My first time to Avenue Pub did not disappoint. I will be going back soon Pros: easily one of the best/juiciest burgers in town, great fish and chips, helpful and friendly service, admirable rustic design and atmosphere, A couple of TVs that always have the game on Cons: smells like smoke, the fact that it is small and has great food can lead to longer wait times during the busy hours

The Avenue Pub is perhaps the best restaurant in Tuscaloosa. Knock on wood, I’ve never had a bad experience dining in or with carry-out. There are not many trips to The Avenue Pub that have disappointed me. The wait staff was friendly and sat us before the quoted wait time. The food is always the highest quality. The jalapeño cheese dip appetizer is delicious!!! The crunchy wonton chips are the perfectly compliment to the sweet heat of the cream cheese dip. I had the bacon burger as my entrée and smeared a little of the jalapeño cheese dip on the upper bun. The burger was cooked a perfect medium. My side of fries were perfectly seasoned. I love the ranch dressing available. It’s almost a peppercorn ranch. The Avenue Pub has been consistent since day one. I am yet to bring someone in from out-of-town who have not loved the dining options. As always, I’ll be back… probably sooner rather than later.

If you haven’t had the grilled pork chop dish for brunch at Avenue Pub you’re not living life to its fullest.

Great service, friendly bartender, and delicious food. Everything is heavier than it looks. I ordered the bacon burger from the brunch menu. It was so much food that I couldn’t finish the buns or even the bacon. I had to skip dinner that night because I could still feel my belly through my shirt. I love that they cooked it medium rare. The patty also falls apart into pieces when you try to cut it. The asparagus was salty, soft, and greasy. The Bloody Mary is really spicy. Ask for extra tomato juice if you can’t handle it. The bartender was super nice and offered to make another drink for me if I couldn’t handle any more. The interior is bright and lovely on a Sunday afternoon. The live music is just a the right level that you can drown your thoughts out to the music but not to the extent you have to shout to be heard.

Highly recommended! I went with a group of 3 male coworkers and myself. I had the parmesan chicken. The others atb the table had salmon and fish tacos. All raved about their choices. The craft beer selection is excellent. I also had a gin and cucumber drink that was refreshing and delicious! The environment was great. They had a singer/guitar player who provided great background music while allowing us to still talk. We left smelling a little smokey due to cigarette smoking but overall a great restaurant!

I went for my virginal visit to the Avenue Pub around 8:30pm on a Saturday night with my boyfriend. We were pleased that it wasn’t overly crowded at this time, but still populated. The atmosphere of this venue is very unique; I loved the dark undertones and lighting. There are two floors, with an open feel to the entire establishment. We had no wait, and service was very quick. The jalapeño cheese dip appetizer was fantastic. The pita chips paired with the dip were out of this world. For an entrée I got the chicken club and a side of a mixed green salad. All was fabulously delicious. My boyfriend got the fish and chips; he loved the fish, but because the fish came served on a bed of fries, the fries were a bit soggy. Each entrée was about $ 14. Definitely plan to come back here with my girlfriends sometime.

Best. Burgers. Ever. Pure buttery goodness that is so fresh you can taste it. Plus their salads of are awesome with very nicely made dressings. If you’re in Tuscaloosa and you go anywhere else you’re doing it wrong.

The food was delicious. The atmosphere is great. The staff & owners are friendly. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because they do not have hot tea.(And they were out of fish tacos — but we did Vidy during winter break). Great place to eat.

Excellent food. Great selection of beers and good service too. We were visiting town on our way to New Orleans and enjoyed a dinner here with our kids(ages 10 and 12). The food was terrific, especially the Thai Chicken Nachos. If you are trying to catch a game, this isn’t the best spot as there are only a couple of TV’s in here, but since it was during the holidays and school was out, we had no problem getting the channel changed so we could watch the game. The only caveat I have about the place is that it really smelled strongly of smoke. If that bothers you or members of your group, it might be worthwhile to try another place in the area as there are a lot of restaurants and bars right around there.

Wow! Everything looked so delicious on the menu and the restaurant had such great Unilocal reviews that I got really excited to try it. Alas, they don’t have high chairs or booster seats so my 20 month old daughter couldn’t enjoy it. What a shame, because my daughter loves restaurants and good food, like Restaurant R’evolution in NOLA. Why do I mention that place in this review you ask? Because it costs $ 150 per person… and has high chairs.

Yes! Menu is limited, but that’s not a bad thing. Local craft beers abound, good on tap selection. The Bacon burger is the bomb. Cooked perfectly, and very tasty. The jalapeño cheese dip was excellent but very spicy. Local acoustic music topped it off. Definitely one of our new top spots.

Saw the Unilocal reviews and came in before heading to a game after parking to the garage just across the way. The food here was REALLYREALLY good. I know I had the chicken club sandwich and we had a side of those chicken strip things. Oh my, really really good. The fries were even on point and I’m not even a fry guy. Nice beers on tap. I’m not from these parts so it was nice to have several local options to choose from and try. Great service here too. everyone was very friendly. It’s a great place to eat and suck down a cold one. To me it had more of a sit down vibe than a pub vibe to me if that makes any type of sense. I guess I was expecting a bigger bar area. but it’s a really nice place. Go here go here!(busy on game day but we were able to get a table no problem)

The Avenue Pub was great atmosphere, good food and good service. I really enjoyed their burger, tasty, juicy, paired with fresh cut fries. The server we had was fantastic. As skeptical as we were about her not writing orders down, she proved us wrong, and delivered the order exactly as requested. Best part was, we never went thirsty. She was great with refills. We remarked multiple times how great the décor to the restaurant was, and how cool it would be to have the big center circular lamp at home. Parking was a bit of a pain at lunch hour, and there can be significant waits for a table on busy days.

When it comes to food, service and atmosphere, The Avenue Pub hits all three. It’s my husband’s favorite restaurant in town. I always get the goat cheese salad, I’m a creature of habit. It’s amazing and always fresh. Kirk will generally mix it up, though he really likes to try whatever burger they are offering that night. Trying a new beer each time I have gone is another special treat. There are some locally made and others I had never heard of! But all end up being delicious and the waiters give good recommendations. I love getting to sit in the loft seating and overlook the restaurant. The place is well decorated and has a very open layout, making it a great location to catch up with friends or have a date night dinner! The service has always been friendly and prompt, never had a bad experience yet. So all in all, great food, great service and great atmosphere. It’s a must do dining experience if you are in Tuscaloosa.

So glad I got to try this place while in Tuscaloosa, and I will definitely return the next time I’m in town. Service was very friendly and prompt. Beer and cocktail list was a decent size and they do have happy hour. We tried the cheese dip with jalapeño, bacon and fresh made chips. This dip was really good! I just wish it was a little more spicy. We also had the fish n chips– these were really good and large pieces of beer battered Cod. Next time I will definitely try a burger, they looked amazing.

I was touring college campuses with my daughter and University of Alabama was on the list. There’s something about college campuses that can have that one special pub that can surprise you. This was it! Only about a mile off of campus on a side street filled with other restaurants and bars this little gem is tucked among them. Approaching the 2 story historic looking old red brick building we entered the green doors for a taste of pub faire. I went on the recommendations of a few Unilocalers and was very pleased. The rustic looking exposed red brick, glass, wood and iron was a chic and warm feel with the bar highlighted in the back of the bar. We were warmly welcomed by the hostess and she brought us to the open second floor so we got a nice view of the main floor and cool upstairs. We went to the restaurant around 4:30 so I ordered their Happy Hour burger and Loretta Lemonade(made with Maker’s Mark – my favorite). Dang! That Happy Hour burger was awesome! Super juicy but not greasy, cooked perfectly on a buttery soft hamburger bun with bacon and cheese and hand cut seasoned fries. And… it was only $ 5! I don’t know how they can keep people away with that quality and price. I’d be there all the time. My daughter got the buffalo sliders– 2 boneless chicken breasts on 2 fresh hamburger buns topped with a little blue cheese and a bucket of seasoned hand cut fries. The flavor was soooo good and not too spicy so you could really enjoy the flavor of the buffalo style. I mean, I like spicy but when it so spicy it ruins the actual flavor, then eating becomes a challenge rather then something to enjoy. The buffalo sliders are to be enjoyed. And they were. Oh, the Loretta Lemonade – so good I wish I had a second one. If you like bourbon and want to try something sweet but not too sweet — get the Loretta Lemonade. You can thank me later. Oh and it’s refreshing too. Our waitress was as pleasant as could be and very attentive but not invasive. Great service. Get to this pub and give it a whirl. It’s on my list for the next time I come thru Tuscaloosa!

Awesome place. They really upped the quality on bar food! The Chicken Bites are house made with a beer batter and served with two ourstanding sauces. The burger is one of the best I’ve had. A hand made patty with bacon, provalone, and L/T/O. Our visit was during a busy Saturday Brunch but service was fast and friendly. They have a smallish list of draft beers, mostly from around the area. Also, a nice craft cocktail list and brunch specials. I’d never been in this part of AL before but after coming to The Avenue Pub I’d love to make the trip again!

I enjoy coming to Avenue Pub for both the food and drink. I will say that, although the type of food they serve is not my favorite(think, upscale pub food) and, I think, might be priced a bit high, I like the atmosphere and the drink options. They’ve got a good selection of local beer on draft and also do a good job with cocktails. I’ve had several of their cocktail selections and have never been disappointed. My favorites are the Bloody Mary and the gin mill. I also think they’ve done a good job with their brunch menu… there’s more to offer than Five, down the street, for a better price. MTheir menu says that they have live music every Saturday from 12 – 4 and, although I’ve never been, I think that sounds pretty neat and I would certainly like to try it out sometime. My favorite menu items are the Spinach Salad for lunch and the Huevos Rancheros for brunch. There’s also a cheesy jalapeño dip that is out of this world. Definitely check it out!

Ate here with a few co-workers. I heard it was a good place to eat lunch at so decided to give it a chance. Pros: –The décor is amazing. The environment felt very relaxed and welcoming. –I got the bacon burger and it was amazing. I was so full from the burger that I couldn’t finish the fries. I will make sure to upload a picture of it. –Customer service is top notch. The waitresses were very friendly. Cons: –The only con I can think of is the smell of cigarette smoke coming from the bars next door. I know it’s nothing The Avenue Pub can do about it so it wasn’t a huge turn off.

I’m a fan of this new Tuscaloosa pub because it exudes great customer service, food, and drinks! The Avenue Pub also has a great casual vibe yet a polished interior with interesting metal work décor, local art, and breweries spotlighted on the wall. My favorite area is the upstairs dining space that overlooks the lower level. It has three large televisions for viewing sports and plenty of seating. The pub is a fabulous place to get a meal and drinks before an Alabama football game at Bryant-Denny Stadium. It is also a relaxing place to catch the game if you cannot secure game day tickets. My table enjoyed the following menu options and drinks: *Thai Chicken Nachos — The sweet, spicy, and tangy nachos came with grilled chicken, freshly fried chips, peanut and Sriracha sauce, and fresh green onions. *Pub Fries — We ordered the hand-cut fries without bacon and it came with mozzarella and parmesan cheese. *Parmesan Chicken — The plate came with parmesan breaded chicken on a bead of rice with grilled asparagus. *Fish Tacos — The plate came with two pan-seared Cod tacos topped with house-made tarter sauce, queso fresco, red onions, and cilantro. It was served with black beans and rice on the side. *Berry Bash Cocktail — This is a sinfully sweet but strong cocktail. It is served in a mason jar and comes with rum, freshly squeezed lime juice, blueberries, and strawberries. In my case, I substituted the strawberries with kiwi. Everything my table sampled was great and the attentive staff even chatted about local food and the bustling brewing scene in Tuscaloosa with me. I enjoyed my first visit and definitely plan to come back to this great little spot in T-Town!
