The Ventura staff and Captain Pat made our team event so enjoyable! We were a group of 14 and had more than enough space. We did the afternoon picnic lunch and the food and beverages were great! Highly recommend for a group outing!

I have been hosting private corporate events on the Ventura for the last nine years and have only wonderful things to say about our experience! Captain Pat and the crew are wonderful to work with and great fun on board, and the boat is absolutely gorgeous! I have also been on many of the Friday night public sunset sails over the years and they are always amazing.

I had my going away party(I love and miss you NYC) aboard The Ventura. I heard about it from a friend who joined them for a sunset sail and thought it would be an awesome way to get my pals together for a unique NYC experience and fun way to chug a few beers and soak in the city. I was BLOWN away. The crew, especially first mate Jimmy, all the deck hands and captain were awesome. They had a NYC soundtrack ready to go, and since I reserved the whole space for buddies I was allowed to play my own music. They even kept my beers on ice on their cooler(but they had affordable beers /wine for purchase too) and were exceptionally friendly to all the guests. The boat holds about 30 people plus crew and for $ 60⁄70 pp it’s a barging at twice the price. Highlights include: –educated exceptionally friendly crew that knows about boating and sailing around the world + history about NYC and the harbor –unreal views of the Statue of Liberty and coast –unique NYC activity for friends, great thing to take out of towners and way to show off the city –fun way to get liquored up. Or enjoy 1 glass of wine like a «responsible» adult before going out for the evening –any and everything else You will not regret a trip on the Ventura and tell captain Pat Mitch sent you. Have fun!!! –Mitch L

We held a graduation party here Memorial Day Weekend 2014! Capt Pat and his crew were nothing short of accommodating, considerate, fun and entertaining during the entire planning of the event and especially during the actual event! It was wonderful being able to be aboard such a beautiful wooden, well maintained and historic boat(Capt Pat has some incredible tales to tell) and equally awesome that you have the option of being able to bring your own food and drink! Though we hit some rain in the early part of the sail(where ponchos were provided for us!), the sky cleared up almost immediately when we left the dock and were able to enjoy a beautiful, memorable sail in the NY Harbor! The sights and sounds were incredible and we will all remember this event for the rest of our lives! Thank you Capt Pat and the crew for a fantastic and memorable graduation party! I recommend the Ventura without any reservations! And we are looking forward to having another event as an excuse to be aboard once again!

This review is way overdue as we first sailed the Ventura back in 2006 and have been on 2 subsequent sailings during visits to the city. Here’s the write-up about this beautiful yacht from the Atlantic Sail website«United States Coast Guard certified for up to 25 passengers(on specific occasions, up to 35) 62.5′ length; 28 tons; teak, oak, mahogany for hull construction: a true wooden ship» and at nearly 100 years old. I know, not a very sexy description of a such a fine wooden ship. Our first cruise was in mid-September and was their«Friday Sunset Sail» and under a near cloudless sky and watched over by a full moon. Locating and boarding the Ventura was a breeze as the North Cove Marina in lower Manhattan is easy to locate. With a hearty«Ahoy» Captain Pat and his crew greeted the guests and got everyone onboard and ready to sail quickly. Pat and his crew are the consummate professionals and ensure that their guests have a memorable time. An honor bar with a selection of brews and wine help to set the mood and you are welcome to bring aboard your own munchies. Motoring out of the marina and into the Hudson down river cruising by the Statue of Libery and around Ellis Island and back up the Hudson with killer view of the Manhattan skyline. Captain Pat always has some great tunes playing and on that first cruise Dark Side of the Moon was a perfect choice. If I was a local this would likely be on my weekly Friday summer nights schedule and just to decompress from the stress of work and everyday life. In addition to the Friday Sunset Sail there is also a regular Sunday afternoon brunch sail and charters are available as well. If you’re looking for a great way to chill at the end of your work week or are looking for a romantic date night or just a good time on the Hudson this is your best choice!
