Love this place. They serve a made to order buffet. Everything comes hot and fresh to your table. Try the Habachi chicken. The sushi is outstanding. Good place to relax and talk with friend about different foods over lunch or dinner.

Rudest wait staff ever, why is the hostess serving food and making rude comments on what people order? Mind your business and stick to being a hostess. Also she was running around like a chicken with her head cut off, couldn’t keep orders straight and looked like she had a hard time doing two things at once.

Too pricey for what I for what I received. Yes I have been to other AYCE sushi restaurants and the service of this one doesn’t compare. It’s too big for its britches. The service lacked and my son ordered fries 3 times and it wasn’t until the 3rd time that he actually received it. Then atmosphere was obnoxiously loud without any sound barrier on the walls.

Awesome. Love the place. I will definitely come back. Service was swift and staff were friendly. The price was just right. They even have a beautiful and well maintained koi pond by the entrance. Speaking of koi pond, I noticed that people have been throwing coins in there. To all people reading this, please don’t do that. That is a koi pond, not a wishing well. Throwing dirty coins in their home? That’s just cruel.

I love going to sushi king to the my sushi fix. I recommend going during the dinner time because they have more on the menu versus lunch menu. They serve hibachi here as well. And I love the salad bar. Seaweed and crab kani salad. Mmmmmm. They also have regular salad as well as fresh cut fruit. Overall I recommend going here if you need that sushi fix! I forgot to post a pic because I tore into my sushi! Sorry!

For a made to order lunch buffet at $ 12.99, my friend and I enjoyed. We also got $ 1 off from Advantage Card discount! Tables and dining area were clean. There is room for improvement in bathroom cleanliness. Service was acceptable and kind. Our waters were filled with a smile! I’ll take that. We did notice employees were hovering or doing drive(walk) by’s…perhaps checking our plates to see if we’re wasting food. !? I have read reviews and experienced another location trying to charge me. This is why I typically DONOT come to these set ups. I can appreciate the policy & they have the right. However, I also believe they need to ease up & allow customers to peacefully enjoy their dining experience. It’s the cost of doing business. Leaving a couple of pieces of half eaten rolls should not be grounds to charge & be rude towards customers in any situation. They are your customers. Perhaps, Sushi King & their affiliates need to define clear expectations of exactly when they will enforce an additional charge. The policy currently in place is vague which could be why there are disgruntled customers. I would also remove the paragraph that instructs customers how to order and in what increments to order. Ridiculous. Sorry, didn’t get a picture of this. It should be short, to the point, & simply stated… example, if more than 12 pieces of sushi or a full plate of food is left, there will be an additional charge of $ 3. Period. That’s just my opinion. Overall, if you order and eat alllll of your food like a good little girl or boy, the price, quantity, and quality is acceptable & decent. I was surprised. IMO, the rice was good as well as the flavor. My fav was the Teriyaki Steak, Crab Rangoon & volcano roll. Not sure if I’d eat any of the raw fish from here again though. Not bad but, clearly not the best either. The soft serve ice cream was good. They also have a salad bar which I didn’t realize until we left.

Wanted to give a shout out to Sushi King, Little Creek. This is probably one of the best lunch deals in the area. They just completed a renovation(the place looks great) and added a salad and dessert bar to the AYCE sushi. Having lived in Japan for more than five years, my sushi snob levels are pretty high. That said, the sushi served at lunch is average to decent. I’ve had a lot worse, and I’ve had better. But it is served fresh(the tempura in my volcano roll was still hot), and *FAST*(my first two orders were already waiting for me by the time I came back from perusing the salad bar). To sum up my experience… miso soup, 2 volcano rolls, 2 orchard rolls, 1 sea angel roll, 1 white dragon roll, 1 crazy monkey roll(awesome!), 1 order of gyoza(also awesome), and 1 order of shumai plus unlimited salad, dessert and fountain drinks for $ 12. Not counting the 10% military discount, or the $ 5 gift card.(Which the gave me at the end of my meal last time I was here.) I walked away thinking, «Well played, bro… well played.» Update: So I checked my receipt, and founrain drinks are billed separately.($ 2.00)

Had lunch here with a bunch of folks from work and it hit the spot! We had a mix of palates from sushi novices/pregnant lady who can’t eat raw fish to a just-from-Japan ex patriot, and everyone walked away pretty happy. It’s not high brow sushi, but their special rolls are tasty(I love the crazy monkey rolls) and the basic nigiri is not bad. Did I mention it’s AYCE for less than $ 15. Winner.

Atmosphere is very aesthetically pleasing, makes for a food experience. Sushi quality is subpar, and the food isn’t necessarily authentic by any means. It’s also a little more expensive than most all you can eat sushi places. All in all, I would recommend it to a very hungry person. They bring the food out very quickly. Gluten free options are limited, but still present.

Because Rice King was taken? I wandered into this establishment for lunch, unfamiliar with its business model. Upon finding out that you pay a flat price for AYCE sushi, I should’ve walked out. As expected, the rolls were very mediocre. My appetite forced me to finish. The rice used is mushy, not at all prepared the way you become accustomed to if you’re used to dining in finer sushi restaurants. This is unfortunate since the rolls I sampled contained more rice than anything else – seaweed, lots of rice, a sliver of fish. Service was average, fast but otherwise nothing special.

Good service. And food makes it to your table very fast. Not nearly as nice as their other locations but still the same all you can eat sushi. The sushi itself is nothing to brag about. Average sushi. But you can’t beat the all you can eat price!(Even though it seems like they keep raising the price). Especially since sushi can be very pricey if you go anywhere else. I recommend the avocado salad if you go to any sushi king. My wife and I usually order about five of these each in one sitting! Also try the teriyaki steak! Very tasty and tender!

I really like this place for large amounts of OK sushi and hibachi. They don’t put a lot of fish in the sushi-the hibachi is pretty good though. I have to order Nigiri to go along with my rolls in order to get the same amount of fish as other places-but other than that a perfectly acceptable place and a better deal for lunch rather than dinner.

First time at Sushi King, I am not a fan of buffet but I though I tried it. It is a little pricey specially if you don’t eat a lot.(17.99 Sunday’s) But also its not a typical buffet, you get a menu and order from it, and it’s brought to your table. Everything I tried was amazing!!! Starting with the service! Juli was my waitress and everything she suggested was delicious!!! Presentation was also great! Def coming back!

My friend referred me to this place. We went there after 12pm. It was a group of 5 people. My first impression was there got quite a bit of space the staff was friendly. Waitress was pretty quick to get our orders and remembered some of our orders from her memory. Finally we ordered but it seemed to take a long time for us to get our food and there probably around 8 – 10 tables filled out of 40. So the waiting time for food was longer than expected. Waitress never really checked up on us I had to get her attention as she was in her little group of waiters and waitresses conversing for quite some time. The soy sauce bottles were misleading. The green cap meant less salt and the red cap meant a normal one. But they had a red cap on a less salt bottle which is not right. My friends didn’t like that and I thought it was something so simple that why isn’t it fixed so I pointed out to them and she didn’t care enough to fix it. Our waitress just put it back with the rest of the stock pile. Another thing to put out was when they were finally passing out our food. One of my friends has bad memory on what she ordered. So she didn’t speak up right away but we remembered for her. The waiter and waitress said something to each other in their own language which meant to me that they didn’t want us to hear what they were saying and I found that rude on so many levels. My conclusion is that the food is above par for a buffet style place but why charge $ 0.50 per sashimi order if you’re are a buffet style place? Any thoughts on this? Food took a really long time to come out and waitress started to be very distant between check up times. The service was good at first but then started to decline in a rapid succession due to the experiences they gave us. I have 2 stars because food was above par and service wasn’t the best on so many levels

I will start by saying we are used to the sushi king on centerville. With this review I will list the pros and cons of our visit. Pros: At least I know they are bilingual because the signs handwritten and taped on their kitchen doors are in spanish to enter and exit. The teriyaki chicken and rice was good, although their onions were undercooked. The hibachi was good, could have used more mushrooms. For the price, its sushi. But with AYCE you cant expect the best. Cons: Although the the prices are the same and this location has a better appearance inside, the customer service is much worse. Our waters went dry a few times and we dont drain our water quickly. We had to ASK for the water. We asked for soy sauce and it never arrived. The manager stood at the enterance and stared at our table, a little creepy. If I can upload it, I took a picture. The crab salad was good but they filled it with tons of crunch so they didnt have to provide ad much imitation crab. We asked for cream cheese added and they wanted to charge us $ 1 per roll. Ive made my own sushi, it takes less than 1⁄32 a block to put that in there. A block is $ 1 – 1.50… The crab rangoon was good but the sweet chili sauce that came with it was the cheap syrupy stuff. The wasabi was crusty and dry as if it was sitting out not covered for days. The sushi was good but the fish roe had an after taste(almost rusty like blood.) The red snapper left a metallic flavor, idk what that means but is it sushi grade? The phili roll has salmon in it. Salmon should be a bright orange with white stripes. HOWEVER as depicted the salmon in that roll is red and pinkish. I think what I’m trying to say is stay away from the raw stuff here. Overall I will never go back. Even for AYCE their sushi was questionable. Their kitchen food was ok. We didn’t have issues with too much rice like some have AYCE do.

So, I realize lots of people have put 4&5 stars so I will explain why I’m on the fence. Let’s start with the positives — the hostess greeted and seated us very quickly. It wasn’t too busy — we went on a Saturday evening around 7:30PM. We loved the miso soup, crab rangoon, and kani salad. Someone had posted they do not take«special» orders but I asked for spicy kani salad and it was no problem. I like their Hawaiian roll — consistently this is a decent roll. The volcano roll was good — it was missing something but I can’t put my finger on it. I had another roll — the name escapes me — with salmon and avocado on top — that was decent. Our server noticed our table was wobbly and she quickly fixed it — I didn’t even ask. She noticed it and boom — taken care of. I thought that was a nice touch. We also received refills on our drinks without having to ask which is always a plus. Dessert — yummy ice cream. My issue is that the queen roll was just odd. It has a shrimp mix on top and also a crab mix in the middle. Too.much.mix. No sauce was over it — and it was hard to swallow as it was super dry. My daughter and I ate every bit of our appetizers however the only roll she could not stomach to finish was that Queen roll. Not because she was full — but because it was so dry she couldn’t get it down. So, with that being said, we managed to get it from 6 pcs down to 3. Server took our bill, charged me normal price but made a comment asking my daughter to finish more so ‘no waste’. It’s often difficult in places like this to explain that the food is lackluster and have them understand. Either way — it would’ve been wasted. So instead we simply didn’t order more and we left. They really need to remove that roll or fix it. I posted a picture of it. After one bite of it, it made me not want to eat anymore of anything. Now I’ve had some fantastic sushi all over Hampton Roads. Maybe some others quite haven’t so they think this is just incredibly awesome. For $ 15.99 I mean you can’t beat the grub and I’m sure the military guys love it being so close to the base — you can seriously get a grub on. But, while it may be pretty — it’s a bit mediocre and lackluster. I realize in our parts of OV and this area in Norfolk there’s not a lot to choose from. But if you drive 15 – 20 minutes(assuming you’re not on a lunch hour timetable), there’s a TON of fantastic places. We will try it again but just going to steer clear of that roll. It kinda ruined our appetite trying to eat it and then when the server said something, my Italian side was about to wreck it even more.

Sushi King and I have a very strange semi-committed relationship. On the one hand, I love and appreciate this place –while simultaneously loathing it. Let me show my work. I’ve been working at the Wells Fargo down the street for a little over a year and have always been disappointed with the food selection for my lunch breaks. Seriously, every day I ate at either Nawab or Jessy’s. So, when a large sign came up saying«Sushi King Coming Soon» … I flipped my freakin’ gourd. Finally, something new. The sushi here is mediocre for lunch. The selection of nigiri is pretty sparse: tamago, salmon, tuna, etc.(the usual run-of-the-mill raw fishies). Their clear soup here completely trumps their miso soup, which is a big win for me. The house salad is watery, while the kani salad is pretty solid. The rolls here are, also, a hit or miss(they do not let you half-order or sub out). I’m what I call«an advanced sashimi girl». Which is why a place like Sakura in VB really does it for me, versus a place like Sushi King which charges 50¢ per slab of raw Nemo. To put it bluntly, I can«deal» with this place for lunch. It gives me just what I need and nothing more. So, why four stars? I put off writing this review for quite a bit. For awhile, I was firmly locked in at three stars for this joint. However, over time this place has really gained a secure place in my heart for reliable lunch runs. I have a pretty solid rapport with one of their servers, Michelle. She’s is excellent –hands down, my favorite server at an AYCE place ever. She knows exactly what I want, how I want it, respects the fact that I need to eat quickly, and always grabs me a to-go Dr. Pepper before I leave without me asking for it. She really broke the ice that once separated Sushi King and I. The décor in here is a bit«Tokyo Drift» for my taste buds, locking it in as a place that I would not viably take a date to or really consider compatible to the area. Food-wise, I really feel that this place is subpar. Décor-wise, eh. Service-wise, stellar. I will continue on with my tumultuous relationship with Sushi King because I believe that, like many relationships, we can work through our issues. One-thumb up, Sushi King.
