Wild Wolf Brewery is by far my favorite Brewery Environment. It’s like a fun little town within the Brewery. The outdoor seating area is underneath the shade of beautiful trees. They have a bar area where they have Live Music. Across the road within the Brewery is a gift shop where they have pretty cool memorabilia. The dining area is clean relaxing and closed in, with an option to open a screen door to let Air in. They have corn hole areas, a child play area, a Koi Pond and a spacious smoking section. Out back there is what appears to be a hall or ballroom for rent. They smokehouse sampler was great. It comes with ribs, chicken, pulled pork, potato salad and bread. The beers are cold and very good. I personally am not a fan of honey beers but the Blonde Honey was pretty good. Great environment to relax, have dinner and enjoy the beer

As a person with food allergies, eating in restaurants is often a traumatic experience for me. Wild Wolf had a gluten-free menu with lots of choices, and they also helped me avoid my other food allergies. I ordered fried fish, complete with gluten free batter. Such a treat! The sweet potato fries were tasty, too. My husband had regular battered fried fish and said it was very good. He also enjoyed the brew(I think American Pilsner) that had been a suggested pairing for his fish. A delightful meal, and we will definitely return.

Awesome service and great food. Reuben sandwich has the best homemade sauerkraut! Ribs were good as well. Ate outside as it was a beautiful summer evening and enjoyed the sound of the waterfalls.

We really enjoyed the Korean barbecue tacos and the blackened fish tacos. The waitress, Kaitlin, was knowledgable and friendly. We even left with 2 cases of beer for our camping adventure next weekend.

If you live or are just visiting Nelson County make a point to spend sometime here! By far my favorite brewery in the area. Best beer, food and atmosphere combo around! Great kid and dog friend environment.

What a lovely spot, and I loved the blonde hunny beer. Had the calamari appetizer which wasn’t served warm, but still a nice mix of spicy, sweet with blue cheese. Got to take my dog and she too loved sitting in the shaded garden.

Over in Virginia for our holidays and there is a stretch of mico-breweries on route 151 — all worth a visit! Always try a flight of beers — you get to try everything and it’s not expensive. Definitely worth a visit. Try the blonde hunny or dry stout! The whoa nelly is a great beer as well.

I did not have any food so cannot speak on that. They have a very neat kids play area, along with a small stocked pond and gazebo. Was not busy at all but was a fun, comfortable crowd at 7pm on a Thursday night. Had the 13 beer flight. Taking into consideration I’m more of a stout and IPA guy, the pilsners and ales were really, pretty gross. Besides Golden Hunny. Golden Hunny, plus the IPAs and stouts were definitely worth the trip + cost. Would recommend. Decent views if seated outside in the front yard.

This place is just awesome! We had the ginger beer which was phenomenal. I had the Reuben sandwich which was the best Reuben I’ve ever had — the bread is homemade and super fresh, and the corned beef is smoked in house and incredibly flavorful. We also had the risotto fritters which were amazing. We finished off the meal with the strawberry shortcake which was amazing! The strawberries were very fresh, and the scone was house made and just awesome. The service here is top notch too! Best restaurant and brewery in the area for sure!

Wild Wolf has the best food of the 3 breweries on 151, the short rib tacos are fantastic. The servers are pleasant and it’s the most dog friendly. 4 stars due to their beers vs the competition on 151. DB has an incredible facilities and great, ever changing, beers. But the food is overpriced and, although they have improved over the last year, the service at the bar can border on rude. Blue Mountain has some great beer and a nice patio, but the food isn’t the main event. Great servers, packed on the weekends.

We came to wild wolf on a Saturday evening and we didn’t have a wait to my surprise. They sat us in the back patio which was great. I would recommend sitting in the back patio because it has a great view and it is enclosed so you won’t get too hot or cold. On Saturdays they have live music starting at 7 and on Sunday’s music starting at 2. We started off by ordering the house flight for $ 5. If you wanted to try beers separately it was $ 1.50 each. I personally liked the blonde honey and that is what I ended up ordering a 20oz glass of($ 5). The beer was hit or miss. Additionally to the flight we tried the ginger beer which was ok. Overall the beer seemed average with the exception of the blonde honey and the primal instinct. For the meal we ordered shrimp and grits as well as the pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries. I had the shrimp and grits and I thought they had a lot of flavor. They do have a bit of a kick to them but it isn’t too spicy. My only complaint was the portion size. I thought it easily could have come with a bit more. My wife had the BBQ sandwhich which she said was also good but the bread was a bit dry and again it seemed like they could have been a little more generous with the portions for the sides. Lastly we got cheesecake for dessert and neither of us were very impressed with the cheesecake. Next time we will probably go with the peanut butter pie. Overall, the atmosphere is great and the food is good. Definitely a place to visit at least once. The prices on the beer are fair but the food can be a bit pricy. They also do have cornhole out front and a gift shop where you can buy additional souvenirs or 6 packs to go.

The BEST ribs and most lip-smacking’ sauce in VA. Brews are awesome, too, with a large variety and many seasonal favorites.

I came here not knowing what to expect. I had originally asked to sit outside on their patio but they sat us in their back covered patio with a tremendous view. I was conflicted; I wanted to sit outdoors but I couldn’t argue with the view. The beer was good. Not great. The food was good. We got the pulled pork tacos and burger. Both were good and I would recommend. The burger was overcooked. We also got the soft pretzel for an appetizer. It was fantastic. I would go back just for that. The only disappointment is that we really came for the live music that started at 7. We left at 7:45 and the musician was still setting up. So no music for us. An otherwise good experience.

Really loved our experience at Wild Wolf. The beer was great, the burger was awesome and the location is a lot of fun(great outdoor and indoor spaces). Some of my favorites were the blonde hunny and the ginger beer. The burger was really tasty and was great with the beer. Get the sweet potato fries — they are life changing.

I’ll break this down into 3 sections: beer, food, and atmosphere/service. Beer: 4⁄5 This is the biggest thing that’s improved over the last 5 years. They have really honed in on what’s important to have a great brewing company. Their regular 5 beers are pretty great — try them all! There’s no question why you’ll be able to find blonde hunny and primal instinct across the state — they are both exceptional. The other specialty beers are little interesting. I was a little disappointed with a few and impressed by a couple others. Overall though, very solid beer. Food: 4⁄5 If you’re willing to pay a little bit, it’s good food. They definitely don’t skimp on portions and do a great job of having lots of different things to choose from. I’ve had the Korean tacos, chicken tenders, and BBQ nachos and all were great, just a little more expensive than I would have liked to see. Atmosphere: 4⁄5 The venue is so awesome. They’ve spent a lot of time and money to make it look great, and it does. Gift shop area was cool as is the patio section and the bar. The wait staff is pretty average. The décor inside is farm-esque, which feels homey and welcoming. If you’re doing the Brew Ridge Trail, be sure to stop on by!

Went Saturday night for dinner. Knowing it was the Saturday night of Valentines expected some wait. Actually was less then 20 minutes. Enjoyed a full flight of beer. Some I like others would not be on my list again. However, I am just learning about beers and still discovering what I like. Met the brewmaster in the bar and really wish we had taken more advantage of him. Really missed the opportunity of connecting and getting him to educate me more about the beers and what to look for. That said, he was a super nice guy and would have probably taken as much time as we wanted. We were with another couple so more focused on them that night. Ordered the burger and it was a little more rare than I would like. Overall the food was good. Most others ordered the fish tacos and really enjoyed them. Will definitely be back. Gave the rating of 4 based on service. Our waiter was a complete waste and was almost clueless with how to serve and work a table. Since my daughter eats here often, we know this is not the norm and we just happen to draw the short straw with servers. Hopefully next experience will be a five.

We visited Wild Wolf Brewing Co., after a day of driving down the Skyline Drive to check out the leaves turning. It was our first time at Wild Wolf and so I was excited to try out a new Virginia craft brewery. My friend and I both did beer samplers, I had a total of seven sampler brews, whereas my friend did all of them. I tried the following brews: American Pilsner(4.5% ABV) Blonde Hunny(6.8% ABV) Wee Heavy(5.7% ABV) Alpha Ale(5.1% ABV) Dry Stout(4.0% ABV) Primal Instinct IPA(7.4% ABV) Howling Pumpkin(7.0% ABV) Kick IT Session IPA(4.3% ABV) I was totally un-wowed by their beers. They all seemed to lack depth, complexity, and character. Of all of the brews I tried, the only one I enjoyed was the Alpha Ale. I also ordered the pork Nachos. Not very good. The service was good.

This is a huge brewery restaurant. Me and my dining companion had appetizers, split an entrée, dessert and ordered a flight. For appetizers we had their pretzel bites and 30-mile charcuterie plate, smoked platter sampler entrée, peanut butter pie dessert, and the seasonal and regular flights. Pretzel bites were good, but were covered in too much oil/butter…the tasty cheese sauce would slide right off. The charcuterie plate was tasty, but had room to improve as well. The concept is on point as it features products within a 30-mile radius, however the products themselves could use some work. The andouille sausage was the star, while the prosciutto which was more reminiscent of bacon(pork belly) was ruined by being presented in too thick of slices. The cheeses — a slice of in-house mozz and a cheddar — were both ok. For $ 7 I wasn’t too ruffled with the experiment. Now…onto the actual goodness. The smoked platter was great. We asked for double portion of pulled pork in lieu of the ribs, and kept the ¼ chicken as is. Both of the meats were outstanding. I loved the smokiness on the chicken skin and both meats were very tender. The accompanying smoked potato salad tasted sour(I thought rancid), but the waitress assured it was made that day. Something was off with the sauce in the salad according to my buds. We let that part of the platter walk it’s way back into the kitchen. The peanut butter pie was stellar. Wonderful crispy crust. Peanuty cream. Chocolate drizzle. woo hoo! Nothing but deliciousness there. The $ 10 seasonal and regular flight was a good deal and great way to taste their on-draft arsenal. Total of 113 oz pours. I liked two of the seasonal the best; the session IPA and the honey saison. The honey saison had so much wonderful herbal flavor that ACTUALLY came through… a feat of sorts. The rest of the beers I felt were just ok and not ready for primetime just yet. Large variety, but none really held their own or were perfected. The venue is huge. There’s seating inside, outside, in an outdoor backyard«bubble» room, at the bar. Service was pretty good and quick. I wish the waitress was a little bit more sure of herself and would say things like, «That’s interesting, it was made today, but let’s send it back, share the feedback with the kitchen and get you something else in exchange,» instead of, «It was made today. The smokiness sometimes get me,» and leaves it.

Wild Wolf Brewing Company is a nice restaurant and brewery just a couple of minutes down the road from Wintergreen Resort, right off a stretch of road that seems to be cropping up with a new brewery, cidery or distillery every time I am in the area. Having driven by several times, my husband and I were finally in the area at the right time(read: the place is almost always jam packed) and made it in for Sunday brunch(which runs 11 – 2) right when they first opened. Walking through the beautiful courtyard to the main building to be seated we immediately noticed how kid friendly this brewery is. In fact, on one side of the building they have a bouncy castle, and on the other they have a playground! There is also a coy pond and a quarter will get you some feed for the fish. This is definitely a different approach to a brewery than I am used to, but I bet it’s really awesome for folks with kids that are looking to do something different! We were greeted quickly, which is good as there isn’t a whole lot of standing room in the entrance and they get busy fast, and seated right away. Our server came by, informed us of the specials, took our drink order and we were happy to enjoy a leisurely brunch starting with sipping and sharing a sample flight. As for the beer, I have to say we were initially drawn in to this brewery(especially in an area where there are so many!) because it is the only one to grow it’s own hops. Little did I know, the food would actually be our favorite part of our visit! Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy most of their beers in the flight we tried. My standouts were the Blonde Hunny, Maibock and the Saison, and I also though the Ginger Lager was very interesting. But the food really stole the show for me. All of their food is locally grown, smoked, baked or just generally perfected on site. And let me tell you. They do not mess around! Portions are large, and everything coming out of the kitchen smelled and looked fantastic! Hubs ordered the breakfast burrito and barely talked to me for twenty minutes, basically only coming up for air to tell me how good it was! I went for one of the daily specials; the porchetta and grilled peaches. In hind sight, I should have asked how big it was since I was only able to eat about a half of it. But if you have a big appetite, or want to share a meal it was fanfreakingtastic. Also, hellllllllooooo grilled peaches! Grilling fruit is my favorite; so it was so exciting to see this on a menu! Even though we were mostly stuffed at this point, we still HAD to try the blueberry cobbler and were not disappointed. It was warm and gooey; the perfect balance of tart and sweet, covered in a flaky delicious pasty crust, topped with a dollop of decadent vanilla ice cream. It was amazing. Just writing about it is bumming me out and making me wish I could eat another one right now. Dang. I am a fan of WWBC. They have lots of upcoming special events, if you are local to the area you can check out their listings on their website, Twitter or Facebook page. I definitely plan on returning when I am in the area, but was also excited to see that my local Trader Joe’s and Total Wine carry some of their products for when I don’t have time to make the trek out there.

I really like a handful of Wild Wolf’s beers and have been to the actual brewery twice. The first time was a few months back when I did the whole Brew Ridge trail in one day, and most recently I went to watch the NHL playoffs. Wild Wolf is the most local of all of the breweries we visited on the Brew Ridge Trail(including Starr Hill, Blue Mountain, and Devil’s Backbone). And by most local, I mean the most local folks there – the other three are more built up and seem to attract more tourists. While there on our first visit, we did both of the tasting, and I enjoyed some of the beers, but others were big misses. The second time around, we got dinner and watched the game. They have a large outdoor seating area, a smaller indoor area, and then seating around a large bar in the back of the place. The have a huge projector behind the bar, but they didn’t play the sound for the game, just Sirius, whatever. They pride themselves on being a farm to fork restaurant. They have two menus – a regular dinner one and a bar fare menu that has different starters on it than the regular menu, so be sure to look out for it. We started with the pretzel bites, which I forgot to photograph. They were good, and the cheese and mustard that came with them was also very good. I ordered the Southern-style buttermilk chicken sandwich. I obviously ordered the chicken fried, and the sandwich has an awesome jam that is a really nice complement to the chicken. He ordered the pulled pork tacos. Halfway through our meal with switched, and I didn’t like them! They were really messy, and the corn tortilla was hard to pick up. The pork itself is barbequed, which made for a very confusing meal. Overall, I really do like Wild Wolf and suggest you check it out the next time you’re out in the boonies.
