K&M Bagels & Deli

Very limited choices to eat breakfast in the area so I can’t say I wouldn’t go back but it has some issues. First and foremost complaint — the bathroom was absolutely disgusting — worst I have ever seen in a food establishment. Paper towel dispenser was literally smashed broken hanging from wall — completely empty. Below it was a garbage can (I assume) completely overflowing with dirty paper towels. I say assume because the pile was so large I couldn’t even see the can. Hand soap at the sink? Of course not. Oddly the front of the shop seemed reasonably clean and well staffed by friendly people. It seemed they were oblivious to the state of the bathroom — as if no one had bothered to check it out or if they did — to care about its state — in quite some time. And if they had used it… how did they wash their hands with no soap?
On the way out it occurred to me that the bathroom may be shared with the bar next door. So perhaps it was some drunken bar patrons that trashed it the night before. But if that happens — even more reason to check it out in Sunday morning before opening the bagel shop! And at least ensure there is soap for employees to wash their hands.
Obviously a minor point relative to the bathroom but we all ordered egg and cheese on bagel. A pretty basic staple for a bagel place. But we asked for scrambled and they gave us all Fried. Worse, the cheese was literally a cold slab of American cheese slapped on the cold bagel — not toasted and cheese not cooked with the egg or melted at all. Bagels themselves were not great — too bready.
