Update: 7÷24÷2013: Lippi’s cart is fixed and she is back in business. And better than ever. I had a pita falafel with added rice to it and wow! That was at her suggestion. I want to go back for another… Word is getting out about the food here and it was starting to crowd. well worth the short wait.

I realize this isn’t the famous NY halal cart with over 3000 reviews. I never tried it so I can’t compare. However, I can tell you that this place is probably just as amazing, without the long wait. Conveniently located near Times Square, I came here after spending an hour or so just taking in the scenery. The hustle and bustle made me want to just chill out and enjoy some bomb ass food. I got one of their most famous dishes, the chicken and lamb over rice. It’s quite simple: chicken kabob, lamb shwarma, rice, lettuce, and their out of this world white sauce. The whole combo just mindf**ked me. I swear I was on such a food high after the first few bites that I just phased out everything around me. The meat is so deliciously juicy and well marinated. The rice is bursting with seasoning. The sauce just brings it all together in this magical David Blaine-like way that you can’t possibly fathom how someone could come up with such a simple yet delectable creation. I give these guys major props. If you want to avoid the long lines at the 53rd&6th Halal Cart, just come here and you won’t be disappointed. Friendly guys cooking it all up too!

I work in the area, and I’m always on the lookout for good lunch options. I’m so glad I discovered this place! The lady who does the cooking is such a happy and sweet person it brightens my day to see her. As for the food, I’m a big fan of the Kati Rolls.(Pronounced kah-tee, as I recently learned.) They’re cooked to order, on the classic griddled bread with piles of meat and sauce. So far the sweet chili chicken is my favorite. They also offer meat over rice, and NYC standards like hot dogs and Italian sausage, in case you’re not feeling adventurous. Added bonus: They sell Thums Up cola(Mexican cokes are all the rage, but Indian cola is the next big thing: ). In addition to delicious food, her prices are very reasonable too – kati rolls are 2 for $ 6. Which, is sort of a mixed blessing: good for the wallet, bad for the waist line.
