Bought the Groupon deal for this for 1 person. The instructor was very nice and even offered for my wife to come along for free due to a cancellation. Starting with that, it clearly came across that our instructor loved teaching people to sail and had a passion for it. Would never have expected to get a free lesson.
Learned all the basic jargon and every student had a chance to steer and handle the sails. A fantastic way to spend an afternoon, highly recommend.

I bought a living social deal for 2. It was for a 3 hour sailing class. There was a total of 4 people and the captain. The captain explained all the major terms and the basics about steering. We were given the chance to steer the wheel and move the lines around. It’s a nice way to relax and enjoy the breeze. I wouldn’t recommend it to the younglings that want adventure and speed. We went around in circles hoping for some wind. I can’t say I loved it but I didn’t hate it either. It was a nice experience but I wouldn’t do it again and 3 hours was too long.

We chartered the boat for a sail with Captain Nitzan Levy on Memorial Day at 6:00 PM, just in time to catch the sunset over the Hudson, with views of the NYC skyline. It was an amazing experience, never to be forgotten. Captain Nitzan was very professional, yet friendly and funny. She let the more experienced sailors among our group help the wind catch the sails by pulling the right ropes at the right time (I wish I knew in real life which ropes to pull to move faster and smoother…). All in all it was a very exhilarating and enjoyable experience which I know I will want to replete whenever I can. Kudos to our Captain! I highly recommend sailing with Sailors NYC on the Hudson, seeing the impressive skyline of NY and having such a wonderful time on board the ship. It can be very romantic or very entertaining happy and full of joy for 2 to 6 people. Don’t miss it!

After a terrific introductory sail with Founder/​Captain Nitzan and a group of 5 others, I only have the highest praise for Sailors NYC. It was really intimate and warm, and something I really recommend for anyone visiting or living in NYC. I liked it so much I took a couple here on their honeymoon on a sail — it was the highlight of their NYC trip.
Ultimately, the ability to learn the ropes from these very experienced captains, and have the ability to sail every day after work, or weekends made become a member! So I am now regularly heading down to Pier 25 after work, and planning many hangouts with friends on a lovely sailboat.
