I ordered the everything bagel with roast beef, onions, lettuce, mustard, tomato and cheese. A large water and a big cookies came to $ 14. The meal had me full from 3pm –11pm.

My wife and I stopped in this morning since we were staying at a nearby hotel. We got bagels and coffee and thought the place was fine. The tables were clean and the food was fine. Granted, this was a Sunday morning so it wasn’t as chaotic as I imagine it must be on weekdays. It was extremely hot though.

Seriously. People are in a rush and they run very inefficiently. If you’re trying to get something quick before getting on the vamoose bus don’t bother with this place.

The bagel lady. Small woman on register 1, at least she was today. HOWEXTREMELYRUDE. I got to the line granted I had to look into my wallet for my business card. After I find it I hand it to her and she tells me plainly they have a $ 7 min. for cards. I explain that unfortunately I have no cash. She ask again… no cash? I say again… unfortunately not. So clearly she and I are already off to a GREAT start. I hand her my card, into her hands. She swipes then tosses the card on the counter down at me. I must say, I was so so very disgusted. If anyone hands you a card in your hand you should be handing it back to them in their hand. What a low form of human decency and customer service. I will not be visiting this location again and I intend to make a formal complaint to the manager later this afternoon.

I wouldn’t go in here with high expectations or anything, but it’s cute and not as dirty as previous reviews suggest. Long line on a Wednesday morning, but service was quick. I had a salt bagel with cream cheese and tomato, and it was AMAZING. If we had both gotten bagels, I’m sure I would give more stars. However: My husband got a little breakfast platter with bacon and eggs, and they forgot the bacon and undercooked/underseasoned his potatoes. So, really, just get a bagel. Don’t mess around with the diner-style breakfast here — Manhattan has a billion diners for that. That’s directed at both customer and restaurant. The bagels, though, are great!

I picked this spot due to it’s location(one block from Madison Square Garden) and price($ 7.95 for a burger platter in Manhattan!). As noted, tables can be dirty at times but the floor was constantly being mopped. No toilet paper. service was quite good — prompt, friendly, attentive. my son and I both had the Texas Burger(with bacon and a fried egg.). The burger appeared to be a frozen, round patty, lacking flavor. The bun(untoasted) did not support the sandwich well. The bacon was a little under done, but the fried egg was *perfectly* cooked. Fries were battered and on point.

Bagel Maven rocks, however the name is misleading, it would suggest it’s just bagels and the like, but they have a full menu. Their bagels are quite tasty and they are always generous with their fabulous spreads. I’m a fan of the whole wheat everything with scallions and cream cheese. Bagel Maven should be 4+ stars, I have a hunch there are some negative shill reviews on Unilocal.Their location is on the corner of 7th avenue, so it’s a great place to grab something yummy to eat and then soak up the bustle of the city on the other side of the window. Don’t forget to try their pastrami sandwich or fresh made salads.

I walk by this place almost daily on my way to work — usually pretty crowded, so this morning I decided to stop in for a bagel. There is no clear sign letting you know where to order, people just stand in random places. Anyway, I went to the counter and it took a minute for someone behind it to even acknowledge me. I ordered my bagel, and it was done pretty quickly — that was a plus! I ordered a lightly toasted bagel with lox and cream cheese. There was a decent amount of lox and cream cheese, and the lightly toasted was right on. I would just suggest to the owners to have a little better customer service.

Unilocal asks, «You’ve checked in here 2 times! What keeps you coming back?» When it’s this cold out in January and you’re staying at a nearby hotel and just want a quick breakfast sandwich, this is pretty much your only choice in the immediate area. One year later and bagels are meh. Sandwiches are meh. Service is still grumpy. There will not be a third time, that’s for sure. Walk a little further and find something better.

On a recent trip to NYC we stayed new Bagel Maven. I’m a sucker for anywhere with Bagel in the name so it was only right we tried it. While the store was crowded and it was pure luck we got a table the service was on point getting everyone’s food prepared quickly and right, the prices were good, and the food was delicious. Again, I’m no resident New Yorker but this Florida girl would go back anytime I was in the city!

If you want a $ 8.50 bagel with LOX, and the worst customer service you’ve ever had in your life, this is the place for you. Never coming here again.

Bagel was decent, amount of spread was generous, and the prices were good. But the tables were dirty, and the space was hot like an oven. I’d go again, but next time I’d grab the food and go eat elsewhere.

Bagel Maven was close to Eventi, so when in NY you must have a bagel! We ventured out and ordered 2 everything bagels, lattes, and cereal for the kids. Reading everyone else’s reviews, I agree it’s not the cleanest place in town, but it was close and worth the walk as I thought our bagels were good. I was expecting sub par service, and I never once felt that way. The woman taking our order was polite and made us a decent latte. There is not s huge menu but come on it’s a bagel shop. Bagels, bagel breakfast sandwiches, bagel sandwiches(duh). Plus you will will find a few convenience store items. No complaints here!

Bagel Maven. What can I say? It’s a great stand-by location to get some breakfast while in NYC. Our office is nearby — so I have to stop in to get my morning bagel. There’s loads of other stuff here too. The line is long but it moves. Know what you want or you get the stink eye from the locals. Cash is quicker then their electronic payment system(which really needs an updating).

Defaulted here after forgetting Best Bagels is closed on Sunday. Bagels here are a decent size, but lacking the chewy fluffy consistency that I love. I ordered a turkey sausage egg and cheese on toasted everything. Order came out correct, but the turkey sausage was a bit sketch. Honestly, it kind of looked like a hotdog sliced in half or kebasa? Place was a bit pricey too, no hurry to come back.

They are very cheap with the cream cheese/spreads. I left with my food to eat elsewhere, and realized they had barely applied any veggie cream cheese to my bagel. So disappointed that I paid $ 3.50 for this bland tasting, dry bagel.

I got a bagel not toasted with butter and the guy barely buttered my bagel! And I had to ask him to butter the other half of the bagel! Very poor service, they don’t even try to please you.

Decent prices but horrible service. They can’t hear anything you’re saying and have you repeat things a billion times. The food looks like it’s been sitting out for days. And the seating arrangement is absolutely filthy. I would recommended going elsewhere for your café needs!

I have only been here once, but I had a good experience and will be back. I rolled in at 9am, looking to stock up for a bus ride, and the folks behind the counter were attentive and friendly. I requested lunch food and they were happy to make it, even though it was clearly breakfast time(this was my second stop – the first shop I visited had lunch ingredients prepped to go, but the clerk laughed in my face when I asked about ordering a sandwich). The food was fresh, yummy, normally priced for midtown, and the portions were big. Next time I will actually try their bagels…

I’m easy to please. Give me a salt bagel and I’m happy. I got mine to take back to DC. I am glad I did. I had half for breakfast today; toasted and slathered with cream cheese. Their bagels are huge, and just $ 1.15. I can’t complain about service. One gal handed me my bagel, one gal rang me up. I was in and out in less than three minutes. It’s conveniently located on the corner where folks catch the Vamoose bus back to DC.
