Watch out for the added gratuity on your bill. Had a super fun time Make sure you eat before because the food sucked . Warning They added in an 18./. Gratuity for just a party of two. For the dueling pianos event, for which we already paid a ticket entrance fee of $ 15 per person They got a double tip as I did not notice this. My friend who joined us also double tipped, Of course they never brought this to our attention.

Came here this Saturday after being really rudely turned away from Brandy’s Piano Bar on the upper east side. We were a group of 12 celebrating a bridal shower and the bride seemed very sad that we couldn’t do what we’d planned(Brandy’s), but Bar Nine came to the rescue! The manager, Greg(I’m pretty sure?), was so nice and reserved us two big tables. He personally came over to make sure we were having a good time. Service was ok, dueling pianos were great and so much fun! I’m really happy we were able to salvage the night with the excellent management here. Great time! Very friendly staff.

Service is somewhat lacking but eventually you will get served. The happy hour is a good deal and the drinks aren’t watered down. The snacks/food on the happy hour menu is good. It’s a great place to come for parties and just to dance and sing. The piano players know how to put in a excellent show. I think there are Groupon deals available so be on the look out for them.

It was pretty cool, but very crowded. It was cool that there was live music, but there are plenty of bars around that you can get into easier. The bouncers stopped us at the door and didn’t want to let us in, but once we got in we found a place to stand around the sames. I would go here if you are looking for some place with bar games and billiards, but honestly that’s the best part.

Arrived at Bar Nine last night with some girlfriends. It was around 8:30ish and the place was hopping. The seating for the piano show was filled and the dueling pianos were on point. There were space for my girls and I to chill at the bar and sing along. The other spaces were filled with darts, ski-ball and pool. Drinks were regular dive bar drinks. Food was regular bar food. Nachos and wings were good. The dueling piano players were so entertaining. Ppl gave request with tips $ and they sang a range of songs. Some times there were piano and drum solos which was awesome too. At 11 the pianos called it a night and the seats were cleared. The floor opened up for dancing and hanging with friends. The music was good at that time as well as music videos played on the tvs.

Ahhhhhhhh. Bar nine. I love this place. The food the drinks and the dueling pianos. Yess i am a fan of the whole 2 pianos and they take requests and the whole bar sings along to the songs they play. I came here on my birthday because i just wanted a good time and boy did i enjoy it. They sung happy birthday to me(i didnt have to tell them i became a regular without knowing) and there was a couple there who had just gotten married and they were enjoying themselves until they plane was leaving that night. The drinks are kinda pricey but this is ny. If you dont plan on spending rent at a bar your not a native new yorker lol.

My experience at Bar Nine was a bit of a mixed bag. We showed up around 9 on a Saturday. The place was absolutely packed in the front so we squeezed into a small spot at the bar while we waited for the rest of our friends to show up. Beers were $ 8, not outrageous but not cheap. The dueling pianos were quite entertaining, there was at least one bachelorette party and the guys were quite raunchy. Crowd was mixed though probably leaned middle aged. When our friends show up we went to the back which was pretty uncrowded and quiet enough to have a conversation. In the back they had 2 ski-ball machines, a pool table, a unpowered ms pac man, and a big buc hunter. I threw $ 5 into the left ski-ball machine only to find out that it was broken. There were only 4 balls in the machine and they wouldn’t feed properly, it was essentially unplayable and I chalked it up to an idiot tax. There was a waitress for the back area so you didn’t have to run to the front bar to get drinks. She wasn’t the friendliest and would disappear for long periods but she got the job done. In the back I started ordering buckets of PRB, for $ 16 it was fairly economical. After the pianos were finished they played a decent mix of music. We stayed until around 12 and while I had a decent time it’s not the type of place I would frequent. I wouldn’t necessarily mind coming back though.

Four stars goes solely for the dueling piano on the weekends. Awesome pianists and great vibe. It’s gets pretty full, which makes this all the more fun. However, I feel the bartenders can’t keep up with the volume. Also, though the pianist are awesome the last two times I went I noticed the same songs being played despite requests made. Coincidence? Perhaps. Awesome spot nonetheless. Random con: The bathrooms are located in what feels like the Ukraine.

Go here for dueling pianos ASAP!!! This was such a cool place. I loved the entire experience. They have skee-ball and other games. The bartenders were so nice and on point, my glass never went empty. All employees were nice and new what they were doing. Some of the nicest people ever. The dueling piano guys were so good! I laughed so hard and enjoyed their music. I really hope that everyone goes to this place if you’re in town. You won’t be disappointed.

Bar Nine must be making BANK off of this whole Dueling Pianos deal. I came in for a Friday night show with a Living Social deal — $ 20 for two tickets, two drinks, but the catch is that you still have a two drink minimum per person. Which wouldn’t be as bad if the drinks weren’t so expensive. I think we ended up paying almost $ 50 for four drinks. At least the service was good — our waitress was attentive even though she was serving a packed house. The show itself was okay — not really«dueling», so much as two guys taking song requests for tips(but not Bar Nine’s fault — this is just more of an FYI if you’re planning on going for Dueling Pianos). I wouldn’t be back for the show and with drinks costing as much as they do here, I can find a ton of other equally divey bars with much cheaper drinks. It is NYC after all.

Came here with some co-workers during their«dueling piano bar» night, and it was a ton of fun. I think you have to reserve in advance to secure seats in the front area to watch the guys playing, so keep that in mind. DRINKS: pretty good selection of draft beers, plus can/bottle beers, and cocktails. I was intrigued by the«patron cosmo» that someone in my party got, but she seemed to enjoy it. There’s also a PBR and a shot special, and a bucket of can beers special. All in all, you can likely find something you want here. FOOD: didn’t get a chance to indulge, but my co-worker really seemed to enjoy her wings! It’s pretty much pub style food, a/k/a mozzarella sticks, wings, chicken tenders, etc. SERVICE: a little on the slow side, but it was also super packed, so I’m sure that was part of it. It looked like there was only one server dealing with a pretty rambunctious crowd of people, so that couldn’t have been easy. However, we ended up getting charged for a beer that the table next to us ordered, and even after we told the server that it didn’t belong to us, it still showed up on our tab. So enjoy the free beer random dude next to us! PRICES: pretty standard for the area. If you stick with the specials, you can make it out pretty cheap. AMBIANCE: I don’t know how it is on the«other» nights, but the dueling piano night is great fun. We didn’t even make it back to where the skeeball(!!) table is. Plus there’s a pool table. Both of which were noticeably untouched during the dueling piano show. I take it this would be a fun place no matter what night it is.

So this was my first time at a live music bar and I must say I loved it. Wednesday night there is not much of a crowd which is good if your a person that hates crowds. The live band that we saw was called«superblack» and they were super amazing. The bar has a great ambience the drinks are fairly priced and the appetizers were half off until 8pm. Only thing I may say to expect is that if you go there don’t sit and expect to be served, you will have to get up and go to the bar to ask for whatever you need. Without a doubt this was a great first time live music bar experience for me. I’m sure you have read from other reviews they have a pool table skee ball and a photo booth to mess around with if you just not there to listen to the band.

Fun spot. Pool table. Skeeball. Photobooth! PBRs. Live music. Friendly bartenders. My one complaint would be the fact that the games area has black walls and available chalk. So there are chalk drawings everywhere. So you basically can’t really lean anywhere without getting chalk on you… Not a huge deal since I’ve been in dives where leaning on the wall left me with paint… but still.

Stumbled upon this bar while walking back from dinner on a Friday night. We heard the live music and walked in without any hesitation. A pretty cool place to grab drinks. There’s pool tables, skee ball, and video games. I also really liked the lighting in here. Service was a bit slow. It took a while but the patron cosmo was pretty good. The beer however was kinda warm which was gross. Also, It was pretty crowded so I’d suggest reservations if you’re going with a big group of people.

It’s surprisingly hard to find bars in NYC with live music. Bar Nine is one of the hidden gems without a cover and live music all the time. you’ll have to do some research if you’re in the mood for a specific type of music, but if you just want to hear something live, bar nine is just the place for you. Plenty of space to sit near and far from the stage, you’ll be sure to find just what you’re looking for at this spot!

Paid for a reservation for 19 people, when we arrived we were provided with seating for 12 in the back of the bar where we could not even see the dueling pianos. The pianists were a great time, so that made up for the other disappointments. Drinks were not consistent in taste at all, so we ended up sticking to mostly beers. They also did not tell us ahead of time that it could only be charged to one credit card.

What a cool place for live music and drinks! We walked into this bar for a birthday party. We had a few tables reserved for the party which was great considering it got really crowded. It was nice to have a ‘home base’. Drinks were decent but inconsistent. We ordered vodka tonics and each of them tasted different from one another. The service was good as well considering how crowded it was. Our party also has trays of food for the people who were there. Chicken tenders, tator tots, wings, nachos, and sliders… Regular bar food, nothing to write home about. The dueling pianos were the best part. They were full of energy and amazing! Great songs and an good vibe.

I celebrated my birthday here last night with the dueling pianos and it was perfect! My friends and I had such a great time and everyone was so accommodating. Greg, the host, was great from the very beginning when I called to make reservations. The pianists and drummer are so talented and a lot of fun. Thanks for having me up on stage and for letting me sing! I highly recommend this bar and the show. Thanks again for an amazing night :)

Not sure what this is… sports bar, dive bar, live music, trendy? In either case, cool place to grab a drink. Really spacious with tons of TVs. Kind of dive-y so don’t expect that much. Bartender could have been friendlier.

So the dueling pianos were absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, they didn’t make up for the horrendous service provided by our«waitress». I put waitress in quotes because I swear that a trained chimp could have done a better job than she did. Here’s just a few of the waitress’ accomplishments(and I wish I got her name so she could give her job to someone else already): — when a draft beer was ordered she brought the wrong beer in a bottle(knowingly) and when I questioned her about it she replied«but did you taste it? It’s good»(no I’m sorry I didn’t taste the beer I didn’t fucking order) — Cleared table before finished(thanks for asking by the way) — Didn’t bring water when asked because«it’ll take a while»(keep in mind we had an over $ 400 tab) — Didn’t bring pitcher of beer for over 20 minutes… and when asked what was going on with our ordered pitcher she responded«actually no you didn’t order a pitcher, here look» and showed us her iPad that she obviously hadn’t put the order in on. By the time we got the check we had had enough, time to LEAVE. I hope the owner knows who this waitress is, because this was an atrocity. By far the worst service of any bar/restaurant I’ve ever been to. RESPONSETOBAROWNERBELOW: We were there on 10/10, most of us don’t normally come to this area so a gift card won’t be necessary, but thank you for the offer. It’s just unfortunate that your bar has such a great act like the dueling pianos and then can’t hold customers because of the terrible service provided. The fact that you REQUIRE a 18% tip on all tables only tells your wait staff that they can do what they want, because frankly… it doesn’t matter, they’re going to walk away with a fat tip anyway. Either leave the tip up to the customer, or make it a tip free environment(because essentially that’s what it is anyway, but instead you’re just misinforming your customer about the price of your product). Unfortunately, the bar won’t be recommended to friends, as we left immediately after the performance for a bar down the block that had great service. To be frank, we were really just looking for any other bar(seemingly like everyone else in the bar who also left immediately following the performance.)

Two simple G&Ts were made with club soda instead of tonic water. When the server was informed of this, she wasn’t pleased and purposely made us wait nearly 30 minutes for new drinks. During that time she brought many rounds of drinks for nearby tables and continually said, «the drinks are coming.» We were fed up and decided to close out, and ironically, that’s when the drinks arrived. The bill included an automatic gratuity, which should only have been billed for parties of 5 or more. We asked the server to remove the gratuity on principle(there were only three people drinking), but she said, «I can’t do anything about it.» However, after some pressing she finally removed the auto gratuity. That’s not how good service is performed. We expected much more from our local neighborhood bar. Tip: order the drinks at the bar yourself here. Side note: you know you aren’t getting top shelf liquor or top notch service when Ketel One is spelled Kettle on the menu.

This place is a blast! My mother was in town, and we popped in for a quick bite to eat. Every single employee, from the bouncer to the hostess to the person who removed our food from the table, provided upstanding service. Everyone was upbeat, attentive, and treated us in a way where we felt very welcome — something that I find is a hit-or-miss with many of the bars I’ve been going to lately. The owner was also present, and took care to ensure that we were satisfied with the food and the service. The Buffalo chicken fingers were great — spicy, the way I prefer. The tater tots taste as if they’re homemade, and the marinara sauce they use actually is housemade, with a bit of a kick to it, and very fresh tasting. We stayed to watch the dueling pianos, and it was a fantastic performance. This place was exceptional in their service. Their food was satisfying. The atmosphere was fun and welcoming. I will be back! I was here on 6⁄13 around 8:30PM.

Went here for the«dueling» piano experience, but was underwhelmed. The pianos just take turns playing songs, so long as you tip them generously. It was not what I expected, but not horrible. What was horrible was the service when we did the open bar. First off, the prices on the menu are not accurate since they’ve been updated online but not on the menu’s themselves. After waiting 15 – 20 minutes for a server at our table, we told her we wanted to do the open bar, and had to go through an obstacle-course-like payment method which took about another 20 minutes, at which point she disappeared for 15 minutes or so to get us bracelets, which apparently didn’t work with the bar anyway and were useless since we had to get all of our drinks from her. The manager eventually came out and told us he was extending our open bar an extra hour, which was somewhat gracious given that we’d already spent an hour trying to pay and order our first drink to no avail. The manager also told us the bracelets would work at the bar if we wanted to speed things along and order a drink ourselves — unfortunately, he apparently forgot to tell the bartenders who refused to serve us. All in all, I can’t recommend this place for either the music or the service. It is true they have skeeball though.

A few months ago, I worked with this bar to host my 30th bday party on a night they offered dueling pianos. The management was fantastic about communicating with me in advance, showing me options of various tables and party packages and really working with me to ensure everyone would have a great time. I would say my only complaint was that wait service that evening was extremely slow. I wish they had more staff on site knowing that we had a party of 25+ people coming in. I would also recommend the pianists get to play for another hour or more. it felt like they were cut off right as the night was starting.

I had a great time here last night. A bar with skeeball, pool, live music and old school pacman is hard to beat. There was a decent amount of beer on tap and bar service was quick. I believe it was $ 7 per beer which is average in this area. I also liked the lights hanging from the ceiling. The way they were strung was similar to how they would appear on a back patio, so in a way I felt like I could be outside. Next time I’m in the area and looking for drinks, I will come back.

Tell me if you’ve heard this one before: Guy walks into a bar, Black Eyed Peas is blaring so loud he can barely order a watered down drink, because the waitress isn’t too familiar with the beer list, which doesn’t offer much from a local perspective to start with. Lots of people who work at other bars are there, drinking the night away. Plenty of rum & coke. A few ladies who should have hung it up a few rounds ago. Yep, this is basically the same bar you’ll find all over Manhattan, replete with a pool table and(wait for it) Skee ball. Overall, a decent place to hang out with a big crew if you have nothing better to do. We didn’t come here for the drinks or a crew; I had a great time teaching my wife how to be a pool shark. Two dollars per game. Be prepared for some awkward angles around the table, but no worries, they have a good stubbie(half-sized) stick.

I am giving this 3 stars because me and a friend came here after a stressful day at work one night and the band that was playing was AWFUL. The live music was supposed to end at 10pm or 11pm(I can’t remember which) and they ran 30 minutes late. 30 minutes of my life that I will never get back. If you are going to have live music, please make them do an audition first. The menu seems to constantly be changing and is very limited. It’s pretty difficult to get wait service late at night. But I can’t knock it too much. I’ve only been 2 times and will probably go back since it’s usually empty and is conveniently located to where I work.

The business info says Bar 9 «brings something new to Hells Kitchen that wasn’t there before.» That’s funny, because current Bar 9 seems like an awkward throwback to the divebar mecca of the 2010 Bar 9. The sofas were mismatched, the bands were loud and the drinks were extra strong. Cue 2011, when Bar 9 closde and reopened as, for all intents and purposes, a bootleg coke den — complete with white leather sofas and giant mirrors on the walls, but with the band stage sadly missing. Clearly that didn’t pan out too well, because Bar 9 is back to shabby fun comfort mode… almost. There’s still something not quite right with the layout, the idiosyncratic food menu(gringo Mex), the drink selection, and the prices — which didn’t recede to pre-cokeden levels. I know I’m a schmuck for not being able to see the Bar 9 that is, without comparing it to the genuine local rock n roll spot that was. But if, like me, you prefer authentic friendly Hells Kitchen divebar action, look elsewhere.

Came here pretty late with some friends and had a pretty good time. Met the people that run the joint and they got us a couple of free shots. I like that they have video games, skee ball, pool tables and live music here along with nice comfy seating in certain parts of the joint. This place is great for a private party as they have little rooms where you can have a private gathering… funny enough I invaded one and wrote all over their chalk board they had… LOL! You fancy, huh? At this Hell’s Kitchen bar, check in your pretentiousness at the door. Or not, because Bar Nine is like Ellis Island: they’ll take the tired, the poor, the huddled masses yearning for affordable happy hour specials, and serve you in style. Aside from drinks, they’ve got live bands, a pool table, Skee Ball(woooooo), and arcade games. And a danger dog: it’s a hot dog wrapped in bacon and topped with pico de gallo. So damn good. Ask for their homemade spicy sauce!
