We came in one for desserts and Galao(Portuguese coffee) and cappuccino. We had excellent bean pudding, bean pastry, grandma pudding, rice pudding, and tiramisu. We were a big group and tried everything! Prompt service by an older woman who works there. At the time there was a domino tournament on the next table so it was a little bit noisy.

Mimo has been one of my favorite places since I was a kid. It may not be in the best neighborhood and it may not be the prettiest place, but the food is always delicious. Prices are more than reasonable and the portions are always more than enough. If you’re looking for authentic Portuguese for a great price, Mimo is one of your best bets!

A great place ito hang out if you are a middle aged Portuguese man, other than that not so much. Went last Sunday during the Pats game and all 3 tvs were turned to European football. This is fine since you cater to your audience, but the menu special is promoting its«NFL Sunday specials». Tough to get waited on even though it wasn’t busy, seemed a place strictly for regulars, I really felt like I had 3 heads. NFL special appetizer sampler was 2 small chicken wings, 6– onion rings, about 6 pieces of calamari and a stuffed quahaug. The only thing good was the quahaug, the rest was greasy and skimpy for the $ 8.

Visited this restaurant for lunch recently and had an overall good experience. We were celebrating my mothers birthday and were a party of 9. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. I ordered the pan fried fish fillets with boiled potatoes and salad. They had a nice flavor and were fresh. The waitress was friendly and attended to everyone’s needs. We arranged with the restaurant to bring out the birthday cake after the meal and they did a great job of timing it just right. My wife and I are not from the area but my sister is and this is one of her favorite local restaurants. The only knock was the mens rest room. It was clean but a little in need of a remodel. Overall, well done Mimo and thank you for helping us celebrate.

The older woman who is a waitress there must be related to the owner. No other way she keeps her job there. Horrid.

I’ve gone to café mimo twice, both terrible experience. So sad that the food is delicious and at reasonable prices. I went for a friends birthday and arrived 15 minutes later than the earliest people. they ordered and got their food before the lady came to our section of the table to order. my friend ordered her dish and asked to substitute her reg fries for circle fries. She didn’t get that. She also really wanted some chocolate mousse before her meal in a to go container. She didn’t receive it til after our food came, oh and our food took over a half hour to get. We also got one basket of bread for over 15 people, when we asked for more, we had to ask twice. Despite this semi-bad service we stopped here for my grandparents birthday, because the place we wanted to go to was closed. Bad choice. The one thing we did get on time was our drinks. One person in my party got the wrong meal, and instead of making a new steak, they tried to use the same steak(it was spicy and he didn’t want spicy). The owner sent it back and our waitress brought«another» out. Again the manager came over, and then the person in my party got his food about halfway through the rest of our meals. Our waitress came and took our plates away, and the manager came and took the person who got their meal last’s plate. After that? No one asked us if we wanted dessert, or the check. We got the waitress’s attention and she walked away. REALLY? I’ve been a waitress and that is no way to treat your customers. What was worse is that the owner gave us a stink eye when he walked by. Don’t be mad that we caught you trying to use the same meat from the wrong meal. Never going there again. Terrible Terrible service. Oh ya they charged for his meal. Mess up the order once? Then use the same spicy steak, and make believe you made a new order? SHAMEONYOU

I don’t know what happened to this place, but whatever it was it’s not good. I got the Bife a Mimo, which is steak, round fries, rice and an egg. The steak was the worst I’ve ever had at a Portuguese restaurant, it just seemed like it was really low grade. The fries and rice was just ok, more untasteful if anything. The funny thing was I noticed before ordering how the price went down from the last time I was here, but in the long run that didn’t seem to matter. Food was just bad!!! This place was my main go to Portuguese spot and has been since I was little, unfortunately it won’t be anymore. The service was better from the last time, but that means nothing when the food is garbage. Since this place has done me good in the past, I will visit here again later on in the future, but if it’s bad it will be my last time. I’m just hoping that they had an off day, a really off day and that it won’t ever be this bad again. 1.5 stars

This place is a hidden gem among all the second hand shops in new Bedford(on the ave.) If you want a good and cheap sandwich… or if you want, you can get a big and Portuguese meal that is big on flavor. you can either sit in the casual bar area(they usually have the cheaper things there) or you v=can sit in the small and fancy dining room The prices and service is okay(I’m taking one star off because I had to wait fifteen more minutes after the rest of my family got their food)
