Solid dive bar. The space compared to the Harlem public is huge and the crowd seems to be a little less pretentious. Giant jenga in the back is always fun and there are dry erase markers everywhere as bathroom graffiti is actually encouraged here. Would definitely recommend stopping in here midweek as the weekends can make for a very crowded experience.

Pros: Good drinks Good service AMAZING fries they’re so so good Grilled cheese hello Good atmosphere and size Games Lots of seating Cons: It’s super loud… But it’s like the neighborhood bar! And sometimes you want some volume anyways. :)

This place is ok. Mixed crowd. The working people. The obnoxious students. Heard the«one with coffee» slush was strong so I had to try it. Yeah no. It’s ok. I mean it’s a slush, how strong can it be? Taste pretty good tho. The draft is a little pricey I think, the large is not that large is like almost 1.5 cans for $ 8. Eh! The waffle fries were good. Friends ordered the grilled cheese, the one with steak, the eggo and the pest. The pest was pretty good. Tho the bread was a little too hard for my liking. I didn’t try the other 2 but they looked decent and my friends enjoyed them. The back area is pretty fun! Giant jenga, some arcades, shuffle board and this hook game thing that supposedly pretty hard to do? Got it on the fifth tries! Woot woot! When I was there a girl was promoting Jack Daniels, so we got a couple of free shots. Poor girl, she said she wanted picture to promote I guess, but the rest just drank without her taking picture. Then she said she will come back with more shots but she had to wait forever at the bar. Kinda feel bad for her. The bathroom. Yeah. Dirty. Wet floor. But guess it is what it is. Would I come back? Sure why not if my friends want to hangout there but wouldn’t go all the way there just to go there.

Yup, officially a 5 star. I go to this place more than I should admit. The food is great, not particularly healthy but, fuck it. Smother anything in cheese sauce and steakums and I’m game. The bartenders are great, all of them are just super chill people. Also, this is great place to go solo. Always good people there to casually chat up, and a generally attractive crowd if you’re looking for something more than a casual chat… All I’m sayin is, this place is dope.

The bar was ok, I came here with a group of 5 and was disappointed when they didn’t have an option for beer pitcher. However the nina lada was excellent and they did Have giant jenga. But we didn’t feel comfortable, when we did arrived we were getting eyes by the crowd there… cool games in the back area, place is lacking drink options

Harlem Public is to Adam Levine as At the Wallace is to the Quirky-But-Still-Attractive Maroon 5 Bass Player. By that I mean, At the Wallace is cool. It’s cheap. It’s still as fun as its partner bar, but there’s a lot more room for everyone & a lot of character. Giant Jenga? Whiteboard Bathrooms? Maybe it’s a dive bar, but I’ll swim here! I can get a can of Purple Haze for $ 6, and that’s pretty awesome. I’ve never tried the food here — the menu is much smaller than Harlem Public — but, according to these other reviews, I must! So happy to have you, At the Wallace!

This bar is pretty great. I love the games and the atmosphere. It could use more seating maybe but not really a problem.

Big fan. Held an engagement party for 80 folks here, and the staff did an incredible job. Food is delicious, drinks are inexpensive(even by non-NYC standards), and the folks who work here are fantastic. If I lived in the neighborhood, I’d spend at least a night here per week.

After a friend of mine who understands my love for hotdogs told me about this spot I just had to try it. Now I think I’m in love!!! I had the hot dog with the Mac and cheese and bacon on it(I wish I remembered the name of it) but OMG this was the most amazing hot dog I’ve ever had!!! The drinks were extremely affordable. I had the red wine on tap $ 5 a glass. There is also a bunch of different grilled cheese sandwiches that I can’t wait to try. I’ve already told about 5 ppl that I want to take them here! The bathroom is really cool there are a bunch of markers so your able to tag the walls. There is even a giant Jenga(I didn’t play but next time I will). The bartenders were super nice!!! I told one of them I loved her lip color and she actually went and got the lipstick out of her bag to show it to me.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed At the Wallace! I love this place so much I had my wedding reception here(no kidding). Apart from charming and incredibly laid back, easy going and thoughtful owners, at the Wallace is the best neighborhood bar for miles and miles! It was such a welcome addition to the neighborhood. It seems like the cool uncle to Harlem public and is more my speed. Here are four reasons why you should go. 1. The staff(bartenders bar backs security bussers) everyone is fucking cool. There is no bull shit from anyone here. Everyone seems to be in a good mood here. 2. The booze. Decent prices including some insanely cheap giant beers and wine in a can. That’s technically three glasses of wine in a 12 oz can for $ 10. All day everyday. 3. The food. Delicious, grown up and inventive twists on bad for you classics such as hot dogs, grilled cheese, waffle fries. My god! The waffle fries! They even have some with a fried egg on top. A fried egg! 4. The fun and games are the best part. My hubs and I consistently come in to drink and play pac man or drink and play Yahtzee. Would it be more economical to just buy Yahtzee and play at home? Yes but then we wouldn’t get to go to at the Wallace as often. Writing this review made me miss at the Wallace. I’m gonna go there now. Go! Enjoy this neighborhood gem!

I love living near this place. It is such a chill place to go after work for a drink. I’m a huge fan of the boozy slushies(The pink lemonade) and their food is great. I got the breakfast hot dog, which was awesome. Plus their fries are double fried or something. My only complaint is the 20 $ card minimum. The drinks are pretty cheap, so you would probably have to have 4 – 5 in order to reach the minimum, which is kind of ridiculous since I’m not trying to get wasted on a Tuesday night.

A big birthday was coming up(30!) and I had never had a birthday party. Nothing says fun birthday party like Jenga, Connect 4, and beer. At the Wallace was it! Four points: 1. There are two bars right next to each other. At the Wallace is the one on the right. 2. There is a photo booth if you need proof of all the questionable choices you are making. 3. The Jenga is in the back is the star of the show although it sounds like thunder when the tower falls. It is such fun especially when you end up on a team with 3 random strangers. 4. There are markers in the bathroom so you can leave a message. Mine said, «It is my turn. Love, CP». Such fun! I may have found my new favorite bar.

This place has more than 12 foot high walls, a large winding bar opposite both an outside seating area, what appeared to be wooden, almost shoe-shine style benches and a bright, clean kitchen. It felt almost like a large, clean, mega dive bar just based on the laid back, down to earth nature of the massive space. The bartender was quick with our orders despite the multitude of people waiting for drinks. To celebrate the Puerto Rican Day parade(and the fact I was not there) I had a Nina Colada and for around $ 9 dollars I had a large beer stein full of a well-made Pina Colada sans the crushed ice. As my compatriots and I moved to a shaded, cooler table in the back, I kept hearing slamming noises and assumed bad step dancing was occurring. Apparently Jenga is a competitive sport since sitting at a table in the back you can hear game pieces being slammed down and youngins play fighting as if their honor depended on it. Sitting at a comfortable, large table as I sipped on my cocktail and equally large water, I quietly envied Michael as his friendly, neighborhood bar was a hell of a lot more welcoming than any in my ‘hood.

At the Wallace is a constant go-to for the boo and I for a multitude of reasons. 1. It’s a couple blocks from my house 2. Drinks are cheap 3. Drinks are GOOD! 4. Good draft menu 5. WiFi and no-rush so I come here with my laptop and smash out some work 6. They have board games and 5ft-tall jenga and the like 7. Seating outside, you can bring your well-behaved dog as long as it;s not super crowded of course(ie leave the pup at home if it’s Friday night) It’s a large bar, with seating in the back as well. Usually not super crowded like next door, and there’s outside seating as mentioned prior. The staff is friendly, the vibe is hot and it’s just an overall chill place to hang out with friends or make new ones. At the Wallace is the neighborly bar we all wish we had, and fortunately for me — I do.

This is my favorite uptown bar. It’s a casual neighborhood bar. There is a life size Jenga. They have all of my favorite childhood games. They make some good drinks. The jukebox needs some more current options it’s a throw back. The food is really good and comes out really quickly. The chipotle mayo is a must with the truffle fries!

New favorite bar in this neighborhood. Yeah, it’s a dive bar but not just any dive bar! I never even thought wine in a can existed?!? Ok, it’s a $ 10 can but at 13% ABV you are sure to get your money’s worth. I only had 1 and had quite the buzz. My absolute favorite thing is the originality and great detail they put into the theme/décor. Old school rotary phones, an actual pay phone inside, menu board(resembles old school pizzerias) and arcade games from back in the day. It’s like stepping into another time zone. My second favorite thing? Prices! Ugh $ 4 drafts? That’s unheard of. I hope they can maintain the awesome deals. The menu was interesting! I had the Harlem Dog which was delicious! Topped with corn, caramelized onions, mustard and a bunch of other delicious things I can’t recall(hence the wine in a can). Harlem Public is directly next door(might be the same owner). However, completely different from one another. FYI, they have outdoor seating(communal tables). I want to go back like right now…

Wine in can, wine on tap, box wine served in carafe form? Seriously what’s not to love?! From the folks that brought us Harlem Public comes one of my favorite new spots in town, and I’ve got a feeling this place is going to get even better with age. Walking in, I was immediately struck by a few choice things that are usually good markers of a great bar: 1) First up is the bar itself; it’s large,(like dominates the room large) and let me tell you that’s always a plus in my book. There is nothing worse than being a forced wallflower at a place, holding down your tiny life raft of a table while your friend desperately tries to order a round at a bar barely wide enough to allow for a server station. No you want to be able to sit up at the bar, where you can get the lay of the land(along with access to a steady stream of booze). 2) The place is airy. Now as you know(or, if you don’t know, now you know… you know what, let’s leave the lyrics to Biggie), I love a dive bar. This is not a dive; it merely pretends to be one. Yes there are markers in the bathroom, and the walls are covered in obscene words and images, but it’s all just a façade. There is a photo booth, new rope lights, hipster celling fans(not knocking the fans, they are pretty cool looking), you get the picture. The giant garage door up front, when its open, makes this place one of the most breezy, comfortable places to have a drink north of 145th street. 3) Perhaps the biggest reason this place is so epic, and the reason it will be a favorite for a long time to come; The drink selection. This place has it all, and in spectacular fashion. You can get huge pours of PBR for 7 $, or Lions head for 8 $. And believe me, I do. But the thing this place does best is wine(you’d never guess when you first walk in the door). They have wine on tap which is not a new thing in town by any means, but it’s still fun. If wine on tap isn’t your thing(though if this is the case, it means we can no longer be friends), you can ask for 500mL of bandit(white or red), that comes served in a practically overflowing carafe, and is served with a tiny glass(classy as sh*t). Finally though there is the coup de grace, wine in a can. As Dennis says«By the way you guys, can I just say as a side note, I am loving this can-wine thing». I couldn’t agree more, I love wine in a can. it really allowed me to take my hand gestures to the next level, without the fear of spilling wine all over the place. Combine everything above with a steakums filled grilled cheese, chili dog, and some waffle fries, and you’ve got a place that is without a doubt worth checking out.

Have a blast playing jenga and getting liquid fuel in your system while meeting some cool people as well. At least I do when I come here. This place can easily become your favorite spot in thé area. Im still waiting to see what their kitchen holds, however, I doubt business is hurting from that. There is no beating thé value nor thé quality of what you find here. Bouncers are definitely on point so no need to worry about anyone being a jerk here.
