This place is always a great choice. For lunch, I like the fried chicken breast, yams, and macaroni and cheese. For breakfast last time I tried their biscuits and tomato gravy with hash browns. This was great! Best sweet tea in town. Friendly service. Low prices.

Love this place! My husband and I go here every time we have the chance. Great Southern cooking. The best meat and three type restarts in the Tuscaloosa/Northport area!

If you’re new to the Tuscaloosa/Northport area and have never had a «meat/3» type of meal, then this is as good as any other place that offers the same. Both breakfast & lunch are good; try the fried bologna with eggs, you won’t be disappointed. I think most of the stuff comes out of a can but nonetheless, it’s still a tasty place for a good meal.

I have never eaten here for lunch but the breakfast is quite good. My eggs are always cooked to order and the biscuits and gravy are to die for! This place is cheaper than Waffle House and tastes 10x better!

Warning this place serves delicious southern cuisine which could result in you having to purchase larger pants! This place is small and it gets crowded! You will likely have a wait, there may or may not be the need for someone at your table to sit in your lap… A small price to pay for what you get. The food quality is good the portions are ample the service is friendly and attentive. When I am working in Tuscaloosa I always have lunch at City Café at least once… Usually way more than just the once!

Took a while go get an order, refills before food arrived had to be asked for. Waitress was unfriendly. Order was for scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, sausage and sausage gravy with biscuits. Eggs were overcooked with no cheese. When brought back eggs were still overcooked. The gravy had no sausage so when that was brought up they brought one(with attitude) with a broken up sausage on top of it, and left the check to insinuate they want us to leave. Very unfriendly! Poor service! Food unsat! Had to go to the front to ask for a to go box, and by time I was back she took my food. She wasn’t that quick with service!

One of the best restaurants we have ever eaten. Good homestyle food and very reasonably priced. Waitress was great. Off the beaten path but well worth the trip.

This joint is a Tuscaloosa must. Wether you’re going in with all the locals at 4am for an early morning breakfast or headed there for lunch with friends, it’s a great place to grab a bite. The food is what I would call good old fashioned southern cooking! Each day is different, so you may want to check the menu and choose a certain day if you’re an overly picky eater. But there is so much offered you’re bound to find something to try!

Excellent southern comfort food. As a first-time visitor to the area, it’s definitely not a place I would have found or gone to had I not been with locals. The menu changes daily, so if you have a favorite make sure they are serving it the day you are there. Yes the place is super cheap, considering the portion size and quality of the food. The ambiance is like that of a little deli or luncheonette, with booth-style seating. It is first come-first served on tables, so basically if it’s crowded(when I went it was VERY crowded) you walk in and get in whatever looks like a line and as you make your way to what you think is the front, you keep your eyes open for someone getting up, then you take their table. Service was quick and very friendly and the food was very tasty! I would recommend going early, like if you wake up early hitting it for lunch at 10:45/11am, when we got there at 1 it was super crowded. The older I get the less I enjoy being in mob scenes, so I would try to visit during off-hours. Also, you can really only sit together in groups of four, so if you come in a bigger group be prepared to be split up.

Best place for a good southern breakfast in the Tuscaloosa area. The food is very low price but does not lack quality and is delicious. Try to go when they first open, they fill up quick.

The best southern food place in Tuscaloosa. If you’re in T-town, don’t miss this place. Its cheap and good food, food that you can eat as much as you want and yet feel no guilt. The price is easy on your pocket and good for your body. The menu changes everyday(few items change actually) and they have great tasting veg and meat option. You can fill your stomach for under $ 5! They serve food with rolls and fresh made corn bread, ask your server for more if you like and they will serve you. The best corn bread can I vouch. Down side is, they are open only on weekday and from early morning till 3 pm and they don’t accept cards for below $ 5. They are so crowded during lunch, sometime you may have to wait to get a seat. But the wait is worth it at the end.

Yep. I will be back! There is nothing like a dive place that opens at 4am. The food is freshly made to order. I work midnight shift so this place is great for breakfast dinner The service is fast the food is very good and the service has always been worth that extra dollar. The best I had so far was the fried bologna egg and cheese with lettuce and tomato… Yummy!!! The bologna slice was huge! I was not impressed with the hash browns though… won’t order that again. I definitely suggest trying this place… seems like it’s a long time tradition for the community.

Shammy on the outside, shammy on the inside. Hygiene feels a little optional. Unless you’re local, someone from out of town intentionally searching for this restaurant, it’s very easy to miss. There’s not an obvious sign anywhere pointing to this location except for a long line of people lining up for a seemingly abandoned-looking lot. Once you’re inside, seat yourself and one of the waiters who look about as old as the restaurant does greets you like a customer they’ve seen since you were a baby. The hospitality is wonderful. Their menus are also hard to find. They look like sticky advertisement brochures but open them up to find breakfast on the right, and lunch menus all throughout the other panels. They serve breakfast all day so if you’re craving pancakes at 1:00PM, there’s no reason to not have that taken care of. The prices here are hilariously cheap for the amount of food you get in return. My wonderful boss treated me and another student to lunch and the total was less than $ 20 for a mountain of food enough to feed for at least 6. Their buttermilk biscuits are tasty. I try to err away from carbs but the few bites I had were great. They don’t hold back on how much they give you. I ordered the beef stew that was juicy and tender. When I noticed they had forgotten the spoon, my waitress came by and stuck the spoon in the stew without asking if I needed it or not. The string beans are fresh, salty, and soft. My only experience with string beans are the taste of aged metal from a can so I was taken aback when I couldn’t taste any aluminum. The stewed squash was delicious. I have a soft spot for warm, goopy vegetables. This customers are all regulars. You can tell that everyone who comes here has been here for years. The atmosphere is diner, classically Southern, friendly, warm atmosphere that you’ll be leaving with a smile. Just wash your hands afterwards.
