This place is amazing, not only is the staff supreme, the pizza us impeccable. My experience was amazing and the staff was entertaining! Highly recommend.

Went for the first time with my husband after being tired of other food options more towards the Hampton, Exeter area. They were fantastic! Everyone seemed super happy to be there and their pizza was amazing!!! I wish I had tried it before! We got a buffalo chicken pizza, cooked perfectly, the right amount of cheese and buffalo sauce ratio. Super cheap beer, I used to love flatbread but this place beats it by a mile

Very mixed feeling about my experience with this place. Was told I needed to get my order in promptly because they were closing up for the night. This bugged me because the time was a bit before 8:00, and their website read they would be open until 10:00 that day. I tried ordering a large pizza, but the kid behind the counter told me they were out of large dough for the day. I ordered two medium pizzas in place, and waited close to 30 minutes for my order to come out. Pizzas rang in on the order of $ 19.00, which I consider to be expensive. Workers were all what appeared to be high school and college kids, and acted very unprofessionally for most of the time I spent waiting. Seating is set up poorly, and leaves you very little room to comfortably sit while eating your meal. Pizza came out at odd times as compared to others waiting in the store. Pizza did taste good when it came out, but nothing that I would go out of my way to buy. Just a personal preference taste as thin crust pizza usually isn’t my thing. Easily would be a 4 star joint if they did some seat re-configuring and taught the monkeys behind the counter some manners. 3 Stars for now.

I’m not even sure where to start. The best thing about Anchor is the location. I think the best way to talk about it is with a list. So, let’s get started. I think this place is just gross. It was cold with inadequate heat. It wasn’t that crowded so I don’t think the front door was a factor. The pizza guy looked like he was wearing about 3 days worth of food or like he had just participated in a slaughter at the local factory farm. We placed our order and went upstairs where there is no loud rock music and a little bit of heat. Hint: play music for your customers, not yourselves. 45 minute wait for the pizza. The calzone and the small pizza arrived followed by the large pizza nearly 10 min later. Our table mates were half finished by the time we got ours. The large pizza was«wheat», and the crust was burned for which she made excuses. I didn’t want a confrontation so I just let it go. There is no excuse. The crust was burned. End of story. A 4 star pizza place. Uh, yeah. OK. I’m sure there is better in the area so we’ll be ever in the look out. In the meantime I suggest going elsewhere.

Don’t bother with delivery… it took an hour and a half to get here. An hour after I placed the order I called to check in and was told«the delivery guy already came and nobody answered the door or phone.» We never had a knock and the phone never rang. I was a little confused as to why they didn’t try to call me again once the driver got back to the store? So they sent the guy back to my place with the same pizza and wings that are now cold. Once the driver arrived I told him we never got a call or doorbell and he said he had done both and that my phone was giving him a busy signal… which is not true. I would recommend Ottos pizza

Such CRIPSYCRUST!!! Unbelievable pizza choices and make your own toppings. Sweet, savory, spicy. It was by happenstance that we came across this place and I’m so glad that we did. We ordered a large and ate it all. So worth it. You won’t be disappointed.

As a Newburyport resident this is my go-to for pizza. They have cheese and pepperoni slices everyday and then also have a monthly and daily specialty slice. Slices together with a rotating $ 3 pint makes for a quick and cheap dinner. There is additional seating upstairs which some patrons don’t realize. Favorite is the brown square which has bacon, chicken, BBQ sauce, and ranch dressing.

Ties with OTTO for best pizza in town. A little more traditional than OTTO in that most pizzas on the menu at Anchor have a red sauce and all are cooked in a wood-oven. Not to say Anchor isn’t creative! They are just more easily recognizable as a pizza place rather than a place where you get butternut-squash and apples on a pizza crust. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. This place has incredible thin crust — chewy and crunchy in all the right places, perfect home-made sauce, and delicious cheese. The wood oven really combines all of the above perfectly. If you want a pizza, go to Anchor, if you want something you’ve never tried before — go to OTTO. Either way, you’ll get a great meal. If you want to eat at the restaurant — Anchor is the way to go. Sit outside or in.

Best pizza that I have had in Massachusetts, possibly on the East Coast. No joke; if you like cracker crust this place is for you. Try the Sandy Point Pesto with a whole wheat crust or the Plum Island Margherita. I lived in NYC(had great pizza) went to Naples(sought out the best, and conquered multiple pies)… Anchor stacks up among the gods of pizza. This place kills it consistently. Do yourself a favor, try this place.

Thin crust with pepperoni and my bf got the special black olives and Jalapeño peppers — we both loved the pizza — now if only they had mixed drinks I’d be in heaven.

Yum Yum YUMMMM!!! This was our go to place when we were staying in the Essex Street Inn across the street for a wedding this past weekend. Amazing pizza, cheap beer prices on local micro brews. I wish I could go back for another round of pizza and beer!

Perfection by the slice. Great pizza, a nice place to grab a slice in a busy downtown area. The pizza is thin crust, very crispy. No chance you will get soggy pizza at this place. Order 1 slice to start they are large pieces. We tried the Slice of the Month, shrimp scampi and it was amazing. We also had a Slice of the Day, Veggie, also amazing. I grabbed a buy ten slices get one free reward punch card on the way out. I will be back to get my 11th slice free. This place is 5 stars as far as pizza by the slice goes.

Expensive but seriously good pizza. I could probably eat the pizza crust alone, it’s THAT delicious.

Went there at closing with a friend, BUT, they took good care of us anyway. Talk about going above and beyond, especially in this day and age where service pretty much stinks everywhere you go. The pizza was just a pepperoni pizza, but it was really good. Super tasty, not sweet, thin crust, lots of toppings. It really hit the spot where most pizza is missing it these days. Wow! I looked at the menu and noticed that they have a lot of really cool, very creative pizzas to choose from. Really creative. Everybody needs to try this place out — if you’re a pizza lover. I will definitely be back there again!

This is a very good mom n pop pizza joint. The garden salad of carrots, cucumber, mushroom, cherry tomatoes and cheese was very fresh. The Ranch dressing was a small packet of generic Kens Dressing. The pizza was fresh and hot. A single slice of Pepperoni. The crust was thin and crispy with a most delicious sauce topped with mozzarella cheese and pepperoni. The dining area is very small with a few tables. The service staff including the chefs are personable, efficient and friendly. Highly recommended

AMAZING! Not only is the pizza phenomenal(first time trying potato as a topping), but their beer prices are the best in town. $ 3 drafts of my absolute fav Newburyport Brewing? Yes Please! Let me also add I hosted a small get together and working with Joe to organize and plan was a breeze! We were able to listen to our own music, have our own space and pizzas were prompt and perfect every time. Absolutely look into their second floor for any small event needs. Thank you again Anchor Pizza for a perfect weekend!

Huge fan. I currently live in Bristol, RI and I love when I get to go «home» to Newburyport. Bristol doesn’t have much great pizza. This place is great! This is true thin crust pizza and I feel like they use quality ingredients. I got the mac and cheese and bacon slice of the month. Now normally when you think mac and cheese pizza, you think«oh god my stomach is going to implode». But Anchor Pizza did it very well, where you got the«mac and cheese» for the most part was in the cheese comb(they used gruyère and some others). There was some macaroni scattered sparsely, but it wasn’t overwhelming. And it was truly tasty. Another reason, I love this place is the fact that they have 5 beers on tap. Pizza and beer is one of my favorite combos. They have a fresh and local selection as well, which is great. The last reason that I want to state(and by no means is this the last reason this place is great), is that the location is fantastic, it is a great place to get lunch and it is reasonably priced. We got 3 slices and 2 beers for $ 19.00. Thats not bad for a lunch for two.

Small place with decent pizza. The place was packed when I went and there was not a lot of space to sit. I got a slice of the pizza of the day and a bottle of water for about $ 5. The pizza was not too greasy which was fantastic. The pizza of the day was zucchini and broccoli. If they have it again I would definitely get it again. I suggest getting takeout because the place is small. I think they deliver too. In the summer they have seating outside so that would be a good time to eat there rather than get takeout.

I would LOVE to give this place 4 stars — the pizza is FANTASTIC. The spinach bites are fantastic. Baked chicken wings juicy and plump. But I can’t get over how filthy the bathroom is, and the fact that they did not put out paper for drying your hands or other roll of toilet paper. Seriously. The door, walls and floor are pitiful. Crushed me. Why? Because the pizza is REALLYREALLYGOOD. Beer is flowing and cheap. If they could only clean the place just a tad more! I know its a tourist town, but the bathroom in particular was so unbecoming of the fantastic food. So if you must go… then feast and go somewhere else.

What a good little pizza joint! It’s basically a self-service place with a small seating area(extra seating upstairs) that sells yummy thin crust pies. The wings are baked(not fried) with salads on the menu too. I had the good olé fashioned pepperoni pizza and it was very good! The staff was friendly & efficient. Don’t expect a fine dining experience and that’s why it works so well. Get a slice & grab a craft beer(or wine) and be out the door in less than 30 minutes to enjoy Newburyport. I’ll be back!
