Madeira Cafe

Ordered the cod fish balls, very small for price. Ordered the shrimp Mozambique very tasty asked if string beans were fresh and was told they were, not canned beans yuck! My husband ordered the steak, very good again asked if beets were fresh, they said yes, not they were canned. We went here for the second time because we enjoyed our first experience… need to be honest and serve fresh vegetables, will not go back.

Myself and my two boys went to try the Portuguese food that we had seen good reviews about. Very disappointing dining experience. We love Antonio’s in New Bedford and expected similar, we did not get it. The waitress was great but the food was not. I got he pork aletajana and was very very disappointed. It was very salty, had a few bites and was done with it. Son got the steak with fried egg. Ordered medium rare and got medium. This was also very salty. The bar is next to the dining areas and all we could hear was the F_​_​_​word. Will not go back and would not recommend to anyone.

If you haven’t been, prepare yourself for some delicious Portuguese offerings at Madeira Café. Great appetizers like the flaming chourico and the favas. For entrees– there are many superb chicken and beef choices. The dessert menu is quite extensive. Try the yummy Portuguese rice pudding. This eatery is highly recommended. Will definitely return soon.

I first went here with a large group (10) before a show at the Z.
They seated us in the side room and it was great.
They had 2 people serving us and the water, drinks and food
were delivered to our table quickly. The menu was good and
everyone was happy with their meals.
I returned another time and again a great experience.
The third time I was here was different. It was a little crowded but
still nothing compared to when I went with the large group.
We all knew what we wanted and ordered drinks, apps and our food.
Then 2 tables of 2 came in, they ordered several minutes after us,
and many of the same items we had ordered.
Their food was delivered immediately, then the owner appeared and
talked with them. Then their food came out. All while we were just sitting
there with drinks and bread and we ordered long before them.
There were just 3 of us and we got some of the exact same items.
Just had to be they were friends of the owner.
So we told the waitress what we witnessed and told her we could not patronize
a place where they pulled favorites. She apologized and said she would mention
it to the owner, we thought the owner may come and apologize also but
she didn’t.
All customers should be treated equally. I will not be returning here. There are
enough other alternatives where I am treated better.

Service is exceptional. They really want to make sure you are happy and want to come back. The food is really good. Worth going back. I’ve had better flavored Portuguese steak but that is not to take away from this place. Worth checking out.

Came here after visiting the indoor rock climbing facility. All I can say is awesome food, awesome service!!!

Live 25 minutes away. Saw ad on Unilocal and thought we would give it a try. My husband and I were very impressed and pleased. Went on a Saturday night at 7, prime time. There was function in the side room, so dining room had limited tables available. The staff was very friendly and genuinely concerned to make sure we were seated where we felt comfortable. We could have waited for a table to open up or sit in the adjacent bar area. We decided on the bar. It also had a full menu. Again, all the staff made you feel at home. Nice menu selection if you’re looking for good Portuguese food, which we were. The bartender said their Kale Soup was award winning, and she was right. We also had Flaming Chirico for an appetizer and Pork Alentejana for our meal, it was delicious. They also had a pretty impressive cappuccino and espresso machine for after dinner drinks. We would definitely go back again.

Really good Portuguese food and massive portions. Service was friendly and attentive. We’ll go back for sure!

Great restaurant. Authentic and tasty Portuguese cuisine.
There are many Portuguese restaurants in NB but I must say this is one of BEST!!! The restaurant also has amazing character! Very cute decour:) Highly recommend visiting this place!
