Four of us made an hour trip to get some excellent seafood since we came in the spring and it was not busy and quite delicious. Well this experience was not anything like the first. We waited 10 mins to be seated while servers walked by us and ignored us. And there were at least 3 empty tables. After being seated we waited 10 more minutes to have someone get our drink order and that was after flagging them down. Another 10 minutes to actually get the drinks. Then 15 mins to order and get appetizer. Starving an agitated by this time. Finally got soup and salad but no appetizer which was ordered first. She crab soup was watered down to the max. So different from the first time. Luke warm and had to ask for crackers 2x. For $ 8 a bowl, I wanted more than some water resembling broth with a few shreds of crab floating around. Ahhhhhh such a disappointment. I consider myself an expert of she crab soup and I have to say this was the WORST I have ever had. Had to ask for napkins 3x before receiving. All glasses were empty before getting refills and then had to beg for them. Appetizer finally came with no plates. 3 tiny slices of green tomato and cheese. Seriously we can’t even get a whole tomato. Took 10 mins to get plates which were salad plates cause regular plates were all dirty. And one of the plates we received were dirty. By this time, we decided to make a comedy of our time there because we had already been there an hour and it was either laugh or cry. We ate the app and then proceeded to wait another 30 mins for dinner. I have to give to to our server, she was trying. But it just wasn’t enough. Come on– get some help! The food isn’t bad if you ever get it. At this point we are ready to ask for a bed in the back and spend the nite. The reason this review is so long is cause ok starving and still waiting on food. We were all at our wits end. Ready to go to McDonald’s where at least we could eat something. Finally an hour and a half in, half of our food came and one plate didn’t have all the food described on the menu. Needless to say we will NEVER return here. Unless you are getting take out and call it in 2 hours in advance don’t come here We really set out to have a delicious dinner and were willing to work with them but this was totally unacceptable.

WOW! Great fresh seafood in the middle of Nelson County is a surprise. Getting freshly prepared crawfish that tastes like it was served in New Orleans is a bigger surprise!!! Food is great, the service was great and the staff was friendly. We will be back!

Great food… a real gem hidden away in Nellysford. Seafood as good as it gets… fresh and the fried food is very lightly done… nice addition to the food fare at the bottom of the mountains.

The Oceanwide Seafood place is a family trying to fill a high-end food gap for the Wintergreen Resort area. The Resort food has not been good for many years and it would be wonderful if the Resort would buy FRESHSEAFOOD from Oceanwide Seafood to improve their dining experiences and if The Market would buy some FRESHSEAFOOD and stock and re-sell on the weekends especially during ski season or special events. Wintergreen does not own lodging, lodging is rented out by property owners some through Wintergreen Resort, some privately and some through VRBO(Vacation Rental By Owner). The majority of homes here have fine, well-equipped kitchens to cook fresh fish, seafood, crab… Thank you Oceanwide for bringing that to us. Oceanside now has a restaurant with the market!

So, I’d gladly give this place more stars, but can’t yet. We had to wait 50 minutes to get appetizers and then more than another 25 minutes for dinner. When you walk in at 6:55 and don’t get to finally eat your dinner until 8:15, something is just straight up wrong. The food was damn good, though. The hush puppies were wonderful, all corny and warm and soft inside. The grilled oysters had a wonderful charcoal flavor to them that was different than anything we’ve ever had before. The low country boil was as expected, which is to say it was free and tasty and had just the right amount of sausage and Old Bay. My wife had the red snapper special, which was also really nice and blackened well. Heck, even the fish and chips that our kids ate was done well, soft and flaky and covered in a tasty batter. Really, the food was very good and blew past our somewhat muted expectation for seafood hundreds of miles from the sea. We aren’t completely turned off yet, though. Again, good food… almost always worth a few more tries. So, we’ll be back and hope that the service is better.

Great seafood restaurant. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Try the she crab soup or the Po Boy. Good prices. Get the homemade Key Lime Pie.

Passed by this spot a few times thinking it might just be a seafood market, it is and wow — also a fantastic fresh seafood restaurant. Probably the best She Crab Soup we’ve had — fried dishes done to order and not to heavily battered so the seafood shines through. Got to meet the owner/fishmonger and chef — he hails from a family who have been shrimpers in GA for 65 years(needless to say, he knows fish!) if you are in the mood for seafood — do your self a favor and stop here

Excellent fresh food and friendly service. Def tell it’s a family owned spot. Nice little surprise while doing the breweries. A more expansive local beer list would be nice to see, but I’m sure they’ll get there. Will most certainly come back again.

Best food — worst service EVER. Got unlucky there. Steak dinner and oyster po’boy excellent. Too bad about 3 stars.

Excellent food and good beer selection. Love to grab a bite then grab more seafood to take home. She Crab soup is phenomenal, but elusive. Crab cakes are great and staff is friendly.

We ate there last night for the first time. Everything was delicious and presented nicely. The crawfish were not dry, the shrimp and grits were wonderful, and the scallops were excellent. One member of our party got the Shellfish Tower, and everything on it was devoured. I can’t wait to go back.

Great addition to our local dining options in Nellysford, VA. James the owner /chef has done a marvelous job in not only the kitchen by turning out some of the tastiest and freshest dishes to be found within a radius of 200 miles of our little hamlet, but he never fails to come out of his kitchen to personally greet his dinner guests to make them feel welcome. I usually have the fresh yellow fin tuna, seared rare, and have never been disappointed. James’s’ cole slaw is the best you will find anywhere. The best part dining at Oceanwide Seafood is knowing that you will always have the freshest of seafood prepared to perfection in the kitchen. James knows his seafood, has the right contacts to get the best and freshest of the local stuff delivered to him within hours of the catch. I have never seen a Sysco truck pull into Oceanwide, which may account for the fresh dishes coming out of James’ kitchen. Love this restaurant.

Great to have this restaurant in our rural area. Their food is excellent — everything is fresh. Someone in their kitchen sure knows how to fry with just the right touch — hush puppies, French fries and talapia(usually do not eat talapia or fried food) are all so good. No greasy taste at all. We have also had salmon and calamari and lobster. You just can’t go wrong. It is a pleasure to support a truly worthwhile local business.

Oceanwide is a real find — seafood so fresh, you feel like you are at the beach. The seafood market has been open for a while and the restaurant opened during the summer. The market carries a wide array of seafood, including the best tuna and mahi I have had and a fabulous Cajun crab dip. My restaurant favorite is the cedar-plank salmon for dinner and the shrimp po-boy for lunch. Be sure to get the soup of the day — we love them all and will make a special trip for the lobster bisque. The bar offers local beers and fun cocktails and the bar itself is beautiful — reclaimed barn wood adds a special touch. Great service, delicious food, relaxed and casual setting in the restaurant, super fresh seafood in the market — my favorite in the area, by far!
