A local grocery store I frequently visit. I know a lot of people have given this place negative reviews, but my personal experience has been generally good. Not the greatest food supermarket in Norfolk I’ve been to, but the building is clean and the selection is decent. I think the place is understaffed and could use more open cash registers — especially around payday — but that’s not a problem unique to this Food Lion. Has some excellent price deals if you drop in at the right time.

I was surprised by all of the negative reviews of this Food Lion. It’s the closest one to my house & I frequent it weekly. It’s also right down from our gym, so it’s super convenient. The staff is always super friendly to my boyfriend & I, even joking with us while in line. The shelves are always stocked & I’ve never had a problem finding anything. The other night my boyfriend was looking for queso & he said one of the employees walked around the entire store with him looking for it. Turns out they were out from the Super Bowl the night before, and it was back the next night we went in. I even went the night of the snowstorm, & though the lines were longer than normal I was out fairly quick. I definitely miss my old Shore Dr Food Lion with the make your own 6 pack & seafood, but this one does the trick for basic grocery shopping.

This is our«neighborhood» grocery store, meaning it’s the closest one to our house but I usually drive the extra 5 minutes and go to Kroger down the road. The employees are like zombies, the produce section is lacking(and that’s being generous), and there are usually only one, maybe two lanes open for checkout. There will ALWAYS be at least one employee outside smoking a cigarette… right outside the door. GAG me! Not to mention how unprofessional it is. I sent my husband here one night on his way home from work and it was 10:55pm. Their posted hours say 7am-11pm, yet at 10:55pm the doors were locked. He said that he saw employees inside, but that no one would come unlock the door. This alone gives this place a one star rating.

Customer service is a joke in this place. Would rather grocery shop at 7 – 11.Brought back a receipt with a $ 1 mistake on it and received no satisfaction at all. Why have an employee at customer service that could care less.

The flea market of Food Lions. — Expired food. — Cashiers who tell you how tired and exhausted they are. — Hamburger buns from their bakery that our 11 year old refused to eat. — Last remodeled during the Nixon Administration. — Poor selection of produce. — AVOIDDURINGTHEFIRSTOFMONTH — that is when everyone on food stamps is shopping and the lines are long.

I had been flying all day from San Diego, and stopped into this Food Lion for a six pack of beer. I like Long Hammer IPA, so I grabbed one. Later when I tasted it, i thought it was a bit skunky. Sure enough, the«best used» date had passed over a month ago. Any store that sells old beer is a loser in my book.
