‘Disiac Lounge

The service was awful! I called for a reservation. The worker first told me he was too busy and hung up. After I called back stating that I only wanted to make a reservation, he cursed at me shouting that the owner was coming and he was too busy. The place itself was a small cozy place for drinks. We did the chocolate fondue and it didn’t come with much and they wouldn’t light the candle beneath for it to stay warm. Everything seemed and felt like the owner was trying to pinch and save pennies.

We purchased a Groupon. When we got there it was later in the afternoon. We had been informed there was a big party right before us. The cook (said he used to be a professional boxer) helped out as our server and cook and he was amazing. His spirit was good. And the female bartender went above and beyond to make us happy. The fondue was good and the wine was good as well. We listened to good music and drank on the patio. It’s sort of small there and could definitely use an upgrade to the furniture. but the people who work there is the reason this gets 5 stars!
Ps: the marshmallows and chocolate… too thick, i could not swallow it.

This place is is a very cute hideaway! They have a small patio area outside that reminded me of being in Florida. We bought the Groupon and enjoyed wonderful drinks and treats. I would recommend this place for sure!

I celebrated my birthday here the other night. I had a reservation for 5 people at 10pm. I walk in… nope, no one knew ANYTHING about a reservation so we all had to cram together in this one area since the place was pretty busy. This place is VERY small! The patio area looked really nice but was closed down at the time. Everyone seemed to enjoy their drinks. For me, I got the Chocolate Lovers drink (pretty good) and Pretty in Pink drink (horrible!!! So bitter!) No one I was with could handle that drink either. We all shared a Chocolate Fondue and Guacamole & Chips both dishes were very good and we devoured them in about 5 minutes flat. The place was nice, wouldn’t come here again though and I really wish someone actually knew about my reservation.

Honestly after reading all these bad reviews for groupon deals and seeing the food pictures, I am scared to try the place. My friend bought a groupon for 2 for fondue and we are coming next week, but expecting the worst. All patrons must be treated equally and that includes GROUPON USERS!

We purchased a groupon, and we saw that you could upgrade the deal to get an extra pot of fondue so we did it, thinking ‘what a great date night!’
My husband emailed to make a reservation and the lady let us know that the deal was meant for 3 – 4 people, so we explained that we wanted to use it for us two, and we had paid the extra $$ and asked if we could still come on this basis. She answered with a one word reply ‘Yes’
So we arrived, and again she says we cannot use this deal with less than 3 people despite the fact that we paid the same amount of $$. We also showed her the email that she wrote to us earlier that day and she denied writing it. Very strange.
So she turned us away and would not let us use the deal. She said we could pay full price if we wanted to stay. Her argument was that she loses money if only 2 people use the deal (when infact she gets the same amount of money). I suppose her only lose was the exposure to that 1 extra person.
Well now, she has lost the respect of 2 potential customers. I shall date night somewhere else.

We purchased the groupon because we wanted to try something new. I am so glad we did!
Typically we are people that go for what is familiar but I wanted to try something different. We would have never went in this place as the front is not appealing and we would have never known it was a restaurant or bar.
The cheese fondue was so good and the wine that came with the groupon was amazing too! We decided to order more. We got some cocktails and the chocolate fondue too. Everything was so amazing! I really suggest trying the Tornado drink as it was the best drink I have ever had!
As for people that said they weren’t greeted, that is very odd because we were greeted right away! Super friendly staff, fun music, great food and amazing drinks! I was so happy we did this!

Went here the night before Storm Jonas after finding it on groupon. It wasn’t very busy, great places to sit and the patio was really gorgeous (too bad the weather didn’t allow). Our groupon got us a bottle of house wine and two plates of fondue. For the cheese it was a big pot with different vegetables around it, for the chocolate it had strawberries, bananas and marshmallows. For three people it was plenty of food and drink. Had really good service, and also an amazingly clean and well designed bathroom.

I stopped by this lounge for a friend’s get together. Its a small, trendy spot great for drinks and appetizers, only thing that took a star away from my review was the super loud music. Overall, the bartenders and servers were incredibly nice and friendly. It looks likes a local favorite and even a friend of mine texted seeing my check-​in about how much he loves this place. Not drinking personally, I still admit I had a great time!!!

I didn’t get to eat/​drink there, but just wanted to post a heads up that they do NOT allow smoking outside, unlike what Unilocal lists here. Since they serve food out there, they are not allowed to have a smoking section.
Just FYI.

Worst service ever
Waited 15 minutes to be acknowledged by a waiter. No water, had to go to the bar and get it ourselves. 30 minutes since we ordered and no one has been to out table since. No communication, no food. Never coming here again.

This is a biased review as anything moroccan inspired is already up-​there in my books!
Looking forward to going back during the day time, but as I am currently a vampire my visit consisted of the dimly lit indoor area. Walking in the initial reaction can be that this place is too small however, it leads to a comfortable feeling of intimacy which is greatly appreciated in a city such as this.
The bar tender (PAUL) was so nice, the cook (JOSE) made the best guacamole and I know my guac. Beautiful lighting, eclectic art décor, good things sometimes do come in small packages! Cheers.

Anat and her crew were AWESOME! I contacted ‘Disiac to inquire about holding a semi-​private party to celebrate some upcoming nuptials. She was helpful throughout the entire process. She worked with me regarding food options as well as drink options. She extended Happy Hour prices to our group. The day of the event, she allowed me to decorate the patio and bring in an outside cake and flowers. My boss couldn’t have been happier with the setup and fell in love with the backyard. The space was quaint; exactly what our group was looking for. No one in my party had been to or heard of ‘Disiac before besides myself; so hopefully I introduced 30 new people to the place.
If you’re looking to hold a celebratory event, look no further. This place was awesome (sand crazy group fees and astounding minimums to meet).

Came here with friends and had a beautiful time! The owner was there to take care of us (which is a big plus in my book!)

One of the great night I spent here in New York with friends.
Even though this place was empty we came here since my friends hit up this place every weekend or so. The drinks are strong, not too strong but still taste good and make you buzzed. I loved the toilet especially. No joke. Super small, clean, nice blueish color, warm and smells good. I would consider spending more time on the toilet than in the actual lounge. No joke haha.

Groupon $ 28 for 2 fondues and a bottle of red wine or a jug of peach sangria. Fondues comes with a few slices of strawberries, bananas, and marshmallows. Two baskets of biscuits on the side (biscuits tasted better dipped into fondue).
Peach sangria was weak, but that was okay, no one was looking to get buzzed. They were well staffed for a tiny restaurant, however, service was still slow.
You enter through a narrow, dark bar/​lounge to get to the outdoor seating area (garden), which is the appeal of this restaurant. They have a long table for 6 – 8 ppl, but otherwise I’d recommend keeping your group to 4 ppl. Décor was gypsy feel.
Pro — The hot milk chocolate tasted fine and everything else was as expected.
Con — The pillows on the seats in the garden were very dirty — worn out, stained, dusty. They seriously need to clean them or buy new ones. Seats were tiny. Simply put, it wasn’t comfortable to sit there.

Cute little location that is in the middle of gay Hell’s kitchen. Wasn’t very busy, but the drinks were strong and cheap. The establishment plays a good mix of music, but the place is a bar not club, so no dancing space.
The location also has a great outside patio to lounge with a cocktail or chat it up with some friends. They also have free Wi-​Fi. Just ask the bartender for the password.

GROUPON HERE NEVER AGAIN. This is really some BULLSHIT. The only reason I tried this place is bc of groupon. First of all, when I came in here, there was no one to greet me. I wasn’t even sure if there was a host or something, it was so dark! I looked completely lost so I just took a seat on the side and waited for a waitress or someone.
Uhh no one! After sitting for 5 minutes, the bartender decides to pass us 2 menus from wayyyy over the bar, and over my husbands shoulder. I already started to regret the groupon. I finally went up to the bartender and showed her my groupon deal. I ordered the cheese fondue, and 2 sangrias. I wanted to order the falafel plate after I got my fondue, in case I was hungry.
2 sangrias came over in 5 minutes, my sangria had about 15 grapes… Some of which went bad! I studied my grapes and saw a few rotten ones. i only checked bc i ate a bad one!!! My husbands sangria had only one piece of strawberry. Wtf!!! Also their sangria was so tasteless. Did I order a water with grapes & food coloring ???
So I’m sitting here waiting for my fondue as I watch new customers sit by the bar. After a while I noticed that the new customers hummus plates came out, and I still hadn’t seen my cheese fondue yet. I check my foursquare to see how long ago had I checked in. Wow I’ve been there for 35 minutes and I didn’t get my fondue yet?
How busy were they that my fondue took longer than half an hour??? They weren’t busy much since I was there on a Saturday at 6pm! I was wondering if it was bc I had a groupon that I got such shit service. Anyways, the bartender happened to walk by and we had eye contact, which was probably when she realized she forgot my order bc she went over to a guy in the tiny microwave area, said something, and behold!!! 5 minutes later my freaking fondue comes out!
My cheese fondue was a hamster food bowl with a tea light underneath it, surrounded by a bowl was a few pieces of peppers, carrots, and artichoke around it.
Accompanying the hamster bowl was a bread basket of 6 toasted pieces of bread. I must admit the cheese tasted very good. I was starving by the time I got my food so the plain bread tasted like heaven. Good thing I didn’t order a falafel plate, would that have came an hr later? Or maybe that would be fast bc it wasn’t a groupon!
The boiling point is when I go up to the bartender to redeem the groupon but she said she did it already, I’m all set. So I was like ok, no check cool. I use the restroom which was in an outhouse in the outdoor area (feel so sorry for ppl who need to go #2 bc it is not very private). I go back inside, leave a tip on the table, and proceed to leave when ms bartender tells me I need to pay the check. Ok cool, so IM NOT ALL SET! She hands me over a bill where tax and tip is included. Other than my groupon cost, i have to pay $ 8 of bullshit? Tax I understand, I’m not a newb to groupon, but not $ 1 was deserved that day. Just because tip was included doesn’t mean they can be whatever way they wanted.
My husband was so pissed that i took him here. Never coming back again! Thanks guys, my husband never wants me to buy any more groupons bc of this! There should be an option for 0 stars!

Gay friendly, straight friendly. Weird friendly… d’siak kind of houses it all. I had two or three of the house cocktails. You also get a free sangria if you sign in here on Unilocal!So I tried that too. Red better than white…
I can’t really help but get attracted to the bar … As it has all the colors from Saturday night fever… And I was born in the 80’s… So maybe it’s just me. But considering how dark it’s in there and how colorful the bar is. I think maybe I just get too dragged into looking at it more than enjoying my time here… It is a small establishment. And I like looking into the kitchen but I felt sorry for the chef that had to cook everything in his closet sized kitchen with a microwave and a small panini grill… I mean. Everytime someone asked for quesadillas the man had to crawl out of his «kitchen» and walk down some stairs behind the bar to get some stuff from the fridge… I seriously felt it was uncomfortable for him… And with the red light. It just looked like a tour here’s chef in Hell’s Kitchen (haha, no pun intended considering the location… Ok maybe a little pun intended)
Again, we were referred here by a manager while we were at another bar… And we were told it was worth it with very unique drinks… Well yes I say… It was worth the visit… But sadly… It’s just not my most favorite place to go for a drink to hang out… The ambiance sets the mood… One thing I will say is that after the visit there, I now know of Songza because the bartender put a 90’s hit station and I seriously did not want to leave because she was very awesome and the music well. I grew up with it… But the place itself kind of left me desiring for more!
I still would go if someone invited me. But I would probably not invite anyone there as my first choice… Wish them the best though… If you do decide to go, order the quesadilla… Freakin’ delicious!

Miss Sarit and I came here for a fondue and drink Groupon we had purchased a while back. The place is small, very dimly lit and reasonably priced (I had fun with the idea that the money they saved on electricity went towards lowering their menu items — haha)
The bartender /​server was sharp as a tack and quick, prompt to offer service or advice. He even gave us a birthday drink special — instead turning into two shots, one for each of us! Very nice guy, great service.
The fondue was delicious and it was by no small amount of willpower by me that I was able to resist licking the pot once all the dippers had disappeared (and maybe a little bit of fear of pain stopped me too!)
Like I said, small place, I believe there’s large seating area downstairs though but don’t quote me on that. I would definitely return!
