I think every indian, and every New Yorker has heard and tried this place! It’s a cute, hall in the wall kinda spot. Customers service isn’t anything extravagant, but you kinda just go in order your Kati rolls and go. Their menu is pretty small, but it’s just Kati rolls and they have all kinds of ones. I personally enjoy the aloo(potato) ones, occasionally I’ll get the paneer. This spot is open till pretty late, so after a night of closing out its perfect spot to stop.

Best Kathi roll in New York. Trust me because I’m from India and I know that this is the best. Try their Tikka roll and never forget the chatni

Kati Roll is great late night option after a night out on MacDougal. My go to is the Chicken Tikka Roll which has chunks of chicken breast, onions, some type of sauce/chutney, all wrapped in a thin paratha. I’ve also had the shrimp and potato rolls, both of which are also good. Two rolls with set you back about $ 11 but depending on how hungry you are, it might not be quite enough food.

This is our«go to» spot after a late night in the city. All the kati rolls are so delicious, it’s hard to have a favorite. I usually visit this place at least two to three times a month. I just wish they had a location closer to home in Connecticut.

So, I’ve had the chicken tikka on a previous occasion. It was OK. Nice spice profile but the chicken was a bit dry. Decided to give this place another go tonight and try something else before attending an event in the area. There was only one other party in this teeny tiny establishment when I went but the service left a lot to be desired — it was as dry as the chicken! Anyway, I’m a pescatarian now(attempting, anyway) and decided on the shrimp masala roll($ 7+ after tax). It was brought out quickly and… lukewarm! Eh?! This was one really sad looking, greasy roll. Thinner than I remember. Overwhelmingly salty and the few shrimps in it had this unacceptable mushy texture. Ack. I couldn’t bring myself to order a different one to try. I was so unsatisfied that I just went to Mamoun’s down the block right after. Disappointing! There will be no 3rd visit from me.

Kati Roll Company is a MacDougal staple, and it honestly deserves that. Delicious Indian cuisine for a reasonable price. While there are many options here, I always get the Chicken Tikka roll, which includes huge chunks of their chicken inside. They definitely do not skimp out on the meat. Its priced well at $ 5.50 per roll.(NYU Student discount applies here, which is a great bonus). Another great element about this place is that it is open quite late, so if you’re craving something at midnight, you can always pop in for some nice exotic rolls. Surprised I hadn’t tried it earlier during my time in New York, but definitely am glad that I can now rely on it for solid Indian food.

Whenever I go get some kati rolls, I know it’s going to be one of those indulgence days. The rolls are not cheap and probably won’t fill you up but they’re packed with flavor and also quite delicious. The wait after placing your order might take a while since they make the rolls fresh upon order. All the rolls are good, but if you can, do order a roll with the beaten eggs. Also keep in mind, they use a good amount of onions so you’d might want to have some mint or gum handy.

This place is another example of the many little Manhattan gold mines you run into, or only know if if you’re from the area. The place is big enough to, maybe, fit 10 people; anything more makes it crammed… But that’s not even an issue once you bite into one of their rolls. The food is out in no time, fairly simple, and great value. Fresh, perfectly spiced, and great quality. I got one lamb, and one beef. Both were great! Naan(bread) was fresh made and borderline crispy, easy to bite into, not flaky. Bread to meat ratio was good and it’s surprisingly filling. Easy to eat as it comes rolled and wrapped so great for a bite on the run. Quick and great representation of Indian on the run. Will be back…

Indian ‘fast food’ at its best! Pick from a variety of kati rolls with meat, veggies and/or cheese fillings + add a fried egg for additional $. The flat bread is soft, chewy and a perfect wrapper for the flavorful, somewhat spicy fillings. The tandoori chicken was moist, and I liked that the filling was fairly dry, not a saucy mess. There’s a bit of a price break if you order 2 rolls for any given menu offering, so I suggest springing for 2 because 1 really just leaves you wanting more. I’d say the kati roll was about 6 – 8 in. in length, so just big enough to be satisfying relative to the price.

Walking around clueless as to what I would fill my angry belly with growing with more and more«hanger» I peeked in here and was greeted by Scott, if not for this eager and super friendly fellow I may have left without trying the place, Scott swiftly came in to educate me on just what exactly a Kati Roll is; It’s calcuttan That didn’t explain it? It’s roti wrapped around your meat and/or cheese and loaded with spices, lots and lots of delicious spices. This ain’t your typical halal, it’s halal on antibiotic free«steroids!» I say steroids figuratively of course — it’s just super awesome food anyway you cut it… Uhhh, roll it. It’s like a little wholewheat savory pancake thing only better stuffed with hot n fresh filling and you just need to roll through and try it! Please trust me, I actually don’t care about their«signature cilantro whatever sauce» the rolls themselves are the things dreams are made of. I’d give 5 stars but the price sort of offends me… Then again, I’m in love with these flavors! GET the Achari Paneer! GET the minced lamb And GET the chicken tikka!!! Ahhhh mind blown. Pffffff I want to open one! But add a few to a specials menu!

We came here after a night of bar hopping. Last time I was in NY I went to Masala Times, and oooh em gee that place was just TOO spicy for my liking. Kati Roll had a thin wheat paronta(?) wrap that was both filling without being guilt inducing. I opted for the tandoori chicken and so did most of my friends. One of my friends had the chicken and egg wrap. For me that’s a bit much, but she really seemed to enjoy it. I’ll definitely come back here when I’m not in the mood for late night grub(other than Artichoke’s).

This was a great fast and simply filling Indian meal. enjoyed my selections. One was a meat Tandori chicken and the other was a chick pea(veggie based) roll. Fresh and filling.

Kati Roll is good! It’s cheap, quick, and portable, but it’s more like a large snack rather than a meal. My chana masala roll was quite tasty, although it did feel a little like Indian food for white people. My friend got the chicken tikka and it really could have used some more sauce. It wasn’t bad, but a bit lacking. It’s nice that this is around, but I can’t foresee myself choosing this out of all of the other great spots on MacDougal.

I am definitely a fan! I always get the paneer tikka roll, and it will always be my fave. I used to go here all the time while I was in college, but ever since those days ended, my trips to Kati Roll have decreased. . The location is super tiny and can probably only fit like 10 people but it’s more of a grab and go type of place anyways. ALWAYS delicious, definitely a go to spot. I recommend 100%!

I challenge you, if you so choose to accept, to only order 1 roll! I’m blessed enough to come here with several people at a time, and we usually get a few rolls and split them up, and each bite into those little oil sticks comes with«a whole new world» soundtrack. Cultural reference inappropriate but it’s the perfect song. The only drawback is the the greasiness of the rolls. It works if you’re in the mood, but if not, steer clear. Given its nature, the food doesn’t cater to an all day appetite. It can easily get pegged to a late night 4th meal affair. It helps to drink a sparkling citrus beverage to cut through the grease, or bring your own fresh cut onions, which go great with the rolls. True story.

As much as I would like to divert from my usual chicken and occasional paneer roll, that is what I keep coming back too everytime I visit Greenwich Village and make that obligatory stop at Macdougal St(also my fave street in NYC lol) This place is tiny but its not meant to seat people also. They are offering desi street fare which is meant to eat while walking, talking, sitting, standing so yeah… also its easy on your wallet which is always great! I would suggest more chutney in the paratha because sometimes its just too dry. Also, love that they offer a variety of drinks from indian beers to mango and berry lassi lookin all cute in small bottles. They also have a chai dispenser if you are a chaiholic like me. Grab a roll paratha(actually one is not enough) and your choice of drink and go on your merry way!

Visiting a friend in New York, I was told that I HAVE to try this place if I’ve never had a kati roll before. The rolls themselves were agreeably tasty, yet quite expensive for the price I paid(over $ 10 for two rolls!). The eating environment was small and homey, but quite hot — likely due to the seating area’s proximity to the cooking area. The staff seemed alternatively rushed, annoyed, and kind. It was kind of odd, but it didn’t make or break my experience. Overall, not a bad place to go if you’re craving a kati roll, but you can probably get a better bank for your buck elsewhere.

This place came highly recommended. We went looking for it about one hour before we left NY. It is located in Soho very close to many delicious other restaurants. The flag with its logo is the only obvious indication that it is there. You immediately see its B grading from outside from the department of health. Not sure how you feel about that. It shook me a little. You walk in and realize that somehow they fit four tables or more into this tiny space. Their drink selection does not include regular water, just sparkling water. The menu has vegetarian options as well as most meat options. We tried the shrimp masala roll and the chicken tikka roll(the chicken was recommended). The shrimp masala roll has a very strong cardamom flavor. I definitely liked the chicken tikka roll much more than the shrimp. My husband loved both(we shared both rolls). The mango lassi has a very strong yogurt taste. I tried putting it on ice but didn’t do much(their drinks are not that cold). The restaurant looks clean. The staff don’t smile and it’s actually a bit intimidating when you walk in and they are just glaring. Overall, I liked it but I hope I can come back to NY to try this place again. For now they are worthy of 3 stars. They have stairs outside in case you need to know…

The Quick: Hello new drunk food! Quick, easy, and greasy, this ethnic spot might be my new go to. Simple no fuss wraps with few ingredients yet ton of flavor. The Details: I like everything covered in a sauce or dressing. When I asked the cashier for extra sauce he refused until I tasted the wrap as is… Needless to say it really was bursting with flavor. I will absolutely return to try something new. Plus the late night hours are too convenient for drunk Alex. The Damage: $ 6 wraps, worth a try.

This was my 2nd attempt for coming here after the 1st time where their internet was down so i couldnt pay(minus 1 star). However, during my 2nd attempt a nice employee greeted me and gave me a nice introduction to the place. I ordered 2 Chicken Tikka rolls and I really enjoyed the flavor of the 2 rolls but its not what I would call overwhelmingly India, it is definitely a bit Westernized. But despite that, I really enjoyed both rolls. The chicken was just perfect with some onions, it was grilled perfectly and the spices were nice. They def did not skimp on the protein in my 2 rolls. 2 rolls filled me up for hours. Also gave me a 10% student discount. I will be returning :)
