I can’t believe I’ve never left a review. I’ll be brief. Best roast beef I’ve ever had anywhere. Blows Kelly’s out of the water. Also the small fry is ridiculously large. Enough to feed 4. My son has a soy allergy so can’t eat most places, here they use 100% canola. He can eat the fish, the fries and even the pizza!!! All soy free. We eat here at least once a week. I just wish they delivered!

Yum!!! We have been eating her for years and years! The food and sizes are great. The only down fall is: Because they serve great food they are always busy and parking runs out fast when the rush happens. Still worth the lack of parking !!

I got turkey, lettuce, and mayo on an onion roll, then added in a bag of chips. An 8 $ rip off! There were like 3 slices of turkey. Also there is no order in there. 2 people arrived after me and placed there order before I placed mine.

One of the best places for roast beef sandwiches and subs(Italian, chicken finger, whatever!) Great selection and always fresh ingredients. Whether ordering with co-workers or the family, I don’t think I’ve ever heard a complaint about this place. Not to mention they cater to the work crowd so you’ll always receive quick service. Give them a try. You won’t be sorry!

Super roast beef with small fry is very affordable and delicious here. Convenient location at the traffic circle in Newburyport — Route 1. Parking is limited but take out is available, along with an area inside to sit and eat. Order ahead and they make the food up for you to avoid waiting. Generally good food; have never had a bad experience here.

Best Steak Bomb I’ve ever had. Great food, great service, great prices. We got there at 2:00 on a Thursday, so lots of parking & light traffic at the rotary. The Courtyard was clean & tidy. Counter staff was pleasant. The meal was AWESOME! The steak was tender & no grizzle. The cheese & veggies complimented the sub well. The bread was exactly how I like it, crusty outside and fresh, soft inside. It held the sub together. Too many French fries for two people. I’ll be going back soon to try the Roast Beef.

The fried food is very good. The roast beef is very rare and delicious. The pizza is good. My only complaint is that the steak is Always really dry. If a family member wants a steak and cheese I have to get it at a different place. :(.

Filthy. Stopped for lunch and got a beef sandwich. The sandwich was fine, but not the environs. No tables were clean — every one had gunk on the surface. I happened to look down on the side of the booth and saw old tomatoes, napkins, french fries and who knows what else on the floor and in the space between the table and the wall. It was obvious that this debris was not from today. Clearly the area had not been cleaned in ages. Carpet dirty and worn. Owners need to understand that a clean eating area taints the perceived quality, and safety, of the prepared food. Will not go back.

I live in California and was in Newburyport a few months ago… Ahh… their Roast Beef Sandwich… How I miss it. I was there for a business trip a few months ago and my clients recommended that I try The Courtyard for lunch. I went there and ordered their roast beef sandwich and I gotta say… it was the best roast beef sandwich that I’ve ever had. On the last day of my trip, I even stopped by and picked up another roast beef sandwich for the plane ride home. A few months after that business trip to Newburyport, MA, I was in E Hartford, CT on another business trip. I was actually contemplating driving 2 hours over to Newburyport just to pick-up a roast beef sandwich for dinner. It was very tempting to drive 4 hours round trip for one of their RB sandwiches, but I just wasn’t able to get off work early enough to make it over there and be back by a reasonable time. Oh well. Very sad. I wish they would ship me a roast beef sandwich to California. I asked them when I was there before and they said they don’t do that… If they only would, I would gladly pay for the dry ice pack and shipping charge!

Quite frankly what the other reviewers say about the roast beef is true = delicious. If you love roast beef sandwiches, you’re going to have to really search to match the quality here. In terms of other food, their subs are average to small size, nothing to boast about. They do, however, use fresh ingredients(peppers, mushrooms, etc. aren’t canned). They have huge portions for fried food, the seafood, fries, and onion rings are really loaded on, so if you’re looking to eat quite a bit, those are your best options.

The roast beef sandwiches are to die for and the ham is very sweet. My family loves everything else they have on the menu as well, especially the seafood. Portions are huge and I love, love, love the onion rings. Also the cole slaw. My only complaint: their take-out menu flyer says they close an hour later than they actually do. We only discovered this after we spent the evening looking forward to a take-out bonanza. When we finally got around to putting in the order, they were closing! We were so disappointed! It’s still one of our favorite take-out places.

Simply put, the best damned beef on the North Shore. Tender, delicious, super thin sliced rare roast beef piled high. Do it with sauce and cheese and you’ll experience a little piece of heaven. The fries are the perfect addition and a small is the perfect size to split between two or three. One day, if I can stop ordering the beef for a moment, I might actually try some of the other menu items– they all look fantastic coming across the counter.

These guys are consistently good — we have been in for lunch and dinner several times. They are always friendly and the service is fast — makes it easy to say yes, let’s pick up some quick takeout there.

Roast Beef Heaven. The Roast Beef is slow cooked for hours. It is red, tender, and flavorful. The other food I haven’t tried, but, the roast beef is the big draw here and totally worth it. I get my roast beef sandwich with the BBQ sauce they make specially, pickles, onions, and mayo… throw some fries next to that and you’ve got beef gold! It’s always the same crew working down there so it’s consistently good, too… they run a tight ship… It’s so good you might get addicted.

In the mood for a clam strip roll? Then you need to stop by the Courtyard! Great tartar sauce(no onions!). I’ve been back several times and they fry with 0 trans fat oil! Serving is so big I make two meals out of it. My wife is a huge fan of the meatball sub, too.

hell, I’m gonna keep heaping praise on this place like they heap beautiful fried seafood on customers plates. I had a fish sandwich the other day. It was two big ass fresh haddock fillets on a nice bun. had a side order of slaw(HUGE portion!) it was great. and cheap. it places like this with no bullshit atmosphere and quality food that keep me living in New England.

Update… Ive gone a couple times since last review, its been much better. The quality has gone up a ton. RB has been great. Ive also had chicken salad and Italian grinders, both are above average. My last review was a little rough, but it is hard to go much higher with a sub shop.
