Nice little restaurant near Washington Square Park. I got the Bhartha and my friend got the Lamb Curry. Both were great, not too spicy. They come in cute little pots, and you can order rice or naan(at extra charge). They do a 40% off lunch special, so our bill came out to be around $ 25.

While visiting a friend downtown I stumbled upon this nice little Indian restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by its simplicity yet I was pleasantly surprised by the staff courteous manners. The food was good aromatic and spicy. the kind of food I like. Recommended.

My friend and I went in for 40% off everything for lunch dine-in, and we concluded that this was a marketing scam. The prices are already over-priced to accommodate this deal, and the curry tasted watered-down. We ordered one curry, one naan, and one rice each and paid total of $ 16 including tax and tips, which is not necessarily cheap as «40% off everything» makes it sounds.

Nice little Indian spot near NYU! Great for lunch, when they offer 40% off the entire menu. Of course, rice is not included with your curries, so your bill might not be as cheap as you expect. The chicken tikka was VERY tomato-y, and not in a good way. The chicken korma, however, was great. Naan was also very good. Service was prompt, which was definitely appreciated on a short lunch break.

I wasn’t super crazy about the lunch deal to be honest. I would consider coming back and ordering a regular entrée but there are only four options for the lunch special($ 8.95 for entrée, veggie, naan, rice, and chutney). The vegetarian one was very bland, you get two veggies of the day and they were pretty mediocre. I’m always a little frustrated when you can’t just sub in paneer or a veggie masala or makhani when there are meat versions of those dishes offered for a special. I can’t imagine it’s much more money than chicken, and I don’t like spending the same amount of money for a veggie option that’s not as good. If you’re going to order the chicken or lamb dishes, you’ll probably like the special and it is a pretty good deal. I’ll stick to ordering the canteen-style lunch boxes from The Masalawala instead, their food is higher quality and more flavorful in my opinion.

I just ordered catering from Barburchi’s for my birthday lunch at my office. It was a total grand slam hit! I’ve been here before with my BF and I had spoke to the manager, Saheed, about possibly providing catering for company parties. Saheed is extremely accommodating and very reasonable with prices. Barburchi is also no where close to my office and he was more than happy to special deliver it to my location at Union Square. We ordered 4 entrees — Fish Vindaloo, Saag Paneer, Chicken, Korma, and Malai Kofta. We also got two trays of rice and a tray of Naan and free dessert!!! This was more than enough for the 35 employees in the office. The entrees were very flavorful and not greasy at all. Some places overdo it with the ghee, but I think Barbuchi’s got it right. I absolutely love this place and the manager/owner is just a superb guy. The restaurant itself is small and cozy, but because it’s on a side street, it can easily be missed. This is a total gem in the wall kinda place. I really hope this place thrives for a very long time. Good food, good, people, good place. What else can you ask for? If you need catering and it’s off the delivery zone, you can just call and talk to Saheed about accommodating for your party and setting up delivery.

I really enjoy going here for lunch and ordering the Chicken Makhani. Service is always super fast and very friendly. One of the things I really enjoy doing is ordering a chai tea after the meal. As a student, I love how they let me enjoy my tea in peace and a read a book! Great lunch prices for students too.

Good service, okay food. My friend ordered saag paneer and I got navrattan curry… she ordered hers very spicy and said it was bland and had no spice at all. My korma was good but tasted like it was missing something. Their naan was really delicious and so were the appetizers we both ordered. It was a chilly Sunday evening and this place was completely empty… not sure if it was the day/time, weather or reputation.

This is the first time I’ve tried Indian food in Greenwich Village. This was the only place in my immediate area that was not super casual and an actual sit down joint. The interior is cozy and I found the wait staff very accommodating and efficient. We sampled samosas which I had never heard of, but tasted really good. For my entrée I tried the Chicken Tikka Saag(Grilled Chicken pieces with fresh spinach and mild spices). It was decent but I may go back to my Indian staple of Chicken Tikka Masala the next time I visit. The garlic naan was very tasty and quite filling. I would return only because it’s near by. It was by no means the best Indian food i’ve ever tried but serviceable if someone was visiting me and had a craving for it.

Embarrassingly enough, this was my first ever trip to an Indian restaurant. I always just thought the food would be super spicey, but I finally took the plunge this past friday and was more than satisfied with my decision. In fact the waiter after asking said in what sounded like something he has repeated at least once an hour“Indian food is not spicy unless you get vindalu”. Onto the food, I started with some samosa which was pretty tasty with peas inside a potatoe shell. I also ordered a garlic nan roll which I read on Unilocal was good, and I was not disappointing. It was well seasoned and just the right crispyness too it. For my main entrée I got the Chicken Tika Marsla which I was told is one of the staple indian foods, similar to pad thai for thai food. It came with a side of white rice and mixing it together with the tomatoe and cream sauce with chicken was quite good. The servers offered good advice on what to order and were quick in bringing out the entrees. The price wasnt bad either. Overall, this place gives me hope for trying Indian food out in the future, there are a lot of new spots in the village I now need to explore :).

I was new to this city when I went there for the first time. The fact that between 12−3pm, they have 40% off on their menu, enticed me to pay a visit. The food was served on time and the ppl taking orders were nice. I ordered Malai Kofta and Pulao. Simply loved the food. Reminded me of the authentic Indian taste that I used to have back home. Moreover, the insides have such an Indian feel to it, the decoration n all stuff. I will definitely recommend this to you ror a good Indian restaurant experience. Go between 12 – 3 in daytime preferable to avail the 40% discount. The prices are not that high though. But who doesnt like discounts!!! :D One thing I did not like was the poor lighting. The place was poorly lit.

I ordered take out from here. No complaints about the speed or service. A little bit pricey compared to similar places but not terrible. We came in to pick the food up at about 6:30 pm on a Friday, and the restaurant was weirdly empty. I don’t think they had a single customer. It was probably dead because the food is only medium quality. Not bad but definitely not as good as many other places around. Good naan though!

Baburchi is a little Indian Restaurant just past Washington Square Park(going Downtown). I have been there several times with friends and I find it hard to believe that the establishment is empty. All the food we had today was simply delicious. We had the Chicken Vindaloo, Chicken Kebab, Lamb Curry with Cheese Nan and Rice. We also had Honey Balls and Rice Pudding for dessert. Service was very good and attentive; always filled our cups with water. Also they had a lunch deal of 40% off your check. I hope many see this post, as Babuchi is authentic and tasty. Try it! You will love it!!!

Very delicious! This place is especially great because I have never had trouble getting a table. I’m not sure why its not more popular! I’ve been here twice and really enjoy their food as well as the atmosphere.

Really good food. BUT Super overpriced. I mean… Cmone. Your portions are not that big to be so expensive. For 13.95 I can have a great chicken tikka at a restaurant in Murray hill. We’ll… That means I’m not coming back. Guys you are on campus. Set your prices lower. Recommended if you can afford to spend 20+ on lunch of 1 dish and nan to it :/

The worst place. So here it is. I wrote a bad review regarding their service. In my review I had mentioned they have very tasty food but terrible rude and arrogant service. Today my friend wanted to have samosas that I suggested are tasty. After taking our order that guy started blaming me for the bad review. And u won’t believe it he says that I got the guy who served me fired. The funny thing is that guy was standing besides the manager. When I pointed this out he says about them being identical twins. You get it? And then I tell him that instead of blaming customers about bad service you guys should work on your service. He didn’t have an answer to that. First of all rude service, then blaming customers for that service and baseless accusation. Well am never going there again and suggest you Guys don’t either in case you like getting serves by rude arrogant servers.

I don’t know what happened to this place, because 6 months ago it was one of the best Indian restaurants in the city. It seems like management has changed since then as their 50% off lunch offer had dropped to 30%, and their offer had gained«criteria». We ordered the chicken tikka masala and the chicken vindaloo, which we’ve had before, and they were obviously undercooked, in smaller quantities, and just tasted horrible. I think this is the first 1-star I’ve given to a restaurant, but I was just so underwhelmed and disappointed, not to mention potentially food poisoned, with my experience. The prices have increased too, and not for better quality. If you’re looking for a GOOD Indian(halal) food experience, try Chote Nawab on 28th and Lex. Not recommended.

What I liked most about Baburchi? I asked for it spicy and this ‘isht was SPICY. Like eyes watering spicy. Like I don’t know if I can eat it spicy. I ordered up a chicken curry dish and a veggie dish for my mom and we got Baburchied. What I didn’t like about Baburchi was that my chicken dish had maybe 4 pieces of chicken. The veggie dish and the chicken dish both came in a medium sized deli container which is fine, but really at the end of the day just wasn’t a lot of food. For the price, it just wasn’t a great value. The naan was pretty expensive to boot. It was good, but nothing so good that I felt good spending $ 40 on 2 dishes and naan. I did take out, but looks like lunch is a good deal and maybe eating in is a better idea.

Definitely one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been in so far and yes I love Indian food. Starting with the décor of the place — it simply takes you to a different world and makes you forget that you are in the middle of NYC. Moving on to the service — definitely 5 stars here too — they were always paying attention to refill your glass and made sure you’re not missing anything. Finally the food was just amazing — high quality ingredients, just the right amount of spiciness and the perfect blend of flavors. And to add to this, their prices(not referring here to the lunch menu) are far below a full service restaurant.
