No. Sorry locals, but no. This tastes like frozen pizza, possible worse. Im not a snob and don’t want butternut squash on my pizza. I just want a good slice of plain. This isn’t it. This might be the worst pizza I’ve ever tried to eat. I made it 2 bites in, waited till it was lukewarm to see if it would be better. Nope. The sauce is sugary sweet, the dough is stale tasting, not crispy in a good way but crispy in a stale way. The dough was wet and chewy — I think this is baked in a pan not in an oven. I honestly don’t understand how anyone could ever like this pizza. The 4+ stars baffle me.

I finally tried this place and I’m very impressed. I’m very picky with pizza and only like the best places. This is excellent pizza and is a must try. I will be a regular from here on out.

We’ve gotten Nick’s for the 28 years we’ve lived in the area, and it’s still the best. Just a nice old-style family-run pizza place. Like one of the other reviewers said, leave the pretentious pizza at some of the downtown places to the tourists. If you just want delicious pizza that is always high quality, go to Nick’s.

This place is the best. My grandparents live on Plum Island and they’ve been getting delivery from here for years. One of the first things I do when I visit is raid their fridge for Nick’s leftovers. A couple of weeks ago my grandfather had knee surgery and I wanted to send him a little care package with a Nick’s gift certificate. Frank and his team were amazing in coordinating over the phone and sending to me in San Francisco. Great food and even better people.

Nicks is awesome. I live in this town and I can tell you this is the best pizza in newburyport. Get the tray(large square) and customize it the way you like it. Great cheese & fresh toppings. This ain’t from the freezer. Crunchy crust and loaded with toppings.

Nick’s is the real deal! No BS! I have lived in NBPT for 32 years and have been a fan since year one. Nick’s is not the Fu Fu pizza you find on State street and Pleasant street. Leave that crap for the tourists. Visit Nick’s you will not be disappointed. BZ

The pizza was fresh out of the oven, which meant it was very hot. The space inside is very nice, more than you expect. There were about 8 – 9 tables with 4 seats each, which means it could hold a maximum of about 36 people. The pizza was a nice size, very filling with just 2 slices. After letting the pizza cool, the temps ture was perfect. Nicks also delivers in the Newburryport area, and are the 11 year winner of the«Best Pizza in Newburryport»

This place serves good pizza. Nick’s serves a tray of pizza that will feed four hungry people or give you plenty of leftovers for two people. I enjoy the sauce because it has a unique flavor that is both sweet and a hint of a little spice. The crust is also fantastic. I have enjoyed Nick’s pepperoni and sausage and onion pizzas. Both were fantastic each time we ordered them.

I moved to Massachusetts from Chicago about a year ago. Ever since, I have been searching for respectable pizza. North End in Boston? Meh. Literally, I was so disappointed with the pizza selection that I had begun(don’t judge me) ordering Domino’s. Suffice it to say that it was long overdue and hugely exciting to have stumbled upon Nick’s Pizza. I love every single thing about Nick’s… other than the fact that it is closed Mon-Wed. The pizza is phenomenal, the prices are reasonable and the staff are super friendly.(Frank, the owner, is Nick’s son.) To be clear, Nick’s is nothing like Chicago pizza. It is not deep dish, but it’s also not thin crust. It’s a nice slightly-less-thick Sicilian style.(I think that’s the best way to describe it.) When you call in an order, make sure you call a large a «tray». And don’t be surprised if they don’t take your name along with your order.(They’ve never messed mine up.) It’s just that local. One word of warning: no alcohol. OK by me because I do carryout, but folks looking for a dine-in experience with booze will be disappointed. Can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Six years after moving to Newburyport I finally order a «tray of cheese» to go. How I lasted so long without it is a mystery, soon to be remedied by repeat orders. The sauce is sweet, the dough doesn’t taste doughy, and the cheese has the right consistency. I’ll experiment with toppings later, along with trying their medium gluten-free dough, but for now I’m a fan.

You simply cannot go wrong with pizza from Nick’s. It’s been our family’s favorite pizza place for decades. The prices are incredibly reasonable and the pizza is just yummy! They don’t sell pizza by the slice. It’s made fresh to order though. From a small 8″(4 small slices), medium(6 small slices) or a tray(8 substantial square slices) and dozens of toppings to choose from. My favorites are their cheese pizza or sausage. Seriously good! They offer delivery these days which is handy for those whoaren’t within walking distance as there is almost no parking. If you’re new to Newburyport or just passing through and looking to grab lunch/dinner, you should definitely give them a try! :)

Mediocre pizza. When I used my debit card to pay, I was told I would incur a 3% fee. Someone out back(or maybe the owner) asked if I had any cash, and proceeded to make me feel bad for using a debit card. They should have probably stayed a cash only business. Will not return!

Coming to this pizza joint is one of the most fondest memories of my childhood. The reviews are right; the place has not changed in 50 years. The booths are stained, the jukebox is full of Chubby Checker and Lil Richard and the«Squirt» soda sign has been in the window for as long as I can remember. It is GLORIOUS. The only thing that has changed is the pizza boxes. Remember the brown rectangle cardboard boxes with the hole poked in the top to vent the steam? For the past 25 years of my life I’ve had the cheese pizza. Yes, just cheese. Nothing else. The parking is not for the faint of heart. It’s down right scary, especially in the winter. Be prepared to pull up, open your car door and GTFO and RUN! Is this pizza worth risking your life for? In short, yes. Screw all the new Newburyport yuppie fucks that think this pizza blows. You can go to hell, cuz this is a locals joint, yo! If you weren’t born and raised here, you won’t get it. Go to the Upper Crust where you belong.

I’m really not all that picky with my pizza, and usually enjoy something different. But I found Nick’s Pizza to be different in a bad way. It’s rectangular pizza, and there is nothing at all wrong with rectangular pizza. But pretty much everything about the pizza was subpar: 1) The crust was the worst. It was soft and tasted like flour. 2) There was a minimal amount of cheese and it had very little flavor. 3) The sauce was probably the best part. Good in a slightly sweet way. Maybe I would have been happier with a cheese pizza, because the two specialty pizzas I got were pretty bad. The BBQ chicken was smothered in a sickly sugary, fake tasting BBQ sauce and the chicken … I swear the chicken was straight from a can. The Hawaiian pizza wasn’t much better.

Quite simply the best pizza in town. If you are a pepperoni fan you will find no better anywhere on the North Shore. It’s a secret to most except Newburyport lifers and those lucky enough to have stumbled upon it by accident. Take-out can be a chore as finding a parking space typically involves pulling up onto the sidewalk, but as they now deliver this is less of an issue. The only fault I can point out is they do not take credit cards, so have your cash ready.

We migrated to Nick’s after years of frequenting another pizza establishment. The mildly sweet sauce sneaks up on you. The pizza is always consistent, always hits the spot.

I would like to officially take back my statement that there aren’t any good pizza places in Newburyport. There is, in fact, an amazing pizza place unlike anything else I have ever tried in Newburyport, you just have to know where to look. Nick’s serves up interesting rectangular pizzas that are cooked for just the right amount of time. I love the mushroom pizza myself, and they always cook it so the cheese turns just a little bit browned on top(yum!). The crust is delicious and chewy. I just ate my last slice for breakfast and it’s just as good cold the next morning(if you can bring yourself to save some!) I did subtract 1 star for two reasons: 1. There is no parking and you are forced to pull your car up on the sidewalk and cross your fingers that no one comes too fast down the road and sideswipes you. It’s built into what appears to be more of an apartment building on the first floor, so it’s easy to drive right by. 2. It is a bit pricey – I pay $ 12.25 for the mushroom pizza. Now, it’s definitely worth that price, don’t get me wrong, but I haven’t paid over $ 10 for a pizza in a long time, so it was a bit of a surprise at first. That being said, I highly recommend Nick’s for take-out. They do deliver to get around the parking situation. I’ll be going here weekly, I’m sure(Yes, I may have a pizza problem, no, I don’t want to talk about it).
