Best Bagel, yessss it is! When I think of NYC, I think of these bagels. They are that good! The line was backed up to the entrance and we were still out of there in 5 minutes. Friendly as ever and working fast! Hats off to them!

I’m staying down the street from this place while on a work trip, and I’m so glad that I discovered it through Unilocal. They really do have the best bagels and coffee here, I’ve made this my breakfast spot every day since the first time. Honestly, this place has ruined all other bagels for me, because I haven’t been able to find anything like this on the west coast(home). I’ll be bringing some home with me on the plane. The coffee is really good too, and pairs very well with anything you get to eat.

So good. Best bagel place I’ve had in NYC and I’ve lived here for 5 years. I got the onion bagel with salmon lox, scallion cream cheese, lettuce and tomato. When I opened it some people asked me what it was and they ordered the same thing. Lol

Food: Best Bagel and Coffee truly lives up to its name. I was impressed by their extensive bagel selection and types of sandwiches, not to mention their actual bagels are fresh baked and doughy! I don’t eat bacon, but from what I saw, it was crispy, thick-cut and they definitely don’t skimp. Their coffee(iced or hot /hazelnut or regular) is also delicious! Service: Don’t let the long line and packed venue fool you, their fast-moving staff will get you in and out in no time. Price: $

By farther freshest best bagels I have ever had in New York. The place is small but they are super efficient. Just jump in line on the right to the order here sign. Be prepared as they are fast but you get a glimpse of the hot bagels coming out of the oven. Follow the line to the Pay Here sign and order coffees and drinks. Simple and fast. Keep in mind if u just want coffee cut to the pay here, they expect it. We have been here every day and I am taking on back to California.

if you are on Manhattan, you must must try. it’s probably the best breakfast item ever, and I don’t even really like bagels. we had the lox bagel with scallion spread, lettuce tomato onion… the works. and my mouth is watering from talking about it. the smoked salmon was simply amazing. they put so much there and the bagels were toasted perfectly. We got one which was $ 12.5, but it was enough for us to share. I definitely recommend, it was amazing.

I’ve been meaning to try this place for a while, but the urge always strikes me on Sunday when Best Bagel is closed. Finally ventured there today after a trip to the nearby post office and was very glad I did. I’m the type of person to scarf down an entire lox bagel with fillings, and even though I read the reviews of how large these were, I didn’t think it would be a problem. The lox bagel here really is intimidatingly large — I finished half and really couldn’t venture on. Looks like I’ll be able to still enjoy Best Bagel and Coffee on a Sunday! Really though, they are very generous with the amount of lox and the price can’t be beat(~$ 12 with tax for a gigantic two-meal bagel). The hand rolled bagel is delicious and one of the best I’ve had in the city. I’m definitely coming here a lot more often on Saturdays now that I know that this place truly lives up to its name.

Coworker and I craved a good bagel with cream cheese. She went on Unilocal and the first place that popped up was Best Bagel and Coffee! How to order your bagel: The shop is small. You walk straight to the back and place your order.(A list of bagels and cream cheese is taped to the left side of the counter, where the cream cheeses are stored). You will receive a receipt of your order. Take that and pay at the cashier. Now wait for your number to be called. We got our orders to go. I was holding onto the top of my brown paper bag when I had a sudden feeling that the paper bag was going to ripe. Yes, the bagel was that heavy, weight wise. I ordered a toasted everything bagel with lox(smoked salmon), jalapeño cream cheese, lettuce and tomato. They do not skimp on the fillings! Omg, the bagel was so good. I had half for breakfast, and just had the other half for lunch. The cream cheese was delicious, slightly spicy, and savory. There was so much lox in the bagel, it was spilling out of the bagel after every bite! The lox was slightly smoky flavored with a great texture. The tomato and lettuce just complimented the lox so well. I’m still feeling so full typing this review. My coworker and I kept talking about our delicious bagel for hours!

Best bagels is true to its name! Most enjoy the everything wholewheat bagel with fresh smoked salmon and light scallion cream cheese. The light lox spread is also a nice and less expensive option. Top it with tomatoes and onions for a devine combination. The bagels are baked on the premises and extraordinarily fresh. Tips: There is typically a long line, but it moves quickly and is efficient. Limited seating.

Oh yes, and the bagel sandwiches sure live up to the name of the shop. The place is tiny but packs a huge punch. I just couldn’t get enough while visiting the city with my dad and daughter. YUM!!!

Done right mind blowing magical bagels! Dude, I am speechless at how good it is or maybe it’s because I’m still chomping on it. I’ve never had the urge to write a review as I’m devouring my food, so kudos to you! The biggest, freshest, chewiest, and fluffiest bagel I have ever had. The outside has an unbelievable crunch and the inside is soft and chewy yet dense. Hot diggity, these bad boys are sooo GOOD, I could even eat it plain all day, everyday. I was full after half, but I couldn’t stop eating. Envision Cookie Monster, but with a bagel… OMNOMNOMNOM. As a result, I am now extremely full and in dire need of a nap… zZz. The service is friendly, fast and efficient. Although, I wish they made sourdough or blueberry bagels… hint hint… nudge nudge… wink…wink…eh eh? P. S. The line is damn long before work hours, but not too shabby around 10ish. XOXO Meggypoo(Sorry, I’ve been watching too much Gossip Girl =x)

I’ve worked in the area for six years and have only now found this place. What the heck? I’ve walked by it probably tons of times without giving it a second thought. With so many places in the city as generically named as Best Bagel and Coffee — and not being nearly the best anything — can you really blame me? But this place is legit the Best. I can’t speak for the coffee, since I didn’t have any, but the bagel? Hot damn. And hot it was. There was no need to toast it since it came fresh out of the oven. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel, and everything about it was perfect. I shared it with my friend, and it was a good enough breakfast for both of us, since the sucker is huge! The line is intimidating, but they get through it really quickly. It’s impressive. I was disappointed that, after I paid, I was order #83 and the next number they called was #61. But I guess a good majority of #62−82 was a more complicated order than mine, because my number was called pretty soon! Best Bagel and Coffee, you really are the Best Bagel. I have to do everything in my power to avoid having a bagel every day. If I knew about this place years ago, I’d probably be significantly heavier…

Arrived in NYC early morning after a redeye flight. Decided to come here per Unilocal recc before heading out to the Empire State Building. Service was good. People were nice and food came quick. My friend got the breakfast sandwich. It was big but bland to me. I got the bagel with plain cream cheese and smoked salmon and it was the best one I’ve had. Worth the price.

Non-pretentious place to get a bagel and coffee. Prices are cheap, bagels are delicious, and coffee is hot. I only got butter and jelly on my bagel, so it wasn’t overflowing with stuff like the other bagels I saw — which is a good thing cause I think they overdo it with the cream cheeses. It’s pretty packed, but the line moves relatively quickly. FYI, this is a to-go place only. There’s seating for probably 8 people total.

Finally… I have been trying to get here since my last trip to NYC in May and dare I say — it was well worth the wait. This little shop of bagels and cream cheesy goodness hit the proverbial spot. I chose my item based off the Unilocal pics… bacon, egg and cheese(on an egg bagel) but had to add my down south flare — throw a little jalapeño cream cheese on there for me please and thank you! The bagel was just the right amount of warm and toasty. It all meshed so wonderfully together! Line moved fast and orders came out even faster. Staff was nice enough. They are lacking in the dining area… Getting a table was like musical chairs as a kid… I got mine — you better get yours! All in all… Great breakfast experience! It’s that little bagel shop you take all your friends and family to when they come to town and want to know what«Real New York bagels taste like — Ayyye». Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day — and I’m glad I started my day here! Walking here from the subway kind of felt like the«real NY.» Not very touristy here, so if it wasn’t for Unilocal I wouldn’t have known about it. The line was out the door when I arrived. Although, the line was long, the other reviews are correct. The line moves pretty quickly, and they do have a great method in place. When you get into the building, you will have a cooler w/the soft drink selection. They actually have Pepsi and Coke products, which was a nice surprise. After you make your drink selection, you continue to the back of the building and you will place your order. They will give you a ticket w/your #. You proceed then to the register and you pay for your order. After you pay, you wait for your ticket # to be called. Which is just a few moments! However, VERY limited seating. Only 3 actual tables. There are one high top, and then a counter where you could eat. Unfortunately, when I received my order all the spots were taken. I walked down the street a little bit and was able to find a place to eat my bagel. So many selections made it hard to choose but I opted for a garlic bacon w/the bacon cheddar cream cheese. The bacon cheddar cream cheese good was good, but just not what I was expecting. Good flavor — but I was expecting it to be a little but more flavorful. The garlic bagel though was great! Staff here was very friendly too. It was a great find thanks to Unilocal!:)

Tried the Atlantic salmon bagel with all the veggies. Paired with everything bagel and scallion cream cheese. A bit pricey at $ 13, but enough to share with someone else. They make your sandwich in under a minute, so don’t fret about the long line. Seems like they offer more than just excellent Bagels — salads and sandwiches as well. They offered an asparagus and chicken salad that looked wonderful! Will return for a fantastically chewy and perfectly crispy bagel.

This is an excellent bagel and sandwich shop. Though she be but little, she is fierce! All the sandwiches I ever had from here are delicious and generous with quality ingredients. Recently I ordered the California Wrap and it was killer with 75% delicious grilled chicken cut into strips with evenly distributed avocado, red peppers, lettuce, tomato and ranch dressing in this densely packed wrap. Easily shared with 2 people or good for the biggest appetites. Although there can be lines this place is very efficient. You order towards the back and pay near the front. Another person arranges the orders on the front counter so once your number is called you just grab and go. Fantastic system and they are usually on the ball. A couple of small tables are in the space, but I usually get mine to go as it is usually hectic in here. It is not the most inexpensive sandwich place, but you get quality for the money.

The bacon, egg and cheese on everything bagel was yummy as hell! I feel so happy along with the cold pressed coffee. What a nice combo for the early morning! Watch out for the lines. Seating is limited. There is a good chance by the time you get your order in your hands, there might be a few seats available but don’t count on it. Well worth the long wait for a delicious bagel.

Everyone told me that I must try a New York bagel. This shop was the closest to my hotel and had great reviews. We shared a smoked salmon on an onion bagel with everything on it minus the capers. This spot seems to be popular among tourists and local and is smaller so doesn’t have too much seating but we managed to swoop up on a table. In about 5 – 7 minutes after ordering it was ready. The bagel sandwich was big, filled with plenty of fish and fixings. The bagel was toasted and crispy but still chewy(is this a good characteristic of a NY bagel)? The smoked salmon was so good and super fresh. They also didn’t put an absurd amount of cream cheese like most places do. $ 10 for the bagel which we split and filled us up for hours. Definitely recommend if you’re near the area.
