I’d give it five stars if it weren’t for the noisy kitchen and phone ringing constantly… Otherwise, everything else was spot-on. Great food, impeccable service. A nostalgic setting in an old house that was cozy, but a bit noisy. We’ll be back, as they certainly know how to cook.

Love this little pizza place. Food is always great. Can eat indoors or outdoors. Great for families. Definitely recommend.

The food was great, everyone ordered a different plate and was more than satisfied. The chef also prepared a dish that was not on the menu that was phenomenal. The down sides were that it was a little cramped, the lighting needed some work, and it was oddly quiet. The deserts were great and it was overall an amazing dining experience, 10⁄10 would recommend.

Upper Crust is a family style Italian Cuciana. The staff is warm & welcoming. They have an excellent wine menu. Try the eggplant pizza, it was delicious.

I was very excited to hear that a restaurant by me was named one of the best Italian places in CT. Although, I was very disappointed with the food and coffee when I got there. All the reviews I see here are about their pizzas or strombolis so maybe those are good. We ordered garlic bread to start off with. That was probably the best thing I had there. The garlic was fresh and the bread tasted like it was pizza dough. Then the meal came out. I ordered the puttanesca sauce on spaghetti because I’ve never had it before. I was kind of hoping capers would physically be in the dish because I love capers and my parents said capers are in puttanesca sauce. There were no capers. The dish was overloaded with onions and I was tasting onions in my mouth for days. It was disgusting. The pasta wasn’t even cooked right. That was a rookie move on their part. What Italian place can’t even cook pasta right? The pasta was clumped together and raw in one part and the other part was overcooked and mushy. They probably didn’t stir the pasta once dumping it into the water so it clumped, cooked it longer to compensate for their mistake, then served the half-raw half-overcooked pasta to me. I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to wait for another crappy dish to arrive. Having traveled to Italy a few times in my life, I can wholeheartedly say this was the worst prepared Italian dish I’ve had in America. I’d rather go to olive garden than come back here. We then ordered the espresso. We were told the milk frothing machine was broken so we couldn’t order cappuccinos. I had a black espresso. That was also the worst and most watered down espresso I’ve had from a restaurant. Not worth paying any money for. It was like the cheapest brand you get from the supermarket. Definitely not worth one of the best in CT. Or if it is one of the best, what does that say about the other restaurants that were awarded best? If you want real authentic Italian food, travel to Racci’s in Brewster, NY. They have made the best Italian food I’ve had in the western CT area, and they’re not even in CT. Spend the extra money and take a drive down there.

So far, The Upper Crust holds first place in my book for great pizza in the area. Have been here a few times and each time, the pizza is delicious. So are their appetizers(try the eggplant with the olive tapenade. Sooo good.). And the service is super friendly and attentive. They are baby-friendly as well. It’s a rustic, New England-type setting here – love sitting outside, in the front, where all the beautiful flowers are. Nothing like having your pizza in the sunshine.

The best pizza I’ve had near New Milford. Can’t comment on anything else, but the ambiance looks great, and if the menu is as good as the take out pizza, they’re worth a trip.

Ever walked into a restaurant and immediately felt so cozy and welcome it was like you were in a friends house? That’s the vibe I get at this old farmhouse-turned pizzeria. I stopped in a few weeks ago with a colleague for lunch on a really cold day and the fireplace hit the spot. Though pizza would have been a bit too heavy for me for lunch, the poached pear and prosciutto salad with roasted beets, toasted walnuts, gorgonzola and honey-sherry vinaigrette was delish! Can’t wait to come back and try the pizza!

Two story home made into an Italian Pizza restaurant. Pasta dishes are amazing and the fresh ciabatta went together amazingly well with the polenta appetizer served in a small sizzling caste iron frying pan– so cute and so delicious. Wine selection is decent and the service is steady and even despite how busy it gets. We were a large table and seated upstairs where things get pretty raucous but the tone eventually died down as the night progressed since most everyone that frequents UC eats on the early side.

We wound up here after an impromptu search for a new pizza place in Western CT. When driving up to the restaurant I thought I was pulling into someone’s house. The restaurant is pretty interesting and is in an old large house which has been nicely converted to a restaurant. We were seated upstairs next to a large group of teens(on some type of an outing) and mood was festive, we didn’t mind, but if you wanted quiet I would suggest staying downstairs. The hostess greeted us within seconds of entering into the restaurant and we were seated within a couple of minutes. The staff was attentive and generally quick(we did have to ask for our wine 3 times, but they were slammed at the time.) The cuisine is mostly Northern Italian and of course they have pizza. Overall the pizza was good, the crust wasn’t too remarkable however, it didn’t have much flavor to it. I don’t think I’ll get the pizza again. My wife had a normal non-pizza entrée(I can’t remember at this moment, but I did have some and it was excellent.). The wines by the glass were great and I tried a few of their special offerings. In summary, I would like to go back here and have a non-pizza dinner. I would definately recommend this place, the atmosphere is cozy and the look and feel of dining in the old house reminds me of some restaurants I visited in Europe that were converted from old homesteads.

Although I ordered the Stromboli, I would love to come back here for pizza! Upper crust provides a cute, homestyle environment, with a moderate to upscale interior. I can’t decide if it was just the autumn foliage, and leaves turning outside next to the raised patio of dining tables, or the seats on the grass with the canopy of trees that made it unlike any other«pizza joint» I’ve ever been to. This is most definitely not your average tacky slice of pizza place. I only saw one person on the waitstaff, but he greeted me immediately and offered me a drink while waiting for take out. I only take one star away because the dough on my Stromboli wasn’t completely cooked at the ends where the dough gets more thick. But judging by the pizzas I saw being delivered to the tables outside I would come back here for a casual date, lunch, or take out to try one of their pies — yummulicous. The silverware was clean on the tables and packed neatly in a cool design, complemented by infused oils on each table with crackable salt and pepper. I can tell that whoever the owner is takes pride in a clean restaurant, and maintains a theme!

Well first we walk in and i have my elderly parents with us. No one to greet us i look around see a waiter i ask him do we seat our self he shrugs his shoulders and looks around and i say to him is this table ok. He said that’s fine any table .Then he replays we are swamped it will be awhile, i look around theres three other couples are you kidding me. He takes the couples order behind us in the other room then walks to the bar area and stands there for about 4 minutes writing down there order or what ever .Then he starts putting glass away right in font of us. Then one of the other couples said excuse me where so ready to order. I looked at my family and said where out of here this isn’t going to work,. The one thing he could of done was at lease gave us menus to look at, what a joke.

stopped in while out driving around counrtyside. decided on Upper Crust as we came down rt 202, not dissapointed. my wife had the grilled vegatable salad(very good), i had a caesar salad(good, needed something). we ordered a carmelized onion and bacon pizza(build your own). it was very, very good. nice crust, not over cheesed. can’t judge service we were the only one there and well taken care of. a little pricey, but felt it was a good place to eat.

I don’t know what magical ingredients they put in their pizzas, but they’re absolutely to die for. Perhaps it’s the fact that I often come here after doing some local skiing, which never fails to leave me craving rich, hot food. My family and I have been going here for years and have never been disappointed. Also, it’s worth mentioning that although the ambiance feels upscale, they’re not the kind of people who will shoot you condescending looks if you show up with a knit hat and snow boots on. I prefer to look a bit more presentable than that, but sometimes it can’t be helped. Will it continue to be my favorite après-ski restaurant? I think so!

The good: the waitstaff is very nice and personable … also the food is good and wine selection is decent. The bad: the menu is small and repetitive so if you want to make it your weekly spot you might get bored. Overall great though !

If you live in the New Milford/Litchfield area you really should stop by! From the polenta to the pizza there is something for any taste bud. To be fair, because I live close typically I am a take out monger. The roasted pepper fla tbread, ask for them to add a little prosciutto and with a side arugula salad… oh yes. Quite a party for your mouth.

The place is excellent! I went with my husband and two daughters an had outstanding service! I ordered the vegetable lasagna. It was to die for. My husband ordered the duck and polenta special. It was also fantastic. My daughters enjoyed the pizza. They gobbled it all up. It was a terrific night out. Definitely a must go! The chef has also worked with Mario Batali! What else more can I say! Unilocal has that they do not accept credit cards but they do.

I love this restaurant and my wife and I have been going here for many years(since it started up). No restaurant is perfect including this one, but we’ve been to the Upper Crust enough to have experienced pretty much everything they have to offer in the way of food and service and for us, the aggregate experience keeps us going back. They have beer on tap which I appreciate in a small restaurant. They have inexpensive and unusual wines which my wife enjoys experimenting with. They have an excellent wilted spinach salad(you can split it as an appetizer) and while we don’t always have pizza there, we enjoy their caramelized onion, pepperoni pizza(ask for it, not always on menu). Almost all of the dishes they have are interesting and excellent. This is not the greatest restaurant on earth but for us, it’s the right mix of informality, consistency, good food, decent service, and not too pricey.
