Seriously?! We decided to try this place after seeing the reviews and wanting some real decent Italian food. Well… I’ll say the appetizers were decent we had mozzarella sticks and bruschetta the bruschetta had a bit too much vinegar for my tasting but was passable. The house salad had zero taste and loaded with vinegar as well, the garlic knots were pretty good the only thing I really enjoyed. So here’s the kicker I ordered chicken parm and asked for extremely light sauce and hubs ordered fettuccine Alfredo well dinner came out and I was stunned to see my chicken parm and pasta swimming in sauce and when we told our waitress that this was too much sauce she took the plate away, so hubs tried his dinner and to his disgust the pasta was over cooked and the Alfredo sauce was more like a water sauce so we sat there waiting for our waitress after 15 minutes we flag down another and my hubs told them now about his food and also asked where our waitress was– ha she quit on us because I returned my food!!! Well needless to say we will not be back, we usually go back if we do not enjoy a place the 1st time but just can’t here. Very unprofessional– should have been assigned a new waitress immediately and should have had management come and ask what had happened.

Ok, we went, we ate, we were STUFFED to the gills and had PLENTY to take home!!! The food was EXCELLENT! The service, JUSTASGOOD!!! Pleasent atmosphere, nice place to eat & relax! The ONLY negative was(it WAS restaurant week) is that they were out of the«fried calamari appetizer» on the night that we went! I had the DELIZIEDELMARE, consisting of P.E.I. mussels(tender & juicy), jumbo gulf shrimps, calamari, & clams in a fresh basil marinara sauce! My wife had the GAMBARIALLAPARMIGIANA, jumbo gulf shrimp in pomidoro sauce and melted mozzarell, baked in the oven! Both dishes along with the OUTSTANDING garlic rolls were NY style ALL the way!!! Thank you Tuscany of Newport News!!! Cya again & I will NOT«fuggedaboutit» Mike & Mary-Lu, transplanted New Yorker’s to V.B. &LOVING it!!! (ESPECIALLY the past few days)

I am sad to give this restaurant a negative review because in the past it was one of my favorites. I ate there last Wednesday evening around 8PM. When I arrived, there was a woman sitting on the bench. I asked if there was a wait and she said no, she was waiting on her husband. I asked them how the food was and they both said they were NOT happy with their meals. I didn’t think much of it because some folks are super picky, but I am not. I had to peek around the corner twice before the hostess noticed me. I noticed she didn’t have on shoes but was wearing socks with slides(a type of slide on rubber sandalwood). I placed my order, my veal dish was not very good. It came with a slice of cold mozzarella on top. There was an «off» flavor that I couldn’t determine if it came from the meat or sauce but I ate it anyway. That was a mistake! I had stomach issues for two days after that. The house Merlot was excellent, the portions were generous and the waitress was very good. Maybe this is a new cook? Not sure if I will be back yet or not. I’m all for second chances but my last bill was almost $ 30 for a stomach ache.

Having our Christmas party here. The bread is to die for because it has the correct amount of garlic and butter. I am having the eggplant parmesan. The pasta is thoroughly cooked. Oh and the cook used real tomato paste and not the store bought sauce. The eggplant taste better than the pasta. This dish tastes scrumptious. The proportion is of big size, probably not good if you did not bring an appetite with you. Nonetheless, tasting the food is still delightful to the taste buds. The wait staff is accommodating. They cleared the table in a timely fashion before the next entrée. It is also nice to know that they are interested in your experience while eating at the restaurant. This place is definitely a place that I will visit again. M.

I give my salad a 5k star and everything else a solid 4. I am seriously going to come back here for their salad… Anyway, this place hangs out in the back side of shopping strip behind the Hooters on Jefferson. It’s nice inside, though the décor is a little dated(like Grandma’s house). My friend was happy to find a good selection of real Italian beers at a reasonable price. We ordered the caprese salad, which was quite large for two people to have an an appetizer. Probably why it’s on the dinner salad menu, what do we know. It was mostly delicious, even the olives; I would have liked for the tomatoes to be a little fresher though. They were a bit on the not-quite-ripe side. The entrees we ordered both came with a salad. I didn’t know they were going to bring out one of those massive bowls(like Olive Garden). I really hate to besmirch Tuscany’s name in anyway with OG’s bagged barf pasta… but, it was a big bowl to share and that’s the merest similarity. This salad was AMAZING. How can you rave about a salad?! Because it was sparkling fresh lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, and the best damn Italian dressing I have EVER had. I don’t know what mysterious or homely ingredients went in that oil mix, but it was rapturous. You can’t tell from the picture but I ate that WHOLEBOWL of salad. My friend didn’t want any salad. I tried it, it was the shit, and I ate it all! Salad goes bad and I didn’t care about my dinner at all. My chicken Parmesan was good, but I took home nearly all of it. I liked it, but the sauce had water in it that separated on the plate and made the breading on the chicken soggy on the bottom. Tasted great, but that was the only issue.

Terrible service. Salmon was uncooked in the middle so I had to send it back. Guess what, they put it in the microwave and it got really really dry and old.

I adored this restaurant. Tonight made me not want to go back again EVER. My neighbor and I went for dinner and requested the«Two for $ 25» meal. The server bought us the menu and took our order. I also ordered a dish of sautee’d vegetables, which I had to ask for and that didn’t show up until I was nearly finished with my entrée. The vegetables were not the beautifully flavored sautee’d vegetables I ordered on my last visit, but had been microwaved and dumped out of a bag. I sent them back. They still charged us for them. Not only did they charge us for said vegetables, but the server explained that since we did not order the appetizer, she entered the meals as full portions and not the two meals for $ 25, which were actually lunch portions. After a half carafe of wine and dessert, our meal was actually $ 75. They’ve lost our business.

Tuscany is hidden away in a strip mall. It’s neighbors are«Asian Massage» and Hooters, so I’ve never been sure what to expect from this little Italian restaurant. We visited for lunch because I had a voucher that I found out when we sat down was no longer honored anyway. Usually something like that would sour my mood, but the service and authentic Italian food kept my spirits up. I ordered a chicken & avocado panini. It came out hot with big pieces of grilled chicken and strips of bacon. It came with homemade potato chips that tasted delicious. In addition to my sandwich, I filled up on the garlic knots. Maybe they were a tad dry and could’ve used a side of marinara, but I can’t complain too much — they were free and plentiful. My daughter had the Tortelloni Fiorentina. If Chef Gordon Ramsey was there, we would’ve bemoaned, with his British wit and charm, the giant portion sizes. Overall, not a bad spot. Tuscany is in the high echelon of all the«authentic» Italian restaurants on the Peninsula. Better than Olive Garden and Vancostas for sure.

The worst customer service every. The waiter charged me $ 2 for cucumbers for my water w/o telling me and my pasta was very watery. I will never eat here again. Food overpriced and they don’t practice customer service at all.

Well the reason I give them a Three star rating is because: 1.Service was mediocre 2.Pasta was very well done 3.Garlic knots overly hard Pretty much I liked the main entrée but for the price you pay for it not the best value. I love the atmosphere, excellent for a middle class date but I would be willing to go back with a group of friends to celebrate something as long as I don’t have to pay for it.

Tried it because we had a Groupon and we were pleasantly surprised. The portions are enormous and very good. I only gave it 3 stars because I do wish the garlic knots had more garlic and herbs and that the grated cheese was real parmesan. Its that kind of powder that comes out of a shaker. The staff also stood around near the bar chatting and bickering and felt a bit like they were hovering and watching us. I think with some adjustments, this place can be considered really good quality Italian food. The Frutti Del Mar was plated beautifully and the Sangria is pretty delicious. We will definitely return because its near to my house, but I prefer the Vineyards over this place when it comes to Italian food done right. The Vineyards just has the right touches to make it more authentic.

Another lunch another visit to Tuscany Ristorante Italiano in Newport News, VA. This was one of my deceased mother’s favorite Italian spots and continues to be the go-to for my sister and father. This time I went as the guest of my father who just happened to have a Groupon which needed to be used — And use it we did. We both love the Frutti Del Mar, which is seafood(shrimp, mussels, clams, scallops) in a red sauce which we ordered over Angel Hair pasta. Our waitress served our salads along with a basket of fresh garlic rolls which I just can’t resist they are so good. Both come with the meal at lunch and dinner. When our plates came to the table I was almost embarrassed by the sheer size of the portion. You’ll notice I said, «Almost». And it wasn’t just this dish, but every plate coming out of the kitchen was absolutely humongous! My father, famous for his hollow leg, cleaned his plate while I took enough home to have as dinner that night! I’ve eaten here a number of times over the years and have always had a great meal without any regrets no matter what menu item I have ordered. This time was no exception. It is a great, albeit small, Italian ristorante well worth trying if you have never been — You will definitely go back time and again. Just a humorous side note here about our«global village». Despite being an «Italian Ristorante», and the family which owns the restaurant is indeed Italian, the servers all seemed to be Eastern European and the kitchen comprised of Hispanics. No judgement here, just observation. Regardless of where these folks originate, they have come together in this one place as a cohesive group of food service professionals who put out a first rate product. I’ll be going back again soon to share another great meal with Mom.

We went to this restaurant for the first time on a Groupon, and we really loved it. Traditional italian dishes that delivered in taste and portion. I had a great veggie-chicken pasta in a garlic-olive oil sauce(see pic.) Hubby had a parmesan trio — chicken, shrimp and veal — and his was also delicious. Great breading on the meats and super flavorful sauce. Don’t be disappointed by the strip mall location, get inside and taste to food. Really wonderful!

Man! the food was amazing. I am not too much into pasta, but this dish(Farfalle del Toscano) was great. If you like creamy tomato taste and shrimps, go for it! A little pricey, but completely worth it. I’d been on that place just once, but every time I come back to the area I will try to stop by.

I have always thought highly of this place and have frequented it several times. Unfortunately it will be my last resort from here forward. The food is good. Decent portions. No complaints. The thing that gets me the most is the«split plate charge». We went to Tuscany looking for a quick bite to eat. I was starving and my pregnant wife was not. We decided to get a meal and«share» since she would only eat a couple of bites. We were surprised when the meal came out and it was on two dishes. I actually turned to my wife and said«that was nice of them.» We ordered a glass of wine and enjoyed the meal. When we received the check we noticed an additional $ 5.95 charge on top of the $ 17.95 meal. My argument is the fact that 1) we were not aware of this charge 2) $ 5.95 is ridiculous extra charge. I like how it’s just under $ 6 like its a deal. 3) The food is over priced anyways… Really… Another $ 5.95? We are not cheap by no means but this is principal. Please justify the $ 5.95. Does your dishwasher get paid $ 200 an hour?
