Came here for happy hours and it was better than I expected! I saw 3.5 stars on Unilocal and automatically assumed it won’t be good but seriously don’t judge a book by its cover! You can’t say something is not good until you’ve tried it yourself. * Happy hour 5−7pm * $ 2 everything on the happy hour menu * Can only order HH drinks at the bar I’m usually not a burger person but those burgers were delicious! I only tried the 5n slider but I would definitely go back for the vegan and turkey one.

02/05/2015 — Updated review. As per my rule, if there is a issue and the restaurant reaches out and understands and works on fixing the issue, they immediately get bumped up! Me and a representative of 5 Napkin Burger had a conversation and we understood each other. Now I recommend them to everyone! Enjoy both the food and service! And realize they are working on being the best in the business! 01/29/2015 — Initial Review — So, a friend and I had stopped by this place since we were celebrating a friend’s birthday at a bar nearby and we were craving burgers. We both had the 5 napkin burger and it is definitely one of the more unique burgers I have had. Was it good? Definitely! Was it worth it? Read on! So moving past the food, the main reason I took off the 2 stars is because of the staff. I would completely understand if this place had a dive bar vibe or they were crazy busy but the place is actually a very posh restaurant and on a Thursday night at 10 pm, there were barely 10 customers. To start with, when my friend and I walked in, the hostess gave us a look like we didn’t belong at the restaurant, which is fine but it started us on the wrong foot. To follow that up, the server only came 3 times total — first for water, second for food order, third to give the food. I actually had to walk up twice — once for water and a second time to ask for the check. Not exactly the most pleasant experience! So to summarize, definitely stop by this place one time to try out the 5 napkin burger but pardon the staff!

There’s usually a wait for a table, but I can’t tell why that is. The food is average at best and the service is on the slower side. I have not been impressed with this place on both occasions I’ve been here and will not be returning.

Came here for happy hour with my sister, happy hour until 7pm, then 10pm –12am. I had a glass of Pino Grigio($ 5) which was good considering the venu, my sister had a Cosmo($ 5), which taste like pink lemonade, and we shared sliders which was $ 2 each; two turkey sliders and one beef. The turkey sliders were OK, in would not order it again and the beef was good. I would come back.

Eh. Only got, needed and used one napkin… We split the app of potato skins — 6 little(really small) round bite size half potatoes topped with sour cream, cold & old bacon. Ordered the BBLT burger, bacon & fries all well done. Burger was bloody, bacon was cold and fries were not crispy & a small portion. Dessert was a thin slice of ice cold chocolate cake! Huh?!? Ketchup was sour and exploded on opening. Server was great. The décor was raided from a butcher shop with hooks and scales in a wide open room — nice but its good food that I wanted & would keep me coming back. Shake Shack next time…

Honestly, I do adore a place that makes great burgers. I usually come to the bar during late night happy hour… which runs from 5pm-7pm, and a late night happy hour from 10pm-midnight; and I’m never disappointed. The little sliders and hand rolls are A+ each sliders goes for $ 2, hand rolls(salmon or tuna) $ 2, chicken wings(50 cents) each. YES I KNOW =D and 4 literally miniature taquitos for $ 2.while the beers go for $ 4 and cosmos $ 5 I highly recommended anyone stopping by here after work and when your around the area for happy hour, you won’t be disappointed, the atmosphere is great and your wallet will thank you.

Highly recommend. The namesake burger is WONDERFUL!!! Juicy, flavorful beef with just the right amount of fat. Not dry! Perfect bun. Rosemary aioli was a nice touch. Fries are excellent as well. Great service. Spacious atmosphere. Loved it! Definitely going back.

came with 2 other people and all ordered the bacon burger. we asked for sweet potato fries on the side as well as the regular fries regular fries are shoe string, not my favorite although my friends liked them. the sweet potato fries were quite good and I liked them better than the regular fries. the bacon in the burger was very fatty, and the burger was cooked a little less than what we asked for. my friends burger looked more like a rare than a medium rare. we didn’t want to be annoying especially because it was busy so we didn’t ask for it to be cooked a bit more. they accept credit cards! we were able to split the check three ways.

I have read some great reviews about this place. I made reservations for 7pm and sure enough we were seated on time. I ordered the veggie burger and it was sooooo delicious. My friends ordered the avacado ranch burger and they enjoyed every bite of the burger. I usually don’t finish my meal but this burger was finished rather quickly! We also ordered the cheesecake and it was so creamy and yummy! It’s a bit pricey but worth every penny ! Will go back again !

The service is slow here, waited 10 minutes for a waitress to show up, then a half hour for the food to show up. That must be why they’re crowded! The people here are friendly enough, but just slow… s…l…o…w!!! My daughter got chocolate milk, and didn’t like it. Tasted like skim milk but they claim it was whole milk. Did I mention that they’re slow? Maybe it’s because it’s New Years Day and everyone is hung over, but they’re slow! My daughter also ordered the Sunday Pasta from the kids menu. When it finally came out, there were three small ravioli in a bowl. I don’t think a 4 year old would get full from eating these let alone a 7 year old only months away from 8! Within 2 minutes, the ravioli were gone and she was eating my fries. It’s shameful. My girlfriend and I ordered burgers, and they weren’t bad. I asked for medium rare, and got well done. I didn’t dare send it back or I’d still be here for dinner. The gluten free bun was the best part of the meal. It was actually good. Not the crumbly type that a lot of restaurants use, so I gave them bonus points there. The prices are pretty steep for a burger too, one of the most expensive burgers I’ve ever had. Maybe it’s because it’s NYC, but who knows. Now that we’re done eating, we’re going to head back to New Jersey so we can get my daughter some food. She’s still hungry after her meal and my fries. Go figure. So in summary, they’re slow, and expensive, and skimpy on the kids meals. If you want my advice, go find a different place to eat!

Been to 5 Napkin Burger in Hell’s Kitchen a bunch of time, but, this was my first time at this location. We ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and the Kung Pao Veggie Bowl. All in all, it was a good experience. Buffalo Chicken Sandwich — nothing too fancy, but, a very well-executed Buffalo Chicken Sandwich Kung Pao Veggie Bowl — I want to say that this dish is wonderful; however, there is one aspect of the dish that I think I need to point out, as, I found it to be very off-putting. There were a lot of sichuan peppercorns in the dish — they cause the dish to have a strange after taste, as sichuan peppercorns are known to have a tingling and/or numbing effect on the tongue. As a result, the deliciousness of the dish is nixed after biting into one of the sichuan peppercorns, of which there were many in the dish; I’m wondering if the dish I had just happened to have more sichuan peppercorns than normal or what, but, I found it to be a strange sensation that left an unpleasant aftertaste in the mouth Definitely will return to 5 Napkin Burger, as I’m a fan, but, probably won’t be ordering the Kung Pao Veggie Bowl again, unless, I can be assured there are no sichuan peppercorns in the dish.

So on my dinner break I decided to come here. I decided to sit at the bar and order. My wait time for a seemingly uncrowded bar was about 15 minutes before anyone approached me to take my order. Finally, the gorgeous Asian bartender asked for my order and I proceeded to order a Tanqueray Martini and the Asiago Turkey burger. It was ok, the burger, actually really good. And the martini hit the spot. Good choices! And the service was exceptional after they took my order. It’s almost fine dinning for burgers!

Boyfriend got a vanilla milkshake which he loved. It was really sweet and creamy. I got the bblt burger which was amazing and definitely one of the better burgers I have had in the city. Careful cause it’s super juicy and leaks a lot. The fries were good and the waitress taught me a cool ketchup trick by taping on the 50 on the bottle(not the label!) although they were a little more crispy than I’d like it but I think it’s more of a preference thing. Boyfriend got the guac burger and thought there was a little too much guac and mayo in it.

I went here on a Saturday night with my girlfriend. We were craving Bareburger and was walking right past this location that caught our eye. Seemed like a spacious burger joint with great reviews so we gave it a try. We started off ordering two diet cokes(we weren’t charged refills which is nice), the wings and a sushi roll. The wings were fresh tasting and meaty which was refreshing as opposed to traditional American restaurants that serve frozen wings that are overly fried. The sushi was a bit on the pricey side but tasted great and we’re big. As for our entrees, I had the bblt and my girlfriend had the turkey burger with cheese tots. The Bblt was great tasting, flavorful bacon, a nice toasted bun served with shoestring fries(which I personally favor when eating burgers), the cheese tots were interesting, they were very potato-y with an infused cheddar taste. Very dense and airy. If you’re looking for crispy tots with cheese sauce or cheddar melted on, I would avoid. Regardless, it was delicious. The one compliant is the turkey burger, very unflavorful and non juicy. I would avoid trying next time. What makes this place great is it has a diverse menu, great décor, its very spacious(not on top of eachother), and flavorful menu items. Highly recommend

Loved this place! I ordered the turkey burger and it was amazing. It was a true gourmet burger with gourmet French fries. Everything was fresh, presented well and loaded with flavor. The place was packed and we didn’t have to wait for a table — our food came out fast, too! Our waitress was also very nice. I hope to come back!

Original 5-Napkin burger = lots and lots of sauce+toppings on a thick piece of meat. It’s actually really really good. Medium rare came out *actually* medium rare. It’s so flavorful with what aoili and other toppings go on it –making it messy and hence the name Five Napkin I suppose. The meat itself seemed a bit dry or crisp, but you’re not gonna be able to tell that unless you go looking for a naked piece of the burger, and chances there are none. The meat is not the star of the show here, but the show is very delicious so for that, 5*. Love the bar décor and two corners of windowed seating. It makes for an awesome, vibrant atmosphere. Plus outdoor seating. Some people knock it because it’s a NYC *chain* but it started out as one store churning out some awesome burgers, and this one is no different. Plus, really good happy hour.

If you looking for a nice quick casual decent meal with other options other than a burger come here … Food was good, taco trio and the burger salad both made with fresh ingredients and quality food . The kids meals are good as well the chicken and ranch are just tenders with ranch dipping sauce and the kids quesadilla was good too… The thing to order are the shakes they are delicious especially the cookies and cream. Enjoy it service can be spotty but in all we would come back again if we are in this neighborhood !

After walking by hundreds of times, my boyfriend and I finally walked in to give it a shot. I wasn’t completely blown away, but the burgers were decent and the atmosphere was pretty laid back. Before we received our burgers, we had the steamed pork dumplings($ 9.50). I thought it was a pretty random menu option, but they were pretty tasty, albeit expensive for the 6 dumplings. I enjoyed the Asiago turkey burger($ 14.75) much better than I did the original 5 napkin burger($ 16.75). Something about the cheese on that burger just didn’t sit well with me. On the other hand, the Asiago turkey had a subtly spicy kick and juicy patty. I will say the the fries were to die for though. Additionally, we tried two of the nonalcoholic drinks. The blueberry mint lemonade and the lemon mint iced tea. They were both incredibly refreshing, yet a bit pricey for what you got($ 6 each) The meal ended up being a lot pricier than expected, but the service was friendly and the food were pretty great overall!
