The fish tacos are , I also had the salmon with garlic butter and rice. The garlic butter just needs more garlic taste but other than that the food is great.

Very good tacos! Was headed next door to the sushi place, but the menu posted on the window caught my eye and I was Hook’d. The person who took my order was very pleasant and helpful. The place had a clean, simple, design. I ordered three different tacos: fried fish, shrimp and white fish. All very delicious. Yes, on the smaller end, but they were perfect for me. I plan to go back and try something else on their menu. Looking forward to it!

After realizing this place opened up by my house I thought I would try it out. Who doesn’t like fish tacos? I know I do. I ordered clam chowder, crispy fish tacos and shrimp tacos. Let’s start from the top, the clam chowder was pretty good. Remember it’s all realitive. Northridge is at least 20 miles from the ocean, so it’s not going to be the best you’ve tried. On to the tacos: they were pretty freaking good. The seafood itself was cooked well and seasoned perfectly. All the fixings made a beautiful concoction. So what’s my beef? The price. Now trust me I’ll spend the money for good food but for the size of the tacos and the amount of seafood is too small. I would only return for their happy hour when the price is right. Daddy note: good place for kiddos. Took my six month old. Place was pretty much ours on a weekend.

A lot of people who have tried this establishment before me have said the same thing: the food is pretty good, but the prices are steep. What’s my opinion? The food is good! It’s very satisfying. I ordered salmon with rose sauce pasta. Rose sauce is a combination of alfredo and marinara for those who are wondering. The salmon was cooked nicely. Pasta was mediocre. I think if it had more sauce it would of made it better. My friend ordered their shrimp salad. She enjoyed it and said it was surprisingly filling. I also ordered a side of their poke. It lacked in the flavor department. I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s definitely missing something. The chips were cooked fresh which is a plus. As for prices, yes it is a bit expensive, but we’re talking about a seafood establishment. Their main dishes range anywhere from $ 10-$ 14. Pretty standard if you ask me. Other than salads and pasta, you can get your seafood in a wrap, tacos, or paired with rice. There’s a nice selection of things to order from their menu considering their establishment isn’t that large. I love having choices! As I have said, their establishment isn’t that big, but it’s nice. I kinda get a beachy, fisherman’s wharf feel from their décor and vibe. Service is pleasant. The guy at the counter was helpful and friendly. I wouldn’t mind coming here to get my seafood fix the next time I’m craving it since it’s near my work!

Tried Hook’d Fish the other night and was hooked! I asked if they could do a fried shrimp and fried scallop combo and they were willing to accommodate, which was nice. Came with fries and cole slaw. My husband ordered the grilled mahi mahi, Cajun style with brown rice and cole slaw. The fried seafood was excellent — the scallops were the big diver scallops, not the tiny bay scallops many places use. The shrimp were also good sized. The breading was great — not greasy or oily. The fries were good — it’s hard to screw up fries, although I do wish they used a thicker cut of fry instead of the shoestring kind. I wasn’t a fan of the cole slaw — I prefer a more traditional kind of cole slaw with a meal like this and this one was not very mayo-ey and had raisins in it. I’m sure people like it, but it wasn’t to my taste. The husband said his mahi mahi was good, and he liked the cole slaw(but he doesn’t care for mayo-ey cole slaw). Portions were a good size and well-priced for what you got. I like that they have a condiment bar where you can get your own sauces and lemons, etc. Bonus points for having malt vinegar too — that’s a must for me when having fried seafood and fries. I do wish they served fried clams too — that’s something not many places in LA serve(and do well). Couple of criticisms, which are minor but worth mentioning — we walked up to the register and no one was there. There was a girl wiping down a table a few feet away, and the cooks were preparing the food. No one looked up or greeted us or said«we’ll be right with you». After a couple minutes, the girl cleaning the table came to the register and asked if she could take our order. No smile, no «hi», nothing. She even sounded down. She came across like she didn’t want to be there. Also, the food takes a while to come out. I like that the seafood is all made to order, but it’s not a place to come to if you’re looking for a quick bite to eat. It took us almost an hour start to finish to order and finish our meal. I’ll be back, because the seafood was good. Hopefully the service can improve a bit before my next visit.

Tiny fish tacos. The fried shrimp was barely OK, and same with fired scallops. Really a waste of time. The Shrimp was about $ 12, the scallops about 14 and the tacos are about $ 3 a piece. There was no fish to be found. You get a lot of fried breaded batter with little to no fish. Scallops were better than the others. Nothing special here at all. In fact, when they could have shined with some nice grilled fish tacos, they simply failed. I wont be returning. As far as the inside, it looks like they need to finish up the sheet metal underside as the wood support is exposed. and the kitchen range and equipment look slapped together. Décor was a turn key purchase form some marketing group that claimed to have beach and fish related props. Its pretty bad. Service was good from the with distinct eyebrows. The guy at register was trying to help, but it was obvious there was nothing good to recommend. He just said«Go for fried, as anything fried is good». No, not this place. Only thing I found good about this place was the name.

Our family had this for takeout. We all enjoyed our dinners. The grilled zucchini was small in portion and greasy, but had good flavor. I had the cajun grilled trout with rice and salad, no dressing and garlic butter on the side. I am very happy I ordered the garlic butter on the side instead of on it; it would have made the fish too greasy. The rice had great flavor. We will be returning.

PISH!!! Walked in here because I wanted something different… something I haven’t really had before to excite the taste buds! Hook’d Fish & Grill satisfied that thirst today. Restaurant is cool. my kids complained that the drink machine was far away. but pish posh they can use the exercise. Workers were cool and attentive. I saw that they were always doing something although there weren’t many customers around so that’s cool. Food. I ordered the fried fish and shrimp combo and my boys got grilled salmon with rice and a kids pasta. The fried shrimp and fish were good. There is almost no immediate taste in the beginning but the tartar sauce fixed that. Not much flavor or creativity in the batter. but it wasn’t terrible. My sons garlic butter salmon was good but the salmon was a little tough for my taste. the kids pasta was decent as well. it came with garlic bread slices and my kid REALLY enjoyed them! he made me buy him more! Good experience and good food! major selling point here is that my kids really enjoyed it. and it got them to eat some fish instead the usually cheeseburger or chicken tenders~ EATMOREFISH!

Pretty disappointed in ‘crispy fish tacos’. The actual fish piece-just one each taco-was literally the size of my pointer finger. Seriously? I guess you get what you pay for because they are pretty cheap. Grilled Mahi didn’t have much taste and a gummy texture. *Whats really strange to me is that none of these items were served with any lemon or lime. What seafood restaurant doesn’t serve lemon with their seafood??* I will say that I have had the shrimp tacos and those were pretty good. Wish I had better to say as I do like to support small businesses.

I liked all the food we had, we had fish and chips and fried shrimp, and seared ahi with rice and cole slaw and the clam chowder. Food was great. if I can JUSTMAKE A COMMENT : I ordered the clam chowder and I specifically asked for it to be brought out BEFORE dinner. It was a cold cold night. I even went back after we paid(after waiting for 10 min) just to make sure., We were re-assured. Of course the fish and chips came first and my Ahi came second. WHEREISTHESOUP? The waitress explained that they had a lot of order of the soup and most likely they had to redo another batch ??? I get that, and I am glad for them. However this is something that shall be explained to the customer. We waited for about 15 — 20 min for our food and when we were half way through it, the soup arrived. If we would have known this, I would have just asked them to either cancel the soup or just prep it to go. Because of that probably we had to wait 20 min, starving for the dinner, yet it still didn’t come as asked. Otherwise beside this minor issue, I will go back for sure.

I think Hook’d is exactly what I am gonna be after dining here for the first time. It is so hard to find a dine in fast casual for this type of fare. The pricing and variety are encouraging too! Stopped in with my brothers, who are both pretty particular, and all three of us were pleasantly surprised and pleased with our lunchtime vittles. I will do my best to paraphrase a few of their comments. Grilled White Fish was in his mind«perfectly cooked, not over or under done with great char-grill flavor». Slam dunk if you ask me, nice sides and the rice was a fluffy and a generous accompaniment. Two Taco Combo-One Crispy and One grilled(white fish) with rice and beans. The picture doesn’t do this justice. The crispy was Ensenada style good and the grilled was cooked spot on. Both tacos are served in soft corn tortillas and topped with cabbage and drizzled with a bit of chipotle mayo. The best of both worlds… make sure and squeeze a lime on them .Oh and both the rice and beans were a tasty too. Fish and Chips made with Cod. Although they look a bit more like fish sticks rather than a fish fillet they are certainly not lacking in the taste department. «Man these are really good!» I sampled one myself and the come served with a generous portion of chips aka fries. Crispy and tender and lots of flavor they are worthy of praise but not pub worthy packaging. Still all of enjoyed the fish and chips. Pretty cool that they even have a Happy Hour Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 5:30 where the aforementioned tacos are only 1.79 each. The Mahi and Salmon are just 2.29 each and plenty of other bargains too. The adjacent parking lot for Hook’d is a bit cramped as it shares space with several business’ including a B of A. To me it is worth navigating the busy corner of Reseda and Devonshire to partake of this seafood gem. I am looking forward to trying a bunch of the other menu items soon.

Hook’d Fish Grill is exactly what the West Valley needed. It’s been tough for seafood lovers over the years on this side of the good San Fernando Valley. A brief history of casual seafood restaurants in the West Valley– Catch 21, Northridge: 2007 to 2012 Catch 21, Encino: 2007 to 2013 Hooked on Fish, Encino: 2008 to 2011 Off the Hook, Encino: 2011 to 2012 Cal Fish N Fish, Encino:(Don’t blink for this one) 10-13-2013 to 11-2-2013 RIP to all those places. People of the Valley, please support Hook’d Fish Grill! I was excited to try this new seafood restaurant! Went in for lunch today on this Saturday afternoon. Only two other tables occupied at 12:30pm. My order– Clam Chowder to start. Arrived hot! Great flavor, good consistency. The clams and chunks of potato were very lonely. This New England Clam Chowder needed more clams and potato. That’s going to be my only complaint on this review. Fish and Shrimp Combo with fries and coleslaw. Excellent! Very good crispy fried shrimp and plenty of them. Reminded me of Catch 21. Fried fish was very light and pale but tasted great. Good quality cod. Honorable mention goes out to the coleslaw with the golden raisins. Nice touch. My GF the Queen of Reseda order– Grilled Mahi Mahi, Cajun style with rice and salad. Fish cooked well, and everything was fresh. Eat more seafood. It’s makes you smart.

Had the salmon here the other night for dinner and was pleased with what I got. I ordered it with garlic butter, and my dining partner chose the seasoned tilapia. The fish is fresh and well prepared, and comes with rice that is solidly good, and a salad that is very fresh. The portion sizes are reasonable, not huge, and the food is pretty healthy and fairly priced. I think this is a great option for a good dinner that fits the bill for flavor, calorie count and portion size. Service was also good. This is not a «fine dining» establishment so I wouldn’t come in with those expectations, but it is definitely better than most, if not all, the quick fish food restaurants I’ve tried. Welcome to the neighborhood!

Third time here second time in a week!!! We ate there tonight. My husband and I ordered four original crispy fish tacos one grilled shrimp taco and one Cajun salmon taco, and an order of fries. 3 crispy fish for him and the rest for me it was soooooooo so good. So good we ordered two more grilled shrimp tacos!!! And fries. The salsa is fresh and yummy!!! Really enjoy their food! Very happy Hook’d came to the neighborhood! I have a few suggestions: 1. Flat screen TV’s(2 on each wall) 2. Mirror in women bathroom 3. Hand cut fresh French fries 4. Alcohol wouldn’t hurt but not a must(as we live close and have our own«happy hour» before we come) As always, looking forward to our next visit and trying more things!!!

This place is a pretty solid fast casual fish grill restaurant. Came here on a whim with family on a random weekday afternoon. No other customers but us. We were immediately greeted and the person brought us some menus. You then order at the register and they bring you your food. I like that they have happy hour specials. We ordered crispy calamari and it was tasty and freshly fried. I just wish they had a bigger serving of it. I ordered the Garlic Butter Mahi-Mahi Plate with rice and salad. I’m a fan of the Garlic Butter but next time I think I’ll try the Cajun! Mmmm. They have a condiments bar which includes salsa, tartar sauce, and cocktail sauce. The salsa perfectly complemented the Garlic Butter Mahi-Mahi which I loved. My little nephew had the Kids Pasta. Chose the Alfredo Pasta for him and it was great. Overall the service here is awesome and parking is not a problem as it is in a plaza. Next time I’d like to try the fish tacos as well.

Hooked on Hook’d! (+) I haven’t tried the cajun style but the garlic butter was on point. And it’s pretty casual, order at the register then they bring you your food when ready. Simple tables and chairs. nice for a lunch maybe not so much for a dinner date. (+) Near my office, plenty of parking, location is next to Shogun sushi… easy (+) I like the menu, good variety and enough to come back for to try. Catfish was great. (-) They screwed up my order and switched the sides with my friend. Oh well, got to try the salad and the coleslaw.

I’m glad a casual fish restaurant finally opened in the north valley. Came here on a Saturday night around 6:30pm to order takeout. There were about 10 – 12 people in the restaurant and no line to order. The location shares parking with Bank of America and Shogun Sushi, so parking is pretty easy. I ordered the fried calamari and the fried fish and shrimp combo. The food cost a total is $ 19 and the everything tasted pretty good, exactly what I would have expected. Next time I come I’ll try the grilled fish options.

Apparently, this place is new. Came here to get a decent meal. It’s pretty good if you want to eat healthy, but of course it’s pricey if you want healthy. The service is hybrid and since it’s still starting out, I think it’s whoever’s open is who helps you. Condiments and some napkin dispensers weren’t checked on which explained why I had to scavenge for different things. Got the grilled shrimp. Unfortunately, it was overcooked to the point where I could barely peel the shell off and i was so hungry so I had to eat them together and spit out what I could. They forgot my dressing. Had to stand there and wait until either the guy was done taking the order or once one of the cooks saw me standing there. The fish was also unfortunately tasteless. Also, don’t be afraid to use salt, I had to completely salt everything because it was all bland. The fries were good. They were out of the bag fries. Couldn’t really go wrong. I plan to give this place another chance. So maybe they’re still working out the kinks.

Order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Came for lunch on a Monday and they were empty, probably since they are newly opened. Their menu has a good variety of fried, grilled, and even tacos. There were 5 of us so we were able to sample each other’s dishes. The fried calamari was good but too heavily battered. The clam chowder was our favorite appetizer, it was very creamy but not too heavy. Poke didn’t look very fresh, but tasted ok. Most of our grilled fish dishes were overcooked. A good choice if you want something healthier for lunch. The down side is that portions are pretty small and can be pretty pricey.
