Love this little place. Sadly they have cut their hours down. Excellent tacos, just like in Tijuana.

such an unexpected stop here some delicious adobada!!! Had the jamaica and the adobada burrito, the jamaica is actually on the sweeter side, but strong hibiscus flavors. The adobada burrito came out piping hot. I swear I haven’t touched a burrito this hot before, and it was packed with the adobada with some onions and guacamole. It. was. delicious. I was full 1⁄3 way into the burrito but I kept going and going. Just couldn’t resist that grilled flavors! I finished it and had a food coma! The space is cafeteria like, self-serve. They provide the salsas, and I got the spicy one. It tasted like a strong chipotle salsa, delicious. However, I think a mild salsa will go well with the adobada instead. I will return in the future!!! They accept cards, but 50 cent charge if less than $ 10. However, they didn’t put it on my bill, so I added it to my tip.

For the price, the burrito was pretty good. Solid food. Not from around here, but for 6 bucks, a burrito and drink plus if you check in you get a free taco… Can’t top that.

Since I have been in San Diego it had been very hard to find a real good authentic Mexican restraint that has flavor and just great taste. Mr. Taco is extremely clean, generous, and taste amazing!

I can’t believe I had driven by this place so long and never stopped to check it out. A friend of mine recommended this place for the tacos and it didn’t disappoint. I only tried the Carne Asada tacos but they were delicious. These were the best TJ style tacos I have tried in the area. Meat was fantastic and the tortillas tasted fresh. The only down side, and I was told about this in advance, is that they close at 5p daily. I’ll be stoping by again soon, especially after seeing the taco Tuesday special.

With so many great taco places to chose from, you think a place called«Mr Tacos» would have some good tacos! Unfortunately the 4.5 star reviews fell way short of this. I had the free taco that came with the Unilocal check in since I really wanted to try them. Carne asada taco was about 2 stars. I wouldn’t bring anyone here to try a «street taco» that was visiting from out in town. Meet was thin, dry and lacking of any flavor. A bit over cooked Main coarse was the carne asada fries plus beans. Size was good but again the carne asada was below par. This might be «good Mexican food» in North Carolina but in SD its way below par. Fries were the thick wavy ones and not crispy but okay. Plenty of cheese which was good and sour cream and guacamole was okay. I would say a 2.5 stars out of 5(I left half on my plate. Lolitas would have been completely gone as I like theirs better) Wife had the pollo asado plate which I tried and wasn’t impressed, but their chicken was better than their carne asada. Texture was good, nice and moist but lacking any seasoning or flavor. 3 stars(barely) Bean and cheese burrito for the kids sucked. Beans tasted a bit burnt and tortillas were okay. But the beans had some after taste which I didn’t like. I would say 2.5 stars for the bean and cheese. I doubt I’ll be back with so many other places to chose from and Lolitas being a block away. But they have good reviews so try them if you want. You might like them better.

Overall it was good and very tasty. The place was clean, a little outdated both inside and out but with a couple touch ups, they could bring more business in. Especially on the outside. Handmade to order tortillas is what brings me back to an establishment. Being the cheese fan that I am, a quesadilla is a must and it did not disappoint. At 1st, as I walked in, I was the only there, making me have seconds thoughts this place. But by the time I was done eating, 3 families came in and 2 more people walked in with to go orders. I was also happy with the fact that they have the traditional Mexican glass bottled drinks. Very happy with meal and spent a bit under $ 10

Really love their carne asada fries! The place itself from the outside doesn’t look as approachable but inside is clean and food is good with reasonable prices. Boyfriend and I ordered to go late one night and we were impressed with how good the food tasted. Lately we tried driving by and seen that it was closed so for a bit he and I were dismayed to think the business had closed. Drove by today and saw it was open so we quickly drove to dine in. So I guess their business hours changed to 5pm closing which is such a shame. Cashier later stated it was because nights there were really dead. 5 is still way too early though! We arrived a few minutes before five but they still let us dine in until 530. They bring sauces to the table which is nice. Horchata tasted a bit off. More like vanilla water or something but we were more than satisfied with food and service

This place surprised the hell out of me. The name didn’t sound delicious, or enticing, and when we rolled up to the actual restaurant; the place looked kind of sketchy. Nevertheless, I’m glad I went in because when I did, it was a complete change of scenery. The inside of this place is kept very clean, and has tables with three different salsas. After you order your food, you’ll be brought limes and radishes for your meal. As for the food, it is definitely one of the better Mexican food places in San Diego. Their tacos are packed with some great flavor. Absolutely delicious, and if I ever find myself wanting some tacos, I’ve officially stopped going to the two closer Mexican food places near my house because they just don’t taste as good. If you can give this place a try, but as of right now the restaurant dropped it’s hours to close at 5PM. So that’s pretty much the biggest downside recently.

Everyone knows that hole-in-wall is the only way to go if you want great, authentic Mexican food. And this place is no exception. The immediate surrounding area is kind of sketchy, but inside the restaurant is very clean and humble. Their California burritos are probably my boyfriend’s favorite food of all time. He could eat them 3 times a week. I love their adobada quesadilla and their carne asada fries myself! Their home made tortillas alone are absolutely divine. The sole reason I am not giving them a 5 star review is because we have had the teenage boy mess up our orders over the phone TWICE(we hate sour cream) and have had to come back. But we’ve learned to check our food before we leave and just have whomever we speak to on the phone repeat the order back to us. Overall this is a great little place for some authentic and inexpensive food!

LOVE this place! I live down the street and my boyfriend and I can’t get enough. The servers bring everything to your table even though it’s clearly a casual place. We have always had nice people help us. Their best item is hands down their carne asada tacos! They always use fresh tortillas, guacamole, and the meat flavor sets it apart from a lot of regular taco shops. It looks a bit sketchy but once you are inside, it’s nice and clean. Tacos are only 1.75 and I would highly recommend!

Despite the exterior sketchiness of its location, Mr. Tacos is a cheap burrito haven. But not necessarily cheap on ingredients, because the taste of the Pollo California Burrito was great for a burrito under $ 5. As inexpensive as that is, those Meatless Mondays? Forget them. Cure your Mondaze by picking up a specially priced $ 3.50 burrito of your choice(barring Surf and Turf). They take cards, but I would suggest pulling a fiver from your pocket to pay. Then take it to go. Oh, and though Taco Tuesdays offer $ 1.25 tacos, a Unilocal check-in yields a free taco when you get a drink(soda can) with a burrito. Again, you can pick the meat. I got Carne Asada, and Señor packed it with lots of good guacamole.

I have always passed by this place and once I Unilocaled for some tacos around the area ended up coming here! $ 1.75 for tacos and $ 1.85 for the sides when I purchased the rice and beans! The place wasn’t busy at all once I entered. The quality of the food was average but I wasn’t a fan of the tap water. Should have purchased a horchata or soda.

Solid choice for street tacos! In honor of Taco Tuesday, they offer the carne asada and adobada tacos for only $ 1.25/ea — so naturally, we stockpile them!

Señor Taco is quite good. Now the place is not much to look at, but they make their street tacos right. I mean, they are not pretty, but their flavors are on the mark. I ordered two adobada and one carne asada taco at $ 1.75 each, but on Tuesday’s you can get them at $ 1.25 each. What I loved about the carne asada taco was not only that the meat was tender and plentiful, but it had a great developed smoky mesquite flavor and what I miss in great carne asada, a hint of lemon. The guacamole was very good, a pinch of salt would of been good, but it was well mix and abundant. The chopped onions and cilantro was haphazardly tossed onto the tacos, so some it missed it target. I like them onions and cilantro, so please have it make its mark! The adobada tacos were great. These had a great adobada flavor of red chili sauce, garlic, and mild vinegar and oregano flavor. The pork meat was not only very flavorful, but very tender and juicy. These two also came generously filled with the same guacamole. Great adobada and with the right traditional flavor that many taco shops miss. Well done…

This is a sit down little shop. No drive through sorry. The food is reasonably priced and atmosphere is ok. They have two tv’s with sports on. This place is right off sweet water road close to the 805 freeway. After you order they bring chips which is nice. I got the combo plate which consists of a shredded beef tostada, a taco of your choice, rice and beans. I also ordered an extra taco too. My wife got three tacos with cheese. They charge an extra .25 cents for cheese. The food took a pretty long time to get to the table. Also the chips where a shiny with oil. But the guy gave us a free coke and the food was really good. I especially liked the tostada. Overall it’s a great taco place.

What does it take for me to give a business 5 solid stars? I was having a chat with my hubs about this subject as we were devouring Mr Tacos’s adobada tacos(perfectly seasoned meat with a dollop of guacamole and cilantro) and he mentioned something that I thought was genius. He said that a restaurant is 5 stars when as you’re eating the food, you are already planning in your head the next time you want to come back. In fact, you would come back the same day! You just can’t get enough. Well folks, that’s EXACTLY how we were both feeling as we were having lunch at Mr Tacos. My husband is still talking about this place and we are going back very soon! The tacos are the closest thing to Tijuana, Mexico tacos that we have had.(If you haven’t had TJ tacos, you are missing out, my friend). The homemade horchata is a must-try and a good balance of sweetness. The prices are very reasonable too. Most of the burritos are under $ 5 and they have specials on Mondays($ 1 off their burritos). The taco Tuesday price is $ 1.25! The restaurant itself needs a little makeover, in my opinion. As I was looking around, I was thinking that they would be a good candidate for a restaurant makeover show on the Food Network. However, I still give this place 5 stars because the food is fantastic! Thanks, Unilocal, for helping us find this place when we were down in the area. You don’t dissapoint! **Yelp checkin: buy a burrito, get a free taco**
