Disappointing Brunch. got off to a nice start with the bread basket and«schmears». but then went downhill quickly… all eggs of all styles were weak. scrambled, poached and omelet… expected more for a brunch… they’ll need to pick up their game… maybe brunch isn’t their«thing». but if thats the case, don’t serve eggs… cooking eggs takes skill… a poached egg on a salmon cake should ooze some yolk… this thing was so dry it flaked… i’ve had egg mcmuffins that offered more taste… and egg mcmuffins only cost $ 1. not $ 16…the Omelet and scrambled eggs were equally as weak. if you want a decently cooked egg. avoid this place… if you want a nice basket of scones(for $ 14) then you’ll be satisfied…

i’ve only been here for dinner but damn this place was BORING! I felt so deceived by all the high reviews and the pictures of happy people. The space is massive and they filled up about ¼ of it… this was on a friday night at 8pm. I was way over priced for the uninspiring evrything abot this place. We were pretty disappointed honestly. Food was meh, drinks were meh. ambiance was very very meh. The place was all but empty when i got there at 8:00pm bad sign… a family came in after and they sat down. The dad saying to his parents that he picked this place because it was the quietest spot in the neighborhood.

This place wasn’t bad, came here after a bad reservation experience at Café Cortadito meaning it was short notice. We were seated immediately at 7:50 on a Saturday night. Our waiter was very attentive and had a great attitude. The only reason I had to take away a star is that the serving sizes were way too small for us. We are writing this review from a restaurant/bar we came to snack at after. We didn’t order more because it wasn’t cheap! That aside the food was very tasty. Just wish I had a bit more! If we hadn’t ordered the appetizer I’m sure we would have still been hungry enough to have another meal. But the quality of the food was good, I enjoyed my meal. Would come back here for a light lunch.

I love this place! Adorable little spot in the East Village. I usually don’t like places with small menus, but with every option being a good one, I loved the B4 menu. I went with the sweet potato waffles with fried chicken and gravy and could not have been more satisfied. It was amazing!

I’m usually not surprised the food is good when there’s good Unilocal reviews and this is no exception. I didn’t want the omelet to end! My friend and I got there and were a little flustered by the wait, but they were fairly busy. When we did get served, they brought us donut holes to make up for it, which were super yum. My only deal was that they didn’t have my first two choices on the menu, but the third was so good, I didn’t care. The staff were all very nice and friendly, the décor’s pretty cute and the food is excellent!

This is my first time in NY stopped in for a glass of wine after the theatre. Upon entrance had a warm welcoming from a cute bartender named Colleen. I asked for a recommendation on(my favorite) Pinot Grigio. Not only was her recommendation(Borgo) great but her customer service was over the top.

3.5 stars for excellent food and good ambiance. However this fell short on the service. The waitress seemed inexperienced and awkward. Our appetizers hit before the groups drinks came out and she didn’t even apologize for the mishap. That being said the spicy margarita was tasty and definitely order the Dr Pepper sliders! Tuna tacos tasted good but note you only get 6 of them. I was under the impression the serving was much bigger. My fiancé and I shared the salmon and butternut squash ravioli. Delicious! The salmon was perfect and they give you a very generous portion. I would go back but will definitely avoid the curly haired server.

Nice random find in the East Village, right across from the Connelly Theater. Cozy atmosphere, good service(and our waiters were spontaneously dancing to the background music, apparently it’s a happy place where to work!). Their soups are spectacular, especially the chestnut one. And they bake their own bread. The pizza could be improved, though: the one with truffle oil had a bit too much of it(it’s a very strong flavor, you only need a drop), and it was too thick for this Roman-raised fellow.

Good service, cheap brunch drinks, ok food. The stuffed toast was amazing. I had high expectations for the ricotta pancakes and they were underwhelming. Luckily, our waiter was cool and kept filling up my mimosa glass.

Yum Get the Mac and cheese and the tuna apps they were delicious. Nice atmosphere… the noise level wasn’t loud-you don’t have to scream in order to talk or be heard. The service is excellent our waiter was attentive but not overbearing… he just came over enough without being intrusive. We were a hair late and they were happy to seat is without telling us we were late… like other places in NYC have. My group had everything from pizza, pork, chicken and duck… All good except the park was overcooked but the flavour profile was excellent. Nutella cheesecake was on point(without just tasting like Nutella). I loved this place from start to end… I’ll be back!

Food not worth the experience. Experience: long wait to be seated, middle aged hostess with a cranky mom type attitude, not accommodating to requests like no pork(for religious reasons) Mostly pork options so let your kosher and vegetarian friends know they can’t eat here really.

Walked all the way over here for brunch because you can reliably get a reservation on open table if you’ve waited WAY too long to make brunch plans. Although the menu is pretty standard and everyone will be generally pleased with their order, there’s really only one thing you should absolute order here. Sweet potato waffles with fried chicken. Yes, New York, chicken and waffles. Do it. If you don’t, believe me, you’ll seriously regret it.

Had amazing service & delicious food at B4! We were a group of 12 dining in for brunch on a super sunny September Sunday! A bunch of us ordered the fried chicken & waffles and I attempted to be healthy by ordering the quiche w. baby greens and then utterly & completely offsetting that by ordering a side of tater tots. How could I not when they have multiple exclamation points next to it on the menu?! We also ordered several rounds of their $ 4 mimosas & bellinis/$ 5 bloody marys, which were great but served in a TINYYYY glass. Just so you are aware :) The food came out pretty quickly and the winner of the day was def the chicken & waffles. My quiche was actually quite lackluster and kinda congealing at the top, which was not very pleasant to say the least. The tots tho — BOMBBBB. Huge portion, so def sharable between two, maybe three people! The 5 star for B4 comes in because one of our dishes came out considerably later than everyone else’s. And to make up for it, B4 comped a huge donut dessert platter AND another side of those BOMBBBBB tots! I was also celebrating a belated birthday and they sent out an additional platter of the donuts as well! Our waiter was super patient with all our orders and pricewise was fair for brunch with drinks! Happy fan of B4!

Easily the happiest experience that has happened to me all week. Did a late brunch, ordered a couple bloody marys and the chicken and waffles. I was originally going to order the biscuits and gravy but I was told by the very friendly and helpful bartender Joe that it would’ve been a little too much. I still think I could’ve defeated both the biscuits and chicken and waffles though. Place was clean, high ceilings, AC wasn’t pumped too high, décor was really hip and cool and easily a place I could come back 2 – 3 times a months for a brunch, lunch or dinner. There was just nothing wrong with this experience and all it did was completely turn my mood around b/c I had some pretty shitty chicken last night. BTW, minus 1 internet point b/c they didn’t push the bacon donuts on me. WHAT’S UPB4?!! YOUDON’T THINK I LIKEBACONORDONUTSORBACONANDDONUTSORANYTHINGTHATINVOLVESBACONAND/OR DONUTS?! PLEASETAKEMYMONEYANDFEEDMEBACONDONUTS!!! Geez! Why and how was this something I missed?!!

This is a quintessential alphabet city brunch spot. I can’t lie, I initially headed down towards 4th and B(now the name makes sense, eh?) for a southern style brunch at The Cardinal. Sometimes you just crave fried chicken, it happens. Upon discovering that Cardinal was closed down I needed to make a move fast, hunger was in full force. The second I walked into B4, my fate was sealed. There was a fresh baked goods counter and the aromatic scent of bacon donuts and cinnamon rolls filled the room. The menu had fried chicken and waffles. There was a blackberry mojito there too. Done and DONE. We went halfsies on the chix n’ waffles and the classic B4 burger. No boring omelets for this brunch table! The fried chicken was crispy and tender and perfectly complimented the sweet potato waffle. I normally like a sweet maple syrup on this but the gravy added a nice savory touch. I’m still dreaming about the burger. It was one of the juiciest burgers I’ve ever had. I’m talking juice dripping down my hands but I don’t care because it’s so good kind of burger. Cheddar, a thick slice of bacon and an aioli of sorts were the perfect additions. As if our meal had not been gluttonous enough, we ended things with a small bacon donut to share(just a taste). A doughy and glazed masterpiece with chunks of bacon on top. Don’t miss out on that if you come. Even if it’s just a taste, your tastebuds will thank you later. I’ll also mention that the service was top notch. We ended up having to wait a bit longer then expected to be seated, and the waitstaff was extremely apologetic about it. I guess a wait is to be expected though, as B4 is an obvious choice for a lazy Sunday brunch in the East Village.

I cant resist the pun but I have to ask myself«why haven’t I been here B4 ?» So 3 of us sat and looked at the brunch menu and after a great debate of to and throwing with the lemon ricotta pancakes we all opted for the Sweet Potato Waffle & Fried Chicken w. Red Eye Gravy. The is some brunch for your buck. seriously DELICIOUS chicken with plenty of gravy . My only suggestion might be to get the gravy on the side but other than that this is proper good value for money and tasty as hell . Love the place and ambience is great. Cant wait to come back Oops nearly forgot make sure you get an order of the bacon doughnut holes… yum! Great food, great price, great place !

I dream about the brunch Sweet Potato Waffle & Fried Chicken w. Red Eye Gravy. Do NOT bother ordering anything else off the menu. You’ll have food envy if anyone else at your table orders it and you didn’t. My first time there, I ate my omelet AND half of my friend’s uneaten waffle + chicken because he was«full.» Weakling. It was to my benefit, though. The moist, richness of the sweet potato adds a phenomenal depth of flavor a regular waffle batter just doesn’t have to offer. It accompanies a perfectly fried chicken– crisp exterior housing a juicy interior. The red eye gravy on top melds the flavors together, making the whole meal melt in your mouth in such a satisfying way, you’ll start dreaming about this dish too. I lied about the don’t order anything else part. The B4 Brunch basket with Schmears was damn good. Definitely share it with the table to begin your delicious meal. Make a reservation for brunch to avoid any unhappiness.

Another random Tuesday night outing gone amazingly well. My wife was poking around for«new american» restaurants and came across this gem. We were running terribly late, but the restaurant was very friendly about it. It was insanely cold/wildy and the snow plows essentially left all the«available» parking spaces useless. With that said, there were still people coming in to the restaurant. We started off with a goldrush and a basil lemonade margarita. We love the way they present them and they tasted as good as they looked. This place has a full bar, but I ordered off their cocktail menu because I wanted to try their concoctions. The bread/salt/rosemary infused olive oil that they started us off with was excellent. We skipped the appetizer and went with the Pork Chop(their signature dish) and the general tso’s duck breast. While we were waiting for our food, the chef sent us a complimentary brick oven pizza topped with mushrooms and Taleggio cheese. WHOA! One of the best«non traditional» pizza’s I’ve had in a long time. Taleggio cheese is usually pretty strong, but they balance it so well. The general tso’s duck breast was the most amazing duck breast that I’ve ever had. Cooked beautifully, the haricot verts were crisp, and the purée it’s served on top of added just the right bit of contrast. The pork chop is a very thick cut and looks very pretty. I personally prefer two thinner pork chops rather than one thick one, but that is a personal opinion. Despite the pork chop being the signature entrée, I would strongly urge newcomers to try the duck breast instead. We were going to skip dessert, but they had a cracked black pepper cheesecake. how could I resist? The portion was HUGE and it tasted amazing.

The Good. –The menu. Everything sounds delicious. –The tuna tartare nachos. They are gorgeously presented, and quite tasty. –The Dr. Pepper pulled pork sliders. Too small, but great flavor. –If you order a cocktail and specify the liquor, it will show up on your check with the suffix, ‘Cock.’ For instance, I ordered a BulleitCock, and my wife got a KetelCock. The Bad. –The menu sounds much more delicious than the dishes actually taste. –The ravioli. I must have ordered poorly, because everyone else appeared to have enjoyed their mains more than I did, but the ravioli were dry, thin, and under-sauced. Strike that, they were unsauced. I very rarely order a vegetarian meal, and you’re damn right it’ll never happen again. The Ugly. –A BulleitCock is $ 14. –The brussels sprouts were limp, pale, and bland. Especially disappointing in a restaurant that offers Brussels Sprouts of the Day.
