First trip to the city and we were going for unique food experiences. We were drawn here by pictures and reviews, and we were not disappointed. The service was outstanding. Our waiter was friendly and conversational. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming. The best part of course was the incredible food! We had beoff, seafood, and the pork cabbage rolls. One was better than the next. For a very enjoyable dining out, put this quaint spot at top of your Soho list!

Horrible. Whoever the manager was that night(he was short, I didn’t get his name) was very rude. My friend didn’t think he was the manager but it seemed like he called all the shots. He was completely rude to his staff also. I got there early and my friends were running late. He told one of the servers I couldn’t be seated until everyone was here. They arrived 15 mins late. He said you have to leave by a certain time because your reservation was earlier. I was fine with that, but there was hardly anyone there throughout the whole night . At dinner, my friend was choosing between two wines and the waitress said she can bring both so my friend can taste the wine to decide. Then the short rude man comes over and doesn’t want to bring both wines and said the best way to decide is if he helps to pick. We already ordered some food or I would have left. At least she tasted the wine before we ordered a bottle because it wasn’t to her liking.(I guess him assessing what wine wasn’t the best way to know what my friend wanted). The food is way over priced for what they offer, and it’s more of a fusion then French food. I saw the reviews one Unilocal and open table and thought it would be «a gem hidden in soho». Yes it’s hidden– stay hidden. Perhaps we went on the wrong night. The rest of the staff were great just seemed they were walking on eggshells because they were afraid to upset their boss for the night.

Went here for my birthday dinner last year with my husband. I got the special — a crispy duck entrée that was amazing! My husband got the Chou Farci, which was pork shoulder, chorizo, and mushroom wrapped in a cabbage leaf. We absolutely loved both dishes! We also got the stuffed mushrooms as an app and they were amazing as well! The service was great. Our waiter/sommelier was able to help us pick the perfect bottle of wine to complement our meals and was super helpful and attentive. The only con I have is that this was June so it was super hot outside but they didn’t have any air conditioning on.

Small and cozy gem of a place. Great execution on a variety of dishes that we had there. I remember having some amazing sardines there. Charcuterie was on point. Excellent wine selection. Great for two people or for max since it’s so tiny.

I was dying to love this place. It’s such a cute, quaint, well decorated space despite being in a tiny basement. I’ve only been for brunch, which was meh, but I may force myself to give it another shot for dinner, especially since I’m frequently in the area. Food: Cauliflower gratin was mushy — I wish the top was crisper and the florets cut into smaller pieces. Piquillo peppers were bland and need more pop in flavor. The cheese plate was nothing to write home about especially for a French place! I will say, though, the bread pudding earns one whole star :) Service: Had to ask the servers for things repeatedly before they would follow through. They also just weren’t very friendly…

Went for brunch and I loved it! Delicious food — I had the omelette, and I’m not sure how, but it’s the best omelette I’ve ever had. Maybe it was the texture of the eggs? Honestly, I don’t know, but it was amazing. My boyfriend had the pain perdu, and I only had a bite, but it was the most scandalously wonderful thing I’ve ever tasted. It seemed pretty rich, so I’m not sure how he ate the entire plate, but he finished it before I was even halfway done with my meal — so I think that means it was pretty good! The ambiance was great. Minimal, but very nice. We were a group of 5, and we were able to have a great conversation without shouting at each other The server we had was a bit strange. He rolled his eyes a lot, and made me feel a little awkward — but I just chalked that up to the atmosphere. Overall, great food, great ambiance, and fast service. I would definitely recommend it.

Cocotte is a really cute date spot. We had no reservations on a Monday night but was able to get a seat at the bar quickly. It’s not a big place but it’s so cozy. It will be great to be dine in on an especially windy winter night. Our server really made Cocotte characteristic. He’s so energetic and superb at his job. Some people may take his way of talking the wrong way and think he is bossy. When my friend ordered a dish, I pointed straight to the special menu and suggested we make a different choice. He did that twice for the app and main menu. I had no problem with this and I do admit my friend wasn’t as assertive either. I’m not sure if our waiter was the owner/manager but he seemed like the only guy taking orders, clearing out the dishes, seating tables-basically run the entire place minus the cooking. I did see a waitress, but this being said, he did an awesome job. The food did take a little bit of time to come out, but I don’t think it was because he was the only one running the place in the beginning. The guy does an almost excellent job explaining the specials. I say almost because. he has a European accent(I’m guessing it’s French?) and he talks fast too. I couldn’t catch every single descriptive word coming out of his mouth. You’ll understand what I mean when I mention the name of the dishes. You’ll catch the main keywords for sure though, like«duck seared in» blahblah though don’t worry. It’s better for you to go try the food here yourself, rather than me trying to explain. It’s worth checking this place out, and the server will help you through too. We ordered. App: Txipirones– baby octopus? sorry I can’t give you much details Champignons Farcis-suffed mushroom with chorizo and garlic cream. Main: Chou Farci– pork shoulder and chorizo wrapped in a cabbage Garbuire-duck with lots of beans Dessert: Chocolate mousse-sounds so typical but does not taste common at all! very slight crunch from the crust and the mousse part is so delicate! I personally liked the champignons farcis was better than the special app, txipirones. Chou farci reminded me of a Korean dish so I wasn’t blown away on the taste. But if you like the tender pork that falls off easily everytime you pull on the mean with your fork, you’ll probably like it. I had high expectations for the Garbuire but I didn’t love it. The duck meat itself was so tender and juicy. I loved how it wasn’t drenched in some sauce, but there were too many beans for me. All of the dishes we got was really unique. I never had this kind of French food before so it was an awesome experience. I wasn’t super blown away by the taste but maybe it’s because I was expecting the«typical» French food. I will definitely come back to try the other stuff.(I’m getting the chocolate torte again). Plus, I liked the waiter’s attentiveness and the way he served.

Planned on going to CPK for brunch, but the wait was an hour, so we wondered around and decided to settle on Cocotte. It was on our place to try, so why not. We were seated right away without a reservation. The place was almost full, so we were lucky. The place is small, but full of chic, cozy character. I loved the black and white, graphic tiles on the ceiling. Everything was so stinkin adorable, down to the short and wide water glass. I ordered the Benedict Florentine and my hubby got the pre-fix($ 35) with spinach, mushroom omelette and blueberry ricotta pancakes. Everything was great, except for the pancakes. They were not so light and fluffy, but they tasted fine. I loved the portion size, just the right amount of potatoes and salad with the Benedict. Seasoning was just right, and everything came out hot and tasty. The beverage is pricy, so I could see the prefix being a good deal if you want juice and coffee. I think ala carte is the way to go if you just want one dish and a drink. The pre fixe allows you to choose one savory and one sweet dish, but they are smaller portion than what you get ala carte. There was a group speaking French next to us and the waitress had a thick French accent. I felt like I was transported to Paris. Loved the vibe and the food. Would love to try dinner there some day.

Really really good bomb dot Com came here on a hot date w my better half a couple weeks ago, and I’m happy we chose it. I got the seafood paella on special and it was so good I almost didn’t want to share it w my hubby lol. he got the boeuf dish which was melt in your mouth amazing, and we got the duck fat potatoes which were really good but he loved them more strongly than me. and the chorizo stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer so good I would get these again, and raw oysters which were done perfectly. The service was great, the vibe was really nice and the food was fantastic. It’s a small spot but I loved it and I’m so glad we came.

I love French food and this is my go-to place for homey French food when I’m in the mood. This might not be the best French food in the city. For sure this is no Jean George or Daniel. But just no-nonsense straight up French comfort food. The food is what I would think that the French chefs at Daniel and Jean George cook and eat for dinner at home. Some of my favorites on the menu: chorizo stuffed mushrooms, hanger steak with wine reduction sauce. Pulled pork is nice but better with a vegetable side dish. Cauliflower gratin as a side dish is my weakness especially after a hard stressful day. The space is tiny and tight but feels cozy and intimate. It gets really loud if you have the wrong group dining next to your table but it never really bothered me because this is a place to let go and unwind. The service is not top notch but efficient and non-offensive. I don’t know what it is about this place. But I just feel comfortable here and always come away satisfied.

Just there for the first time this past Friday and was impressed, first by the greeting at the door, they knew exactly who we were when I said my name before they even looked at the reservation — impressive. The food was very well prepared and very tasty. The atmosphere is very«New York» as you step down into their establishment off Thompson street above. Will surely come back!

This Soho gem is truly an in-the-know kind of place. Stop in for brunch and you will inevitably be transported to a French café in Paris. The gentleman who mans the espresso machine and serves at the bar is simply charming. He makes the best coffee drinks I have ever had. Just watching the technique he employs to create the picturesque fluffy foam with beautiful rich clumps of cinnamon is art in motion. I cannot recall his name(for certain he knows who he is if he is reading this review)…but he also made recommendations that were on point– eggs Benedict with homemade hollandaise that will transform your idea of what it really is when done right and urging us to stick with just two(not three or four) ingredients for the omelet. If you listen to him, you will not be disappointed. We were told that by skipping dessert, in particular the brioche bread pudding, that it was basically a crime but alas-we had no room after the bountiful brunch we had just enjoyed. The place is small and fills up quickly so best to make a reservation if you want a table. And you know the place is a-okay because you literally can watch the chefs and runners prepare in the kitchen as you make your way to the bathroom. Cleanliness is godliness at this quaint Soho spot and with exquisite food, an intimate European vibe and service that truly cares — cocotte has it all! Cannot wait to return.

Came here for brunch this past Sunday and was so incredibly happy to not have to wait in a 2 hour line! My friend recommended this place as a cute little brunch spot and I was excited to try it out. We ordered: 1. Mushroom Scramble — ordered this on our waitresses recommendation. and it was awesome. The potatoes were perfectly done and the eggs were soft, not watery. and the mushrooms. Ohhhhh the mushrooms.sigh. They were delicious! 2. Bread Pudding — This came in the CUTEST loaf pan i’ve ever seen. It looked like a tiny le creuset casserole pan. hehehe! But it was the perfect texture, crispy on the outside and made with wonderful bits of tart fruit in it. The sweet/savory combo were great! Portions are small for the price, but the quality was definitely on point. The coffee here is pretty strong, so definitely had a good kick to it. I also have to mention that they don’t serve bloody mary’s here. so stick to mimosas? Overall, a great pick for a cozy brunch with all your favorite peeps! :)

Really good. I got their hangar steak(medium rare) with the red wine reduction and it was one of those dishes that you bite into and go «wow, this is fantastic.» Also had their duck fat potatoes and a few bites of the paella risotto that was on special as well as the stuffed mushrooms and chorizo. Everything was great. Service was great and the prices were quite reasonable. My one critique(such as it is) is that this is a really tight space. Be prepared to be dining in very close proximity to strangers. For some people, I guess it could be an opportunity to make new friends. Personally, I have no interest in making friends with random strangers, so it is not really ideal, but definitely a small price to pay for really well done food.

Great little spot in the heart of SoHo turning out some pretty big flavors. The roasted mussels are the way to start here but don’t overlook the leeks and foie gras appetizer. The Cocotte burger served on focaccia is nice twist on the classic hamburger.

Came here for brunch on a Saturday. The place seemed chill and relax, however, the service was extremely slow — the server forgot about our appetizer, the main course took longer than usual, and accidently spilled my beer on the table and didn’t even replace it with a new one. Food was decent, but how hard is it to make an omelet? and when you charge $ 16 for one($ 19 with an additional topping), it shouldn’t be terrible. I won’t return for sure.

4.5 My bf and I were here last Thursday after watching a concert at City Winery. We had made last minute reservations to Cocotte via Open Table and easily booked reservations at the time we had wanted. Cocotte is this little basement restaurant with chalkboard walls, and mix of intimate hightop communal tables and along the wall booth seating. It’s a total local spot, with a liveliness that doesn’t stop until midnight. The food is slightly above your average but excellent and sinfully rich. The BABYSQUIDINITSOWNINK is(say it Spanish): FENOMENAL. The service is superb and impressively enough available in English, Spanish and French. The wine selection is great, cheaper if by the bottle. I would highly recommend this place for intimate dates or double dates or first dates.

If you ever find yourself missing France, you definitely have to come to Cocotte. This restaurant is pretty much as French as you can get in NYC and I love it. With waiters bustling about speaking French and a menu that boasts French dishes that I would not understand if not for the English descriptions, this cozy restaurant exemplifies the beautiful French-Basque culture. My family and I shared the Champignons Farcis to start and it was honestly probably one of the best mushroom dishes I have ever had. Stuffed with chorizo, chorizo chip + garlic cream, those mushrooms were absolutely delicious. I definitely could have easily polished off the entire thing myself. I’ve heard rave reviews of the Joues de Porc and let me tell you, I was not disappointed one bit. Although the cocotte the pork cheeks comes in appears to be quite small, don’t let that fool you. It is actually stuffed with piece after piece of tender, juicy pork served on top of delicious scalloped potatoes. Although a tad bit on the heavy side, my stomach definitely did not mind. I also made sure to get a side of the Cou-Fleur, which was heavenly, but also on the heavy side. I typically love cauliflower in any shape and form, but this dish has now skyrocketed to the very top of my list of how I want my cauliflower done. Also seemingly small, but completely packed to the brim. For dessert, we split the Pain Perdu and the Tarte au Citron. The lemon tart was a tad bit too tart for me, but I loved the French Toast and not only because it was such a unique dessert item. I probably gained at least 10 pounds from this meal, but I ain’t even mad. It was worth every pound.

Came here with 5 friends and loved it. The service was excellent. The waiter was even polite when one of my friends was being a jerk that night. I liked the wine selection there. The wine complimented the meal really well. My boyfriend and I had the Parmentier, $ 9,(Potato Leek Soup), Gratin de Chou-Fleur, $ 12,(Cocotte of Cauliflower and Bechamel Gratin), Rillette de Canard, $ 20,(Duck Confit and Rustic Pâté with Roasted Chipollinis and Mustard). The potato leek soup was really creamy and delicious. It had the perfect balance of potato, leeks and soft mouth texture. It was really flavorful. The cauliflower was so mash potato like that you could probably trick any child into loving this dish. It was insanely satisfying. The duck was probably my favorite part of the meal. it was tender, falling apart and the onions and mustard was wonderful sides that complimented the taste of the duck perfectly. For dessert we had lattes, $ 6.50, and the Tarte au Citron, $ 9.00,(Lemon pie). The latte was decent and the lemon pie was exactly what I wanted. The sweet and slightly tart dessert was the perfect way to close an excellent meal. Their lunch hours of operation are Monday– Friday 12 pm. to 5 p.m., dinner hours are 5 p.m.- 12 a.m. 7 days a week, their brunch hours are 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. on Saturday & Sundays. I highly recommend checking them out.

Like most of the other Unilocalers wrote, Cocotte is an intimate, cozy and very«Frenchy». Food is delicious, the ingredients are not only fresh but top quality, the only thing is that I left wanting… the portion was a bit small. I came here with some friends for Sunday brunch, most of us had different type of egg dishes. I was the only one ordering soup and salad, because they can’t do egg white. I was very disappointed, BUT, the salad and soup were simply delicious. The vegetable tastes like vegetable, I ate the salad without dressing, it was full of flavour. Everyone was very happy their food. I’d come back to try dinner.
