Bought some chicken, rice, beans, and a order of fried plantains. It is a mediocre experience as I sit here with this food. The rice taste pretty good but the beans has an off-taste to it which i cant put my finger on it. No one will bother to eat it over here. The chicken was pretty okay, a little on the dry side. The plantains were pretty good of course, only thing is they weren’t plenty. I found it to be a small amount. Overall it is very mediocre food; nothing stands out. Would I come back here? Maybe. If i want mediocre experience!

I have given this restaurant 2 chances now, I won’t be going back. First time my colleagues and I ordered chicken quesadilla which came without chicken and so we asked where the chicken was… she brought us chicken on the bone and charged us extra. We complained and got serious attitude from the waitress. Today I went to get take out, got baked chicken and white rice with beans. I got red sauce, no beans at all. A cup full of bean juice! Maduros were not maduros, those balls of lovely yellow sticky outside. They were fried plantains, nothing else. I will not be back. At least give me beans with my $ 11 meal! The same meal anywhere else is lunch special for $ 6!

I’ve only ordered food to go from El Nuevo Jobo. What I’ve had is pretty solid! I usually go for the red rice and beans, their chicken soup(with whole pieces of chicken, bone and everything), and their tostones. Said tostones are pretty top notch, some of the better ones in the neighborhood! They’re double-fried and creamy in the middle. Mmmmmm. If ordering food, if I were you, I’d call in an order rather than go straight there to order at the counter. Last time I went, it took close to 20 minutes before I got my food. There is a 15% discount for NYP employees with your ID badge; dispute the fact that it’s typed very prominently on their menus, the woman at the cash register usually has no idea what my co-workers and I are talking about and gives us the discount a trifle begrudgingly. Heh. *shrug*

At first they had amazing food but now they suck! This small restaurant wants to be a nightclub so bad but its never going to happen! The food is ok at best but they should have kept the old cook maybe they’d have more business.

Food is good and cheap. Empanadas are a little expensive but are worth it. If you’re ordering food off the menu call in ahead of time or prepare to wait! All in all I’ll be back

Great location, close to the train with authentic Caribbean latin food. The«empanadas» are really good with excellent prices. Being from the Latin Caribbean the«asopoa» was definitely below standard: no vegetables, very salty and fatty. On the other hand the service is bad: you are completely awaiting like a fool to be seated(your presence is completely ignored, till you start questioning what is going on etc); service at the table is not any different takes long to take your order and for the food to come back. Appetizer comes after the main course. Some of the waiters even had a «dubi». Generally a good authentic Latin Caribbean restaurant but needs improvement in the service.

The Churrasco is absolutely amazing. So flavorful! The place is pretty loud with music. However we did go on a Friday so the afterwork pay day crowd was in full effect at the bar. But the food is great! Kicks Presidente to the curb!

First of all, when I called for delivery this evening, I was placed on hold for more than 5 minutes. I should have known then to order from somewhere else. But noooo… I ended up hanging up and calling back. Just trying to give my order to the woman who answered the phone was an agonizing experience. I had to repeat every single thing that I said 3−4X. So annoying!!! Then there is the inconsistent preparation of food. Ordered the boneless chicken chunks on Saturday. The breading was well seasoned and the chicken was moist and tender. Ordered the exact same meal the following Wednesday and it was some of the worse chicken that I’ve ever eaten: no breading, overcooked, dry and very chewy. So disappointing! I like supporting local businesses, but this restaurant will not be one of them. This was my 3rd and final bad experience with this place. There are too many other restaurants in the area that sell better food.

This place is complete fucking bullshit. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME I order something from here, I get a half-assed version of the dish that’s actually on the menu. Once, I ordered the 3 cheese penne and they gave me pasta drenched in olive oil with some Parmesan sprinkled in the middle and a whole lot of coriander all over it. Another time, I ordered Penne a la vodka and that wasn’t vodka sauce ATALL. It was just a whole lot of coriander and the bullshit tomato sauce you buy at the supermarket. The meat also tastes extremely bloody. This restaurant can go eat my entire ass. I bet it’ll be better than a lot of the shit they have here. Never order from here.

I came here jonesing for a Mofongo and ordered the churrasco Mofongo. The Mofongo itself was pretty good(I had better) the sauce on the plate was really good. The skirt steak however had suffered from third degree burns. It was so overcooked it was barely recognizable. It had a burnt taste and was crispy as if whoever cooked it just lit the bitch on fire lol. Service was good. My waitress was friendly, attentive and professional. I doubt I would return to this establishment. I could find a way better Mofongo elsewhere.

The food is good but the music is so loud you can’t have a conversation. Our appetizer came after dinner. Make sure that you point at your selection on the menu, because the server brought my friend the wrong food… twice because she misunderstood him. He ended up eating a chicken caesar salad… at a Dominican restaurant.

Best Dominican food I’ve had in a long time. The beans steak and bacalao to die for. food taste like my grandma is in the kitchen. The wait staff is kinda rude but I expect that in the heights.

Food is good and decent price. Services are lack luster and just like any other typical Spanish spot they are not trained to acknowledge you when you walk in. You have to either stand there like a fool or make noise before anyone notices you and tells you to give them a minute. 4 people and nobody came up to me until I said wtf, can someone take care of me. Mind you I was the only person at the counter. The reason why I gave it this many stars is because of the food portions and good taste. Prices are decent and after they take your order, is quickly made. Nothing to rave home about.

Ordered something on grub hub… Food hadn’t arrived an hour and 10 minutes later so I called to check up on it and lady on the phone tells me she will send it out in 5 minutes. In all that time I could’ve went out and bought food elsewhere or gotten take out in any of the other local spanish places, eaten, taken a nap, and run an errand. Won’t be ordering again.

Looking for a good traditional Latin food(chivo guisado) I went to this restaurant and it surprised me that it was one of the best I ever had. I checked the menu and it was interesting so I decided to go again with some of my friends. We tried the parillada mista, had some drinks of their great happy-hour and it was amazing. The food is good, the staff is pleasant and the manager is very professional. Now my friend and I go to this restaurant very often.

I had originally wanted to go to Tavern Heights across the street to watch the World Cup final, but as the match had already started, the place was packed. I went into the street to see if I could find an alternate bar to watch the game while comfortably seated and having to flag down over-worked servers. Lo and behold, there was a bar directly across the street, and they advertised $ 3 beers. I entered and was happy to see that not only did they have enough screens watch the match, but that there were only a handful of folks inside. I took a seat at the bar. After a minute or two, the server caught my eye and I asked for a beer list. «Corona?» she asked in a heavy accent, and then I realized that this was not the sort of bar for anyone who demands English-language service. Still, the servers all seemed friendly. I accepted the beer and turned to watch the match(which was playing in Spanish). A little after half-time I was joined by my Spanish companion, and we ordered some food(the cuban sandwhich and fries). The sandwich was surprisingly great and the fries were pretty good. My companion made the acquaintance of the manager/owner – who is also from Spain – and they struck up a friendly conversation. By the end of the match, all the seats in the smallish room were taken, mostly by young men who were there to hang out and maybe catch the end of the match(though they seemed mostly preoccupied with drinking the buckets of corona they all had brought to their tables). I really enjoyed the place, because of its nice-without-being-formal décor, quality food, ample TV screens, pleasant patron density – though it did get a little loud, and chance to work on my spanish. 4 stars because I had a great experience there, but your own mileage may vary. I’m definitely planning to go back, maybe more for a lunch than a night out.
