Very charming restaurant. The interior is nicely designed and decorated, Italian feel. The staff are nice and welcoming.
We came for dinner on a late Friday (?) night, and wow, it was full. We had made reservations for 2 and they seated us towards the back near the kitchen doors and restrooms. My main issue and grievance point was this. Although it’s relatively more private… I hated the table location could’ve probably asked to change tables, but circumstances with my companion didn’t give me a chance to. The noise and distractions from the kitchen and the server area and people going in and out of the bathroom… meh.
We received garlic knots, and I had seen other Unilocalers saying how good they were. however they were just hard and bland to me. Didn’t enjoy them at all. I ordered the Rollatine di Mellenzane Parmigiana, eggplant, basically and was okay with the dish. The eggplant was sliced thin and there was a lot of cheese.
Overall, the service was really nice, but the food was just okay. Might have to go back at lunch time and try something else.

We’ve been going here for years. Great food, very large portions, and very friendly service. We always wind up taking half home!!! Recommend reservations ant time you think it might be busy.

First time diner here and would not return. We had made a reservation for 8 and they did have a table ready for us. The water glasses were dirty. To the point food was stuck on them. A new waiter was assigned to our table. He was friendly but not knowledgeable. We would ask questions, he would reply he didn’t know yet not offer or return with the answer. Caesar salad was the worst I have ever had. Not sure what the dressing was made of. The tomato sauce just tasted if can tomato. No flavor and dishes were smothered in it. Service was slow.

I have to base my review off of food and service. To start off, service was horrible. Come to find out it was our waiter’s first night. We had a group of 6 people, and I do not believe they should have given him a table so large for his first night. He forgot half of our order, garlic knots and salad did not come until after we received our meal, and drinks were only refilled when we asked. The food was very good, and their housemade vinaigrette was good as well. We went on a Tuesday, and that is couple’s night. Portions are very large and I believe worth the money. We have to come back again and give it another try. I will update my review based off of my next visit, but the first impression was not a good one.

The food is ok but I can’t get over how they treat you I went in there for lunch one day just by myself and they look at me like I stole there cat to waste a table for just one person they made it very uncomfortable on another occasion somebody that came in which look fine they made it obvious that they thought he wasn’t dress right I am done with there snarky little attitude there are much better places with better food.

A great and tasty experience! We were welcomed and promptly sat (we had reservations). Our salad was delicious as were the fresh garlic knots. Everyone seemed to enjoy their entrees. My Chicken Piccata was absolutely delicious, the cream sauce was amazing and the portions are huge! Their menu had a wide variety of dishes and I can’t wait to go back and try more. I hear Tuesdays are couple’s night and Wednesdays are half off all appetizers! I think I’ve found my new favorite Italian restaurant!

We found this restaurant by searching Unilocal and are glad that we did. A nice variety of options on the menu and a clean, comfortable environment. Our service was a little slow but friendly. The salad was wonderful, as was the bread. The entrees were also very good and the portion sizes were very large. Sharing a meal/​splitting a plate is certainly an option since it’s so much food, but it will cost you an extra $ 5.

Our favorite Italian restaurant hands down! The food is consistently delicious and the service is excellent. Their pasta is fresh and there are dozens of excellent choices! Personally their vodka sauce is my favorite! Sharing that and some wine on the Tuesday night «couples special» is one of our favorite evenings out!

One of the best Italian restaurants in town. For all of you half-​tards that like Olive Garden so much, roll your fat arses into The Vineyards for some REAL Italian food!
Seriously, large portions and friendly service. The only downside so far is that they’re not open on Sundays.

Salad was fresh and standard iceberg lettuce with a few other touches. I got the salmon fettucine which was supposed to be a in a pink blush cream sauce. It was almost entirely olive oil and tomatoes, not sure what happened there, maybe drain the sun dried tomatoes before adding or add more cream? It was a bit oily, a shame because it could have been stellar. Im from Jersey so we know our pasta. Daughter had fettucine alfredo and it was decent. We will try again, hoping for a more improved version.

I don’t eat carbs that often but when I do this is the place I go to. I love small mom and pop restaurants. The food is amazing. You get a large portion for a reasonable price. The garlic knots are so good I want to slap my momma. My favorite dish is the Trietto Ala Vodka. If you are looking for good Italian this is the place.

We took our son here for his birthday. He wanted to try somewhere new. Two large salads were provided along with homemade garlic knots. The visit was worth it just for those knots. All 4 meals were met with rave reviews. I had the veal scaloppine served with pasta and a delicious white cream sauce. We will be back!

An at-​home atmosphere with HUGE portions that will make your mouth water when you think about them. The dishes here are phenomenal — I haven’t had this delicious or flavorful of Italian food in a VERY long time. Not expensive! Good wine selection, and TONS of pasta selections. You can’t go wrong! Will definitely be back.

Finally found a very reasonably priced and authentic Italian restaurant for lunch with my family. The garlic knots and the house salad were a nice way to start our meal. We had a spicy shrimp n scallop marinara fettuccine and a veal and mushroom Marsala linguini. The fettuccine sauce was appetizing though the pasta could be cooked slightly longer. The linguini was «al dente» and beautifully coated with the Marsala wine sauce. We ended our delightful lunch with the tradition cannoli. The whole meal costed only $ 30. Will be back with family again.

First off, I’ll just say, this place isn’t sexy. Don’t look for inventive combinations or splashy cocktails. Instead, it’s solid, homestyle Italian food, fills your belly, and makes you want to come back for more. The garlic knots are delicious little bites of goodness. I could make a meal of just those & their house salad.
They’re close, they’re consistent, prices are reasonable, and they take reservations. I like it!

Stopped in to eat with a small group on a Friday night. Definitely make a reservation as we waited over half an hour for a projected 15 min wait, although the hostess was very gracious and brought us water and garlic knots to munch on while waiting. That night there was a large wedding party being served off the main floor which really upped the wait time for servers to come around and assist the rest of the tables. It also created a huge wait on food, garlic knots, etc.
Once we were able to sit down and order, the free garlic knots were delicious. The salad tasted great. My group ate a variety of dishes and all were delicious. I cannot wait to return, but next time with a reservation!

The meals were pretty good for the price. the tastes are more of the same type you might find at a larger franchise type restaurant. overall i was satisfied and pleased with the service. recommend for a casual lunch and dinner.

An explosion of flavor took place tonight. Very pleased with this place… and my new fav italian in Newport News. I was late to meet friends. The front desk was a bit unorganized and less than thoughtful. Service started slow, about 10 min without a hello and drink served. However, once we met the server, things went up, quick.
Garlic Knots and Salads are served with meal, a healthy portion of both. Garlic knots were doughy, buttery, and full of garlic. Wonderful!!! Salad was fresh, a mix of iceburg and romaine, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, red onions– but soo good!
I had the Vodka Penne with Shrimp… OMG– I was so very very very amazing. I was so happy. It was full of sauce with onions, sun dried tomatoes, and some other great things. I wanted every bite. I needed it. I loved it.
My friends had a eggplant parm like dish served with spaghetti. Could have probably served two, very large portion. The other had bake ravoli. They had an equally tasteful experience. Actually, they live in Northern Va and came to Colonial Williamsburg– made the drive from CW just to have dinner at this place again!
Additionally, Tuesday nights apparently are «couples night.» A special for two for $ 30.00. Includes salad, bread, half caraf of wine, appetizer, two meals, and two desserts. It’s a great deal!
I wasn’t able to try the dessert, next time!!!
This is a definite must go!!! and go back, and go back. I am! Meet you there.
