown rice. The not-too-sweet cranberry really united the duck, rice and sauce together. I can’t explain how good this is. It’s so mouthwatering! My friend ordered one of the prix fix menu– soup of the day(sorry I don’t remember what it was but it was such a creamy AMAZING green soup! +Frenched Chicken Breast with Rosemary Shallot Sauce Served with Mashed Potatoes & Haricots Verts + sorbet. The chicken breast was juicy and huge too. The duck was just too good I don’t remember much of the chicken. Definitely get the refreshening two generous scoops of sorbet too even if you don’t get the prix fixe. It really cleansed off my palate at the end. The chocolate molten cake is so decadent and rich in flavor as well. Our waiter was super kind and polite. He made our dining experience better. He suggested pairings of wine with our app and entrée. I highly recommend Bistro Les Amis and I cannot wait to come back here for the duck again. I’ll probably order the green soup and one of the desserts too… Basically, I just want to replay this moment haha

Shout out to my amazing hostess Adreida– if I have the spelling wrong I blame my terrible memory entirely on their excellent Bordeaux. She made the evening better with her helpful suggestions, definitely order the Tarte tan, it was so good me and my friend were looking in opposite directions as we tried to suppress out foodgasm indecent noises. The lamb with merlot sauce was good although the extra sauce we asked for didn’t have all the alcohol cooked out of it yet. escargot were lipsmackingly good and almost made up for the underwhelming crème brûlée

This place is my go-to in Soho when I’m shopping all-day. Highly recommend it if you’re stuck in Soho as well! The portions are good and the service is fantastic. The place is also very rustic and cute! I won’t say it’s so good that I’d ever come down for the food, but it’s well-priced and pretty solid. I find the food is a little on the heavy side — lots of cheese and butter. It’s sort of American meets French. But it’s a great bistro and I’d recommend it to people in the area!

Best French onion soup I’ve ever had! I ate here on Christmas Eve with my East Coast family. The service was great and I really enjoyed the salmon entrée. Nothing will beat that French onion soup, though… Highly recommend this place for French cuisine!

I arrived with friends on a late chilly night, and were warmed by the friendly reception, lively atmosphere, and delightful food. The cassoulet, gnocchi, and salmon were perfectly presented, as were the apple tarte and cheesecake. It’s well worth the visit and a nice reminder of being in France.

One of the best meals I have. Great atmosphere and service as well. You know a restaurant is going to be good when the bread they serve is freshly baked. I would highly recommend the French Onion soup. The best I have ever had. The Coc au Vin was perfectly prepared. The Bronzino was also amazing. For dessert, I would recommend the Molton Lava Soufflé Cake or the Coconut Walnut bread pudding. Can’t wait to come back here. The restaurant is locaed in one of my favorite sections of NYC, Soho.

This place is solid! It feels like a rustic French restaurant lost in time. The servers are very friendly and all the food was good. We had the arugula beet salad and French onion soup to start. Then the lamb shank and coq au vin. Everything was quite flavorful and hearty. The portions were more American than French. Finally, we shared the crème brûlée. Again, it was solid. Would definitely come back!

A very solid 4 stars. I had the onion soup and lobster risotto and cannot say anything but good things about those items. Well-prepared, good portion, well presented and quite tasty. I had wished for a bit more«help» from the server on items that were really good, but she wasn’t too helpful. If I had to give any demerits, it would be for the slightly warm rose and the awful music playlist going on in there. I know I was there late, but it just really didn’t go with the ambience.

Lots of places have a friendly staff. I found the people here to be more than that: they were warm and seemed passionate about providing a good experience and food. Today I came in after getting some bad news. I mentioned to my server what I was in the mood for and he gave excellent suggestions on menu items as well as modifications that would make it just what I wanted. I was comfortable and stuck around for coffee. Other severs made sure my coffee was full and my table clean. Sincere smiles from everyone made my day a bit better. Thanks. Oh. And the onion soup was great ;)

Charming little bistro with the most friendly and welcoming wait staff and the best smelling bathroom. We had dinner here on a weeknight. They bring out these amazing kalamata olives with the tastiest olive oil and pink peppercorns. I wasn’t a big fan of their bread, but it’s a generous portion served with very yummy butter. We got the tuna tartare and arugula salad to start, both of these were disappointing, wasn’t well seasoned. For main course we had the salmon, mushroom ravioli and pork belly. These dishes really made us change our mind about the place. The salmon was the standout dish for me, served with spinach and tomato jam, it was exquisite. Pork belly was very tasty as well. The mushroom ravioli with truffle cream was unexpectedly delicate, some places turn ravioli into a dough ball, not here. We also had profiteroles for dessert along with cappuccino, which came in the most adorable old school cups. The portion size is pretty huge. We didn’t order typically French dishes. The clientele looked older than most other places in the area and they were playing some Dean Martin while we were there, overall a lovely place.

Stopped in for dinner after the Versus store opening with a friend. I went with the entrée-size steak tartar which was very good. Traditional preparation with shallots, capers, Dijon vinaigrette and topped with an egg yolk. It was quite filling with the crusty bread they provided to the table. The wife wit the same option expect tuna tartar and her was also quite delicious. Our friend ordered the lobster risotto special which I sampled and, as probably one of the few people on the planet that does not go nuts for risotto, found it to be excellent. Service was attentive and prices were reasonable.

As the fog in my brain, caused by the unnecessary bar-hops that followed the meal, slowly ebbs away, I recall that Mrs G and I had a very fine adult meal at this friendly and attractive French bistro. The host and hostess are gracious and bestow their impish French-ness upon the patrons. The service comes with that tiny sprinkle of the John Cleese caricature of the impudent French waiter. The menu is a stream of DELICACIES new and olde. Having arrived committed to the arrest my craving for STEAKFRITES, I opted instead for the MUSCOVYDUCK with long, wild Canadian rice and blessed with some sweet berry sauce. She, my lovely wife, seized upon the goldmine of LOBSTERRISOTTO. If the gentleman in me were not present I would have spooned more of her dish on to my plate. Of course it started with fatty FOISGRAS steeped atop some apple and smothered in what must have been butter, salt and other things that we try to avoid because they taste so good. We elected to not order a dessert that looked really appealing. Although the wine list contains some high priced options, it is long of modestly priced bottles. We sipped a $ 60 Margaux that was good from the start. The décor is old world charm and the music was a string of soft Motown hits from way back when. The crowd is of more advanced age considering the SoHo location and the noise level of the bistro is modest.

I have to credit my wife with this find and she even used Unilocal!Hey, I thought I was the Unilocaler in this relationship! My wife has been here a couple of times prior and she always talked about how great the food was and the service was very good. After leaving a show from the nearby City Winery she was really in the mood for a dessert special they had recently so we decided to stop and see if it was still on the menu — it was! We sat outside on the first high 70s/80 degree day we had in the city after a brutal winter and it was glorious. The dessert special we ordered was a dulce de leche flan along with a bread pudding special. We enjoyed both, and she was right. the dulce de leche was very good! This place reminded us of our time in Paris. We were even sitting next to diners speaking french here. Thinking that if the desserts were this good that I can’t wait to come back to have a proper meal. I wonder if my wife will pick up the tab since it is her discovery? lol

Went here for lunch yesterday and with the weather being so nice and the sun finally out we grabbed a table outside in the sun. Our server was very nice and very attentive to our needs. We had a bottle of white wine which was very nice and ordered the best salad and crab cakes as appetizers which were good but nothing mind blowing. For our entrees my friend got the coq au vin which was a tad overlooked and a little too sweet for my taste. my friend loved the sauce. I ordered the grilled salmon which was just ehh ok. Nothing really special about it and was sitting on a bed of some type of sweet red thing which i did not enjoy one bit. For the prices I felt like the lunch menu was pretty limited but our server was great. Maybe dinner is better.

SIXSTARSDEFINITELY! But Unilocal only has 5 star system. I’m glad we found this place, because this made my and my cousins Thanksgiving dinner. We were still talking about this place later. FOOD: For Thanksgiving we had the Pre Fixe menu which started with a very delicious soup, followed by a salad with vinegar, nuts, cranberries etc. After that we got the main dish which was turkey filled with super delicious things and meshed potatoes. My cousin had salmon instead of turkey and it was no problem to replace that. For dessert we could pick between cheesecake and pumpkin pie. We took both. And it’s a good amount of cake and it was fresh. At least we think it was. And then we got coffee and tea. Besides we ordered red and white wine which made the night even classier. LOCATION: The moment we walked in they check our RESERVATION and took our coats. It was tide, cozy and a bunch of people sitting there between candles. It’s a kind romantic, average and a little classy feel. It’s french so the tables are small. SERVICE: If I could rate the service I would say it was EXCELLENT. Friendly, professional, fast, welcoming and again I’m super glad we picked this place for Thanksgiving. Overall we spend $ 73(incl. tip + tax) each for a pre fixe Thanksgiving 5 course menu with wine(the menu itself was only $ 40 something. Very reasonable for that service and food. THANKYOU Bistro Les Amis for giving us an awesome Thanksgiving dinner.

Bravo !
