Good for and nice atmosphere I feel like the service is pretty good but the food is great with a great location I would definitely check them out.

I started coming here because it was the only place open late on Unilocal and I’ve been back quite a few times. The sushi part of the restaurant is closed Friday through Sunday but the Cajun Boiling Crab portion is open. Hours say the sushi portion closes at 11:00 pm but the owner may close shop before if work is slow. I always give a call beforehand now. These are all things I learned through experience. All in all, I love the owner and I love the fish. If you’re a down to earth person and don’t expect a classy Kushiyu/Sugarfish type feel walking into a sushi bar at 10 pm, you’re going to have a blast. He cracks jokes with customers and totally enjoys his job.

This is an authentic Japanese sushi bar I know the guy that owns it he also owned the karate studio that was there for a long time next-door… So if you want sushi done authentic done right Japanese-style he’s the guy to go to because he’s the main chef sushi master at this awesome ambient Japanese establishment I definitely recommend it you will not regret it!

We came here Sunday night expecting to order some late night sushi. Apparently they don’t serve sushi on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday… which confused us a lot since there was sushi in the name. I guess they only have boiling crab style foods on weekends. We told them that their Unilocal information was incorrect and the owner just laughed at us. Probably didn’t understand what we were trying to say. We were really disappointed and left. Luckily there was another sushi place nearby that was pretty darn good. Go to Kyoto Sushi instead.

Stumbled upon this place because me and my friend were studying and in need of a study break. Most of the sushi places were closed but I’m so happy I stumbled upon this place. Awesome service. The owner is seriously funny. The rolls are a bit on the pricey side but definitely worth it for the quality and size. Definitely worth it to come check this place out. It’s a hidden gem! AND they also have boiling crab stuff! Definitely coming back here

Service is extremely slow here. Ordered 2 orders of salmon sushi and one salmon skin hand roll. Waited over 20 minutes to find out they’re out of salmon.

Ew just ew, and for the love of God turn down your music. It was only us and one other group in here and I felt like I was front and center for Jesse Mraz. Seriously if you’re looking for late night sushi… just wait til the next day cause it is NOTWORTHIT. DONOTCOMEHERE. Seriously, listen to me. I wanted to run after I got my water but my boyfriend said it was too late since we had already ordered. The food did not change how I felt about this place ATALL.

This place has the worst service I’ve EVER experienced in a sushi restaurant!!! The chef served everyone else who came after me BEFOREME. 3 people came after me and I waited 40 minutes for my 9 pieces of nigiri. What the hell Is that?! And not only that, after I FINALLY got my order, the fish was utterly disgusting. He didn’t even give me what I asked for. I will not recommend this place to anyone. A zero rating from me chef whatever the f*** your name is a$$h0le!!!

Came here on a whim after checking Unilocal for a sushi place that was open at 10pm. Unsuspectingly, enjoyed my visit very much. The fish was fresh(loved the spicy tuna hand roll) and the service was great. Very friendly environment. Definitely would recommend.

Great sushi really fresh and open late! Chef is super friendly. Glad I came here the atmosphere is really cool too. There is also the boiling crab next door which is more of a party scene at night. Northridge needed something like this. Awesome

Please Unilocal, figure out a way to add less than one star as this place definitely earns it. I have NO idea how this place has even 3.5 stars. It was probably the worst dining experience I have had this decade. Where do we start… 1. This place is suffering an identity crisis. It can’t decide whether it is a sushi bar or a Cajun boiling crab knock off, and ends up failing miserably at both. The food is mediocre at best. The sushi NEEDS to be drenched in soy sauce to give it ANY flavor as the fish(albacore, red tuna and salmon) are neither fresh nor flavorful. As far as the boiled stuff, we ordered shrimp and king crab which tasted like Van Helsing’s final solution against the vampire hordes. Do yourself a favor and just suck on garlic all day and you’ll save the money it would take to eat here. We ordered gyoza which came out and after the first bite, so, etching was weird. Forget the fact that it was stuffed with some mystery items, there was no meat(which may have been forgivable,) but it was utterly flavorless. It didn’t help that when we asked for some tempura or ponzu sauce, we got neither but did get a hapless waiter who claimed«ponzu sauce is eel sauce…» 2. Atmosphere Like I said, this place has clinical multiple personality disorder, and you don’t need a degree in psychology(even though I have one) to recognize it. The front is a relatively regular sushi bar with a couple of seats but instead we were led in a tiki nightclub hell where you have to practically bend over the tables while sitting on hard wood benches fresh out of the Biergarten. To add to this is the full blown DJ setup playing a menagerie of 60’s/70’s music with a «modern laser light show»(the only thing dripping more than the sarcasm here is your tears from the garlic. I’m not kidding you. There is no dance floor and the owner would be better served just piping in KOST or AMP radio. 3. Service. I saved the best for last. So first we get sat right next to the speakers(in a basically completely empty dining room) with the music just loud enough to ensure you have to raise your voice just to have a conversation. The server asks one of us for our drink order(there were three of us) and then takes off before getting anyone else’s drinks. Don’t count on any refills unless you want to go serve yourself which I did have to do. The food is slow to come out, plates are on a «RSVP» basis(which I guess they didn’t) along with other accoutrements. The poor boy who was serving us just seemed utterly lost and not having the slightest clue about his menu or the items there. Don’t bother asking for anything beyond the paper half sheets, if you want to actually have an idea of what is in what roll, you are told to go back to the front of the restaurant to look at pictures… We were basically ignored unless we were able to grab the attention by yelling or physically grabbing the sole server or the(I am assuming, as I highly doubt any employee would ever be this arrogant or rude) owner. And that brings me to the end. The owner. When we complained about the gyoza, the waiter took it. The owner then walks up with loudly and rudely telling us that they make it vegetarian(I’ve never had vegetarian gyoza anywhere in my 10+ years of eating this item) and that we ordered it and we will pay for it. When we told him that we ate one of the 9 pieces and that we refuse to pay for it, he literally took the entire plate and aggressively flipped it upside down on the tray and stormed off, but not before we told him to cancel the remainder of our sushi order which was now over 45 minutes late. He actually wanted us to tell him what remained so he could bring it. We told m to just cancel it, and we would like our check. After an attempt at overcharging us, we left our cash and left. I HIGHLY suggest you do yourself a favor and just avoid this place like the plague. I can tolerate not so great service if the food is amazing, and even ok food if everything else is on point, but this place is just abysmal in all regards.

First time here and my friends and I were craving sushi, but right when we got here, we saw a sign that said, «Cajun Boiling Crab» outside. When we got seated, found out that this place was serving cajun boiling crab, shrimp, squid, fries, etc! The owner was super nice, helpful, and friendly! Great customer service :) He was telling us that next door, they were opening a new restaurant in a few weeks and nicely gave us a tour around the new place. So I ordered a pound of the cajun shrimp and cajun fries, and it was so delicious. I ordered the cajun to a medium, and it was spicy! But still great. There are three different type of fries for the cajun fries: there are potato wedges, jumbo fries, and regular fries. The owner suggested that the jumbo fries were much better because it’s mixed with cajun sauce, so I ordered that and I give it a two thumbs up. He gave us a side of the regular fries with cajun powder on it just to try it out, and the regular fries were good, but the jumbo fries were much better. Their cajun shrimp was so good. It had a lot of flavor and a nice kick to it. I have been to other cajun restaurants such as Crab Hut and Boiling Crab, but this place’s shrimp is HUGE. Not only that, but the cajun sauce mixed with the shrimp was delicious, and it wasn’t too oily like other places. Definitely recommend trying out their cajun menu and I’ll be coming back to eat back here.

What can I say. This guy is awesome !! He is crazy funny but in a great way ! Sushi is on point and the Cajun is freaking awesome and I will definitely be coming back soon. He is an entertaining person and seems likes a father making sure he doesn’t sell us bad fish(wouldn’t serve mackerel to us because of the radiation levels from japan). He made sure that we were happy and well fed and that we enjoyed our dinner ! Definitely will be back soon ! Alpha Psi Rho #79

What to say, what to say! Sushi stinks!!! Soooo soooo soooo many better places in the valley like kabuki sushi, katsuya or even dancing wasabi! Sushi doesn’t taste fresh seems like it sits for a while! All the sauces taste rotten! This owner his name james or master ma is not a real sushi chef he’s a old whack so called karate guy! Don’t even try this place its horrid! You’ll just be wasting your time and money! This place is not even in Porter Ranch, how don’t you know where your own restaurant is located! Also, How does this place have a Food Safety Rating of an A! Once again the owner/wannabe sushi chef probably paid off the food safety inspector. One more thing this guy needs to hire more help please stop being cheap! You are making money off sushi rolls that cost more than average!

The place is small and they are slow but my boyfriend and I thought it was worth it because the food was good and it was close to home. My experience tonight completely changed my mind and it’s going to take a lot for me to go back. On my way home I stopped by and asked to make an order for to go. The owner/chef made a loud groan and slammed a menu and pencil on the counter and said pick what you want. In response to his groan! the only other people in the restaurant asked him if he was to busy and he loudly responded with No, I don’t like to go. I was pretty upset by how rude he was but wrote down what I wanted to order and waited. And waited. And waited. He never came back for my order, so I left. I understand that it is difficult for him being the only person there but the place has never been busy when I’ve gone in and if he doesn’t want to make to go orders, he could politely refuse instead of being so rude. Again, the food is pretty good but I’d have to agree with other reviewers that it’s only the rolls that are good and not necessarily the sushi. But, they are extremely slow and unprofessional.

Don’t come here if you want a «quick» meal. Only one person making the food and one server. One server and One person making the food makes it extremely difficult to enjoy the food once its finally in front of you, because you end up waiting an hour to eat! My bf and I went here for a late dinner and we were ready to grub on good sushi. It took about an hour for me to get my order, while my bf got all his rolls and he was done eating. On top of that the sushi chef, which is also the owner, gave me a complimentary sushi dish since I was waiting for an hour and I was hungry and the look on my face was obvious. I got the complimentary dish before the food I ordered which irritated me more because all I wanted was my food! I love unagi and thats what I ordered but instead he gave me something spicy which I can’t handle any spice and I ended up waiting another 10 mins for him to make the actual food I ordered on top of the ten mins or so it took him to make the complimentary dish. If you ever go here, expect to wait! maybe you should eat a light snack before coming here! I will not be back again!
